Nice pub, with good vibes and food. I ordered the Haggis with peppercorn sauce and it was exceptional. The haggis is good but the peppercorn sauce is what most impressed me and you can tell it is homemade. Service is nice and accommodating. Highly recommend 👍🏻

Excellent traditional pub with great food and a good selection of draft beers

Being Yanks we were on the search for a traditional, local, non tourist Pub. The Old Bell fit the bill perfectly. Atmosphere and decor was perfect, staff (and locals) friendly and food was good. Advise anyone looking for an authentic experience to check it out.

We've been to quite a few dog friendly pubs in Edinburgh but wanted to go somewhere different. We travelled up from Northumberland on the 19th March and wow it was well worth the journey, this beautiful traditional pub is amazing. From the moment we stepped through the door, we were made to feel so welcome. The landlord got our dog a bowl of water straight away which was really good of him. My hubby had Steak and Ale pie with chips and veg and I had the Chicken Cesar Salad with a side of onion rings. Hubby said his pie was most probably the best he'd had and if you like onion rings, these are the best we've ever had in a pub, absolutely gorgeous. The portion sizes are very generous and the food was just perfect, compliments to the Chef and staff. Everywhere was spotlessly clean. It's a good walk from Waverley Train Station but it's so worth it. We'll definitely be going back, we loved it, it has to be our favourite pub in Edinburgh. Barclay says thank you for his water and the spacious area he had to get some sleep and thank you for bringing our drinks over ❤️

Hemos estado en bastantes pubs que admiten perros en Edimburgo, pero quería ir a un lugar diferente. Viajamos desde Northumberland y vaya que valió la pena el viaje, este hermoso pub tradicional es increíble. Desde el momento en que cruzamos la puerta, nos hicieron sentir tan bienvenidos. El propietario le dio a nuestro perro un tazón de agua de inmediato, que fue muy amable de su parte. Mi marido comió bistec y pastel de cerveza con patatas fritas y verduras y yo comí la ensalada Cesar de pollo con un lado de aros de cebolla. Hubby dijo que su pastel era probablemente el mejor que había probado y si te gustan los aros de cebolla, estos son los mejores que hemos probado en un pub, absolutamente precioso. Los tamaños de las porciones son muy generosos y la comida era simplemente perfecta, felicita al chef y al personal. En todas partes estaba impecablemente limpio. Está a un buen paseo de la estación de tren Waverley, pero vale la pena. Sin duda volveremos, nos encantó, tiene que ser nuestro pub favorito en Edimburgo. Always enjoy ourselves in here that's why we keep going back. Ideal for a lunch and drinks before heading to Murrayfield and to go back later on.. Food is really good too.. and they have orchid pig cider,which is my favourite..

Good local boozer with old school charm. Lots of nooks and crannies to have a snug chat, or wider areas to watch the football. Usually has a few interesting guest beers. Food is pretty decent too.

Have been there with dad for the rugby six nations game. He visited there a few years ago, he remembered the welcoming place and great food and after years didn't disappoint, couldn't recommend it more.

Very traditional place, keeping the style. I loved the decoration with so many moments from Scotland. We got a place for the group in the first floor so we were super comfortable while having dinner.

Visited Old Bell Inn on New Year's Eve with a group of friends and we all loved the atmosphere of this place! Felt very nostalgic, as I used to live just down the road from this place as a student a few years ago! Very cosy, neat and clean and intricately decorated with awesome photos and posters relating to the history of Edinburgh. The atmosphere was fantastic and we all felt welcome - even though there were plenty of tables reserved, we still managed to find a table for a rather large group, which was amazing especially on a day like NYE! Fab place, would recommend and will be coming back when in Edinburgh ⭐

Hermoso pub "tradicional"... acogedor en un día frío. Gran ambiente. . lugareños, estudiantes, visitantes. Hecho para sentirse muy bienvenido. Excelente comida, bebidas y servicio. Nos habíamos alojado cerca en Craigmillar Park y habíamos buscado un lugar para el almuerzo. Me alegro de haber encontrado la campana. Recomiendo la sopa casera y el pastel de carne.

We had a fantastic experience at The Old Bell! We arrived hungry after a long overnight flight, and Chris took such great care of us, ensuring we were able to sit upstairs and order food and drinks before they had even opened the upstairs bar. I tried the Haggis Neeps & Tatties, and my wife had the Steak & Ale Pie. Both were super delicious, huge portions, and very reasonably priced. Chris also gave us some great recommendations on what to do in the local area, and places to check out in Edinburgh. He was also just lovely to chat with! They also have a Monday quiz night that I wish we were able to stay for, but were too tried this time. But the pub filled up for the quiz by the time we left, so I’m sure they do a great job. Would totally recommend going to the Old Bell, and I will definitely come again next time I’m in Edinburgh!

This establishments was recommended to us by two locals. It was out first night and pub visit in Scotland and was tourist friendly. Tom, our bartender was very hospitable. The appetizers and mains were served hot and tasted good. The drafts were expertly poured and reasonably priced.

Great little pub in South Edinburgh. It was quite busy and the staff was a little bit overwhelmed. The steak & ale pie and the haggis were awesome! I was a little disappointed with the beer selection, was hoping for a local ale, they only had a local lager.

A friend and I had dinner in the Old Bell a few weeks ago. The food was really good, the waiter was a lovely young man (nothing was too much trouble). Overall it was a good evening and we'll definitely be back.

Es la primera vez que vengo aquí desde hace años, ya que vivo al otro lado de la ciudad y no ha cambiado en lo más mínimo que (este es mi único problema) la cantidad de pantallas de televisión. Debe haber alrededor de 10 de varios tamaños, lo que es muy a menudo. Sin embargo, todo lo demás es perfecto. El servicio es excelente, el vino, la comida es muy buena relación calidad-precio. En general, excelente.

The bar is a good place to spend the evening. The food was okay (had scampi with fries). The waitress didn't come to the table even though we had agreed. Upon request, the table was cleaned and our order was taken.

This is our second year on vacation here and we really like it again.

Dropped in randomly late and was pleasantly surprised that we could order food even though the kitchen was closing soon. 7 people with 5 different dishes that were quickly on the table and tasted divine. A must go there if you are nearby

A good little pub near our guest house. We spent two evenings there during our vacation. Good Scottish dishes. A special mention for Jack who quickly found us a good table and provided friendly, efficient service, and for Katy's smile.

Not a friendly place for young parents. We were not allowed to enter with a sleeping infant in the stroller.

I went to the bell for my birthday and enjoyed the scotch burger and as always it was as good as it normally is. I have been going to the bell for years and the televisions are good for the football and the staff are very good so I definitely recommend.

Atmosphere 5/5: It’s a very classy yet whimsical environment. Most importantly, I was slightly surprised by how clean everything is (especially since it appears to be a rather old pub)! Food 5/5: The haggis bites and steak & ale pie I had were amazing. The apple pie with custard was also nice. They’re fairly-priced too—I had a three-course meal for only £27.85. Service 4.5/5: This has been my experience with two pubs already, so it might just be a pub food thing, but the foods came out rather slowly. The young bartender I met initially (which took my order and told me to grab a seat) wasn’t exactly rude but wasn’t friendly either. But the staff members I met afterwards were all very nice and friendly.

Se cerchi un autentico Pub scozzese , lo hai trovato . A Edimburgo per un weekend, ci proviamo la prima sera ( sabato ) ma non troviamo posto perché quando c'è il Rugby è di fatto quasi impossibile sedersi anche solo per bere Ci riusciamo la domenica sera , il un locale quasi vuoto . Ottima birra , servizio discreto ( gentili i ragazzi anche se di fatto ordini andando tu al bancone ) e locale totalmente originale senza alcuna alterazione turistica . Prendiamo due fisch and Chips, due Tennens e un ottimo torta di mele . Presso onesto ma quello che davvero ti resta è l'ambiente . Se vuoi passare una serata vera in Scozia questo è il posto giusto

On our first evening in Edinburgh we got the advise of going to take our dinner at the old bel in. Nice pub, good food. We took for starters the haggis nibs and shrimps. Main course the steak pie which was very tasteful with mash and fries. I recommend this place.
