Haven Restaurant in Fife

We had a lovely meal in The Haven on Saturday night. The food was great, fabulous atmosphere , great views and the service was efficient and friendly. Myself and friends had a really great night thank you!

Just visited the Haven Bar Restaurant. Food was second to none as every one of the 6 in the group said food was unbelievably good for a small restaurant in Cellerdyke. Most welcoming from first step in the door and we were eager to see how it would be. Calum and V looked after us so well and explained how they would cook the steak but it would be impossible to cook it without some pink meat because of the cut of beef. It came out perfect as requested well done but was much tastier than that. Was everything we hoped for 👍

Staff are lovely and kind, this place must stay open as a vital community focus and meeting point. Long may this bar live <3

My wife and I popped into the Haven on Wednesday night for a few beers and a trip down memory lane. It's been far too many years since I was last in Cellardyke in Anstruther. The Haven is a beautiful bar situated just beside the small harbour with some stunning seaviews views. The pub was warm and well furnished and the hosts (Frazer (dad) and Cameron (son), I may be wrong as I picked their names up from regular patrons chats ) We enjoyed a few good beers and gins and some chat about righting the wrongs of the world. We didn't eat at the restaurant as we already had reservations that evening for the local Indian restaurant. However , from the number of people arriving and the bookings being made, I'm sure the food equals the atmosphere and the friendliness of the hosts, which were both first class. I would highly recommend a visit to the bar / restaurant at any time however, their beer garden would be a fantastic venue on a spring or summer evening and from our earlier chats there seems to be lots of planned entertainment over the coming weeks.

Great spot for good food and a drink. Staff are excellent and the service was spot on. All the team at the Haven were super helpful and pleasant on the occasions we've been in for a bite to eat. Views out over the harbour are great too. Definately be visiting again. You always get a warm welcome from Trevor Calum and the team.

Attended a fundraising event on St Andrews day. Great fun with excellent music and good company.

We’re regular visitors to Anstruther. We’ve been coming to the Haven at least once a year for the last 15 years. In the last year or so we’ve been really disappointed with the downturn in service and atmosphere. Table service is consistently poor and items on the menu are often unavailable. Weekend nights are often given over to live music. This was initially great and of a good standard but now is basically a communal sing-a-long. This is obviously fine and is well-attended by locals and participants but means diners are quickly forgotten and the staff are overwhelmed. The Haven just needs to decide if it’s a restaurant or a community venue and adjust its bookings accordingly. That will avoid disappointment.

Was recommended to go here for dinner but walked past as it didn’t look inviting from the outside. Mistake! We called in for a drink a couple of days later and it was really nice inside. Friendly, comfortable and reasonable prices. Will definitely eat here next time.

We came here for the past three nights and it's safe to say it did not disappoint. Starters were very good (ranging from the likes of Chowder to Mussels) and mains were really nice (I would highly recommend the Ox Cheeks). Nice atmosphere and pub grub.

We had a lovely lunch meal after walking 5 miles along the coast ….. staff were lovely and food was brilliant we will for sure be back! Thank you for being lovely in helping us find a taxi also!!

It was a lovely restaurant! The flat iron steak was the best I'd had and my husband enjoyed his mackerel pate and haddock n chips. There was also a community band playing. We had a really good night. Thankyou xx

We walked passed the place a few times before we decided to go in, staff were very friendly and helpful. The food was very tasty, we shared the muscles and both had the steak and ale pie If you’re in the area it’s worth a visit.

Exceptional service. After 4 weeks travel in Scotland this was the best meal we have had. Seafood starters, excellent, slow cooked ox cheeks with vegetables so tender and tasty. You can’t go wrong here.

Fantastic wee spot, if you're nearby on a sunny day they have a wonderful beer garden. Great food, fabulous staff and they have a wide a selection of drinks. If you like a whisky they've got a good selection of them too. Can't recommend the Haven enough.

My favourite place in Anstruther. The food is fantastic & the service is impeccable. They also have incredible music nights. Great location & would highly recommend.

As we had a dog with us not made to feel welcome at all. Girl serving had a real attitude, if they don’t want dogs they should just say so. Will definitely not visit this establishment again.

Flat steak was good, steak pie not great at all there was one big lump of meat that was strung with fat, pastry was not pastry is was flat and like cardboard. Flat pint of lager, on returning it to the bar was informed, sorry they had been busy and the glasses were not dried, seriously!! Won't be back there and was told it is being sold, doesn't matter to me.

If you only needed a pub for its views then this would be unbelievable but the pub, beer garden are fantastic, we were lucky enough to enjoy a group of musicians playing an impromptu gig in the beer garden which topped off a great afternoon

Scoped this place out for a meal by asking others to rate it when we went in for a drink. I had steak pie and my wife had roast beef. The only thing wrong with the steak pie was not having a big lump of bread to mop up the last of the gravy as it was delicious. My wife looked at the massive pile that was the roast beef dinner and said she'd never finish all that. Yet every morsel was cleaned off the plate. Great very dog friendly service with a specific section near the back door reserved for dog owners. Dog biscuits and water provided and much fuss made of our little Fergus. Ox cheek also came highly recommended. Highly recommended and we will be back every time we are at Cellardyke. Great sun trap back garden beer garden too in summer months.

Very friendly pub with a good range of draught beers.

Lovely restaurant with fantastic food. Mussels, haggis bon bon’s for starters and fab steaks for main with the most amazing onion rings ever. Staff are friendly and attentive and nothing is too much trouble. Vanessa in particular when we visited is a great host and a credit to restaurant.

We popped in on a cold, windy Friday night in March, it was pretty quiet, but the food was great, beer was great, and service was excellent. We’d definitely go back, simple food, made well and good prices, recommended.

We visit regularly for dinner and always find the food to be good. Steak pie a winner, the burgers are good too. Definitely worth a visit if in the area.

Another lovely meal in The Haven. Having been been coming to Cellardyke for many years for one of our annual holidays and have had at least one meal in The Haven each time. Love the views onto the harbour and the staff who are really pleasant.

We had the mussels in white wine sauce. The mussels were simply outstanding! Also very courteous service. I would have liked to give it 6 stars.

Dropped in on a warm Sunday lunchtime. Had the mussels and some fries. Mussels were plump and delicious. Served with v nice home made ryebread. Good beer on tap. Old style laid back atmosphere, nice views of harbour and Isle of May. Friendly service. Nice garden too.

Really cool little restaurant bar just yards away from our front door while staying at cellardyke. Informal and relaxed with attentive, professional and friendly waiting staff. We settled just for a main course but if you want filling up I'd suggest having a starter too. We had roasted cod, muscles and Ox cheek all were delicious. The roasted beetroot with the ox cheeks was excellent. They have a decent and not too pricey wine list also. Would highly recommend but phone to book.

Only popped in here for a wine after walking from Pittenweem, through Anstruther to Cellardyke and to rest our weary feet! Didn't have nay food though but the menu seemed good. Garden out the back was on different levels with some flowers, so it made it from the ordinary beer gardens.

Sehr gutes englisches Essen. Besser als das, was sonst Standard ist. Sehr nettes, aufmerksames, junges Team. Preiswert.

Visited back in April with the wife, and had a very pleasant meal. The restaurant interior can be described as a bit dated, but overall a nice environment for a meal. We both had the Ox Cheeks, which was delicious and very flavourful. Food took a bit of time to come out, but I can’t grudge that at all as it was fairly busy. Service was good, maybe a little slow in clearing plates and a little behind in attentiveness, didn’t cause any issues though. Though I’m going off older notes and memories, I can still remember having a good experience here, would recommend!

We’ve been coming every time we visit Scotland. Trevor and staff and offerings always wonderful. Our absolute favorite in all of Fife.

We visited this wonderful traditional pub/restaurant in late May during a hot sunny weekend and enjoyed the lovely atmosphere with food to match. A pile of excellent fish and chips and fresh fish cooked to perfection. What made this so memorable was the welcome we got from the owner. His son was running a marathon that day, in memory of his late wife/landlady/the lad's mum, (taken way too soon we learned), yet here we were, being cared for with such decency and care. We all lifted a glass, and donated to the cause.

We had a drink here night before coming for a meal. Handy location to where we were staying. Food very nice. Lovely girls working the bar and restaurant. Got a table overlooking the sea.

The Haven never fails to please. One of the most enjoyable meals we've had so far this holiday with excellent mein host and super serving staff.

Great food and great views of the paddle boarders. We had mussels with a great garlic cream broth, ox cheeks in a nice red wine au jus and roasted cod in a caper sauce. All well cooked and delicious

Direkt am Hafen von Cellerdyke, sehr gemütlich. Fish and Chips von feinsten und das Personal ist immer sehr freundlich. Unbedingt empfehlenswert.

Very nice meal. Family of 4 ate. 3 adult meals, one child's. With a drink each cost £60. All meals very happy with nicely presented and tasting food.

Didn’t eat only had one drink all based on the unwelcome reception from a man who appeared to be a cook ( not chef). We arrived and the place appeared to be closed, having seen this person wandering in the dimly lit background we just managed to attract his attention which appeared to be a case of “oh, another bloody one” . We where met at what appeared to be a service entrance, once in we explained that we thought they were shut only to be told “ this is the entrance and it’s upstairs” in his inimitable Basil fawlty way. Once upstairs we purchased our drink from the bar and sat in what I can only describe as the waiting area to a cheap Indian restaurant, having perused the tacky A4 printed menu we decided to try one of the other establishments in nearby Anstruther , we finished our drink quickly and went downstairs to the “Entrance “ to see a sign on the inner door stating that they were open and the restaurant was up the stairs, this clearly would have been better placed on the back of the “Entrance “ had this been the case we wouldn’t have had to inconvenience the rude “ cook” , think the place should be renamed “The Misbehaven”

Fantastic place, food was amazing and staff and locals were very friendly. Mussels and mozzarella for starters, steaks for main all cooked to perfection. Great wine list too. Partner still talking about how good the mussels were 3 days later 😊. Will definitely be visiting again.

Four of us went to the Haven in January on a Sunday evening for dinner. Two of us had the Ox cheeks which were amazing and two had the Chorizo burgers which looked fabulous and tasted just as good. They also serve an excellent pint of Guinness and good selection of non alcoholic options making this an excellent choice for dinner or lunch. Have been here a few times for a beer but I didn't realise the food was as good as it was. Would definitely dine here again.

Friendly staff, cosy feeling bar and well priced

Visited for the first time with fiends for lunch. The service was excellent and the surroundings are traditional. The food is stunning, this is definitely worth visiting. Will return when in the area.

Had a lovely meal here when staying over for a few days in Cellardyke! Food anazing,fresh, tasty, reasonable prices and staff were very attentive and lovely …. We will definitely be back. Opening hours Wednesday to Sunday in the winter.

The food was mediocre and the cream on the pudding was off. However what killed it for us as a family was the lady who was in charge, never have we experienced such a rude unhelpful individual. She was awful with no customer service skills what so ever. As a family we have travelled to many places and unfortunately this is top in a poor experience. Thankfully Anstruther and Cellerdyke offer other places to eat where the staff offer a warm welcome to their customers.

We enjoyed a wonderful evening in this typical local restaurant. It was the first evening during our Fife Coastal Walk.

Nice wee pub. Again it was just a visit for a refreshment on our walkabout. Tables inside were booked, so we ordered a drink and sat out in the beer garden. It was baltic, lol, but lovely garden area. My partner found a wee secret castle at the back of the garden, big kid, but we enjoyed the visit. Friendly staff, well worth a look in.

A year ago, I gave it 5 stars but not this time. The food was fine, the menu had reduced from a year ago & there was the a la carte menu, but no bar menu. The service was okay, the staff were attentive. The restaurant was empty at 9.00 with no atmosphere. Anstruther is an easy walk with some good restaurants there. That is what I will be doing next time.

Was staying at caraven park and read reviews about excellent food and being dog friendly as we have 2 dogs. Called to book a table but only allow dogs in beer garden. So not really dog friendly unless its a nice day to sit outside. We went to The Boathouse in Anstruther and staff, food etc were excellent and couldn't do enough for you and the dogs. Perfect if you have dogs and want a really nice meal in a relaxed atmosphere

The staff here are very friendly and helpful. I had carrot and lentil soup to start, with excellent gluten-free bread from local bakery Barnetts. The soup was blended and very tasty. Then my roasted cod with roast potatoes, samphire, and capers was beautifully cooked and...

Our second visit to The Haven and both occasions were fabulous. We were a table of 6 last night and the food, ambience and friendly staff made it a great evening. Would definitely recommend and we will definitely visit again next time we're in the area.

Excellent quality meals with a lovely view over the water

Attended the monthly open mic for first time. What a friendly and talented bunch of folk they are! Great night and will definitely be back! The food smelled great too so will need to sample that.

Can't fault Haven. Service and quality of food excellent. Had Iron Steak cooked excellently as asked for my partner had the Cod and was equally impressed. Certainly recommend. Need to book in advance, they have two sittings on a Sat.

The food and service were spot-on. Like all places they are suffering from staff shortages but are managing numbers booked so everyone still gets great service. I recommend phoning ahead to book.

Had a superb lunch here with my wife after walking the coastal path from Crail. The best fish & chips I've ever tasted eaten outside in the garden! Highly recommended.

Good choice of menu for fish meat or vegetarian eaters. Small but comfortable dining are overlooking the pituresque harbour. Rerally good service and tasty well presented meals. Happy to recommend.

Great food, good beer and lovely views of the sea from our window table. The bar man on our first visit really knew his drinks and gave us some excellent advice about the gins they had.

My wife and i had i lovely meal thanks to a excellent recommendation from our holiday home provider Lisa. I would highly recommend to book in advance as it was so busy and the food was excellent. We have already booked again within a week to celebrate our first week of marriage.

Popped into the Haven this evening & not disappointed. Friendly, welcoming staff & lovely food. Delicious ox cheeks & hubby had the cod which he said was lovely. Beer garden at the back to soak up the sun. Definitely worth a visit.

Food average, beer not bad at all but you can't get a dog inside anymore so only take a mutt if the weather is fine and you can sit in the garden ( after taking your dog through the forbidden zone).

Longstanding patron of The Haven as a regular visitor to Cellardyke over 20 years and the food continues to be delicious and of the highest standard. Local produce is championed on the diverse menu and the staff are friendly and professional- not to be missed!!!

We ordered fish and chips, the size and quality was very poor compared with The Waterfront and was about the same price. The sticky toffee pudding and ice cream was very good but way overpriced.
