May not have done enough research but I was under the impression that this was a bit like a deli with indoor seating. Turns out the stuff is all premade on a shelf like Tesco meal deal or Greggs sandwiches, they then just heat them up. Also 1 singular table.
Walked out within a minute of walking in without food as £7 for a prepackaged sandwich with no seating is expensive.
Good atmosphere and reasonable prices but we had a very poor experience. Ordered two coffees which then took around 10-15 minutes to arrive (they weren’t that busy) then within a couple of minutes of getting them another member of staff came round to tell us that they were closing in 10 minutes. They then proceeded to clear up around us making it very clear they wanted rid. Not impressed. If you do decide to visit, suggest you check how long they will give you to drink/eat. If we hadn’t have paid up front would have walked out.
A bit late for a review however myself and my family where here in Feb during a visit for the six nations. It was my highlight of the trip (maybe not the highlight Ireland did win). The steak was superb. Excellently cooked. I’m going back to Edinburgh next February and can’t wait to come back to this restaurant
Good service but food quality was less than average. Sushi was Ok but chicken teriyaki was bad, most of it was plain rice, chicken was scarce and tasteless, and there was an evident lack of vegetables. Sad if you consider they charge £9 per Teriyaki dish. We won’t come back.
Arrived at 20.40 the kitchen was due to close but they still accommodated us
We had the best steak pie ever compliments to the chef
Would highly recommend
Thank you
Nice hotel, but there are a few details that could be improved: you need to push the room door with force, or it won’t lock properly—in fact, it doesn’t lock at all unless pushed firmly.
The TV isn’t mounted quite straight—it has a slight tilt on the wall. Not major, but noticeable.
The safe box and fridge are not secured to the shelves, so when you pull the door, the entire fridge or safe box moves with it.

Crispy, golden batter, flaky fish, proper chips – the core components are excellent. The atmosphere is lively, and portions are generous. Importantly, they offer options suitable for Muslim dietary requirements, expanding their accessibility.
In short, Bertie's provides a solid, classic fish and chips experience with inclusive options. Recommended. Digestion protocols engaged.
