The very best place we visited on our trip to Edinburgh. Food was delicious and so was the drinks. Atmosphere was great with the live music at night. Have to recommend!
After our favorite Chinese takeaway closed down, we struggled to find a new one that lived up to our expectations. After several disappointing experiences, we decided to try Hot Kung Fu based on recommendations from a few Facebook groups—and we’re so glad we did!
The food was fantastic—fresh, flavorful, and high quality, especially for a takeaway. Delivery was incredibly fast, and even when they accidentally missed an item from our order, they made it right without us having to ask. About 30 minutes later, they showed up at our door with the missing item, which was a really nice surprise.
We’re thrilled to have finally found a go-to Chinese takeaway we can trust again. Of course, we’ll see how things go over time, but based on this first experience, we’re really happy and excited to order again!
We had a great Sunday brunch here. Lovely atmosphere, stunning decor. Really good value for the amount of food you got. We had Lana as our lovely server and she was great and checked on us throughout the meal. We will be back :) - Laura & Ellie
For an all you can eat buffet, this was really good. Cocktails were tasty. Food all seemed fresh and hot. Loads of stuff to choose from- Indian, seafood, Chinese, desserts. We were absolutely stuffed after.
We pre booked for after a show at Playhouse. . It was crazy busy . I no we wee informed 90 minutes for table but felt rushed as was so busy lott of queues &waiting food be replenished that hadx ran out also if wanted the fresh cooked to order foods this can be a prob when busy. Time wise

My first visit to the Ivy and it won’t be my last. I booked last minute for dinner on Saturday night as I was staying in a hotel nearby. From the moment of our arrival we were met with the highest standards of service and professionalism. Food was excellent and the staff couldn’t have done enough to ensure we thoroughly enjoyed our visit. I highly recommend the Ivy on the Square.
I have previously left a great review of this place but when I left my earlier review, this used to be an amazing restaurant with such great food. We visited last night and the food was quite bad (still eatable but just about) Chhole in my Thali had gone bad but they still chose to serve it, Dal Makhani had no salt at all. I have had such good experience in this place before but now will be hesitant to go back. We had our mother visiting from India who's a vegetarian and we were so excited to take her here but the food embarrassed us.
This was my first meal out for 15 months and what a disappointment. Firstly the non-alcoholic drinks a swizz. Raspberry Soda, more ice with some flavour. The food is amateur and ridiculously priced. Service was slow and sadly lacking in the realities of COVID. A shame, as I was looking forward to food I had not cooked.
