The Fox & Faun in Edinburgh, City of

My first night solo in Scotland did not disappoint! Went to Fox and Faun for dinner and drinks, food was great but service was even better, all the staff was so friendly and gave me recommendations to make the most of my time here- I definitely plan to come back again before I leave. I highly recommend the Lola cocktail - it was delicious and topped with cotton candy!

Dan was great. Good vibes all round. Class pub. Great music. Great drinks, will definitely be back, DAN DAN DAN!!! What a man!!!

Guys, try the Pulled Pork Burger with extra cheese... still dreaming of it! Also the Haggis Balls (photo) were absolutely delicious! Lovely staff, helpful, friendly and so funny. We were on a 4 day trip to Edinburgh and we found our "local pub". Already miss it! Drinks, food, staff, people - it was absolutely perfect. We felt like home and we will definitely come back as soon as we are in Edinburgh again! Thank you guys for the great time!

So wanting to leave a good review here but we were let down badly on Sunday afternoon… food order was lost, rushed to replace as I had a flight to catch, asked for takeaway pots, some food missing. Not good, and genuine mistake I’m sure but no offer to make amends.. I had to run, and got a couple of chips after 70minutes wait. Student got the available food, and said it was delish….😬

Lively pub with grub and friendly staff. Food was good value and freshly cooked meaty burger.

We loved this bar when we were in Edinburgh for a weekend break. Great atmosphere and staff really friendly (especially Kim who served us). We arrived mid afternoon and ordered some of the sharing platters. They hit the spot that's for sure! We went back for drinks the following night. A great night's entertainment. Would definitely recommend. 🥰

Nice pub but nothing special. Didn’t have food but it looked nice

Wow - table needed cleared and staff member was asked if they could clear to allow for it to be used. Was met with F@ck Sake I’m on my break I will be eating a cold burger now. Suggest if staff are on a break they are not behind the bar. Overall good tunes and vibe apart from one staff member who let the place down.

We stumbled onto this pub because it was on the Main Street and it was the best thing we could do. It had so many options and had music playing. The food was so tasty and filling, they had mulled wine and other local lagers which really made it a good experience.

Awesome food, great service. It was slammed on a Friday afternoon before Christmas, but they did a great job. Definitely a hit with the locals! Would recommend.

Fuimos a tomar un café después de comer y tiene muy buena pinta para desayunos, comidas o cenas. El sitio es muy grande y la decoración muy chula.

Soup and homemade fries are lovely in here and they do great alcohol free cocktails

We visited Edinburgh for a few days this week, staying near the Haymarket area and we are so pleased we found this place! We are veggie and vegan and found the food here gorgeous so made sure to get breakfast here twice during our 2 night stay. Not only was the food beautiful, but the service was just perfect. Our server, Gemma was so personable and funny. Could clearly read us as people and even fitted in a few jokes for us during our time. My partner was also desperate for a specific cocktail that he couldn't find anyway in pubs we visited and Gemma went out of their way to make it for us as best they could! We really loved everything here, the food, drink, decor, music, vibe, everything. Will definitely return and encourage people to go in Edinbugh!

Went here for a couple drinks with friends. Seems very badly managed. Staff drinking then going behind bar. Not very professional. They seem to be friendly with local nuisances. Place used to be enjoyable but not anymore. Won’t be coming back.

Pub très sympa, Ce n'est pas de la haute gastronomie, mais on y mange super bien. Personnel très sympa, très bonne ambiance et tarif très raisonnable pour Édimbourg.

Great lively pub with fantastic staff and excellent food. Well worth a visit. Wednesday quiz night was an hilarious bonus!

Barstaff were friendly and had a bit of banter with them. The food was lovely. We had a few drinks and overall we really enjoyed our evening. It was chilled out and we all got to have a great catch up.

Schicker Pub in toller Lage. Wir hatten online reserviert und es hat alles super geklappt, alle Mitarbeiter waren sehr freundlich und der Service schnell, obwohl der Laden am Montagabend sehr voll war. Die Burger mit Pommes und Bier waren lecker, relativ teuer für unser Empfinden, aber wo ist es das momentan nicht. Alles in allem einen Besuch wert.

Stopped by for some appetizers and a drink at this pub and I'm glad I did. The environment was lively and yet relaxing. The apps were filling enough and the staff was attentive.

Schöner gemütlicher Pub der an Shandwick PL lieg.Bus und Bahn Verbindung wenige Gehminuten entfernt. Bei unseren Besuch war der Pub sehr gut besucht. Getränke wurden schnell serviert und auch das Essen wurde recht schnell serviert. Eine gute Auswahl an Speisen und Getränke. Bei größeren Gruppen würde ich empfehlen einen Tisch zu reservieren. Fazit: Immer wieder gerne

I wasn’t looking for somewhere to have dinner, I was just going to my hotel but passing by the fox and the faun and feeling it’s mood makes it irresistible to step in. Once there I remember a great vegetarian burger and a paint of Guinness surrounded by people having fun and a warm crew. 100% recommended

Nice atmosphere where locals stream in for a pint or two. Food and drinks were alright. Nice place if you want to see how the locals mingle!

À quelques pas du centre historique, authentique pub écossais qui sert un excellent "Fish and Chips" de la taille d'une petite planche de surf. Tout le monde participait à une sorte de loto blind test musical. Ambiance garantie et service très sympathique.

Had a great meal and drinks, and the staff on the floor and behind the bar were all very attentive, which added to the overall experience and a good rating.

Called in for a drink, we went to sit outside at the back and somebody had been sick so we came back in. Not the pubs fault but wasn’t a pleasant experience. However for a city pub very reasonably priced.

Paramos por casualidad y nos gustó tanto el trato y el ambiente del local que decidimos quedarnos a comer. Gran variedad de cervezas y comida exquisita. Si eres turista español te sentirás como en casa ya que el chico que nos ha atendido habla perfectamente castellano y además es súper atento y simpático. Tanto si eres de Edimburgo como si estás de vacaciones, te recomiendo que vengas!

Such a wonderful pub! All the staff are truly lovely. The cocktails are delightful, many thanks to Vikka (hope I'm spelling that right) for the amazing service. The decor is also very cute. Seems like a lively place with events on every week. But most of all its definitely a place that cares for those who come through their doors.

This is the second time that my husband and I have been here with our dog and we couldn't recommend it highly enough 🤗 The staff are lovely, the food is delicious and the atmosphere is really nice and cosy 🤗 They're always lovely to our wee dog as well! Can't recommend enough - definitely worth a visit!

Had a nice meal. Value for money. It get crowded during evenings. Was expecting more pub food.. we ordered a jumbo prawn platter but the prawns were medium size and not jumbo as described on the menu. Overall OK place for a beer and a quick meal.

4(almost 5!) Loved the place, unpretentious, gr8 service and the team are lovely! Chirpy & conversing! Food is 3 purely becoz of my meal (son had the fish fingers which he loved!) My chillicorn with rice (and cheese!) And corn chips with it just wasnt it! 🫥🫨.

We went on a Thursday, fairly late. Kitchen was to close in 20 minutes (20:40), but we got our orders in, and the food came quickly. We had a couple of drinks and food, enjoyed the live music and it was a great experience. Try the Haggis Bonbons and don't forget the gravy! Will be recommending this place to everyone back home!

Had a pint and some snacks and boy was I surprised by the quality of the food. I had a side salad that tasted like the ingredients were picked five minutes before serving. Really good, and nice staff.

Great pub quiz hosted by mark, mark was amazing! Dan was a superstar, Katie was beautiful. Pints were good. Finley was there.

I had the special - Hunter's chicken topped with bacon and cheese with a whisky BBQ sauce served with salad and fries. The chicken was succulent, the bacon crispy, cheese nicely melted and the sauce was piquant! Fresh greens in the salad with red onion and a halves cherry tomato. The large serving of fries was hot and crisp - all in all great value at £11.95!

Is it possible to fall in love with a pub? Yes. Even during the first 10 minutes of being there? Absolutely. Between the really good food, good drinks, good atmosphere, suuuuuper friendly staff, I can't decide what seduced me the most. I felt like a regular customer from the start, and went back every night of my stay in the city. I got to see quiz night, and live music. Everything was awesome. Also a +++ because I was going all by myself, and as a woman, I felt super safe in there even at night. They're one of the reason I'll be back in Edinburgh

Scottish breakfast on arrival and dinner (fish and chips and lamb on a pita) a few days later. If you leave hungry, it is your own fault. The helpings are huge and very tasty. Our server was so nice and helpful. A rustic pub experience. A definite go to eatery in Edinburgh.

Our absolute favourite pub in Edinburgh! We've been going here every time we're in Edinburgh for years, and every time we feel super comfortable. The staff is very nice, the atmosphere is always great: cosy, communicative, mixed guests, but somehow a community feeling. The food has been super delicious every time. Plus: the other night we were there on the evening of our wedding, we had booked a table and didn't expect much, why should we, it's a pub... but the table was very nicely decorated and we even got a very sweet compliment from the house. Thank you Fox and Faun for a wonderful and unforgettable evening!

A nice pub with good atmosphere, great food but let down by poor service. Always needlessly 2 deep at the bar with staff struggling to coordinate a service plan. Table service for food was ok (as in taking the order) but meals took an exceptionally long time to arrive, even after enquiring with staff. We would’ve stayed for dessert if we could find a server to order it (and if we thought it might arrive before closing 🙃) but chose to pay and leave. Staff were so ambivalent that we could’ve walked out without paying for dinner. Had to remind the waitress (who had plates from our recently vacated table) what table we were sitting at to get the bill. Go for the food but be prepared for a wait…

I had the best French Onion soup at this restaurant!!! That’s not something I say very often. I also had their side salad, while my husband had their fish and chips. That too was also delicious. I haven’t had a good fish and chips in...

Friendly and efficient staff. Food was really tasty. We had fish and chips, chicken pie, mac and cheese, and sticky toffee pudding. Nice relaxed pub atmosphere. Do be aware that they can't have kids under 18 there after 8.

People tend to go to Grassmarket in Edinburgh to see a nice pub, but this one in the West End is the place to be. A home away from home! Friendly, cosy, great drinks, great food, and if you are coming back you will be...

Haggis bons bons were good. Beer selection pretty good. Surprised beer here is so low ABV, but that's probably for the best. No EPL games as Sky package is too expensive, unfortunately.

This is an excellent Gastro pub, with an extensive list of beers and whisky and 13 of the beers are on tap Staff is knowledgeable and helpful and work hard to be helpful.

I really liked this place. Busy but down to earth. A lot of different ages and characters mixing which I think is a sign of a good place. It was pub quizz when I visited, which was entertaining and also a good sign. Friendly service. Highly recommend if you are in the area.
