The best restaurants in East Lothian Edinburgh and Lothian

I stayed here for 4 nights and it was brilliant the rooms were absolutely perfect my stay and the bar was a brilliant atmosphere, the highlight however was the food in the bar it was absolutely incredible and the chefs are an absolute credit to bar/hotel

Evening started really well told we had table till 7.30 but then they apologised we had to move got their times wrong. Ended up in the conservatory with no atmosphere or heating or guests so was about to leave when the lovely lady from the bar came to see if we would like another drink. We explained that we weren’t happy and was going to leave, she was so lovely and apologetic and went to see if there was a spare table in the bar and she found use one. Our evening ended up being a really enjoyable one with 2 more rounds of drinks and a fabulous cheese board.

Although it was busy, approx 10min wait in the queue and 20mins for our food to arrive it was worth the wait. My baked potato was delish as was the biscoff cake slice.

Delicious gelato with some amazing flavours, between us we tried the lemon meringue, pistachio, chocolate, mango, vanilla and Nutella. All of them were absolutely delicious can’t wait to go back.

Pretty disappointing dinner here. Came and ordered two steak baguettes, each costing almost £20. They came covered in a caremelised onion chutney and so much melted cheese and yet, were still so bland. Bad bread, bad steak, bad cheese. It came with a watery chimichurri sauce for dipping, which didn't really feel thought through with the rest of the dish. Won't be back.

Called in for lunch but was quickly told hot drinks and cake only. Was told they close at 2.45 even though the sign on the door says 3. At 2.43 the door was snibbed, to ensure no one else came in. Coffee was meh.....cakes were delicious. Service was dire and delivered by unwelcoming staff, albeit locals seemed to garner a smile from the head honcho. If you don't mind an extremely poor welcome and service, head here. Reading the previous reviews, it would appear this business doesn't care about negative reviews.

Lovely food and scones were a treat. It was a bit of a squeeze as one of our party was in a wheelchair but the staff were very helpful moving tables around to make room.

After a very disappointing visit to the Ship we walked along to here. We only had enough time for one drink before we had to go for our train. The difference between the Ship and here was night and day. Staff friendly and helpful and actually behind the bar. Unlike the Ship. Tables cleared immediately unlike the Ship. Customers were welcoming and full of information about the best places to go in town. Plus cheaper than the aforementioned. Highly recommended.

Ordered a number of times now, a friend recommended them. Can't fault the food and service, Best carry out to date. Tonight it was plain korma, mango qorma, butter massala Pakora mushroom, nan bread and rice. Plenry of flavours in the mains Daughter loves the mushroom pakora Food was ready when I arrived to collect, even after a 10min trip home. The food was still piping hot.

Passed this Cafe several times and always wanted to give it a try, definitely be the first and last, was a bit surprised to see no prices on display but ordered 2 breakfast rolls 2 coffees and scones anyway, the price at the time I thought was rather steep but just let it go, but just been on my online banking and noticed had been charged even more than was told , just does not justify at all what was bought and the quality did not justify the price either have tasted better, very disappointing

We were staying at Tantallin campsite, placed order for pizza, arrived via delivery ahead of time on a Saturday and the pizza was piping hot and really tasty. Totally recommend.

The slow cooked BBQ beef bagel, from the Wee Green Hut outside, was epic! I could’ve eaten 2, maybe 3. I’ll be back for another one soon. Nice coffee too, friendly service and free parking in the car park.

Arrived 50 minutes before advertised closing time to find the place all in darkness and fridges cleared down. Shame as we’d just completed long walk around the beautiful Carl’s gardens and were looking forward to refreshments. So just don’t rely on the place being open when says it is.
