Amazing food and service, with a great atmosphere to boot!

The 1/2 duck tasted horrific and was overly battered. The little meat on the fat and batter tastes old. The sauces had almost no taste and the rice was so plain that you wouldn't know what you were eating

Food was amazing but had read on their website about the quality of service - it really was. Staff were very busy but still very attentive (dropped my napkin and it was picked up and replaced before I even noticed), and friendly. Great value too, well worth a visit.

Best Vietnamese restaurant in town, run by a Vietnamese lovely lady reminds me of my grandmother ❣️ They also sell a lot of artwork and crafts hand bags. I got a lovely one for myself. You can come to eat and visit the gallery.

Nice little Vietnamese restaurant with authentic food. We just did a walk-in and they were able to accommodate us, the service is super efficient and friendly. Would highly recommend.

Nice place, very beautiful decoration inside. However, the food is not really meet my expectations - I ordered Pho and it came with nearly plain soup, not rich in flavour at all. For the first time I did not finish a Pho soup :/

I got the fried spring rolls and sunset curry. Both were excellent. Not the cheapest place. But the food is top notch. Plenty to eat too in fairness.

Very disappointed as an owner my apartment was let out without my knowledge. Subsequently I was refused entry. This was a timeshare and the minority owner is trying to turn it into a hotel. Standard is falling.

Such AMAZING Vietnamese food😋😋 Everything tasted delicious and the Pho is perfect with the cold Scottish weather. I highly recommend to book if it’s on the weekend due to too many people wanting to dine there :)

BYOB - quick - big portion - higher price One of the best Vietnamese food I tasted so far in the north east. We ordered the raw beef pho and bun cha. However their Vietnamese coffee was average. The price is slightly higher than other restaurants in similar category, however their portion is decent. Was crowded when we were there but didn’t need to wait long. They do not serve beer or wine but you can bring your own bottle.

Ordered Pho with prawns and a half roast duck with rice and sauces. The pho had a decidedly funny taste, and was really unpleasant to eat, and I left over half. Although it looked like there were a lot of prawns, they had all been cut in half, so the 7-8 prawn’s looked like 15-16. The worst part was my wife’s meal of half roast duck with sauces and rice. The duck was just a very small breast, still with the skin on, which had obviously been dipped in something then deep fried till it was hard and nearly inedible. Crunchy and tough meat. She barely managed two slices, with a very tasteless sauce and a few mouthfuls of rice. She left the rest. We complained to the waitress, and they only took off half of the £18 price for this. We should have realised the food was not going to be great as a Chinese couple a few table from us were also complaining about their meal. Two girls next to us also left a lot of food. We would not return to this restaurant.

Having a bowl of classic Vietnamese pho in the cold and windy Scottish weather is so happy and satisfying! It warms your heart! The Vietnam House Restaurant has always been one of my favourite restaurants in Edinburgh. It is not only a tremendous Asian restaurant but brilliant among all kinds of dining places in this city. I particularly like the pho and grilled meat they serve; they are just so tasty. Also, if you are a dessert person, you will definitely find something nice and interesting on their menu. If you are looking for great food, friendly people, and a comfortable, exotic environment, this is the place!

This is a top recommendation for authentic Vietnamese food in Edinburgh. Flavours took me back to the 4 years we lived there. Staff were friendly and attentive. The manager went out of his way to make us feel comfortable.

OK aber nicht so gut wie erwartet. Die heiße Pfanne war nicht heiß. Getränke aus der Plastikflasche. Ambiente war kühl und nicht so gemütlich.

I had a solo dinner here and was pleased with the food and how friendly the staff were. The service was impeccable. I order the chicken pho, but ended up with the spicy version. Luckily for me I like spice! The broth was delicious and the meal was fresh. The summer rolls were definitely not the best I’ve had and were quite chewy sadly. However, the dipping sauce was tasty. I’d recommend this place for a quick, tasty dinner.

Authentic Vietnamese cafe with tasty food and very friendly staff. Portions are really big 🙂 However, do not expect it to look like a luxury 5 star restaurant, the interior is pretty simple.

If you are looking for authentic Vietnamese food, I would recommend this place. I had "Bun Bo Hue" and iced coffee. They were as tasty as the ones we have in Vietnam. Loved them!

The plate my food was on had a chip out of it and a crack across the middle, I was so hungry i thought i would just try and enjoy the food, till my partners dish arrived with a bowl of rice, the first spoon of rice had a long black hair hanging dangling from it, when this was shown to the waiter he took it away and replaced it. We finished our food and we were not offered any discount or even a complimentary coffee or desert. This place needs professionals to sort out the disgusting toilets area. Shambles !

What a little gem in the West End of Edinburgh. Sublime food and a lovely atmosphere made for faultless solo experience. The only thing other people need to be aware of is that it is non-licensed restaurant, so you need to bring your own bottle!!

From the outside looks interesting. Very busy restaurant and in a poor condition Clients waiting, some left. Not organized, the responsible person for this was treated the employees bad. Had PHO noodle soup with Tofu and a dessert. Food was more or less. Then I see something that is absolut a no go and in my country close the restaurant. They had a bucket on the floor with their noodles that they took with there hands directly in the wok when they made the dishes.

We ordered take out and everything we ordered came out super good! All the dishes were neatly and tightly wrapped and the portions were perfect. Highly recommend!

Beef mixup : Non beef eaters, beware Last night I went to this place just before closing, I decided to try their spicy vermicelli noodle soup with prawns. To my dismay, I was served a beef noodle soup instead. After a polite complaint, the staff corrected the order. To my surprise, there were still traces of beef in it. This back-and-forth led to me returning the dish. Surprisingly, they opted to charge me half price instead of offering an apology. Worst dining experience.

This is traditional Vietnamese food, staff are very friendly, helpful and accommodating. The food was delicious, they can cater for gluten and milk intolerances. It is just round the corner from Haymarket Train Station and Trams. It was very busy so I recommend booking a table. I have been here twice and will be returning.

Met friends for a catch-up and really enjoyed the food and atmosphere. Restaurant is small but good for a catch up chat. Good service and food came quickly. Have to recommend the caramelised monkfish. There's no alcohol license but you can byob for £3 a head.

On 3rd September 2023, my wife and I visited to this restaurant for our lunch. All foods were very good. All staffs were also very good. This restaurant was very comfortable. Looking forward to visiting again soon. Thank you!

Oh wow was this an awesome find. We got into Edinburgh mid afternoon on a Sunday which is always a tough time to find things that are open. We love Vietnamese food so this was an easy decision. We started with the vegetable spring rolls and then I moved on to the steamed chicken/shrimp/mushroom glutinous rice in lotus leaf. The hubs went with the chicken pho. I’d never had my dish before and I will be looking for this back in the states. Service was really fast and friendly and I’d absolutely recommend coming here if you are in Edinburgh.

Must-try authentic Vietnamese food in Edinburgh near Haymarket station! We were visiting from Canada where vietnamese food in Vancouver and Toronto is some of the best and I have to say that the food in Vietnam House is comparable, if not better, than anything I've ever had! We ordered the crispy roast duck and pork no. 22 which were both wonderfully flavorful and cooked perfectly. Both meats were tender and juicy and had us wanting more. The decor inside was also like being transported into Saigon! Would highly recommend to anyone around Haymarket station and would highly recommend both dishes.

This spot is a gem. It was like eating at the owner's house and the food was authentic, fresh, and can cure what ales you. The staff seems to know when you might want/need something before you even ask for it. We were very impressed. It is a small restaurant and it is recommended to make a reservation.

We had the vegan pho and it was DELICIOUS. Would absolutely go out of my way to go to this little restaurant again.

Made reservation, gave the table to the wrong people, had to wait 35min outside for no reason. Don't know why they even take reservation. + the funny thing was that we were 5 and only got 3 plates because they ran out of plates lol also got the drinks we ordered when we were done with eating mains

Overall, a bit disappointed. My wife and daughters meals were fine, but i got the Lotus Rice – now, I am not an expert, but I imagine it is not supposed to smell stale straight away – and when I tried to unwrap the ‘lotus leaf’ quite sure that it shouldn’t have had burn marks on it. very little of the rice in the package was easily edible – I had to put some effort into digging it out with the spoon – and a good portion of it was so dry, I couldn’t eat it at all – even banging on it with my spoon didn’t dislodge a single grain – about 20% of it was dried together solidly and inedible. I asked the server if it was ‘supposed to be like this’ and she said ‘Yes, that happens when we microwave it’ – so…not steamed, then. As I say, overall disappointed – substantially below the standard I would expect.

A great place for a meal with friends. Generous portion sizes - I was pretty full after my Vietnamese spring roll starter which was lovely and fresh. Staff were friendly but not pushy which was great. My friends also enjoyed their meals, I think we'll be back!

This is the best proper decent Vietnam food I ONLY recommend in the UK!

Service was terrible. 1 glass between 2 for water. Served our main course on top, yes on top of our starter. I said to the waiter that it would be a good idea to clear away our dirty dishes first. Plonker!!! Spring roll was tasteless as a previous review said. Noodles tasteless too. Hardly any protein in the food. We came away angry and hungry. If you are quite happy to fill yourself up with tasteless noodles and rice then you will be ok. I'm away to get a pizza or Chinese Seriously Disappointed.

This is the best Vietnam food I’ve ever eaten in UK! We ordered No.27 with pork and pho with chicken, that’s ** delicious!!! I’ll recommend it to all my friends!

This was our second visit to this restaurant. Agree the food is tasty and its well supported by the Asian community which is always a good sign. Two things bothered me this time, firstly the prices have jumped significantly. Our lunch for 2 was expensive and that included a main course each, one shared started and 2 soft drinks. Also when we left I really wanted to use the bathroom. It is situated where they prepare the drinks and can be seen from many tables, I couldn’t bring myself to use it. It really should be moved.

쌀국수, 매운국수, 치킨볶음밥 시켰는데 다 맛있었다. 캐리어도 들고갔는데 잘 보관해 주심. 2023 스코티쉬 어워드에서 상도 받은듯? 계산할때 사탕도 주셔서 더 행복하게 식사를 마무리했다ㅎㅎ

We had a lovely meal here last night, we phoned up to book a table. I’m glad we did as it was a fairly busy night. The food was amazing and the lady owner was lovely as she held our 4 month old baby whilst we ate dinner which was very much appreciated. Highly recommend visiting. Thankyou

First time here in Edinburgh and we decided to go for this Vietnamese restaurant. We made reservations. Many Asian people found there way to this restaurant and with a good reason. The service and food is very good. Extremely fresh ingredients, quick and all in a good price range. I can recommend it to everybody.

Very good pho & grilled chicken vermicelli (bun?). The curry is a bit of a mix bag... spciy with a delay hit of the spice (which I ilke) but too creamy for my other half. Undecided on the briased lemongrass chicken... as it is the first time I had a very spicy lemongrass chicken... not sure if i was given the curry chicken instead but very moist & favourful.

Frequently visited here in 2021, came back recently and found everything just kept awesome! All food is delicious, and fried spring rolls is my favorite. Really recommend everyone to have a try!

Good food! Freaked me out that I wasn't able to get the bill for about 20 minutes, also the tables are very close to each other. Felt a bit intimidating to sit that close to a stranger

Very pricey for a bowl of vermicelli egg roll & grilled meat, flavor wasn’t authentic Vietnamese. The dish has no herbs such as mint, coriander and basil.

Ordered online on Friday night, no confirmation email or site confirmation but payment was taken. I called and asked why no confirmation, they said system was down and no order had come through. I told them payment had been taken and she just repeated that I would have to reorder. I did not as I had already spent over £30. I assumed their broken system would refund the payment as the order was not confirmed (I have screenshots of this). I then received a confirmation email after my requested collection time and after I had made other arrangements (more than 90 mins after my original order and follow up call). I called them, assuming they would rectify. They refused to refund, didn't acknowledge the ordering system was down and repeatedly hung up on me. Took my money though. Avoid unless you are happy being ripped off.

The staff are so lovely but unfortunately the food didn’t match the service. Most mains are £17-18 and they really didn’t match up to the price. My vermicelli with grilled chicken didn’t have much flavour. The fried spring rolls however were tasty and flavourful. Really nice people but unfortunately not worth the cost for us.

They put chicken in the vegetarian lotus rice option - this has happened twice. Once when I dined in and once when I ordered online via deliveroo. Wouldn’t recommend going if you are veggie as they put chicken in the “vegetarian” options. Tried to request a refund for this via deliveroo and it was refused so I wouldn’t waste money on ordering food from here again
