Not nearly good as it used to be. Disappointing really. Not bad just not very memorable anymore.

Really tasty food at great prices. Food is made quickly and we could order it to collect. Also had great customer service when we had a couple of issues with our order. They sorted everything quickly and even gave us free dessert, which was also delicious 😍

This is a review regarding to our experience and should not be taken with complete seriousness. Food was alright, but small portions regarding to the two salads. The half grill mix was very good, especially the sauce. If the food was cheaper than it would have matched more its quality. The service was not the best as a staff member was being a bit rude, and especially made us uncomfortable with the amount of touching and moving our plates, while we were just about to eat. Other than it's worth checking it out as maybe your experience might end up being better than ours.

Very well-made gyros. I have tried them before but it was the first time for my friend and she fell in love with it. Says it’s better than shawarma or kebab.

A classic example of ‘don’t judge a book by its cover’ On first appearance it may not seem that inviting, but wait until you see the presentation and taste the food. Me and my partner absolutely loved the food and when ordering we found the staff to be honest (Avoiding us over purchasing on food). Highly enjoyed it

Sorry to say but I just received a delivery and it's absolutely terrible. The potatoes taste as if they are 3 days old and the meat very dry. I would not recommend this food...

I had read so many positive reviews but was really disappointed with the food. I enjoy eating Greek, whether in Greece or elsewhere, but this was below my expectations. Arrived at midday when they just opened and had the saltiest gyros I've ever had. Chips had been microwaved. The chap who served us was friendly, but otherwise couldn't recommend. I sent almost the whole plate back and wasn't asked at any point whether either of us had enjoyed the food. Reading the responses from the owners to others leaving less than favourable reviews leaves me sad. Please don't bother replying to this.

Very disappointing-- I should have been clued in when asking for "spanakopita" and the server didn't understand what I wanted ("you mean the spinach and feta pie?"). It arrived and it was like floppy, dense leather sandwich that I couldn't even cut into. If this was once a good Greek restaurant, it isn't anymore.

Great real food made by real people, great staff, a very good experience from a tourist point of view. If I come back to Edinburgh, it is a must.

Had a wrap, quick and tasty for a reasonable price. Very kind waiter, bottle of water free of charge. Forgot to include the grilled pepper I asked for, but didnt charge for it and still go for 5*.

Absolute hidden gem of good food in Edinburgh. Really can't beat this place for food quality, fast, reasonably priced greek food. Quality stuff. Friendly staff too

This is a lovely small restaurant. The food was amazingly delicious. We were a group of four and shared Halloumi and Pittas with four different dips and a mixed grilled meat platter. Everything was delicious and service was fantastic, I would suggest make a booking, but they also do take away and uber.

From what I saw the food looked good. The attitude of the staff from the moment we stepped in the door was awful. It was fairly busy but we were made to feel unwelcome outsiders. We ordered. We were told to wait on the street outside. We waited. We waited. We waited. For over 20mins. They then bought out the wrong food and thrust it at me. After checking inside he came back and said order was done wrong and we would need to reorder. No apology. No offer of the original order at a discounted rate just a grunt. We declined to order again as had a show to get to and couldn’t wait another 20 mins. Left a lot to be desired.

Rude owner and they couldn't even sort 2 chicken gyro wraps out properly. Much better off going to a normal kebab shop.

I love Greek food and I was not disappointed by this place. We had a gyros and it amazing. The wine, fantastic, the pita and feta and dips were out of this world. A lot of people complain about the service in reviews here, it’s not something I found and were treated amazingly. I am very happy to take friends and family here and enjoy the authentic experience. If you like Olives, get them here. Just trust me, GET THE OLIVES. Thanks, I will be back

The person who took my order at the shop was very rude and had this terrible attitude even though the menus are attrocious to read for a customer. I ordered my food for take out and waited inside until it was finished. During that time I saw other to go orders being boxed and given out with plastic wear without the customer requesting it (common sense if you're getting food to go is that you need utensils). When it was time for me to recieve my food, the server was just wierd and rude with me and made it awkward to stay in there a minute longer than I needed. I didn't realize until I got to my hotel that the food contained no napkins or plastic wear for eating which is silly to say the least considering they gave it to others without it being requested. Would not recommend this place to anyone.

A very disappointing experience for me, the attitude of the staff made our whole family feel discriminated against, it was very difficult and we were afraid to talk the whole time. We were tourists and didn't know much about the shop, and asked questions and suggestions during the ordering process. As a result, the staff here was impatient and had a very cold and forceful attitude. I would have confronted him, but my family were too scared of the restaurant 's attitude to say anything. It's the first time I've been treated like this in all the years I've been in the UK and it was so disappointing. If you are relatively new to this shop, please go round as they don't have the patience to wait for you and give you a smile to make you feel comfortable. My brother (6 years old) has low blood sugar and had a very hard time walking all the way to find this shop, he was about to faint out, we were very worried and gave him a packet of desserts we had bought at the tourist stop on the way (we didn't know this shop had the same desserts, we are very sorry about that), being reminded of this we were very sorry for packing up the little desserts. And said we would be more than happy to buy desserts from this shop and expressed our sincere apologies.

Disappointing food and staff…. Just wasted my money

I won’t coming back again. The food was okay but the sir taking our order who is the one been in front, was completely rude not to say other that even violent. I won’t come here anymore and I hopefully no one has to go with me and my friends went in this place.

Amazing gyros. Definitely recommend.

What a fantastic experience this was. I booked up for my wife and I for a bite to eat on Saturday 6/7/24. We were a bit early for our time slot but we were greeted very nicely and offered a seat at the window. Please don't be put off by this looking and feeling like a café. The service and quality of the food is second to none. Price was very good for the quality of service and food and I would highly recommend that you pay Ola Kala a visit next time you come to Edinburgh. Excellent

This place is so dirty, absolutely disgusting. I accidentally saw the kitchen after I ate 🤢if I only knew I would just leave. Cold garlic bread (it’s a Tesco pre baked baguette soaked in oil with garlic). Edible tzatziki at least. Cold, baked in the morning potatoes, cold pita. No idea how this place has so many good reviews. It has nothing to do with proper Greek food. Stuff is friendly. Avoid.

Couple from Dallas Texas here. We chanced upon this establishment on our walk back to Voco Haymarket. Delicious food! Great service, and reminded us of our trip to Greece. Ate there again the following day. Highly recommend.

Very rich flavor of the food, everything felt fresh and well prepared. The attention of the manager/owner was excellent and attentive.

Simple place with limited seating, don’t go for the atmosphere, but the food is excellent, best baklava I’ve ever had.

I had a mixed chicken and pork gyro with grilled peppers added. The pita was fresh and overall the pita was good but needed some spices. I added salt and the ground red pepper, that was at the table, to it. I would go back to try a kebab plate.

The food was absolutely delicious - I had a chicken gyro with added halloumi and it was really good. The service was really quick, friendly, and attentive, will definitely be returning!

I’m from Utah where this is a strong Greek presence and a lot of great Greek food. And Ola Kala exceeded expectations. After dinner I left thinking about when I can come back. I got the Gyro plate which was more than enough to make me full (after the baklava of course) and my wife got the simple gyro and both were amazing. Also great prices and great quantities.

Raised in a Greek Neiborgood in NY and now living in Ireland with a lack of Greek resteraunts, this by far is the best Greek Restaurant I have ever been to. Reminded me of my chikdhood and I will admit having flown from Cork and back in the same day just to come here. Anyone from the States and anywhere else wanting a traditional greek meal definately make this a part of your Edinburgh stay. This place needs a Michelin Star.

I've eaten here before and it was nice, but I just had it delivered and it was inedible. Very fast delivery, but I was clearly served the dregs of the day. The meat was OK at best, and the potatoes were so hard and dry I'm surprised I didn't break a tooth. Picture is of a roast potato if you can believe it.

An important part of my life here in Edinburgh. Kostas has succeeded in creating a Greek kafeneío in Haymarket, a truly authentic experience of Greek hospitality and food. Many Greek restaurants etc make good food, but fall short of the warmth and casual professionalism that Ola Kala provides so effortlessly. My vegetarian friend and I have been regulars at Ola Kala since about October. The amount of food we end up ordering is pretty comical, but it's a testament to how good everything is that we struggle to narrow it down. Having lived on Paros for a while, I know that Ola Kala is somewhere I can take people to introduce them to Greek food knowing they'll have the best first experience (short of actually going to Greece) of not only Greek food, but of Greek filoxenía (hospitality). Χρόνια πολλά στα Όλα Καλά!
