Third time visiting St Andrews and pleased to say got a table for lunch. Our second success.
Staff are helpful and friendly BUT the food is exceptional.
Best Cullen Skink I've had.
Keep up the good work and standards

Our stay at the DoubleTree by Hilton Queensferry was okay overall, with a few highlights and several areas that could use improvement.
The best part of the stay was undoubtedly the stunning views—the location offers some truly picturesque scenery, especially around the bridges. Another bonus was the free parking, which is always appreciated and adds convenience.
However, we encountered a number of issues that took away from the overall experience. The room window didn’t close properly, which made it difficult to get a restful night’s sleep due to noise and draft. Upon entering the room, there was an unpleasant smell coming from the bathroom, reminiscent of urine, which was not ideal. The sink also had drainage issues, with water only partially draining and doing so very slowly.
Some of the light switches in the room appeared non-functional, not controlling any lights or power at all—it felt like they were just there for show, which was frustrating and confusing.
Breakfast was another letdown. For vegetarians, the hot food options were extremely limited, with only a small section available. While the pantry area had a few redeeming options like fruits, oats, plant-based milks, and smoothies, the overall food temperature was lukewarm, which took away from the appeal. Additionally, the orange juice and water weren’t served cold, which for me was a big disappointment. There was not much options regarding different hot drinks or cold drinks, which in other hotels offer this.
In summary, while the location and views were beautiful and parking was a plus, the room conditions and food experience fell short, and for that reason, I would not choose to stay here again.
My biggest bug bear is the Americanisation of our hospitality industry. However this place takes the biscuit.
It is a burger joint where you go up to order and collect your food, there is no table service etc. and when you go to pay you are presented with a chip and pin machine with a suggested minimum option of 15%.
As for the food, it’s brilliant. The burgers are juicy, the chips are crispy, the shakes are thick and tasty and, I was told, the hot dog was the best he had tasted.
The staff behind the counter were friendly. I do hope the tips make their way to them rather than lining an owners pocket.
I’d certainly go back but the ask of a 15% taste has left a bit of a sour taste.
For what it’s worth I did leave a tip, but am kicking myself as I wouldn’t have done so in five guys or McDonalds, where the service and concept is the same. I guess if you do t ask you don’t get

Great service, plenty of friendly staff, quick food service and the food was good, not amazing but good, prices are a little high for the area but justified by the good atmosphere and servicing
Called in, on the off chance as The Haven was the nearest pub to where we were staying, had to wait a short time before we could order food as a table with a booking had arrived just before us, food arrived and was all delicious, the ox cheeks were supberb, and couldn't fault it or the friendly service. Will definitely be back if ever in the area again.
Awsome restaurant I go here every time I am in the area as I think the food is superb, I would go as far as to say I had the best steak I have ever had in my life here absolutely stunning, also a very friendly environment and welcoming.

I stayed here for 2 nights as part of a wedding party. Check-in was easy and the receptionist was friendly and helpful.
Our evening meal and breakfasts were nice and the service was good, the waiting on staff didn't stop and all seemed to work really long hours.
Wedding meal and service also very good.
The room had good facilities and a massive bed. Nice little balcony and sea/golf course view. However, it needed to be cleaned better. There were cobwebs in all the corners (we checked in on Friday and they were still there on the Sunday), the seal on the shower screen was missing so the floor got soaked when showering, there was dirt around the bottom of the toilet and where the screws are. I rinsed the bath out with the shower (as I always do) and then ran a bath. When I went to get into it, there was a scum line all round the edge. I had to empty the water out, clean the bath and re run it. Many of the guests staying said their room wasn't very clean either.
When asked upon check-out how our stay was, I politely commented about the lack of cleanliness and was completely shut down and dismissed and was told the hotel does get dusty and it's just one of those things.
With some modernization and a good clean, this hotel could be really great!
