Been meaning to try Ranjit’s Kitchen for ages, and I finally stopped in one Friday evening. I can see why it’s so popular! I got Ranjit’s Punjabi Thali, £11.95 - a great way to sample a mix of their dishes, with the daal of the day (lentil & chickpea), sabji (spiced turnip), homemade yoghurt, salad, 2 rotis, pickle & chutney. The small plates were great, giving you a chance to try different flavours. Also tried the Sweet Chana with Paneer, £6.50, Aloo Tiki Special, £7, and a Mango Lassi, £2.20—plus 2 extra roti (£1.35 each) because you can never have too much. The thali was packed with flavour, and the small plates added variety. Not a huge fan of the aloo tiki - it just felt like battered mash (not a good thing), nothing standout. The place has a lovely, welcoming feel and the staff were great. For what you get, it’s excellent value. Well worth a visit! Follow me on insta for more reviews: @Lewishere_lewisthere

The food is so good that I found myself eating a turnip curry and wishing there was more of it. The service is brisk and efficient, but still hospitable and friendly. The prices are so low that I felt genuinely guilty when I paid. I was telling my daughter how much better my home town of Leeds was for South Asian food than Glasgow, then we came here to eat and it made me look foolish. The best low-cost (and it could hardly be more low-cost unless they actually just gave food away) Indian restaurant I have ever eaten in.

I had a terrible experience at Ranjit’s Kitchen, and I feel compelled to share it. I was genuinely excited to try this place whilst being back in my hometown visiting my family, especially as someone of Indian descent. However, my visit left me feeling traumatized by the treatment I received from Ken, the acting manager. I went in to collect an order on behalf of a dear friend due to a slight misunderstanding regarding her order. Instead of a warm welcome, I was met with hostility from Ken. He threw money down on the counter and refused to serve me, which was absolutely shocking. It seemed like he was on a power trip, as he was the only white member of staff and acted as if he owned the place, even though I knew he was not the owner. When I tried to speak with his staff for clarification, he kept insisting he was the only one in charge and wouldn’t let me speak to the other members of staff, who also seemed quite shocked by his behavior. His conduct was not only rude but also intimidating. As someone with a petite frame, I felt small and overwhelmed as he towered over me with his crossed arms. I showed him my hands, which were shaking from the stress of the encounter. Afterward, I sat in my car outside the restaurant, shaken up and in tears, so I decided to call my friend to understand the situation. She had asked for extra potato in her parata, as the ones she had ordered the day before seemed a lot less than usual. I really don’t think that was a reason to throw me out of the restaurant. This kind of treatment is unacceptable, and I would not recommend anyone experience such disrespect. Ranjit’s Kitchen needs to seriously address their customer service issues, especially when handling misunderstandings. I was really looking forward to enjoying this place, but after this experience, I will definitely not be returning.

The best way to define ranjit’s to me is straightfoward. The focus is on the quality of food and it never disappoints. The place itself is interesting, but be mindful you might need to share a table with strangers if it’s busy. In my experience it’s always fine, but might not be your cup of tea. Don’t forget to try the cheese pakora, the daal, and the chickpeas curry. Almost everything in the menu is gluten free, including bread, and vegetarian. Highly recommended

Honestly is the most amazing food I have ever tasted! The samosas are delicious, tikkia, pakora all so fresh light and incredibly tasty. Try the sweets, the Indian sweet bakes there delectable. The saag is delicious with yellow roti, different dish every day. Saag is normally a Thursday. The food is so fresh and tasty. Not oily or too much spice and salt, not heavy. Just perfect homemade food. Definitely worth a visit, will become a regular trip of yours 👌a must try. Best vegetarian Indian restaurant ever been to.

Still a Gem of a place! The best clean, vegan food you will find in Glasgow (possibly the very best vegetable pakora out there, and definitely the best pakora sauce out there despite all the competition)! Update; the staff here really do stand out, they do a great job and go that extra mile on their own initiative (which most other places don't)👍

People rave about this place, but I don't get it. I had a scrambled paneer, which was small, fairly bland and underwhelming. I ordered a mixed veg paratha and some pakora to take out. The paratha I opened at home was methi, which is not what I ordered, and was so thin it was literally hard and snapped like a cracker. The pakora were pretty good but came without any kind of sauce - given the man in the shop had literally made a point of telling me they had included chutney and raita, when there was nothing of the sort, this was even more of a disappointment. Everything felt stingy and ungenerous and, even with such a small take out order, they got it wrong. There are so many better options in the area.

We got a few things from Ranjits last night to take home. Vegetable pakora, paneer pakora, chana paneer and paratha. The veg pakora is by far the best ive ever eaten! The paneer pakora was just as good i love tgst they stuff it with onions. The chana paneer is so rich and homely tasting. I've had a bit of a cold, it went down a treat! I would completely recommend eating here. Staff are great and place feels nice and cosy. Great price too. 10/10

Truly lives up to the hype! Pretty amazing the quality of food you’re getting for the prices you’re paying, the only oddity is that if you sit in by the window you’ll have people waiting for their takeout approximately six inches from your neck… But when the food is this good tunnel vision kicks in and you forget about other people, other places, other times, other meals! All consuming food that you can’t help but consume.

I have been to 100+ indian restaurants across the British isles and this has to be the most endearing food experience for me. The food gas never ever tasted so homely anywhere else as here. There is a reason men are mostly chefs because they can cook seller food for restaurants but can't cook food which gives the patrons a feeling of nostalgia of healthy and homely food. The women chefs at this restaurant are so blessed with their skills to cook a homely experience for diners God bless them all and good luck to the restaurant for many years to come.

Restaurant was not advertised ad vegetarian! We were looking forward to some Punjabi Masala fish. Menu was very basic, the easiest dishes which are possible to make. The restaurant attracts a vegetarian/vegan crowd. The fact that there were no Asians dining here should've been a red flag in itself. Food was okay, nothing special. Paneer pakora was hard and disappointing. Service was very friendly though, even although they changed the waiter a couple of times which is my pet hate. Suits the gora palate and they seem to be catering to this vegan type crowd. You don't advertise as an exclusively vegetarian restaurant so it doesnt make sense. I mean is it really so hard to add punjabi fish, fish pakora or even a basic chicken curry! Will not return unfortunately, but hope you can take some of our suggestions seriously.

Wow! The food at this vegetarian/vegan restaurant is off the hook. The thali was £12 and included 2 roti; sabzi of potatoes, peas and carrots; black chick pea dal; homemade yogurt; tamarind chutney; lemon pickle; and a wee fresh salad. I’ve never enjoyed a meal more. The dal was particularly good. It changes every day so I was very pleased to try this one. The service isn’t particularly jolly but they were nice enough even if they don’t know anything about Punjabi food. The decor is basic and you share tables. We are travelling from London and we’re looking for authentic Indian food, we found Ranjits kitchen and thought to give it a try as it says on their website this Panjabi ( northern part of Indian cuisine) is not tempered as per western taste or watered down, as an Indian and have eaten at my Panjabi best friends home in India, I can confirm this restaurant provides real home made Panjabi taste. We felt at home. Would recommend 100000000000000000000% and definitely come back again if we are in Glasgow. We were four people and we ordered a thali, aloo paratha, makki roti and a saag, paneer pakora, Panjabi ginger cha and hot gulab jamun for dessert. Portion size was perfect. We’re so full at the end. The prices used to be quite reasonable but they've jumped on the bandwagon of increasing prices to an extent where it's not actually worth paying for. It's just mediocre portions of veg/spices/paneer yet you're being charged as if you're buying generously portioned meat dishes. Desserts are well overpriced too for small portions. Unfortunately we won't be back until the prices are reduced appropriately and better portions are given. Update: Disappointed the prices have increased even further e.g £8 for a "large" tub of spiced veg to takeaway? In a working class part of Glasgow? Come on now! Just greed, with little regard for customers. P.s. there's a certain member of staff, who could do with working on his manners/customer service skills and learning how to smile at the people putting money in their pocket. Rarely says hello, goodbye, please or thanks and seems like he'd rather be anywhere else but there. Possibly a superiority complex. Either way, staff should be making an effort to make their customers feel welcome, comfortable and appreciated. Kindly sort it out please.

Vegan dishes are disproportionately expensive compared to the vegetarian dishes. I always went to the restaurant with vegan friends so I wasn't aware of it until I went with a no vegan/veggie person. He ordered a vegetarian dish and I ordered a vegan one. They were both the same price and in the same section, so it's assumed they were similar dishes. My dish consisted of a small bowl of lentils and bread, while the vegetarian dish consisted of a small bowl of chickpeas, a bowl of salad, a good bunch of fried indian pastries, and several small plates of jam and yogurt. My friend didn't finish the dish and I was left hungry. We both pay the same. I talked to the waiter and he admitted it wasn't fair. Still, the vegan dish got no reduction and we paid full price for both dishes. I felt ripped off, I wouldn't value this small bowl of lentils at more than £2.5. Since that time, I have not returned nor will I.

Food is definitely great in quality and taste. But customer service is very bad. If you're fair skinned, expect these: 1. The moment you step into the place, they will ask you to sit and explain you menu. 2. They will put glasses of water on table for you. 3. They ask you about what kind of spice, variety you want. 4. They will ask you whether you want to start with a hot drink or have it at the end. If you're dark skinned, none of above will happen. If you're dark skinned, if you tell them you want to have coffee after eating food, they will roll eyes and look at you with frustration. They will give you menu and just you've to tell them what you want. They won't explain you about spice level, variety. They won't put water on the table for you even after serving spicy food to you. They won't ask you if you want a hot drink before or after eating food. If you don't believe this, take some dark skinned customers with you and enjoy the treatment based on skin colour. Such a lovely place in 21st century.

We had the worst experience today just now at this restaurant i.e 14th Oct 7.30pm with me & my family , the level of insult such restaurant can do to regular customer. Restaurant close time was 8.30pm, we were at 7.20pm at Desk for booking, upfront they said, they can't book table for you as we have to many bookings. We were with our little kid, were travelling by bus specially to visit here from far. No courtesy, No politeness to take even parcel or wait for some time, upfront Big No. How we should or a customer should behave. If u were customer and u face such thing with ur family.

I popped in last night and had a meal to remember. Took two of the specials. A delicious fresh aromatic vegetable biriani with a succulent tandoori leg of chicken on a creamy piquant sauce with potatoes. Can't remember the description but I will never forget the taste. Now looking for an excuse to return ASAP!

Quite simply Nakodar has to be the best Indian I’ve had in years. I visited on Saturday afternoon with my daughter and her boyfriend, who live just around the corner from the restaurant. The food, staff and ambiance were excellent This is my second visit and it definitely won’t be my last, very reasonably priced too Bravo Nakodar!!! 👌👏

Went for lunch on day off. It has very cozy and warm atmosphere. Ordered samosa chaat for starters and it was delicious and on point. For mains we has saag aloo and peshawari naan, naan was so delicious " no words, beyond awesome". Overall it was very nice experience and would definitely recommend and visit again soon.
