I have eaten in many Michelin-starred restaurants over the years, and whilst there is no denying that the quality of the cooking at Cail Bruich was superb, the portion sizes of the 'mains’ were ridiculously small. And I mean TINY. The two very small slices of duck and one bite-sized piece of fish presented to us as 'mains' at lunch were hugely disappointing. Of course, I know that portion size is no barometer whatsoever as to the quality of a meal, but really? At £90 per person for lunch I am sure you could spend another £2 or £3 to at least serve half a duck breast!

We opted for 5 course tasting menu. The service was excellent and the food exquisite. We tasted all the different ingredients and were sold on everything except we didn’t get enough Japanese milk bread. Without asking they gifted my husband a loaf to take home! There were little extras at start and finish and a performance to the delivery of each course which was pitched perfectly 💕

Cail Bruich knows how to make an occasion, or simply a meal, quite special. Before you even try the food, the service puts you at ease. (I arrived windblown, a bit lost, and past my reservation time, but since there was still a table free they were quite gracious and had me relaxed almost immediately.) I don't want to rave about every dish I had since the menu changes, but I could. Definitely opt for the wine pairings if it's in your budget, and don't expect the cheese course to be simple slices with oatcakes. Mine was a castel blue and apricot tart, perfectly balanced in a delicate shell.

7 course taster menu is absolutely for the open minded, you have to trust the design in each and every course and I think chef lorna and the excellent staff nailed that this evening. We sat up front in the chefs table, which made the experience that bit extra special for my girlfriend and I. A young gentleman brought us our first few courses / snacks, and they were out of this world. Full of flavour, and the way each cook delivered, presented and spoke about their ingredients shows the passion they have for what they do. Everyone, all staff were attentive friendly and made our night relaxed and thoroughly enjoyable. £160 per person plus drinks takes this into a pricey night for a meal, but on this special occasion, I deem it certainly worth the money.

I recently celebrated my birthday with lunch at Cail Bruich, and it was an amazing experience. The food was beautifully prepared, with fantastic flavors that made each dish stand out. We went for the wine pairing, which really enhanced the meal and added a nice touch to each course. The staff were friendly, polite, and clearly knew a lot about what they were serving. The restaurant itself has a lovely, comfortable atmosphere that makes you feel right at home. Everything about our visit was spot-on, and we’re already looking forward to coming back—and trying their sister venues too!

We visited Cail Bruich with friends to celebrate our Scotland trip and some birthdays in the group. We had an excellent time! Service throughout was exceptional - with the wine service in particular being a standout. The decor and atmosphere inside was definitely upscale, but more relaxed than other Michelin star restaurants we've done. The food itself was inventive and delicious, with the tomato and lobster dishes being highlights. If you're looking for a fine dining experience in Glasgow, I'd certainly recommend considering Cail Bruich.

We had the best table in the restaurant. Table for two on the righthand side. No other dinners near us. Tasting menu at a set price with extra snacks and post meal desert. The service, atmosphere and decor were great and seeing that Lorna was cooking in the kitchen made the experience even better as so many chefs open places then hire a head chef. Standout dishes for us were Raviolo and Poussin. Would recommend anyone visiting Glasgow to try Cali Bruich.

My partner and I attended the chef’s table for a celebratory dinner and had an incredible experience. Each course was a masterpiece of design, bursting at the seams with flavour. We loved exploring the Scottish twists on some of the dishes. I was a little apprehensive about the wine flight to match the dishes as it was almost as expensive as the meal itself however I was not disappointed. The choice of wines were delectable and excellent pairings. I would love to come again. Excellent

We visited for our wedding anniversary, the food was divine, I couldn’t fault a single gale course - we had the taster menu, we didn’t opt for the wine flight, instead going for a bottle recommended by the wine waiter, it was a great choice and worked perfectly with our food. For me something was missing though, having been to a number of Michelin starred restaurants, I thought the level of service wasn’t as good, don’t get me wrong, it was good, I just felt that waiting staff weren’t at the level I’ve experienced at other restaurants.

From the moment we arrived, we were treated with respect, warmth, and humor. This is a fine dining restaurant without a lot of the pretense that you might expect. From the first course to the last, surprises abounded, with each course topping the last. Additionally, the wine selection was eclectic, and well suited to accompany the first rate cuisine. I have always had an extraordinary respect for sommeliers. This guy tonight, I suspect, is a screenwriter. The way he introduced each bottle of wine, he gave pictures and plots, and also hid the plot, with a little bit of history and a touch of secrets, without forgetting the emotional entanglements. As he listened, he couldn't wait to taste the life in his mouth. spring. Follow each bottle of wine to lead the way, and each dish will appear beautifully. Glasgow has many fine sub Michelin restaurants (e.g. Eusabis ,the Gannet) but Cail Bruich is doing something different by producing this level of exquisite curated food. This is cooking at its most refined. The chef was trained at Andrew Fairlie’s 2 star restaurant and this food is of that standard - she may not get a second star because of the lack of bells and whistles but she deserves it. It may look fussy but it is all about the flavour. Not an everyday experience but a must try. They are doing Glasgow proud.

With only a day to spend in Glasgow, we have picked Cail Bruich as our fine dine experience for this city. As we needed to go back to Edinburgh that night, we opted for the 5 course menu to ensure we have enough time to catch the train. We were seated at a small table for 2 by the wall, not the most ideal even though I have booked a month in advance but its acceptable. Maybe someone else has booked even earlier. As a gentle reminder, the pictures on TripAdvisor is not the current setting and decor. They have probably renovated recently and is more refined as a Michelin star establishment. The tasting menu has a good mix of seafood and meat dishes but what impressed me was the bread. It has a strong buttery taste and served as if it just came out of the oven. While this may seem simple but not all restaurants can offer this. The scallops in kiwi sauce was also a very nice combination. Usually, I am not too fond of mixing fruit into the sauce or food but I found this to be surprisingly clean and refreshing. The veal with spring white truffle added added a taste of exquisite touch to this course, while the monkfish has a bit of Asian influence with the XO and ginger and was also cooked to perfection. Out of all the courses, I found the berkshire pork to be a bit overly fat. If a leaner cut was picked, I think it would be better. Overall a very pleasant meal, with a bottle of 2014 Olivier Jouan Burgundy Hautes- Cotes de Nuits, it brings the whole experience to another level. They also have a great selection of whiskies and a Macallan trolley with the spherical ice machine on display. Note: This restaurant requires a full payment upon reservation and while I have paid for 3 persons initially, we only had 2 dining ultimately. As there is a small admin charge for refund, I just asked them to keep the excess since I knew I would be opening wine. For others who may not be spending too much on drinks, you may want to confirm exact number of people before making a reservation.

This New Year’s Eve meal was the best meal of my life, better even than than (phenomenal) meals at restaurants with more Michelin stars… because the overall experience was just… perfect and yet personal. The night was magical and elevated and seamlessly comfortable… Was is it the whole staff working seamlessly as a unit? Chef Lorna McNee’s brilliance and love for Scotland? Glasgow itself? All of these, maybe. This is a long overdue review for a stunning, perfect New Year’s Eve tasting menu experience for my husband’s 50th birthday. I say experience rather than meal, because the entire night was expertly crafted and executed to ensure sublime culinary revelations while managing to feel perfectly intimate, comfortable, and warm. How is it possible to have so much work put into each dish and the highest quality of service and yet everything seem… relaxed and delightful? The wine pairing was the best any of us have ever had, even from 3 star Michelin restaurants, which is directly due to their phenomenal sommelier’s clear passion deep joy for finding wines that enhance the dishes while shining on their own- this is not a job, but a calling. I’ve had great sommeliers before, but this was a PERSONAL wine pairing in the best way- so much thought and love for the art went into every choice. Each dish was perfect and surprising yet also like, “OF COURSE this works!” for flavor combinations I would not have imagined. The attention to detail is far beyond a one-star restaurant, and I can’t figure out why it doesn’t have 2 Michelin stars. Here is an example of the level of care taken for the diners: my friend hates beets, which was the side dish to one small dish (I don’t remember details because I am writing this 4 months late), and not only did they substitute a different side, they made a complicated and completely different yet perfectly complementary side that must have taken quite a bit of labor on its own… for one person! Fine dining is an art form. An exacting art form that demands the best out of every single person involved in the evening, and this was a perfect execution of an experience that felt… effortless perfect and JOYFUL. What a way to ring in the new year, with an unforgettable experience and genuine warmth. You know it had to be something extraordinary if I am still thinking about it enough four months later to be compelled to write this review, typing it out with two fingers on my iPhone, no less. I would love to return to Glasgow and Cail Bruich. Both are tremendously underrated, even though they are both beloved.

The truth is, fine dining is pricey; however at Cail Bruich you never feel short changed in the least. You possibly won’t think this matters but even the cutlery, plates and glasses ooze class. I imagine the last of these is due to well planned & detailed staff requirements being met to ensure the diner has a flawless experience. Oh and there’s food too. Fantastic 5 course lunch - lovely combination of crab, mushroom, monkfish, venison and lemon/honey - difficult to choose a favourite course as they were all so good. Great service and wine to accompany.

It was my first time trying Cali Bruch , and all the dishes were amazing. I opted for the 7-course meal, and each dish surprised me with the best flavors. I left very satisfied.

I've been to many Michelin star restaurants ranging from 1 star to 3 star an I really mean it when I say that Lorna McNee and the Cail Bruich team have created an overall experience that is right up there with the best of them. Had a fabulous time as always. Thank you

We went for the 5 course Taster Dinner….absolutely superb cooking going on here, way, way above Glasgow’s other similarly 1 Michelin - star rated restaurant, Unalome(which I didn’t enjoy for lunch at all.) The interior photo on TA is out of date as the place as he been revamped and much improved for ambience IMO.Very stylish but tables feel quite intimate, even though the space is so small(which actually put me off for a long time.) Open kitchen in the background with the Head Chef herself clearly at the helm. Amuse Bouche were just exquisite…Fife Carrot didn’t sound promising but was unctuous.Hen of the Woods, an intense, exceptional mushroom dish with top notch black truffle, was a wow.Monkfish lightly BBQ’d was a revelation.Sauces with dishes were generous and intense in flavour. Can’t stand places that are skimpy on sauces. Venison course was just ok…the meat was great but in this case, the sauce didn’t appeal to me. Dessert was very enjoyable but Michelin/fine dining places never hit top marks for desserts in my book - TOO refined. But overall, a superb experience with several really memorable courses. Husband’s wine flight - the cheapest version of 3 on offer - he enjoyed because he loves trying different or unusual wines but the actual quality of the wines , we both thought, wasn’t great; two were almost ‘watery’ yet they were coming in at £17 a (very small) glass. Bit of a disappointment and, to be honest, a bit of a rip off.I do wish wine in these places matched food quality. However, very pleasant, professional staff, very quick serving of each course.Would we go back? Definitely.

You cant deny the standards on offer here. Everything is absolutely on point, so it has to be 5 stars. However for me theres a line to be drawn where the dining experience, no matter how special, becomes eclipsed by price.....especially an additional £50 service charge (for two people) which left me smarting somewhat.

Amazing food and service. Wine pairing was on point and we are keen to go back. I have been a few times before it achieved its Michelin star and twice now since. I’m always happy with the standard of food and the knowledge within the staff.

My husband booked this a surprise for my 60th birthday and it was fantastic. We are pescatarians and an adjustment to the tasting menu was made for us. The food was exceptional and the optional discovery pairing (£85) of lobster tail and claw done to match the tasting notes of a particular bottle of Krug, we shared this and it was one of my favourite courses. There was a card waiting for me on the table with birthday wishes and our menu said Happy Birthday, a really nice touch and an absolutely yummy amuse bouche before the tasting courses. This was worth coming through from Edinburgh for and made my birthday really special, we both loved it.

Visited Cail Bruich last night for our anniversary, and it was amazing. The atmosphere is very relaxed, and not as formal as other Michele starred restaurants. The food is local produce done in an imaginative way. We had the wine pairing and have tried wines from countries that I never knew made wine. A wonderful experience, well worth treating yourself

This was our first visit to Scotland, and our dining experience at Cail Bruich exceeded our expectations. We did mention to staff that we were planning to go to Shucks the next evening. Imagine our surprise when Lauren at Shucks presented us with complimentary drinks. She told us that she was informed by a Cail Bruich staff member about our visit to Shucks that evening. Not only did you surprise us, but the staff at Cail Bruich and Shucks made us feel very special. Thank you.

Great service and atmosphere. Loved the food - only downside was that two dishes had similar flavour profiles to when I last went in 2021- the main, and the last dessert. The main, which was grouse - just a bit too hearty for me, and was seasoned with 5 spice, which was similar to the duck dish in 2021. The dish was very similar to what I had at the Balmoral earlier in the year... and I had the same issue with that as in, it just needs something to break up the richness of the protein. The dessert was milk and honey, was yummy, but just very similar to the 2021 flavours. The real star of the show for me was the mushroom dish with brioche ... was excellent. The service was spot on as to be expected. Best wishes. M

The staff were knowledgeable, skilled, welcoming and professional while more than able to build rapport and add to the overall experience. The food was so full of flavour, variety and technical excellence that this is one of, if not the best, Michelin star restaurant that I have had the pleasure to enjoy. On track for that second star?

This place completely blew my expectations out of the water! The food continued to surprise us every course. Every wine pairing was thoughtfully chosen, and the sommelier, Simon, was very engaging and gave us as much context as we wanted. For an unassuming restaurant in what wouldn't be considered a foodie city, this place really punches above its weight.

I was there for the tasting menu with my wife for her birthday and it was simply superb. Every part of the experience from the hard working and knowledgeable staff, who make each of the exquisite and beautifully prepared courses, made to perfection from the extremely hard working and expert chefs in the kitchen with Lorna, with the just the right amount of discrete theatre at the table to make them both exciting and memorable. The attention to detail and craft for each dish component is amazing and the Michelin star is well deserved. We absolutely loved it and will certainly return. Fantastic.

Awfully rude attitude from what I assume was the manager/owner. I assume this as anyone else with such appalling customer service wouldn’t last a day. Went for work do and obviously expected to pay individually. The guy told us we cannot pay individually, as it’s too ‘complicated’. When advised he should have informed us of this prior to ordering, he said he had informed us - he only told us when we were ready to pay and not when we had arrived. So not just rude, a gaslighter as well. When we were then trying to work out the cost for each of us to avoid any of us falling short or owning money, I asked him how much the coffees were and he told me I’d have to find a menu and check myself. I will never be going back here again.

Just dined in Tiffney's tonight for the first time. What a fantastic restaurant. Food cooked to perfection, lovely, attentive and knowledgeable staff with impeccable service, will.most definitely go back. I had the warm bread with honey butter to start, amazing, my hubby had the risotto, beautiful. Both our steaks were perfectly cooked and my sticky toffee pudding was just right and not too heavy, my husband loved the cheeseboard . Would highly recommend a visit to this restaurant.

Speak to nights, close to Royal Concert Hall for Graduation ceremony and Bus station. Very friendly staff, had a nice snack lunch while waiting on room. Nice atmosphere with Bagpipes in the background, staff and visitors from all over. Huge cooked breakfast, piping hot just too much. 2nd day we decided on coached eggs. Walking distance to central shops and galleries. Nice restaurant nearby. Hotel bar closes about 8.30 pm so don't expect to sit and have a late drink. Comfy bed, shower ok, nice toiletries, kettle with tea coffee, biscuits, nice touch.

Went for the Sunday roast. Pros: Very attentive service, good quality meat, nice gravy, comfortable and warm setting to eat in. Negatives: Sparse amount of beef (only two very thin slices), plate was mostly filled with potatoes and turnip.
