Lovely service active owner. Makes you feel very welcome.

It's really delicious! I came here almost every day when I was working here. The burrito is very big, one person can eat it completely (10,000 times better than the Greek burrito in the little blue car in Glasgow). The kebab is also very good, highly recommended! The 32-pound mixed platter is not recommended. The portion of grilled meat is not as large as other dishes ordered separately. It is recommended that two people share a plate. It is very cost-effective. The boss is a Greek, and he is super nice and enthusiastic!

I gave this review sometime ago, I meant to give 5 stars not 1! To the owner and staff - you guys do a great job and the food is always good.

Experience was fantastic, the owner was kind and attentive helping with any request. The food was just as good, they serve a generous portion but it seems to disappear just as fast as it is prepared and delivered to you. Couldn’t recommend more

We read the reviews and were eager to try Ola Kala. We ordered the mixed grill + a salad. We've not had such a disappointing meal in a very long time. The individual skewers of pork, chicken, minced lamb & chorizo...dry, dry, dry. Cardboard dry. Pretty sure pre made & reheated kind of dry. As for the potato wedges...a lukewarm, soggy, chewy mess. Premade & reheated to lukewarm.Not crispy at all. Gyros...nothing more than shaved kebab meat. Stodgy, thick yeeros type bread..argh. Best thing on the mixed grill plate were the 2 slices of grilled haloumi. As for the additional salad...gritty mixed leaves with a feta dressing. No olives, tomatoes, cucumber...not even a drizzle of olive oil to add flavour & sheen. Not one to waste food..good or bad (his generation did not waste) my husband ate most of the food but complained throughout the meal. We paid $34.50 for the lukewarm meal. Underwhelmed. It was just an awful, lukewarm, meal. After travelling for 12 hrs, this was our first meal in Edinburgh. We hope our dining experience will only improve.

Chips came out cold and broken with a sauce that was not piri piri and over priced. The Gyros was to be fair, not bad, as the meat was tasty, however I payed extra for halloumi and got one pathetic piece placed inside. A can of coke was 2.50. Ended up paying 16 pounds for a very regrettable experience. Tables were dirty as were menus and the only person there was chef and waiter....he was awful at both.

Small spot tucked away from the crowds with the most fantastic gyros I’ve ever had (plus insanely good hummus) — the meal was super cheap too and the portions were large! Loved that you could get a “taste pot” of the dips as well. Would absolutely recommend for a quick lunch!

We had our lunch break from the office there. We ordered all of us Pork Gyros with Halloumi and vegetables. Not only it was a big portion but it was really fresh and good. So tasty that I managed to finish it. No need for extra seasoning. Perfect the way it was.

Worst restaurant I've ever been to. The food arrived cold, the chicken and fries were almost black as if they had been refried the day before and were full of oil. The service is terrible, people are uneducated. I don't recommend it!

Enjoyed a delicious, casual dinner! Fresh ingredients and most welcoming owner who was very kind to my children. Recommend booking ahead given the small dining room; take away also an option. The Greek wine is very good and the portions are generous!

The pork gyros was amazing and it brought us back to Greece. Everything was fresh and full of flavour. The service was fast and friendly. We really enjoyed ourselves, just keep in mind the portions are huge! :D

Food was very flavoursome and large portion sizes. I got the lamb athens plaka kebabs with grilled tomatoes and my husband got the crispy chicken gyros with halloumi. We saw the sharing platter which looked incredible. We had a complimentary baklava each, also delicious. For dessert I had the Walnut pie with syrup and he had the pastry custard roll which he described as a mix of a baklava and custard slice and easily could have eaten more if not so full from main. I also had the greek blood orange soft drink which was sharp and zingy which complemented the food. They have a good selection of greek drinks which I'd like to try out next time. Will definitely go back, reasonably priced for the quality and amount of food.

Ordered halloumi Wrap. Can’t describe how delicious it is.

Food was really good (especially for the price, those portions were incredible) and the guy who served us was very nice. Only downside was that it was a bit empty, though that may just be the fact that it was a miserable rainy day when we went.

Delicious Gyros, the best in the UK, for sure

Such a lovely experience! Great vegetarian options - the veggie burger wrap was very tasty. We had baklava and galakto boureko for pud and they were so so delicious! Service was wonderful too. Highly recommend.

Really tasty food at great prices. Food is made quickly and we could order it to collect. Also had great customer service when we had a couple of issues with our order. They sorted everything quickly and even gave us free dessert, which was also delicious 😍

This is a review regarding to our experience and should not be taken with complete seriousness. Food was alright, but small portions regarding to the two salads. The half grill mix was very good, especially the sauce. If the food was cheaper than it would have matched more its quality. The service was not the best as a staff member was being a bit rude, and especially made us uncomfortable with the amount of touching and moving our plates, while we were just about to eat. Other than it's worth checking it out as maybe your experience might end up being better than ours.

Very well-made gyros. I have tried them before but it was the first time for my friend and she fell in love with it. Says it’s better than shawarma or kebab.

A classic example of ‘don’t judge a book by its cover’ On first appearance it may not seem that inviting, but wait until you see the presentation and taste the food. Me and my partner absolutely loved the food and when ordering we found the staff to be honest (Avoiding us over purchasing on food). Highly enjoyed it

Sorry to say but I just received a delivery and it's absolutely terrible. The potatoes taste as if they are 3 days old and the meat very dry. I would not recommend this food...

I had read so many positive reviews but was really disappointed with the food. I enjoy eating Greek, whether in Greece or elsewhere, but this was below my expectations. Arrived at midday when they just opened and had the saltiest gyros I've ever had. Chips had been microwaved. The chap who served us was friendly, but otherwise couldn't recommend. I sent almost the whole plate back and wasn't asked at any point whether either of us had enjoyed the food. Reading the responses from the owners to others leaving less than favourable reviews leaves me sad. Please don't bother replying to this.

Very disappointing-- I should have been clued in when asking for "spanakopita" and the server didn't understand what I wanted ("you mean the spinach and feta pie?"). It arrived and it was like floppy, dense leather sandwich that I couldn't even cut into. If this was once a good Greek restaurant, it isn't anymore.

Had a wrap, quick and tasty for a reasonable price. Very kind waiter, bottle of water free of charge. Forgot to include the grilled pepper I asked for, but didnt charge for it and still go for 5*.

This is a lovely small restaurant. The food was amazingly delicious. We were a group of four and shared Halloumi and Pittas with four different dips and a mixed grilled meat platter. Everything was delicious and service was fantastic, I would suggest make a booking, but they also do take away and uber.

From what I saw the food looked good. The attitude of the staff from the moment we stepped in the door was awful. It was fairly busy but we were made to feel unwelcome outsiders. We ordered. We were told to wait on the street outside. We waited. We waited. We waited. For over 20mins. They then bought out the wrong food and thrust it at me. After checking inside he came back and said order was done wrong and we would need to reorder. No apology. No offer of the original order at a discounted rate just a grunt. We declined to order again as had a show to get to and couldn’t wait another 20 mins. Left a lot to be desired.

Rude owner and they couldn't even sort 2 chicken gyro wraps out properly. Much better off going to a normal kebab shop.

I love Greek food and I was not disappointed by this place. We had a gyros and it amazing. The wine, fantastic, the pita and feta and dips were out of this world. A lot of people complain about the service in reviews here, it’s not something I found and were treated amazingly. I am very happy to take friends and family here and enjoy the authentic experience. If you like Olives, get them here. Just trust me, GET THE OLIVES. Thanks, I will be back

The person who took my order at the shop was very rude and had this terrible attitude even though the menus are attrocious to read for a customer. I ordered my food for take out and waited inside until it was finished. During that time I saw other to go orders being boxed and given out with plastic wear without the customer requesting it (common sense if you're getting food to go is that you need utensils). When it was time for me to recieve my food, the server was just wierd and rude with me and made it awkward to stay in there a minute longer than I needed. I didn't realize until I got to my hotel that the food contained no napkins or plastic wear for eating which is silly to say the least considering they gave it to others without it being requested. Would not recommend this place to anyone.

A very disappointing experience for me, the attitude of the staff made our whole family feel discriminated against, it was very difficult and we were afraid to talk the whole time. We were tourists and didn't know much about the shop, and asked questions and suggestions during the ordering process. As a result, the staff here was impatient and had a very cold and forceful attitude. I would have confronted him, but my family were too scared of the restaurant 's attitude to say anything. It's the first time I've been treated like this in all the years I've been in the UK and it was so disappointing. If you are relatively new to this shop, please go round as they don't have the patience to wait for you and give you a smile to make you feel comfortable. My brother (6 years old) has low blood sugar and had a very hard time walking all the way to find this shop, he was about to faint out, we were very worried and gave him a packet of desserts we had bought at the tourist stop on the way (we didn't know this shop had the same desserts, we are very sorry about that), being reminded of this we were very sorry for packing up the little desserts. And said we would be more than happy to buy desserts from this shop and expressed our sincere apologies.

Disappointing food and staff…. Just wasted my money

I won’t coming back again. The food was okay but the sir taking our order who is the one been in front, was completely rude not to say other that even violent. I won’t come here anymore and I hopefully no one has to go with me and my friends went in this place.

What a fantastic experience this was. I booked up for my wife and I for a bite to eat on Saturday 6/7/24. We were a bit early for our time slot but we were greeted very nicely and offered a seat at the window. Please don't be put off by this looking and feeling like a café. The service and quality of the food is second to none. Price was very good for the quality of service and food and I would highly recommend that you pay Ola Kala a visit next time you come to Edinburgh. Excellent

This is possibly the worst Greek food I have ever eaten. I actually binned everything but the Greek salad and dips.

Yummy food with healthy portions

This place is so dirty, absolutely disgusting. I accidentally saw the kitchen after I ate 🤢if I only knew I would just leave. Cold garlic bread (it’s a Tesco pre baked baguette soaked in oil with garlic). Edible tzatziki at least. Cold, baked in the morning potatoes, cold pita. No idea how this place has so many good reviews. It has nothing to do with proper Greek food. Stuff is friendly. Avoid.
