Nice cakes and coffee, but were very passive aggressive with polite requests for our group. If you’re more than 4 people, don’t ask to sit in. Expecting a backhanded response to this review incoming, as if you’re not local, I don’t think you’re really wanted.

Every time we are at this cafe, the menu is great, prices are very reasonable and, best of all, mocha and hot chocolate are made with real cocoa powder! I couldn't believe how rich the taste of mocha was! Absolutely delicious drinks and sweet treats 😋 Cards and cash are accepted but cash is preferable as bank costs take a toll on the small business like this. I feel it is something we, as customers, never think about... The owners of the cafe are very friendly and helpful. We come to Argyll a few times a year, and a visit to this cage has become our favourite thing to do now ☺️🙏🏻

Lovely little cafe with really tasty homemade food. I think the lady who served us owns the cafe. She was very friendly and despite being the only person there to cook, take orders, serve the food and clean we weren’t kept waiting long for our food, which was a generous portion of delicious food.

I do wonder whether the replies to feedback about this Tearoom are designed to put people off leaving them. We arrived mid-morning. We asked if the Tearoom could accommodate 7 of us (there were empty tables). A rather brusk response directing us. Order taken with no interaction. Few options for cake. At least we were spared the treatment of the next party that arrived who were basically told to split up or lump it. We were all so embarrassed that the people next to us vacated their table so the next party could be seated. We left quickly. Won't be returning. I'm expecting no acknowledgement from the owner.

This is a Place to Avoid Not Customer Friendly at All. Go to the Cafe Next door . We met a group who had just been Rudely turned away despite Seating availability We hardly stepped over the doorway before the Owner stated It’ll be at least 20 minutes before anything available Yes there were Tables available Yes they needed clearly But Businesses keep saying they Need more Customers so a Polite If you are Happy to give me time to clear Please take a Seat ! And this was in the Remote Scottish Highlands. Clearly No Problem with Footfall for her !

Hidden Gem on Scotland's West Coast Dates visited: 28 June and 30 June 2022. The Tearoom in Tighnabruich is excellent in every respect. We visited on 28 June for breakfast. It was clean, comfortable and well-maintained, while the staff were friendly and welcoming. The coffee was definitely among the best we've had in any establishment in Scotland, and the breakfast rolls were tasty and well-cooked. We enjoyed our visit so much that we returned a couple of days later for lunch. The coffee was just as good as first time around, and the Haggis, Cheese and Red Onion toasties really hit the spot! The scones were very tasty as well. If I have one minor quibble, it's that the service was quite slow on our second visit, which I'm guessing is because the place was quite busy. The Tearoom offers great food and coffee at affordable prices, served by courteous and efficient staff. It's in a beautiful location, too, right next to the lovely Kyles of Bute. Definitely pay a visit if you're passing through Tighnabruich, and even if you are not. We'll definitely return in the future.

We had a lovely bite to eat in The Tearoom today! Loved the bright and cosy feel of the place, the service was really friendly and there was a pleasant atmosphere. We both had the haggis toastie, which we'd both recommend (even the accompanying side salad was a delight)! Highlight for me was the hot chocolate though: it's not often a hot chocolate is noteworthy, but this one most definitely was!! The cake selection was great too, and the banana muffin we chose to round off our bite to eat was a winner. We found The Tearoom to be very reasonably priced and excellent value for money - would highly recommend a visit here.

We popped in for lunch after a walk along the loch. I had a bacon bun, with the lightest bun and it was filled with plenty of bacon, beautifully cooked. My husband asked for poached eggs on toast and could he have cheese on the toast. This did not worry the lady at all and she even asked him if he would lie the cheese melted, which he did. Anyway he really enjoyed his lunch and the tearoom had Frobishers real apple juice that pleased him. I had a pot of tea and a bone China teacup. Tea always tastes better out of bone China ...lol. I enjoyed anyway. I had a piece of lovely Victoria sandwich, it was scrumptious and my husband had millionaires shortbread, he said it was the best he had ever had and would have eaten more. We took away 2 raspberry and white chocolate scones. The bill was £23, for what we had great value. The lady running the tearoom was on her own, working her butt off, doing everything and she was still friendly, courteous and efficient. There are only a few tables inside, but you can call ahead and take out. You may want to consider doing this if it looks busy. Well worth a visit.

We are a party of 5 who were over at Portavadie for my 60th birthday. Due to the entry being 3.30 we thought we’d stop off at tighnabruach for lunch. We found The Tea Room and asked for a table for 5, after being asked to stand outside in the sleet for 15 minutes till the table was cleared, we were allowed to enter, we ordered five toasties, 8 cups of tea, a can of irn bru and 5 cakes total £62 ! The way we were spoken to and treated was shocking! In these troubled times you would think a tea room would be grateful for any custom. It was very obvious we were an inconvenience, as the cafe very quickly filled up and the regulars were treated totally differently from us. Would not hurry back

Was travelling around and looked at reviews of various cafes and restaurants in area to inform our choices of eating places. The Tearoom had good reviews and first impressions were very positive - it was small, quirky and nicely decorated. The cakes looked tasty and inviting. The server briskly asked if we only wanted tea/coffee or if we wanted food which we said we did. We were handed a menu with no real interaction or communication and our order was taken in the same efficient but cold manner. Unfortunately when the food was delivered it was then that we noticed how dirty the server’s t-shirt and apron were. This may have been a result of her baking/cooking but it really put us off our food. We did eat some of what we ordered because it looked and tasted good, but it’s a shame that this really put us off because the tearoom itself, including the toilets looked clean.

We only wish it was the first place we tried and we ended up eating here three days in a row! The other places were tried were rather mediocre or below par, but The Tearoom is just great! A warm and friendly welcome and homely and pleasant atmosphere. The menu is simple, but it's always better to do the simple things well than to be overly fancy and make a mess of it. The all day cooked breakfast was delicious, the poached eggs were cooked to perfection and the home baking...is just "Wow!!!". Massive meringues with fresh whipped cream and fresh fruit are divine and the chocolate brownies are just the right amount of gooey. We cannot recommend The Tearoom highly enough! I had visited the Tearoom before and followed on Facebook seeing regular pictures of the wonderful baking. I've been a big fan of this place, telling all I knew about it. However, my latest was a great disappointment. I noted on arrival, the wonderful smells and delicious looking food all about me. My friend and I were very happy to be back. I thought the menu was new and noticed that it prompted me to discuss any allergies with staff. I'm not able to eat wheat so with a friendly smile I asked what there was gluten free. The smile was not returned and I was told well anything which doesn't have gluten in .... eggs, bacon, whatever. I have managed to work those things out for myself over the years. I ordered a salad and it was perfectly good. I asked then if there were any gluten free cake options and was told just the meringues. I have had meringue there before and it was quite a treat so said 'meringue it is then!'. My friend ordered a brownie which promptly arrived. My meringue never did. I didn't bother to repeat my request. My friend and I commented that the first smile we had from the proprietor was the one we saw as we left. The food my friend had was top notch but overall we were both disappointed with our visit and are not keen to return.

I live in Glasgow and come here when I'm in Cowal on holiday. I also follow The Tearoom on Facebook & have encouraged friends and family in Glasgow to come too. Came with a friend on Monday 30/4/18 and whilst the food was, as ever, very good (delicious cheese, red onion & haggis toasties) the service was overtly frosty & unwelcoming. The woman who served us did so begrudgingly as though we were actively causing her a problem by being customers. She also simply did not serve my friend her meringue yet brought me my brownie; both ordered at the same time. Because of her attitude we didn't bother reminding her - by this point not keen to give more business than necessary - and bought ice-cream at the shop, served by a friendly guy. It's a shame because it's such a pretty tearoom and the food is good. I'd be happy to forgo that though and go somewhere less pretty with more genuine service. I love this part of the country so much and usyally people in the area are happy to have customers and serve them.

We live a short distance away in Dunoon and often drive out this direction being retired. We have been to another small cafe here that was a real disappointment and which we will never return to, but this is so not the case with this establishment! The place is small but very nicely decorated, but the food is really, and I mean really really well done. Put together to a high standard, original and very tasty. The cook must have either been well trained or just a natural, my guess is a bit of both. Have been twice now and will be back. It's worth the drive from Dunoon for this place alone.

We popped in on a Monday afternoon for a spot of lunch. My husband had the full breakfast and the quality of the sausage black pudding and bacon was outstanding. I had a cheese toastie and it was the best bread I have ever had ! We had to stay for cake as they looked soooo good. We had Meringues ! They were amazing. Great lunch and if I am in the area again I will be back for sure.

We had lunch here on a Monday which seems to be a busy day as some other local cafes are closed. Despite being rushed off her feet the owner was efficient and still managed a smile.

Very friendly staff, warm welcome after a cold walk. Toasted sandwiches are very filling with a wonderful salad to accompany it with strawberries and blueberries (trust me it so works) Hot choc is a must have. Highly recommended, beautiful!

Popped in on Friday for a snack. Had a little time on my hands. Had a lovely Pot of tea and Fruit scone with strawberry jam and cream. Thoroughly enjoyed and beautifully presented. Friendly staff and not my first visit. Will visit again when in the area.

I called in with family and friends for a quick snack. The food was good, and service friendly. Prices were good too. The tea shop is a little small, but, other than that, can't fault it.

China cups and plates. Gorgeous baking. Everything a tearoom should be. Cakes are amazing and all hand baked by the owner. Has a Facebook page showing the days scrumptious treats! Enough to tempt anyone to visit! Reasonably priced lunch with a twist..... love it!

We had been to this cafe before as a family and didn't like it but we decided to give it a second chance. We entered about 20 mins before closing and got the feeling we weren't wanted. There is a sign saying to let them know of allergies. So I raised that one of our party needed gluten free options. The lady said they had nothing. I suppose that is one way to cater for them - just don't. Couldn't she even stock a few prepacked biscuits or cake that are gluten free? We had a coffee and tea and jut had to eat our own gluten free bars we brought. Then paid. The attitude of the owner really leaves a lot to be desired. Having given two chances we won't be back.

After appalling service at Duck Bay we went here for lunch. Warmly welcomed. High chair for my grandson and the lovely waitress brought a bowl of water for the dog. Food was amazing and we were able to eat it indoors without being rained on because we had the dog (as happened at Duck Bay)! She also brought a treat for the dog. This place is fabulous and welcoming. Had a wonderful lunch and will definitely be back. 5 star service and food.

Seriously over rated & expensive. Stopped for a quick breakfast. Service was so slow that we'd finished a pot of tea by the time the food arrived. Ordered toast, avocado and poached eggs. Toast was cold, eggs cold and avocado had some sort of green sludge mixed through it with toasted oats and seeds on top. Not what was ordered. Not what was on the menu and I had specifically said I wanted something plain. Don't bother - it's not worth it!!

Nowhere on planet earth makes soups like this place. Nowhere I tell you. This is the Holy Grail of soup makers. Simply divine creations that are different each day. I've never been a massive soup enthusiast but this place has me hooked. The butties aren't half bad too!
