Amazing restaurant! Went for a pre theatre dinner, highly recommend. The chicken kebab, garlic naan, lamb taco and potatoes were super tasty and great value for money!

The food is good and the place is tidy and nice. I recommend visiting, and the meat kebab is delicious

The food here is class. Nice small plates and something different. Great service and friendly staff. Literally all it needs it’s some background music - it felt a bit awkward at times as it was so quiet!

I had an extremely disappointing experience at this restaurant and would not recommend it to anyone. From the moment we walked in, the staff was unwelcoming and rude. We waited over 20 minutes just to be seated, despite the restaurant being half-empty. Once we were seated, the service did not improve. Our server was dismissive and seemed annoyed whenever we asked questions about the menu. When the food finally arrived, it was cold and clearly had been sitting out for a while. The quality of the food was subpar, especially for the price. To make matters worse, when we politely brought up our concerns, the staff was defensive and unapologetic. They made no effort to rectify the situation or offer any compensation. Overall, the combination of rude staff, low-quality food, and terrible service made this one of the worst dining experiences I’ve ever had. Save your time and money and go elsewhere.

Brilliant experience all round!

Royâ provides a warm and inviting atmosphere for enjoying Middle Eastern cuisine. The excellent service and diverse menu made it a perfect choice for a Friday night dinner, setting a great tone for the weekend. However, the Joojeh Kebab was disappointing. The chicken was dry and lacked flavor, suggesting it may have been overcooked and insufficiently marinated. Addressing this would greatly improve the overall dining experience.

Fabulous middle eastern restaurant with excellent vegan options. Staff are attentive, knowledgeable and helpful. Would highly recommend the mouhamara and chocolate hummus, and the pides are excellent

I've read on the website they are family freindly and welcoming kids until 6 pm. I went to have lunch with my friends and I bring my 3 years old boy. One of the staff came to ask me to to keep my boy quiet (which is impossible to keep him all the time quiet) which I wish I can because they have other customers.

Had a nice enough night, but it would have been improved by more help explaining some aspects of the menu from the staff who were pleasant overall. (Tacos were good, but the Chicken Kebab was dry) Advisement of a sauce to accompany it would have made a difference. Prices were reasonable.

Went here last night for dinner with some family for a long overdue catch up. The place is stunning, the menu is lovely and the staff were very friendly. I wasn’t sure I was going to love the menu because it’s not my normal favour food but absolutely everything we had was delicious. The dessert menu is the best I’ve probably seen anywhere I would have eaten anything off it. Will definitely be back!

First visit which can be a bit daunting but waitress was very helpfull with suggestions to what we might try. Everything tasted so fresh and flavoursome. We will definitely be back

Amazing food, my only thing was everything had ground nuts on, even things that this wasn't advertised. I have a very light nut allergy and chose things that didn't have nuts for that reason. I'm not moaning, just mentioning. the staff were very busy, so completely get it!

Loved their Middle Eastern inspired afternoon tea. Their choice of teas were great. We especially loved their Persian Chai. Insta worthy place 😍

Do not book in advance! I’ve been here once before and the food was ok but wanted somewhere local to go with friends for my birthday. I booked 3 weeks in advance with a note to say that I might have 2 extra people and will confirm in advance. I confirmed a week in advance of the booking only to be told by a very rude staff member that they had no availability left to accommodate and also refused to return the £70 deposit. It’s against the law to have accepted money and not received a service.

I'm not one to add reviews but this is some of the worst food I've ever had. The quantity is so less and the quality is soooo bad. The spices are imbalanced. It was too salty. The food honestly made me depressed. The waitress was polite though. I would never recommend this restaurant to my worst enemies

my wife; myself and two sisters were in for a meal before going to see Kinky boots. the food was outstanding ; the kebabs were delicious and the dishes from the Mazzeh menu were equally as nice; the staff were lovely and the prices were very reasonable. we will def be back; thanks for a lovely start to a special night out

Lovely tasty food, the dips were amazing. The selection on offer was great. A very good drinks menu too and friendly and knowledgeable staff.

Had a fantastic dinner at Roya, have chosen this place for an anniversary celebration, and we were blown away by the delicious food and amazing service. Special thanks to Connor who got me and my partner Prosecco on the house when we said it’s our anniversary. Lovely food and a great vibe, totally recommend!

Had our long over due Christmas night out here. Food was exceptional especially the mixed grill platter. Amazing decor and setting. All washed down with Mr baclava and caught in the rain cocktails. Will definitely be back again soon.

We had a pre paid banquet menu in their private room area. We arrived on time but was still met with unready tables thus having to wait 10-15 minutes before being able to be sat down. Once sat down the table arrangement was not suitable for such a large group reservation as it was two sets of tables with a distinct distance between them. Once the food came out it was obvious that it was merely an imitation of Mediterranean for as there was little emphasis on seasoning the food with the care of jail yard slop meat. As we were waiting for our food they queried us for drinks and asked for IDs which then led to one of the waiter rudely commenting on my friend’s appearance to be specific his teeth. Once the advertised banquet came out. It was met with a half hearted effort to supply food for 6 individuals. It was rather a tarnish on Mediterranean food as the seasoning was again lacking in flavour with the portions being inadequate to justify paying 30 pounds per head. Overall I was greatly disappointed in the experience of this restaurant. I hope they see this criticism as an opportunity to season their food. Many regards

Sunday roast menu is fantastic value for money and absolutely delicious - we had the whole roasted cauliflower. Excellent service also.

Roya is one of the best Mediterranean restaurants in Glasgow. However the service I experienced when I last went in was honestly shocking. The staff members didn’t want to be there, we had a table for 4 booked for 8pm. When we arrived they tried to give us a table for 2 as the other couple were running late. When I advised I booked a table for 4 the woman was flustered and advised only 2 of us walked in. I clarified I booked a table for 4, we then waited another 20 minutes for this table. The food itself I had no complaints, spot on. Let down by the service big time!

Roya had great reviews and write ups, so we thought we would give it a try. To me, Middle Eastern food is the type of food you could eat daily. However, you do get some restaurants that just don't ger the flavours right. Roya was incredible from start to finish. We did order a bit too much food, but everything we ordered was full of flavour and cooked extremely well. I will be back for sure and couldn't really recommend it enough.

It was my second visit to this fabulous restaurant, and both times have been exceptional. It has definitely become a firm favourite. The food is mouth watering and the flavours are unreal. The only thing I didn't enjoy was the tabbouleh, which is something I generally enjoy. I think there was too much lemon used and it was very sour, other than that I can't fault it.

The food and customer service were excellent, and the restaurant's aesthetic was amazing. It was a lovely experience overall - highly recommended!

Great to have something new. Visited for Sunday roast, had the lamb. So tasty, loads of alternatives making this a smashing take on a Sunday roast … you’ll need to be hungry to finish this feast. Veg and potatoes have super tasty spices added, lamb was super succulent, the meat fell off the bone, all Sitting on top of pomegranate onions. There are a sauces/dips as well as some gravy and Yorkshire pudding that you’ve never tasted before. This is a must try on a Sunday. The restaurant it’s self, is comfortable and welcoming, I great environment. Service is attentive and very helpful. There are some great cocktails too. We will be back as the chicken version looked fantastic too.

Delcious food - we got the small plates and it was amazing to taste a variety of foods they offer really a wide range of veggie dishes. And to top it off choclate hummus which was great! The staff were attentive, lovely and so friendly. Drinks were fab and it was a great atmosphere. Lovely decor! Just beautiful.

I’ve been to Roya a few times, and the food is always exceptional—a consistent 10/10 (I highly recommend the dipping platter). However, my experience during a recent visit for my birthday dinner was disappointing due to an unfortunate incident. As the waiter served our mixed grill, the juices and oils spilled all over me, ruining my new dress as well as getting onto my jacket. Thankfully, the liquid wasn’t too hot, or it could have burned my legs. While I understand that accidents happen, and we were compensated—around £12 off the bill— it felt inadequate, considering the damage to my dress. It’s a shame because Roya has always delivered on quality, but this experience left me feeling let down, especially on a special occasion.

Came for dinner and had a great experience. We got the dipping platter, grilled chicken, Turkish cigars and oyster mushrooms. Everything was delicious and the portion sizes were perfect. We had the watermelon spritz and anar anar cocktails which were both lovely. The staff were all super friendly and attentive and the interior is decorated really nicely and is very cosy. Pretty busy even on a Tuesday night so recommend booking!

I would have rated Roya higher had the food been better, I felt it was more show than substance. Maybe the price of the dishes put me off also but I wouldn’t let that put you off from trying as it has lovely decor with ambience and style. Maybe save it for a special occasion when you want to splash out a bit 😉

They didn’t allow my assistance dog in . I felt very discriminated against being disabled. The woman working there was asking too many questions and asked for training certificate. I just left, because I can’t stand this discrimination.

Had a reservation, we were Americans having our first Scottish dining experience and we felt very cared for, thank you. The food here is next level. The ingredients were incredibly fresh. Whoever cooked this meal masterfully seasoned every dish. You could tell care/time was taken when cooking so that the ingredients were bursting with flavor. Middle Eastern Tatties > Honey Carrots & Parsnips > Beetroot & Burrata > Iskander Steak > Oyster Mushroom Kebab I’d recommend all of these dishes. I think we were just in the mood for well-seasoned root vegetables today.

From the reception to the service to the Quality of the food an absolutely amazing dining experience. Highly recommended and will be back.

Food is so average to be honest Service was okay But the surprising that we ask to have our food for take away and they just throw a boxes and said they are not allowed to pack food but when i. Ask the manager he said we do take away but we are busy!! Why? I am paying for the food. So i share my experience for people to judge.

Used to work at Roya, loved every bit of it, the best place I ever worked by far. All my coworkers were lovely people, and I’m happy to suggest it to anyone and everyone. Food was great atmosphere was great and everything was just right. Hayley our boss was the greatest boss I ever had and I’m so glad I had the chance to work for her, she was always so supportive leading such a big team and always did what’s right, looked out for us and made sure all the customers were satisfied. That vegan mushroom kebab was one of the worst thing I have ever tried. And the fact I said to the waitress it's not edible and still been charged for it is crazy. Few other dishes were nice but would not go back there.

We had home delivery kobedeh and kebab toursh kobedeh was ok but kebab toursh was nothing like kebab toursh att all and also packaging is very bad they should have used different pack for salads thanks for efforts but not ordering again hope you make some changes

I went to this place for my birthday. The atmosphere is amazing and the food is very tasty. However, the portions are a bit small. I would still definitely visit again.

Wow! Possibly the best pre-theatre meal I've ever had. We went as a group of 4 and we all ordered something different. All of the breads and dips were gorgeous. I dont think I've ever had such a light and crispy naan bread. I especially enjoyed the king prawn and harissa starter but everything was really well cooked and very flavourful. Mains were generous and again super tasty. Hope to get back again soon.

They are highly expensive and serve cold food with no proper service.

The vegetarian roast can receive a bit more attention and less salt. Side dishes and desserts are sublime.

Really cozy athmosphere, down ot earth, yet professional waiters and brilliant food. Would recommend.

Unique Middle Eastern food in what feels like a luxury restaurant in the centre of Glasgow. Although some of the dishes are ‘small plates’ the portion sizes are actually great for the price compared to other restaurants. Rating 4/5 stars due to the length of time taken for the dishes to arrive. The starters were really quick but there was about half an hour of waiting for the main courses to arrive after we finished the starters. This meant that we had to rush to finish our meal quickly because the time we had booked our table for was running out.

It was a great night for us. Thank you guys. Perfect service. Super professional staff, Thank you Yusef for being so nice. I highly recommend Roya. Amazing food. My wife literally cried when she tasted Deconstructed Kashk as it reminded her of HOME (our lovely Iran).

Honestly can't fault this place. Amazing atmosphere, Amazing food , quality portion size, no complaints all round and to top it off the most amazing staff. Friendly , helpful and nothing was too much trouble .

The food here was delicious and the atmosphere was so nice, although the restaurant was full, it didn't feel chaotic or noisy inside. We were served by Alana and had really efficient and friendly service without feeling rushed. It's also in a great location if you're going to the King's theatre.

The place is elegant and beautiful and the service is excellent They provide it for free We were 3 people We ordered a large plate of grilled shrimp, which was delicious and clean We ordered a large mixed kebab. One time, I was shocked when they put it on the table. It comes with vegetables, pickles, and two rice dishes. The quantity is large. It tastes delicious, but there is too much salt. Delicious hummus that comes without bread, you must order Delicious naan bread, but its size is small and the price per piece is 3 The amount of food is large and the price is almost high

My favorite restaurant when I visited Glasgow in August. The food is excellent and the portions are huge! (As an American, I found the portions sizes overall in Scotland to be quite large.) Roya is beautifully decorated and quite serene. My friend and I went for a pre-theater dinner the first time, and I came back by myself the following week. Hilary was my server both times and she remembered my very obscure allergy the second time without my prompting. She was very attentive and incredibly nice.

Food cane our super quick. Starters were really nice, although the chicken tacos were cold (was expecting them to be warm?). Batata Harra and Balal were my fav starters. Main course was disappointing for me, may have been due to my choice (spicy chicken tawook, I thought it would have been chicken breast but was thigh which I’m not personally a fan of) Dessert was the most disappointing, we went for the pomegranate cheesecake. It was so tough to cut into I struggled even with a knife!

Our late lunch time meal was perfect. My friends took me there for my BIG BIRTHDAY. The food was excellent, fantastic flavours and textures, beautifully presented. Great Middle Eastern food. Damien was an attentive and knowledgeable waiter. Great interior, comfortable seating. We would definitely return.

Visited for the first time to try the Sunday roast menu - I can’t recommend it enough! Every dish on the table was done to perfection. We were a table of four and ordered both the chicken and lamb shank. The meat was very tender and seasoned well, living up to the true taste of the Middle East, whilst maintaining the traditional flavour of a Sunday roast. It certainly felt like the best of both worlds. For starters we selected the dipping platter, the barbari bread was definitely made fresh. I will be back for the main menu next time!😊

A gorgeous meal at Roya before the theatre. This is my second time eating here and it has become a favourite. The menu is excellent, they have extensive GF and vegan options as well as the main menu. Cocktails are excellent. Highly recommend the dip selection, the burrata and beetroot and the ox tongue. The potatoes are an absolute must. I had a Mr Baklava cocktail which is a twist on an Old Fashioned, and one of the best I've had. The atmosphere is lovely and the service is great. We were looked after by Declan and he was brilliant.

Was really excited to eat here, menu and images look delicious. Actual flavour and textures of the food were absolutely lacking. I got the pideh, which is supposed to be sourdough but I’m highly doubtful, was 70 percent undercooked crust. The salad was iceberg lettuce with tomatoes and cucumber you’d get in Tesco with an overly sweet dressing. The oyster mushroom kebab I was most excited for was really tough and stringy and too salty. Was disappointed as no care was put into making a tasty vegetarian option. The decor and price is way too fancy for the actual food experience so it just comes off as pretentious

Visited as a group of 11 for a 30th birthday celebration on Saturday. Enjoyed amazing food , atmosphere and amazing service from declan and all the team. Would definitely recommend and will be returning.

This place is absolutely stunning inside yet calming. Beautiful background music and vibe. We had a lovely seat by the window looking onto the Kings. Very seldom down this end of town and definitely worth it for this experience 🙌😍😍😋. The food was delicious so tasty and full of flavour. Lots of choices 👌 the food portion sizes where just enough for what we ordered. The waitress and waiter where very lovely, the waiter stood out for his knowledge of the food and attentiveness, and the waitress for her friendless and efficiency. She advised us that they would need our table back shortly (we where way over our 2 hours) that we could move to another table or into the bar. We opted for the bar as we had finnished our food. We had planned on going to other bars afterwards, the bar area was so nice as was the Lebanese red wine we decided to stay.😀 I love the idea of a bar inside a restaurant for either pre drink or after or both👌 the bar area was as stunning as the restaurant area. All the staff where lovely. No service charges! Definitely will be back

Food takes too long to cook. People working there do not know about the menu and seem distant. The decor is nice. But you will feel boxed in with late food. And employees almost ignoring you exist

Went here for the first time after being in Saffron branch in west end. The price are really high and the amount of food is at scam level, even the glass of water was like an espresso coffee as size. You might think that the quality must be great then, and you’d be wrong. Quality of food is average and doesn’t beat other Persian restaurants around. After spending £200 I went to Paesano to get my belly full. The design and staff were nice, but seriously, Saffron Paradise is on all other level about Middle East Persian cuisine and the price is lower too, fun fact they’ve got the same owner so I guess I’m not even doing bad publicity.

We dined in Roya for the first time and I can say it was one of the best Persian kebabs we have had in Glasgow. The Bastani ( saffron ice cream) was divine! And my husband enjoyed his Pomegranate cheese cake. The service was perfect and was so friendly. Highly recommend it and we definitely will go back.

The food was delicious and the place is wow it’s very classy and romantic. I went for my sister’s birthday. But unfortunately the service is did not like the waiter was not nice and not smiling and straight to the point not friendly, that’s what put me off from the place.

We came into the bar and were welcomed into a hip and comfy bar area. The mojito was exquisite, the perfect balance of sour from the lime and sweet from the mint and syrup. Our server was Murray who was friendly and helpful throughout our experience and could take me home after a couple mojitos if you know what I mean. Would recommend to anyone looking for a good time.
