Popped in for one of their highly recommended lunches and were very pleased we did - beautifully cooked fish and chips and lovely steak pie using local Anderson's butcher steak. Prompt but relaxed service and good value for money.

Nice little spot that we stumbled upon while in town. Friendly patrons. Bartender was lovely, talked movies and 80’s music as 80’s music videos were on the tvs. Good spot for a drink!

I return to my home town at least once a year and The Golfers Rest is always my 1st port of call. The management team of Brian and Carol keep the place spotless and the staff (Karen and Sam to name but 2) are so efficient and friendly. The lunch menu is comprehensive and the beer and whisky selection excellent. I highly recommend The Golfers Rest where a warm welcome awaits !!

Walked past the bar and decided to go in for a couple of drinks. Good selection of beer, lovely pints and staff were absolutely lovely.

Never had anything to eat so cannot comment on that, However I must say the Guinness according to my friend was the best he has had outside of Ireland which is high praise indeed coming from him (believe me). And the friendliness of the staff and locals makes this a great place to visit if you are in North Berwick.

Good food and very reasonable and they also do OAP portions which is good idea all in all a lovely pub

After a mornings golf it was nice to relax in this friendly eatery and enjoy a lovely lunch. Good quality fayre served with a smile . Will definitely be back.

We came to North Berwick for a weeks holiday and had lunch here most days. The food is fresh and excellent. The wine is also good value with a good choice on offer. I would recommend the fish as it is delivered fresh each day. The staff are very kind , welcoming and friendly.

We went for lunch with our dog's, asked bar staff if dog's were ok to be in bar and were told yes, on way to table other staff member approached and told us in a rude abrupt manner, that dogs couldn't come in, in that state as they were serving lunch, as the dogs had been swimming at the beach and were a bit wet but there was no need to to speak to us in this way hence the 1 star

Dog Friendly Pub??????, It needs to have a warning sign that says "Beware of Unfriendly Staff towards dogs if not just out groomers". Took our two very very old dogs in slightly damp from them having a little paddle on beach earlier. Absolutely disgusted at way were spoken to by a member of staff or owner that although we had been told dogs were allowed in by a younger staff member they were fine the elderly woman stared at them and said "they ain't coming in in that state". Seriously avoid this place. Never been spoken to like that by anyone. Woman should be ashamed.

Have had many arguments over this ! In spite of any grammatical mistakes or arguments The Golfers Golfer’s Golfers’ Rest is a very friendly pub where you can meet friendly locals. The bar staff are super friendly and helpful.

Good Sports Bar with wall to wall TVs. It was made into a great visit by the care and attention of one staff member by the name of Lauren. Despite COVID regulations and some officious handling by another member of staff, we were made to feel very welcome. Well done Lauren!

Went in on a Friday afternoon. Hadn't been there long when a woman burst in with a large dog and no mask on(her not the dog) .She sat at a table opposite me and the dog proceeded to bark very loudly at regular and ever increasing intervals as I ate my lunch,made me feel I was at the local park!.The woman scattered crisps all over the floor for the dog to eat and it was also up on the table and slurping out of a bowl right in front of me ,nice.She also took it to the toilet with her? I hope management realise that dogs don't pay their wages customer s do. Won't be back as I hope you realize not everyone is a dog lover and I also like my hygiene! Went for a good few further drinks at a bar and restaurant a few doors along and thoroughly enjoyed the dog unfriendly atmosphere in a bar for humans not dogs😊

On the day of visiting there was no food available. This did not stop our enjoyment of this bar. Friendly staff, good Guinness. Fair prices. If you are traveling perfect for getting the bus ( 1 min) Train station (15 min) walking times.

The service from entering till leaving was excellent as was the food and at great prices. The price of drinks was also the cheapest in town. Glad we decided to try it out. Food is only served at lunchtime which is a shame as the quality would have seen us eating again in the evening.

The Golfers Rest is the best of the two pubs in North Berwick by far,there is a great selection of beers and spirits and lunch time food is excellent.There are three tvs and and a pool table and the pub is very roomy

Very clean and well decorated pub which is a pleasant change from some pubs we have been in. There are plenty of tables, good choice of beers and food which is just we wanted on a day trip to the town. Service and staff were friendly and well experienced in making patrons welcome. Certainly would recommend it if you are in the area.

Been in here before but since our last visit it has been all done up. It's very nice comfy and cosy. Food good as usual definitely worth a visit. They do excellent pensioners lunch menu.

Stopped off here lunch with kids and my Mum yesterday after having a look at a few places on the High Street as we walked along. There were only a couple of guys having a pint but after reading the good reviews we thought we'd give it a try. We weren't disappointed! Ordered the fish & chips with salad and the steak pie & chips with peas and both were delicious. I had the leek & potato soup to start with and it was very tasty too. Just what was needed to face a day of bracing wind in North Berwick! The barmaid was friendly and good with the kids too. We'll definitely be back.

I had lovely fresh fish and chips with side salad. The fish was delivered that day so it was not frozen. The menu caters for most tastes. The wine and food prices are good value and they serve mini proseccos which are not available everywhere. Service was friendly and attentive. The bar needs done up but if you are able to ignore that you could have a nice lunch.

I had a nice pint, well presented in a nice clean glass and nice table and nice seats and temperature was nice. It was 10pm and obviously a slow night so everything was getting switched off and prepared ready for the staff to depart. It was really like I was an inconvenience. I should have stayed in the Auld Hoose.

Went to watch football Ordered a London Pride first -just drinkableThen ordered Pedigree which we drink in Derbyshire regularlyIt tasted like vinegar really horrible, told the landlord who just said "its only 4 days old" and didn't offer to change it -just to show us the record of the beer arriving which meant nothing to me. Won't go back Shouldn't have real ale if not able to look after it and acknowledge when it's off in my humble opinion.

This is a great wee pub nothing fancy but very welcoming. Great pub grub, do pensioners portions at great prices. The staff are very welcoming . I would definitely recommend this place.

Stopped in for lunch. Warm welcome. Busy with locals. Good beer on tap. Ordered soup - pea & ham. Came very hot with a hot (just our the oven) roll & butter. Richard was very happy with his scampi.Only thing that lets it down is decor but we prefer the company to carpet etc Would visit again.

Had a lovely Saturday for beers and wine , bar was busy with plenty locals , a very good atmosphere , the bar decor etc is a little dated but very clean with excellent service . We didn't try the food but what we saw being served looked appetising . We will give the food a go next time we visit .

We rambled around North Berwick I was recommended a pub called the ship and a couple of other places but we were impressed by the menu board outside offering an alternative price for OAP's is not being OAP's the food was great the service was great and friendly the blond barmaid and I had a chat about sky toilets spotless well well worth a visit only thing please offer a plain sambo if required thanks for having us North Berwick is great

I popped into this pub one Saturday lunchtime to watch the football. Conveniently, there were televisions showing both the Celtic and the Man United matches at the same time, which meant that if positioned correctly, both games could be watched simultaneously.And that pretty much ends the outright positives of the place. It was busy with a very local crowd who appeared very welcoming to each other but not a warm atmosphere for a visitor. The beer was just OK and the food, although I did not try it, looked very ordinary. Not a bad place just not a place I will rush to return.

After my experience of a place in Dirleton yesterday, it was nice to visit this great pub in North Berwick. The buzz of the place when you enter and the great, friendly staff make it a place where you know you will enjoy your lunch. The food is well cooked pub grub and is freshly cooked to order. There is a good selection of beer and the banter from everyone is fantastic. It was a pleasure and renewed my faith in Scottish hospitality.Thanks and we will be back.

It doesn't look much from the outside, and to be honest isn't much from the inside. That said, I loved it. If you're looking for swanky, then go elsewhere. If you're looking for character, go here. Wifi, pool, sport on TV, craft beers and food. When you're travelling with a family of 4 (3yr old and 8yr old), that's all the facilities you need! Staff were friendly, punters were friendly. Plenty of seating and good prices. Might not be everyone's cup of tea, but I really liked it. If you're looking for 5 star dining, walk past. Other than that, and for most people, definitely give it a shot.

Popped in for lunch with the family. Food is standard pub grub nothing extravagant but tasty. Have a limited kids menu that comes with ice cream and a juice. Staff were very friendly and regular patrons welcoming. Worth a visit if you fancy something different from the numerous cafes on the high street.

Few Friends having day out to North Berwick and while browsing for and eatery for Lunch came across "Golfers Rest" popped in and were not let down Great Steak Pie and Chips and my mates were very happy with Fish and Chips all meals good value for the price drinks reasonable as well.Staff very friendly and locals very accommodating to outsiders. Recommend anyone having time in North Berwick around Lunch time give it a try you won't be let down.

This is a well run pub with good food and reasonable prices. Fantastic fresh fish and chips served with salad instead of the usual peas. Good size portion and washed down with a bottle of white wine at only £10.50 a bottle. Bar maid friendly. Chef appeared from behind the door wearing a spotless white coat top which gives confidence that the kitchen will be clean. Toilets were very clean too.Will most definitely return here on our next visit to North Berwick as it is far better for value and cleanliness than some other eateries here.

This was a pub we visited earlier in the year. Have been there 3-4 times now. The last being last Saturday (5/9/2015) when three of us went to North Berwick for my birthday. With a particular view to having lunch at the Golfers Rest. Good decision. The service was perfect. The food outstanding, and the drinks even better. I had the battered fresh fish and chips. And fresh it was. I was brought up in a fishing village so know fresh fish when I eat it.A smashing community pub, that is undoubtedly tourist friendly. We had an amazing day at the Golfers Rest, but sadly had to get the train back to Edinburgh. We all look forward to visiting again. Very very soon. Cheers

Another pub I have been visiting on my regular visits to Eastern Scotland. Always get a warm welcome from the staff and some of the locals that I have got to know. Food is good and good value. Beer is great as is the atmosphere.

We were having a Sunday visit to North Berwick and needed some lunch we decided to try here. The Panani's were superb and the fish & chips were great and all very reasonable priced.

In for a pub lunch with my wife and children - the food was excellent and the portions generous. The staff were really nice and brought us water and biscuits for our dogs, who were welcomed too.

If you like football and to discuss with locals, it's a nice place to visit. The also have a pooltable and several different kinds of beer, both real ale, on tap and bottles.

This is a funny one...it has an amazing location on the high street of a lovely town but if you're tempted in by signs advertising nice sounding food, you might change your mind once inside. So old fashioned and odd; pure 80's! I reckon this could be an absolute goldmine with a decent refurb. My husband says it's an old style perfectly ok boozer and that I've missed the point....hmm. On the plus side girls working the bar were nice and the whole place was scrupulously clean. I didn't try the food; it might be ok, but I was put off trying it by the look of the place.

My husband visits often during his most recent visit. Great place to check email as there is free wifi. The servers will remember your name. Also, older locals visit on Thursday nights for quiz games. Fun place to watch people frown at politicians on television (we were there on budget unveiling day).

My partner and I went firstly to the ship, a good beer guide pub and yhe beer was awful we ventered into the golfers rest a got a superb pint of ale and a good old sandwich which was just what we needed for lunch. There us nothing fancy about this pub just a good local which serves good beer and food with a smile.

Great proper pub. Bar owners know their ales and the process. Stayed for lunch and was homely food. Place was very busy for lunch but still acknowledged while I waited to be served. Great atmosphere and free Wifi. Very friendly place will Def be back.

Had a couple of beers here late a thursday night, but we where not impressed by the service here. Not a smile to see from behind the desk - that will not make this a winner for me. The interior and general impression was not great either.

Had a few drinks in the Golfers Rest when I was home last month.This is a real local hang out and is ran very professionally without loosing its fun atmosphere.Pool table at the back, food available and probably stories of what happened on the 16th green been banded about!!!Its a local pub so there are characters to be met and slightly unlady like language to be heard, but don't complain, its a good old fashioned pub and there are very few left. At least this one is still a pub and not a wine bar. Carry on the good work.We only had a few drinks,

Called in a few times during our short break in north berwick, it's a proper locals pub but welcoming atmosphere. It has pool table, quiz machine and fruit machine. Was never busy when we were in and pool table only costs 50p. Would call in again if in NB.

Whilst staying in North Berwick, we dropped into this pub for a drink after a gusty, windswept walk along the beach. It was fairly quiet, but warm and cosy and on first appearance looked as if it might be a good place to have a pub lunch. Unfortunately, 2 gentlemen who were standing at the bar did quite a lot of swearing and despite our obvious discomfort, nothing was done to stop them. We left.

Did visit this bar on a stormy December night, nice place but could not rate the barmaid ,, she spent most of the time texting on her phone,, had very little time for her customers,, only around 6 in the bar that night, no wonder. I went to the bar for a couple of beers as i got my change i asked about a particular spirit on the shelf,, i was told the price, so i asked for 2 , all i got was a glare, she didnt have a smile for anyone, too busy texting on the phone, seems you must order all your drinks at one time. shame , good enough bar, but that night a very poor surly barmaid.
