The best restaurants in Argyll & Bute Central Scotland

My aunt recommended this place as I was taking her out for lunch and I had never been. I ordered soup and a main course and she ordered a main course and a dessert. After a wait of about 20 mins the waitress arrived with our 2 mains. I told her I was still waiting for my soup. She took my mains away and I told my aunt to start eating before her food got cold. Another 10 minutes later my soup arrived which was in all fairness, piping hot and delicious. Then another 10 minute wait for my own mains to reappear which was stone cold, obviously just left from its previous visit. THEN another waitress appeared to tell me it was 'my fault' for not asking for the soup to be delivered first as they serve the soup there after the main. Never in my 70 odd years have I ever been to a restaurant where the soup is served after the mains. Also noticed the couple on the table next to us were delivered another tables food. The tables were not allocated an individual waitress and they appeared to just go around the various tables at random. It was totally disorganised and to be told the error was 'my fault' was outrageous. I for sure will never return or recommend and my poor aunt was mortified as this place was her idea. I checked my receipt and this whole debacle took around an hour and a half for a snack lunch. Be warned.

Really disappointing meal. Staff were friendly but food was dreadful. We all have fish and chip and left with the question “how many times had that fish hit the fryer?” We didn’t make a fuss but quietly paid our overpriced bill. With hingsight really wish we had as it was one of the worst meals I’ve eaten in a long time.

Great little restaurant, menu had a great choice and extremely reasonable. Would highly recommend the steak pie it was superb Staff were brilliant, nothing a problem

Fantastic location overlooking the bay.

Not many places to go for a cup of coffee in Tighnabruaich but this tearoom did not disappoint. We were staying near Tarbert and got the early morning ferry across. After a long walk we were ready for coffee. What a lovely tearoom. As we sat there fresh home made scones came out so we ordered coffee and I had a scone. It was the best fruit scone I have ever had - and I’ve had a lot. The lady was friendly and we were not rushed. Highly recommend

A chef who knows how to balance their flavours and does it well. Innovative dishes that surprise and please. Front of house staff that care and are knowledgable (and know when to go and ask when they don’t). What’s not to love! Two minutes from Oban centre is no excuse not to go!

This place used to be good, but it's not customer friendly any more. Breakfast HAS to include black pudding - no substitutions, even though most people don't like the stuff. Perhaps they over ordered. Anyway, it means you either get a rather small breakfast for £9.55 or you get a normal sized one and throw 20% away. A minor point, perhaps, but shows a particular attitude to customers in general.

Really good food and attentive friendly service which was laid back but efficient and knowledgable. Our waitress had only been there for a week and made the experience all the more enjoyable by the rappor she seemed to have with all the guests.

From the minute we arrived Lou looked after us till the minute we left Lou gave excellent customer service throughout our stay We had dinner on arrival which was delicious & like wise the breakfast was great, nothing was a bother for Lou Room was excellent very modern & spotlessly clean Thanks for making our stay very welcoming defo be back Mark & Shirley

Lismore is a lovely island. The cafe provides a convenient stop - sheltering from wind and rain! Good menu - panini recommended. Good coffees and cakes.

A really delicious meal served by friendly attentive staff. We cannot recommend the Glen more highly! Plenty of veggie fish and meat options and an absolutely amazing homemade Sicilian cheesecake! Thank you for a great evening to celebrate our anniversary.

Beautiful garden centre, shop and cafe. Loved the whole set up here. Seafood platter for lunch was amazing. Great cakes too. Couldn’t fault it. Can totally recommend.

Wife and I had lunch at the Glenbarr garden centre cafe. We were able to book a table online. The staff were really friendly and I had one of the best burgers I've ever had anywhere. Really tasty and succulent. Nice range of scottish produce in the shop.

I ordered a takeaway from here and it was really delicious. Easily the best tikka korma I have ever had. Everything ordered was enjoyed by the family. Only negative was the chicken pakora is tiny strips and a very small portion for the money. But thats just personal preference.

Party of 8 visited today for breakfast. The owner couldn't have been more helpful and the breakfast rolls were excellent. Great value for money and we all enjoyed the chat!
