TLDR: the food wasn't bad, but it certainly didn't live up to the price tag and too many things were predominantly sweet.
Stopped in for dinner while on vacation after browsing a couple other nearby spots for food. The food wasn't bad, but it wasn't great either and really didn't live up to the price tag.
The haggis bon-bons as a starter were just okay. Not much flavor to them and a pinch of salt would've gone a long way.
The menu looked great, and my lady opted to make a meal of a couple appetizers (the shrimp cocktail and the scotch egg), while I ordered the pan-seared duck breast.
The shrimp cocktail was not what we expected. The shrimp were the super tiny variety common to freezer bags, not plump and fresh. Honestly it all just tasted like mayonnaise.
The scotch egg was another under seasoned item and it was served with a chili sauce that was pretty sweet. If you're familiar with the Panda Express in the US (Chinese fast food), it tasted just like their sauce. It just didn't quite pair well and ate overly sweet.
The duck breast, sadly was just not great, primarily due to the cook on the duck itself. It was weird - the skin side needed more time in the pan as the fat has just a wee bit more rendering needed - but the meat of the breast was overcooked. I typically don't mind if my duck is medium, but this was verging on well-done. But it was really the sauce that turned me off, as again it ate really sweet. I understand it was an orange sauce and a little sweetness is fine, but this tasted and had a mouthfeel more like orange syrup than a well-reduced jus with orange, as there was virtually no citrusy aspect that one might find in say a duck a l'orange.
I will say that the service staff was very friendly and attentive, and we didn't have to wait long for drinks at any point and the food arrived in good time.
But, as with the theme of the meal, my lady ordered a Glenlivet old fashioned - which neither of us were expecting to be sweet, but it very much so ended up almost too sweet to drink.
I don't mean to nitpick and we certainly do love our sweets - but not when they're misplaced.
So sadly this missed the mark for us, but I'm hoping that we just were in on an off-night. Again, not bad, and I'd still say to pop in - but just wanted to make this review in case it's helpful to anyone.
Tenía el equivalente completo escocés y vegetariano. Ambos completamente excelentes. Tostadas y mermelada están incluidos! Posiblemente el mejor desayuno de la ciudad.
Servicio amable y eficiente.

The male manager’s attitude was shocking. When we asked for an apology after feeling offended, he played dumb and said, “You want porridge? We don’t have porridge.” I’m not sure if he thought he was being funny, but this level of disrespect and lack of professionalism is definitely unacceptable for someone in a managerial position.
If you’re interested in watching a clown performance, feel free to visit this restaurant.
Good food, although the vegetables were a little overdone. Good service but a little noisy in parts of the restaurant, where the larger parties were. Recommended though.
Zeer ruime keuze homemade pies, zowel hartig als zoet. We proefden er drie verschillende en ze waren alledrie erg lekker. Leuk om te zien hoe mensen van heinde en verre pies komen halen. Ontzettend hartelijke bediening. Mooi terras bij mooi weer, veranda zonder uitzicht bij slecht weer. Hele goede prijskwaliteitverhouding.

Expensive rooms that were impressive at first sight but kinda cheap once you’re in them, not the greatest accommodations, staff is incredibly unhelpful and rude. The real thing this place has going for it is it’s close to the airport if you have a flight in or out and need a night to stay, and it’s clean.
We ate here too - very expensive, we ordered lots of variety of foods (large party) and it seemed to have improper proportions of things in the plate, some said there was no flavor to their meals, alcoholic drinks were mostly everything but alcohol (still tasted good, but were virgin drinks charged like they were alcoholic).
Overall very displeased with the staff the most - literally seemed like we were putting the front desk out by checking in and out of the hotel.. which is basically their primary function.
We were only there for a single night, and it served the purpose of being close to the airport, and maybe the staff was just having a bad day.. but I would probably avoid except for special circumstances where I needed a stay close to the airport.
What a stunning location for a well equipped hostel. It’s virtually brand-new so everything is pristine and the facilities are amazing. The pub next door serves great food and the staff was so helpful and flexible with our arrival time, evening meal times and breakfast.
Entrée 3 poissons excellente, soupe du jour également. Fish and chips battered sublime croustillant, saumon roti un peu sec. Bière blonde brassée pour ce bar excellente et Sauvignon idem. Pas de dessert car le repas à duré plus de deux heures.. service sympa mais interminable...
Excellent location and very well presented. Staff were great. We were placed at a table at the window with lovely view of Edinburgh. Unfortunately the room was so cold it ruined the whole experience. There also seemed to be a discrepancy between the menu we got and the one on the web site e.g. Butternut squash risotto
The safari lounge is ok. The food is pretty good, but the prices are very high. The place gets pretty busy and service delivery suffers as a result. Overall, I would not return and suggest it be skipped.
We had a great experience at TGI Friday’s Glasgow Fort. We were served by Alasdair and he really provided amazing service. It was our first time out for a meal since having our daughter 3 weeks ago, and we were a bit anxious but he made sure he provided a suitable area for us to sit and it was such a positive experience. We had ordered the unlimited sesame chicken and refill drinks, we never had to ask once for a top up or refill, he was consistently checking and making sure we had everything we required - I don’t think I have ever had such a positive experience in any other restaurant - a credit to TGIs! Thank you so much Alasdair.
Frustratingly slow service. Tucked away upstairs and had to go and ask for someone to take our order. Food then took an age but was nice. I get that they were busy, but have to be able to service the number of tables you have.
