Booked an evening meal here and we’re a bit surprised at how basic and cafe like the restaurant is. However, the waiter was very friendly and helpful, menu choices covered every taste and the food was really good solid Scottish food. The steak pie was especially good.

This was a last minute booking because we were running late. The staff couldn’t have been more friendly and the food was fresh and piping hot we had chille and it had a lovely heat just after eating it nothing to strong. We had apple crumble for dessert this was made fresh as the dishes were super hot but also amazing tasting will be beck next time am up this way.

A chef who knows how to balance their flavours and does it well. Innovative dishes that surprise and please. Front of house staff that care and are knowledgable (and know when to go and ask when they don’t). What’s not to love! Two minutes from Oban centre is no excuse not to go!

**A Delightful Breakfast with a Blonde Twist!** ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ After reading a handful of reviews online about the *attitude* of the blonde lady at this café, I figured I’d pop in and see if I’d be the next unfortunate soul to fall victim to her alleged "bad vibes" — spoiler: I wasn’t. In fact, I had one of the most pleasant breakfast experiences I've had in a while. It was a rainy Friday morning, I had my dog with me (who, by the way, is strictly not allowed inside — fair enough), so I asked if I could sit outside. Without skipping a beat, the blonde lady appeared with a smile, took my order, and even offered me some great substitutes for things I didn’t particularly like on the big breakfast. (Very accommodating, I must say!) But here’s where it gets *extra* special: She didn’t just take my order, she also threw in a free sausage for my dog, who was living her best life with a little playtime from the lady. I’m pretty sure the dog had a better breakfast than I did. After I finished my meal, which was delicious by the way, the blonde lady came out to collect payment, and we had a fun bit of banter — me being English and all, I like to think I brought some charm to the table. But the point is, it was a *pleasant* exchange — no attitude, no cold stares, just good vibes all around. Let’s be honest: People are quick to complain online, especially without ever bothering to address an issue with the staff directly. It’s easy to write a review when you’ve had a bad experience, but not everyone gets the chance to speak to someone first and see if the problem can be fixed. If you’ve read a bad review, take it with a pinch of salt. I found my experience to be nothing short of excellent. So, if you're thinking about coming here based on some negative reviews — ignore them. If you’re open-minded and have a good attitude yourself, you might just find a delightful blonde lady (and some tasty food) to make your day. I’ll definitely be back for round two! P.S. If you happen to have a dog, bring them along. They’ll love it. #GoodVibesOnly

This place used to be good, but it's not customer friendly any more. Breakfast HAS to include black pudding - no substitutions, even though most people don't like the stuff. Perhaps they over ordered. Anyway, it means you either get a rather small breakfast for £9.55 or you get a normal sized one and throw 20% away. A minor point, perhaps, but shows a particular attitude to customers in general.

We did stay at Airds, having been once before many years ago. It has changed hands twice since then and is very different. The guest lounge was rather airless and largely unoccupied during our stay. Our room was comfortable if a little dull, on the ground floor looking onto the car park at the side of the hotel and accessed through the small bar and two difficult small fire doors. The bathroom will benefit from a couple of twin hooks for towels, which I recommended to reception when I left. The bed had a 15 tog quilt! It was as if we were in the Arctic - admittedly summer has not arrived this year but we felt pinned to the mattress and reorganised with other covers we found in the wardrobe! The dinner on the first night was lovely and we were joined by our daughter. The food was tasty and generous and the service was good. The second night was not in the same league. The food was not so good, and the service was dreadful with a very long wait. We understand there was a breakdown in communication between server and chef. I did tell the hotel how I felt and I am sure they will be turning things around as soon as the staffing levels can be fixed. Everywhere is having shortages at present.

Had a late lunch at the cafe last week prior to a couple of hours in Campbletown and returning for an overnight at The House which is part of the same business. Super nice people made us welcome and the food (lunch and breakfast next morning) was delicious. Very clean cafe and stores and I'll say again the very nicest of staff. Would return and recommend without hesitation. This is how a business should be run and why it apprears to be so successful. An all round good experience.
