90% of pubs in Edinburgh are tourist scams. 95% of them have friendly staff. This one falls into the category where it is not a scam and the staff is very very worthwhile listening to... if you want a whiskey adventure! Time for a haika. I wrote this while drunk Went there to drink a scotch Here i found my favourite scotch!!

Went as part of a work-event at Christmas. The hall was stunning, big fireplaces and stunning chandeliers. The food was very very good and a fair portion. Service was prompt and polite and extra considerate for our colleague who can't have peanuts, reassuring him that they checked his meal each time. Food was served at a lovely temperature. I'd love to visit this place as a typical patron. Also, it's a treat to be so far up the Royal Mile as late as we were. Even though it was Christmas time, the street was fairly quiet and Edinburgh old-town looks lovely (ignoring the road works!)

Lunch here on the last Sunday in September was the best seafood I have ever tasted, fresh and beautifully presented. We had 5 dishes between 3 of us, and the crab cakes were my favourite, packed full with crab, delicious! We were warmly welcomed and the waiting staff were superb, patiently explaining the dishes to us. the fruit tart pudding looked almost too stunning to eat and was also delicious with melt in your mouth pasty. Lovely atmosphere too with mostly extended family groups, will definitely return if I am ever in Glasgow again.

We had a lovely dinner in this restaurant. The food was delicious and the staff incredibly kind. We feel welcomed and very well attended all the time. I tried the wee haggis for the first time ever and it was delicious. The mussels were really good too. Also the Geographer hamburger was one of the best burgers I have tried. I highly recommend this restaurant.

Ordered the “tikka sharing starter for two” it was two bits of tikka, paneer and a bought in pre cooked sheek kebab, not a good start. Then we got our mains, my friends was way too spicy, mine was not enough. Our naan bread came out smelling like fish? Very strange smell to it. We left majority of it. The only things that was decent was the popadoms and pickle tray. It’s a shame because we got recommended by the locals but it was a disappointment.

Update: Sapanish butcher lunch again: This is one of our favourite restuarants in the town. Like all our previous visits everything , food , service and ambiance was perfect. This was our first time visiting in a while due to the pandemic. This was a birthday celebration lunch and it was perfect. As with all our previous visits the food and service was perfect. The informal yet sophisticated atmosphere is excellent. Our server was excellent. She gladly explained all the dishes and provided us with recommendations. This is the reason it is so hard to get a reservation at weekends. We will definetely be returning , hopefully very soon.

First visit here and very impressed. We had such a warm welcome when we arrived and shown to a table. Each server who attended our table was friendly and helpful. I am all about the service and this venue has aced it. A wide selection of food. We had open sandwich (smoked salmon and there was plenty) and sirloin ciabatta both were super. Lovely atmosphere too. Will be back.

I don't quite understand why this restaurant is so highly rated. I was really disappointed with my experience. The gyoza were stodgey and largely tasteless. The vegan prawn crackers were the worst I've ever tried anywhere. As for the main, I had the Kung Pao. The peppers were completely uncooked and the sauce was a little too sweet to be enjoyable. This wasn't better than any corner Chinese takeaway you'd go to and yet 3 times the price. like The worst aspect was the fried rice, really not tasty. For £30 per person, I expect a much higher quality of food. At one point a large sustained blast of cigarette smoke started blowing through from the kitchen where one of the staff was clearly smoking near a doorway. This, as you can imagine, added to an already unenjoyable experience. This is the second time I've been here and my group weren't impressed the last time. I won't be giving it a third chance.

We stopped by this cozy restaurant on our way back to Edinburgh from Inverness, and it was a fantastic experience! The staff was incredibly friendly, making us feel right at home. Our dinner was absolutely delicious, the dessert was brilliant, and the coffee was superb – truly authentic Italian. The prices were very reasonable, making the whole experience even better. Highly recommend!
