Super yummy huge choice of flavours. We got 3 scoop tubs. Grapefruit, whisky & mango . Italian cherry, peach cobbler, strawberry. Absolutely delicious

There is not much you can say about their ice cream and their selection! Probably some of the best ice cream I’ve ever had!

Looks inviting but don't go if there is a bus due in North Berwick as we were refused service 10 minutes before closing (8pm). I did question the time but doesn't seem to care about customer satisfaction and two very upset children.

My friend and I had a day out in North Berwick yesterday and enjoyed everything. Finally we came across Alandas. The server wasn't friendly at all. My friend asked if she could have a tiny taste of an unusual flavour before buying, she was refused! I had the rum & raisin, no flavour at all, no raisins and the poorest rum & raisin ice cream ever. In a blind test I couldn't have deciphered anything. The ice cream does not taste creamy or premium. The shops promises a lot but doesn't deliver. We won't return.

This is simply the best ice cream shop. Ever. We are well travelled and have never had such good ice cream. Staff were awesome - we will be back!

Good ice cream which we all enjoyed. Flavours were quite subtle , and not as good as my favourite gelato shop (a long way away in Cambridge), but it was still a good section and of reasonably quality and I had happy teenagers. One slight niggle was that I asked for chocolate sauce, and this was put in cup before the ice cream. So by the time I got to it, it had frozen solid to the sides of the cup and couldn’t eaten easily!

A must visit if you are in North Berwick! This was the top of the list on our visit to North Berwick. The queues outside waiting to get in and be served is an early indication of the ice-cream they make and sell. Spoilt for choice and definably satisfied but 'must visit more often'.

Absolutely delicious and so many choices. I had the salted caramel gelato with a chocolate dipped cone and it was beautiful. Definitely be back again soon

The ice cream lived up to the claims of quality, among the best, not quite the very best. £5.50 for a two (not particularly generous) scoop ice is more than we have ever paid and over the top. The (background?) Music was so loud that the assistant and I couldn't hear each other and not all the flavours were labelled. As the flavours we wanted had run out ordering became quite a challenge. The manager did turn the volume down but the stressful part was over by then. There was nowhere to sit in or outside and later in the summer with more people around it could be difficult. Nice product with vegan options but they aren't making it easy, pleasant or affordable to become a regular customer.

Lovely ice cream from here. An extensive range of flavours that taste great. Nice smooth texture. These are on the more expensive side, but worth the cost.

Whilst visiting North Berwick, we came here with friends. I decided to go for a two scoop tub, having the double espresso & whisky flavoured ice-creams. Both tasted nice, however my personal choice, is they could of been alot stronger. The ice-cream parlour itself, was absolutely spotless, & bright, with a lovely display of various ice-creams.

Das Eis von Alandas Gelato zählt sicherlich nicht nur zu den besten Eiscremes in Schottland, sondern braucht sich auch vor anderen nicht zu verstecken. Wir haben verschiedene Sorten probiert und waren jedes Mal begeistert. Man merkt, dass hier hochwertige Zutaten und keine Aromen und Farbstoffe verwendet wurden. Egal ob Sea Salt Caramel, Belgian Milk Chocolate oder andere Sorten … es schmeckt so sensationell gut. Verglichen mit anderen Eisdielen ist das Eis hier schon durchaus als teuer zu bezeichnen. Trotzdem ist die Eisdiele jederzeit gut besucht und das Eis alleine aufgrund der Zutaten das Geld wert. Wer bei schönem Wetter in Schottland ein wenig italienisches Lebensgefühl sucht, für den ist ein Eis bei Alandas Gelato ein MUSS. Wir kommen auf jeden Fall wieder.

Choices were many and ice cream was delicious - expensive as you pay £10 for 2 flavours in a tub. I enjoyed it but won't be back.

Not the best icecream I’ve ever had. The Amerena cherry was pretty tasteless. My husband’s strawberry much the same. Very expensive for a very small tub

We queued for half an hour to be served, and we’re then treated extremely rudely and served melted ice cream. We can only assume this place used to be good and is now complacent due to popularity, which we suspect will soon decline if service and product do not improve. There was a mix-up with our order. Instead of an apology and trying to resolve the issue, the server adamantly insisted it was our fault. When we asked to speak to the manager, she was unbelievably rude, saying (after 30 seconds) “I don’t have time to listen to this” and walking away. She had no interest in ensuring her customers are well-treated and satisfied. The interaction was so upsetting that we did not take the final ice cream we’d paid for. The manager gave us a partial refund, accusatorially saying, “You’ve eaten it and want a refund!”, which was not the case. She then pushed one of our party’s shoulder and told us to leave. We have never experienced anything like this. Not usually reviewers, we felt compelled to share our experience because we’re all still in shock about what happened. The gelato we did have was average. Avoid this place at all cost!

We were turned away with two disappointed kids as they don’t clean the machine that makes the ice cream. They also refused to serve us anything. They have flavours with peanut butter. They also have ice cream that claims to be dairy free but if they don’t clean the machine i between uses it must be the same. My daughter has a peanut allergy and has been to many different t ice cream places and it has never been an issue. Most places just use a clean scoop and clean their machine. Peanut is such a common allergy.

Visited twice on our 4 night break to the area. The flavours were delicious and the quality of the ice cream was outstanding.

6 people, 6 different ice creams, all very average. Fairly long wait and very disappointing. I’ll try somewhere else next time.

The ices are very tasty, but very expensive for the size. Even a 2 year old had no trouble finishing hers - but at least she enjoyed it!

We visited Alanda’s twice in two days. Good choice of local dairy ice cream including some with local ingredients and flavours. Not the cheapest so wouldn’t like to go here with a big family, but the queues form for a good reason!

Looks great but flavour very fake. I had the Italian Cherry - cherry jam perhaps. The Belgium Chocolate - lacked any real quality chocolate flavour. I can make better at home.

The attitude and the Customer Service of the girl with blonde hair and the guy was awful. They impression I got was that they were stressed or unhappy about something.People are often quick to blame the staff but I am curious to what the story is. Happy staff usually equates to great customer service. The girl with black hair was very calm and friendly and apologised. I feel sorry for the other two staff. I wonder what’s happening behind the scenes to create this. But the ice cream was great. Shame they didn’t list the full flavours of ice cream our the shop. Maybe this a marketing plot to encourage people to buy those flavours of ice cream. Felt like a being on a conveyor belt when ordering ice cream. May the staff felt like that as well. May we just caught them at the end of a shift on a very busy hectic day and they were exhausted.I would recommend the place for ice cream but if you have a rude experience etc please ask the management or owners what improvements they are making for their staff. Staff should never been have to treat the customers in this way. I do not want the staff to get fired I want management to treat them like they would treat the very own children or family. Please not the review is my interpretation of my experience and the staff might have the most loving caring Boss or manager you could ask for. I wish the two members of staff all the best and I hope you continue to have joyful times working their.No offence taking. We all bad off days but doesn’t have to be that way.

I had to ask price as they were no where to be seen, told by lady they are at the back, obviously hidden as it is very expensive for pretty basic ice cream. Also positions are less than with other places. Over priced and underwhelming.

As per other times, when visiting NB we paid a visit to this ice cream shop. Although the ice cream was good, the tall blonde lady serving us which she appeared to be training the young man behind the counter, was rude and the cones were stale too. I would advise you not to take your custom for granted, especially during a pandemic and considering you are expensive too (£12.60 for 3 x 2 scoops).

Delicious gelato. Good choices and really tasty. It made my wife’s day! It’s in a busy area but there are car parks nearby if you are not on foot.

We walked past the ice cream store several times on our stay in North Berwick and finally made a late night visit and made our choice from the two counters piled high with creamy frozen treats. It was ment to be a treat for after our takeaway but it was a very naughty starter as it got enjoyed before we even made it back to our holiday let. Only issue is choosing which of the many flavours to have! Definitely worth a visit anytime.

Great choice of ice cream flavours and generous portion size, tempting even on a cold day and never disappoints.

It is easy to see why Alandas has won so many awards for their ice cream after my visit. Upon arrival, social distancing was enforced through floor markings and signs which makes you feel immediately at ease. The selection of flavours was excellent as was the taste. After visiting many ice-cream shops around the country Alandas is definitely in my top 3. Would absolutely recommend coming here.

This gelato is absolutely amazing. I got the Belgian chocolate and some chocolate gelato or ice cream can be kind of grainy but this was soooo creamy! Highly recommend!

First of all they did not wear disposable gloves, been in the middle of a pandemic this should of been.1st on their list before re opening, and passed the cones between staff before placing them in the cone holder.Whiskey cream was nice. Vanilla zero flavour. Small portions and overpriced

The best gelato I have ever tasted! I had the ferrero rocher with a flake and some toffee sauce.I’m not the biggest sweet tooth but I was blown away with how unreal this tasted. Very fresh and tasty, my girlfriend went for the salted caramel one and a flake and some toffee sauce. She was just as impressed as I was.Very adhering to social distancing to.10/10 me. I will be back ASAP!!

We popped in for a quick lunchtime treat. They are really on top of the social distancing and sanitisation and the ice creams are delicious.

Refused to make a milkshake because they were too busy. Servings tiny compared to what they used to be. Blatant profiteering from a pandemic. Hope people see sense and they shut for good.

Unfortunately, we didn't enjoy our ice cream. Portions were very small and way overpriced. On top of that, they were melting straight away, much quicker than they should. There are many better alternatives. Sorry.

My family had some great gelato from Alandas during our stay in North Berwick, and went back more than once as it was so tasty.However, I am allergic to nuts and they were absolutely useless with advising on this. On two occasions, different members of staff basically said ‘if you have a nut allergy then we recommend you don’t have anything at all’. Even flavours which were highly unlikely to contain nuts such as fruit sorbet. I said I understood that there could be cross contamination/traces, as with any ice cream shop. But they were unable to even produce ingredients for me to look at.For a place which advertises some vegan gelatos, thus catering for this dietary requirement, I was shocked at how bad they were on allergies.I’m still giving 3 stars as my family really did enjoy the gelato, but I really do think in this day and age they should be better at advising on allergies. Lots of establishments produce full allergy sheets, breaking down which allergens are present in each product. And I think it would be great if alandas did this too.

Alandas really does have amazing Ice cream. Never thought would find anywhere close to the ice cream, from Lucas Musselburgh. But this comes a very close 2nd. Their ice cream milkshakes are also amazing, & huge.But the prices are a bit over the top, even for the quality. Saying that their coffee/lattes ect are no more expensive than any others around, & cheaper than Costa. But are by far the best coffees out of all coffee shops around. If you've not tried their latte ect, try it, it's amazing coffees But For example a large ice cream milkshake is about £5. But would buy one again, but definitely wouldn't be regular.The ice cream ect is also a bit pricy. But again, if we choose to get ice cream, esp with my daughter when out & getting ice cream, will choose Alandas pay that ever so over priced, on most occasions as its by far best around.Would go there every time, if prices were not so high.That really is only reason for not giving full 5 star, was the over price even with the qualityBut definitely worth going to try them.

One of the best ice cream cones I’ve had in Scotland! The Ferraro Roche flavour is especially good. Went there yesterday and despite being a long queue out the door we were served very quickly. Well worth the wait!

This place is always busy, and for good reason! The gelato is homemade and super tasty - my favourites are the pink grapefruit sorbet and lemon meringue gelato. Really impressed to see you using biodegradable spoons!

Very impressed with the amazing quality ice cream, very smooth and creamy texture. Big size portion from the lovely manager. Had the lemon meringue and it was divine! They use eco-friendly spoons and products too which is great! Highly recommend.

Such a massive array of flavours and not overly priced. We visited early doors. It wasn’t the warmest day but being able to sit in was a bonus. Worth the visit.

I went there on the weekend, so it was very busy...with good reason! The flavours are tempting and my mint-chocolate and lemon-meringue pie scoops were excellent. Definitely worth stopping on your way to the beach!

Took the chance to have a gelato while the queue disappeared for half a second. £3.90 for a cone with two scoops, lots of flavours to choose from. Really very nice indeed.

it's a bit expensive, but it serves a wide variety of gelato (ice cream in the Italian style). It's authentic, tastes great and uses good ingredients. Tastes the same as something you'd get in Italy, and that's a real compliment

I visit at least three times a week its the best ice cream in east Lothian. And sorbets. There is seating inside and outside. Staff are friendly and service is quick .

It is easy to see why this ice cream is award-winning. It is absolutely delicious and a total treat at the Edinburgh Festival. Great flavours, really creamy and a fresh crunchy waffle cone. Yum.

Sure, there is plenty of choice and we had a few flavours between us. Nothing intense or particularly delicious, though. Very sweet and massively inconsistent portion sizes, as others have mentioned. They are more expensive than central Edinburgh and certainly not worth a special visit, unless to see the wide range.

The gelato is excellent and the service impeccable — we will be here for a week and have already been twice — we will probably be back every night this week!

Positively the most disgusting, ignorant service I have ever received, from the self professed owner, after entering the shop and waiting substantial time my friends and I were rudely told they were closed despite the fact, all three staff were behind the counter, and walked passed to collect chairs outside. Upon asking for service I was told we’re closed. I said is it usual to have people come in and wait 10 minutes before telling them this. At which point the supposed self professed owner not the girl I know to be the owner!? And have patrioned ever since said I don’t like your attitude get out your bared. Bared ? for asking why they just didn’t say they were closed even tho customers were in at the time ??? So after leaving the shop the ingoramass Owner then started on my friends selecting to service one and not the other. Well all I can say is after years of supportive custom, I will not be back VILE OWNER ? Perhaps the person who botched the work on her face may Botox on a smile good customer service costs you nothing.

We visit here fairly regularly and the ice cream is just fabulous. Smooth, creamy and always very delicious. Great choice of flavours which changes week by week; but with the golden oldies always available (vanilla, chocolate, strawberry etc) Recent favourites have been Kinder, Ferrero Rocher and Lotus Biscoff. Not the cheapest ice cream you’ll buy, but far far better than anything you’ll get from a supermarket. A good choice of sorbets available too. Give it a go!

Coming from St Andrews where we have two amazing gelaterias (Luvians and Janettas), I think I can safely say that Alandas is no comparison. Over priced and portion sizes are verging on the mean side The ice cream is scraped up using a spatula type utensil resulting in a meagre portion. £10 for 3 ice creams..... won’t be back. I’d as soon go buy a litre of Haagen Dazs and still have change out of a tenner!

Average ice cream however it was the staff that left a bad taste in the mouth. The way the manager (blonde lady mentioned in other reviews) spoke to a new member of her team was patronising bordering on condescending. It was the girl's first day and at least she offered a smile and manners unlike the belittling manager who was meant to be training her. Will not be back to support an establishment that is managed in this fashion.

Not just mouthwatering Italian style ice cream made on the premises, but original flavours & vegan sorbets too. The staff are friendly & will provide tasters before choosing. The shop send out litter patrols at busy times to keep the near vicinity clean,

When visiting North Berwick on a semi-warm day, you cannot give gelato a miss! Alanda’s Gelateria drew us in with its amazing selection and we were not disappointed! I had the millionaire shortbread gelato whilst my mum went for the lemon sorbet - both were delicious! The staff were very friendly and kindly let us try flavours as we were so indecisive. Will definitely be making a trip back to try more flavours when next in NB!
