So glad we found this gem! Delicious food, cosy atmosphere and outstanding service. Would highly recommend for both vegans and non-vegans, when we return to Edinburgh we will certainly be back!

The dishes served so beautifully. Tiramisu was superb. You should try their vegan buratta as well.

Best vegan restaurant I’ve ever tried! We had a carbonara pasta and spaghettone al aglio nero. Fantastic taste, what a lovely experience! The desserts superb too, we had a pistachio cheesecake and the best tiramisu ever!

A completley Vegan Italian This is the second time visiting NovaPizza. My last visit was sometime around November 2022. I must say immediately that I preferred the experience two years prior. Whilst it wasn't a bad experience, it wasn't a great one either; mediocre is how I would describe it. The service was decent enough but nowhere near as warm and intimate as my last visit. I understand that we were the last booking of the night and it was likely a busy day for them, but you don't slip on warm service because the end is in sight. The food was expensive. Not stupidly expensive , but expensive enough. This mayhave been acceptable if the food blew me away, but it did not. I had the bread and balsamic oil to begin, a rather disproportionate amount of the dip for the amount of oil you get. My partner likes to test the level of service and repeatedly mentioned out loud that it would be really tasty if we had some more of the dip, not directly asked, just mentioned loud enough to be heard but those comments clearly went unheard. A minor issue though. I got the Lasagna which was very flavourful and filling, quite a large portion too, though the pasta was unbelievably soft so there was no need to chew your bites, just swallow. Not the greatest. Finally, my partner had the tiramisu which was decently enough priced, though the plating was a little slap dash. It came in a soup bowl and the edges were untidyly covered with coaco powder which didn't seem intentional, more just that tidying up the presentation wasn't on their list. Overall; the price came to £60 for bread and oil, Lasagna, tirimasu, a negroni and a cola. Not the worst prices I have paid, but a bit more towards the disappointing side of prices. I understand that as a vegan business the costs for produce can be a bit higher than regular restaraunts; furthermore, the location is not far from the city so I bet the rent is rather pricey. So with this in mind, I can accept the cost, but only if the food really made the night for me, which it did not. I probably won't be visiting again, not because it's bad, but because I think there are some cheaper and better options out there. Good luck to the business, I do hope they always stay open and we need more fully vegan buisness'.

Top, busy place, always book and dont be late or they might give up your space. Loved the food, service was excellent. For us, we had a lovely time with out friends, highly recommended. Really enjoyed the atmosphere. Excellent quality 👌

One of my favourite places in beautiful Edinburgh! I'm dining here at least once when I'm in town and always feel right at home in the cozy little restaurant with its Italian charme. Last time, I indulged myself in the Burrata, it was mouth-wateringly delicious. And don't get me started on the vegan tiramisú... Already looking forwards to my next visit!

I have dined here twice now and both times were a great dining experience. The first time was with my parents (May 2024), and we were all thrilled. My mom especially loved the "Oreo Cheesecake" she had for dessert. She couldn't stop talking about it even days later. Now the second time, I treated myself to a little birthday dinner for one: I had their delicious Pesto Pasta, with a slice of their Pistachio Cheesecake for dessert – a dream 😍✨️

What a lovely restaurant! I had the Pizza Serena, which was both beautiful and utterly delicious, the creamy vegan stracciatella was a revelation. My friend had the Trofie ‘Nduja which was also delicious and had just the right amount of spice. Will definitely be back to try some of the other things on the menu.

An amazing experience from start to finish! The burrata was a real treat, as was the cacio e pepe. Absolutely fabulous vegan meal.

So much choice and large portions. Depends on what you have, it can be expensive but guaranteed vegan. Allergies - explain to the staff who will let the kitchen know. Food is made to order. They also do takeaway if you come in and order. Small place so no wheelchair access. Child friendly, no dogs. Parking is on side streets. Better access by bus. We have been back there again and it's still excellent , still vegan and very friendly. Definitely advise booking a table in advance

Amazing vegan place! Lots of unique options like vegan prawns or special cheeses. The whole family enjoyed it! Sometimes waiting takes a bit and definitely book in advance, but this is to be expected from such a small place. Also mind the price: it's expensive, but that's also worth it for this high end vegan quality. The atmosphere was also very cool.

I've been to Novapizza a number of times through the years and have always found the food to be excellent. Went back last weekend and had the best vegan carbonara of my life -- grazie mille! I'll definitely visit again when I'm in Edinburgh.

We had dinner here on the last night of a short break in Edinburgh. We absolutely loved it! (It was definitely worth a long walk in the rain.) The food and service were both fantastic and the atmosphere was lovely. We are still talking longingly about the pistachio cheesecake and will definitely be going back when we have the chance.

Fabulous food. We each had a cocktail, pizza, dessert & a digest drink. Everything was so wonderful. The service was friendly, quick and kind. We loved the crochet plants too!

Pizza Quattro Staggioni. That’s it. That’s the review. Delicious marinara topped with amazing non dairy cheese, ham and artichoke. I enjoyed every bite of it. The base is soft (not everyone’s taste) but I liked it anyway. It is a bit crammed but cozy. Also had a cheesecake (daily special with pistachios) - mega delicious.

The pasta is an absolute delight! We found this small restaurant and put in a spontaneous reservation for the same evening. The pasta (spaghetti carbonara and gnocchi) were absolutely delicious, the portions were very generous. The owner was nice and welcoming, it was visible how much she enjoyed her job. Would definitely come back!

Arrived to a closed restaurant. Sign indicated they should be open, nothing to know they would be closed.... Very disappointed.

Cosy environment and had raving reviews but we were left very disappointed by the food and the service. Worth mentioning walking in there was a funky sulphurous scent across the restaurant (which dissipated throughout our time there) We waited an hour for our food and only got told after the long wait there had been a mix up with our food. We were kindly offered soft drinks on the house, I just wish it happened 20-30min into our wait, not by the end of the hour. The gluten free focaccia was £15 for 8 slices (£2 surcharge for it being gluten free which we only realised once the bill came - could be marked clearer on the menu). I had the spaghettone novopizza, which claims to be their specialty. For £22 I got severely overcooked pasta with tinned tomato sauce, two basil leaves and some vegan cream cheese on top. I am all for high quality ingredients and found the vegan cheeses to be pleasant (which is hard to find) but I did not think that the quality or taste was reflected in the price… Would hope this is a one off mishap given the rest of the reviews…

Having Italian vegan food is a dream and now a reality! It was succulent and flavors were unique with perfect notes of the vegan cuisine meshed with the Italian cuisine.

Always incredible, the best vegan restaurant in Edinburgh! Our favourite place to go, such a lovely space with lovely staff, and a brilliant menu. Every dish we've had across 4 visits has been amazing.

This is a lovely little independent vegan restaurant. Although it's called Nova Pizza they also serve pasta, salads and desserts. Our barata starter was delicious. There were 3 of us and we all chose different pizzas and they were amazing, really gorgeous bread base with very tasty toppings. We chose the pistachio cheesecake and the oreo cheesecake for dessert, you would never know they were vegan, they are just really good desserts. I would highly recommend a visit here, but make sure you book, as it is very popular! It is a small restaurant and they are focusing on quality and that ia reflected in the amazing food.

Went for dinner with friends on Sunday evening. Starter was amazing. Dinner was amazing, we each ordered a different pizza and they were all fantastic. Ordered cheesecake to take back to hotel as too full to eat it in the restaurant. Loved all the crocheted flowers/plants in the room too. If you are vegan and in Edinburgh you should visit here. Even if you are not vegan, visit here. Wish I lived closer.

Having had authentic Italian carbonara before going vegan I’ve always been picky when it comes to carbonara, but this was absolutely amazing, and will have me returning to Edinburgh over and over! Everything we ate was amazing and I can’t rate it highly enough. The service was amazing, and so quick, and food was top notch.

I was in Edinburgh for a nice solo birthday getaway. I was looking for a place to enjoy my birthday dinner & was looking for somewhere casual, chill with plenty of vegan options. Well, I found just that & it happened to be a fully vegan restaurant. Novapizza is a cozy spot and a great place for a date, small celebration or if you’re like me and enjoy a solo experience. The customer service was on point and the waitress ensured I was looked after all evening. The menu - so many amazing things to choose from and all the food that was coming out looked mouth watering. I got the focaccela romana as a starter, the Carbonara as the main and the tiramisu. Everything was 100% and on point. It was just as good as being in Italy - which is no surprise as it’s run by lovely Italians. Thank you for the lovely experience, I’ll be back for sure!

We were bought a gift voucher as a wedding gift so 5 star for my friend who is not vegan on finding you. Since going vegan two years ago the food I have missed most is good quality Italian food. Pat on the back to the chef, The food was simply amazing, some of the best vegan food I have ever had in fact the Carbonara was amazing and the deserts: well our only problem was deciding which ones to have. Even if you’re not vegan you simply have to try Nova pizza out, they will not disappoint. As someone who works in hospitality the service was also 5 star. We will definitely be back.

Another wonderful experience at Novapizza. We first visited here on a trip to Edinburgh in 2019 and the food and service have only improved. Delicious and filling! The restaurant is small so it's a good idea to book, but you won't regret it.

Try the carbonara - it's so good!

Been here a few times previously and really enjoyed it, but really dissatisfied this time . The 1hr 15min table time is insufficient for 3 courses with drinks. The waiter failed to mention this until after she had taken our desert order then became extremely rude when we were unable to finish on time. The main waiter taking orders should not be front of house as she has neither the training or the manner to deal with customers in a polite and professional manner. The other female waiter was the polar opposite, very polite and friendly. If you enjoy wolfing down your food without any conversation with your partner / friends, you may enjoy it, otherwise I would suggest an alternative restaurant. Very disappointed in the changes witnessed as our previous visits have been enjoyable but this experience will be our last given the high prices don't match the poor and rude level of service

Fabulous vegan food in a lovely area of Edinburgh. We were visiting our daughter who has recently moved to Stockbridge and she booked this for our penultimate night here. They were very busy and our table wasn’t quite ready so we popped to a local pub and came back. The service and food were brilliant and it’s nice to go to a purely vegan restaurant where our daughter can eat everything. We had lasagne, mushroom and truffle spaghetti and an aubergine pizza, followed by Tiramisu. Everything was delicious! This restaurant is tiny with 18 seats and you may have to wait but it’s definitely worth it! We will be back next time we visit. This is the nicest food we had during our five night stay.

Been here a few times before & it was excellent. Food nice but overpriced for pasta & pizza. Our bill was put on the table while we were still eating dessert which was very rude. Then told that we only had 1hr 15 mins for our booking which I appreciate was mentioned on our open table booking but we weren't clock watching & not sure why we we were asked if we wanted dessert/ coffees just 5 mins before our time was up then. We had to down our coffees & wine quickly & were made to feel like we were a nuisance as the waitress made a sarcastic comment about just asking other people to wait for a table. We had just spent a lot of money so 1 hr 15 mins is not long enough to enjoy a meal, really disappointed with attitude, won't be back.

Ordered a takeaway pizza and it was genuinely the best vegan pizza I’ve ever had! They also have gluten free base options so it’s ideal for anybody like me with intolerances without feeling like it’s substandard food. Definitely satisfied my pizza craving. Will be back :)

Absolutely amazing vegan food! The garlic focaccia was better than any non-vegan garlic bread I've ever had and the portion sizes were perfect - big enough that I couldn't quite finish my pizza, but small enough that we still had room for dessert.

I chose Novapizza for a girls dinner with my aunt and cousin for a birthday weekend in Edinburgh. We’re all dairy free and when I saw a vegan Italian it was a no brainer! And I’m so glad we went! The food was unbelievable, I’m also gluten free and everything I ate was delicious! The gnocci was so creamy! And the focaccia didn’t taste gluten free at all, it was that good! The service was also lovely and the whole experience was very nice! I highly recommend if you want a delicious, cosy Italian meal.

Yum!! We got the burrata + focaccia, carbonara, pesto gnocchi, and tiramisu. It was all so tasty and we had leftovers to eat the next night too. I highly recommend everything we ordered. The waiting staff was very nice. I'd recommend getting a reservation because the space is pretty small.

Oh, my good god. We come here every time we visit and are never disappointed. Beautiful food, welcoming environment and homely feel. A must-visit for those in the area, you will be well-fed with the best Italian food!

My family of 3 had to cancel less than the stated 24 hour cancellation notice due to my 18 month old son being ill. We had tried calling but couldn’t get through due to the opening time being 17:00. We were told we would be charged £30 per person including my son for the cancellation. We had explained the situation which was met with a rude attitude and no flexibility. It’s a shame as we like to help out smaller business’ but I wouldn’t recommend this restaurant for those with young families.

Amazing! Such a special little place and find for vegans and non-vegans alike. They were so kind and engaging and helped to give us great suggestions (thank you, Serena!). Make sure to book a reservation ahead of time, as it’s a smaller restaurant. The small size makes for a great atmosphere, though! In reference to the photos: We got the burrata cheese plate (vegan burrata, homemade pesto, tomatoes and rocket) with an order of focaccella romana (soft and thick focaccia bread). The combination of all of those together in one bite was truly incredible. Could eat that focaccia for every meal! We also ordered the carbonara pasta and funghi e prosciutto pizza. Both were very good! It was so hard to decide, so we can’t wait to go back and try other options. The burrata and focaccella romana will be an every time choice, though!

My BEST meal in Edinburgh. That vegan carbonara pasta..... It was incredible. You really taste the fattiness specific to pork, but cruelty-free. We had a burrata as an entrée and it was excellent. The Novapizza pasta with a rich garlicky tomato sauce and stracciatella was also great. The Crema Catalana was refreshing. Unfortunately I don't live in Edinburgh, this would be my go-to place anytime.

This place is really nice, it is very small but it works. Had a bolognaise pizza and Rigatoni both were very nice. They have a great choice of vegan Italian dishes. Finished off with a tiramisu - very nice. Staff were nice and food came quick. Will be back next time we’re up in Edinburgh !

Reservation recommended. Had a lovely dinner here. The owner and her partner moved from Italy and started this restaurant and having been to Italy last year, it felt very authentic! Had delicious cheese foccacia bread, Lasagna, and a carbonara pasta and my non vegan partner loved it as well!

Loved this place! We came here while on holiday. Loved the food, the restaurant, while small was super nice and had a brilliant buzz, the bottle of wine we shared was amazing too. Best vegan pizza I've had in a long time. Highly recommend, but you'll probably need to book in advance because there is limited space. 10 outta 10

Was so much looking forward to eating here with my family after attending a university event in Edinburgh. My husband has visited before when in Edinburgh and raved about it. Unfortunately, we had our day in Edinburgh when the weather experience meant there was 3 weeks of rain in one weekend. I'd booked an evening slot, but we walked to the restaurant for just after opening time (wet through and cold ) to see if we could change the booking. They were able to change it slightly, but we were unable to wait two hours in the conditions we were in. I rang them with 1 hour 30 minutes notice to cancel, (with great regret- had been so looking forward to I know what would have been amazing meals), but we were told we'd have to pay the cancellation free. I understand this- of course we were only booking to support a wonderful vegan business and enjoy the food and I had planned this in advance. We did not want to cause them to be out of pocket! However, I noted that the cancellation fee was taken well over an hour before we were due to eat there. Yes- it's 20 pounds per person. I would advise people to ABSTAIN FROM USING OPEN TABLE. It's very, very rare that I have ever had to cancel anything. This was a disappointing end to the trip.

Took myself for a date and I cannot say enough. This was damn delicious I wish we had one at home, although then I would spend all of my money there so maybe for the best. The antipasti was incredible, the focaccia crispy and fluffy, the pizza, divine. I also have enough leftovers for 2 days.

Superb vegan Italian food, generous portions, expertly prepared. The vegan cheese they source is delicious; much better quality than any city alternatives I know (excepting its sister restaurant Sora Lella). Recommended, even for non-vegans 😋

Was visiting Edinburgh with my family for the weekend having travelled to Scotland from the states. Thought I booked in for dinner on the Sunday but turns out I booked for the Saturday - my mistake. However, when I phoned them up (having received a missed call from the restaurant) and realized the error, they were completely apathetic. I explained the situation and requested a cancellation for Saturday and a table for Sunday. I was told they didn't have any availability for Sunday and that I was too late - they had already charged me £20 per person for my Saturday booking (that's £60 for the three of us). I asked if that could be cancelled and they said there was nothing they could do. In no way did they attempt to accommodate my family for us to actually be able to eat there. I understand a cover charge for last minute bookings and in my experience this is maybe £5 per head or £10 if the booking is for parties of 6 or more. This restaurant had full availability when I went to book (one of the reasons why I didn't realize I had gotten my days wrong) More importantly - THERE WERE NO TERMS/CONDITIONS DETAILING I WOULD BE CHARGED when I went through the booking process. I never checked a box - in fact I unchecked the marketing promotion boxes. It wasn't until I went back and looked at my confirmation email - which you receive AFTER you make the booking - that I saw this: "CREDIT CARD POLICY This restaurant requires a credit card to secure this booking. All credit card information will be processed securely. No-shows or cancellations less than 1 day in advance will be subject to a charge of £20 per person. Changes to guest count made less than 1 day in advance will be subject to a charge of £20 per person." This is ONLY detailed on the confirmation emails for bookings made same day - NOT for bookings made in advance, but they still charge you if you cancel within a day of the booking regardless. So even if I had noticed my mistake immediately after booking, I STILL WOULD HAVE BEEN CHARGED even though I they don't make you aware of the charge until after it's too late.

Delicious Italian food - fully vegan but even meat eaters would love it. Delicious flavours and the homemade 'bacon' was amazing! A great range on the menu for food and wine too.

Prima volta a Edimburgo. Premetto non sono vegana, ma dopo stata da loro lo diventerò. Piatti freschi, curati, sia nel gusto, ottimo sia a guardare. Hanno prodotti italiani originali, preparano loro il cibo, stracciatella vegana, burrata ecc. porzioni super. La focaccella che ho preso sublime. Correte e prenotate se andate a Edimburgo!!!!!

The BEST vegan pizza I've had in 12 years as a vegan! I'm not kidding here folks. The crust was thin but the pizza was loaded with toppings. I had a pizza bianca, Cacciatora. (Again, the best!) My husband had the Meat Feast. He really enjoyed it but I think he liked mine more. We also had the gnocchi pesto di rucola e pomodori confit. They were light and fluffy with a great sauce and the walnuts gave a nice contrast and crunch. For dessert, I had the affogato which was simple but fantastic! My husband has the tiramisu, it was fluffy and rich without being too sweet. Now. The employees...they were delightful, kind and jokey. They made us feel comfortable and welcome. They also knew the menu like the back of their hands. I appreciate that kind of attention when dining at a one of a kind restaurant. When I'm back in Edinburgh, I'm definitely going there again. Wow!

Tiny little Italian restaurant, great selection of dishes. Pizzas are a great size for one, order a couple to share.

Oreo cheesecake is my dream dessert! P.S. the pizza is amazing too - great base sauce every time.

Have been here 3 times, twice in July and once in August. Can highly recommend in July - the venue is small but relaxed and cosy, the waiter was talkative and friendly, the food was phenomenal and fairly priced (especially the carbonara, and the carpaccio pizza they had as a special at one point). In August, everything on the menu was £4 more expensive than it was in July, the staff a bit more brusque (including taking my plate away before my partner was done eating, which felt a little impolite and made them feel rushed) and my meal was still delicious but presented a bit more slapdash than it had been before. I understand businesses have to run a little differently during the Fringe, but these changes tipped the balance to the experience not really being worth it. Would give 5 stars for how I assume it is 11 months of the year, but would not recommend going if you're visiting for the Fringe.
