The best restaurants in York Yorkshire and The Humber

Artisan bakery in Haxby, next to Costa Coffee but why would you go there!! We stopped for coffee and cake, the cakes were excellent, clearly bread us a speciality based on the number of customers picking up orders but, the coffee was average. Next time we visit we will try a sandwich/quiche/sausage roll. Not the cheapest but quality rarely is. Recommended.

We booked in advance for the 9 course tasting meal and it did not disappoint except perhaps for the asparagus! It was well balanced and can be held up high with many Michelin starred restaurants. The service was very good with each course well explained. We shared the wine paring as it would have been too much wine for us. The tables are well apart from each other. Enjoyed the amuse bouche too. Would recommend.

Lovely food and gf was no problem. Gluten free creamy mushrooms on toast with extra bacon. Good gf bread too! Very tasty. Husband had eggs benny which was very good too. Even the complementary chocolate brownie with the coffee was gf too!

The food from Sylhety Lounge is always amazing. Today was no different. Expensive, but delicious. We can't recommend Sylhety Lounge enough as the best takeaway in York! Thank you guys for all your hard work!

They are spot on here, food is really good and the staff are all lovely!

unassuming local pub with excellent food & very friendly people. Very reasonable prices & decent portions as well. We were in a caravan park a mile up the road & went midweek for dinner. No hesitation in recommending this one and we will be returning on our next trip.

The room was alright itself ! Could use a bit of TLC, maybe fix that shelf! The host, the bartender, the over all feeling Not sure it made the venue quite so appealing We had a funny time, maybe not for the right reasons Good luck with room for the rest of the seasons

Baby shower, with afternoon tea at The Old School Rooms in Wiggington. Fantastic food, catering for different food intolerances. Phoned me up before hand to check my gluten free options was OK for me. Couldn’t fault the service and friendliness, nothing was too much trouble. Can’t praise it enough. Shame I don’t live local, or would be using them a lot. Thank you for making it such a great event.

I can’t comment on the food but the lady at the desk was so rude to me and my husband, it put us off buying anything. Such a shame as it looked lovely.

Tuvimos un desayuno aquí con amigos a las 10 . 45 am La habitación de arriba estaba helada cuando me dieron una mesa pequeña calentadora que tardó una eternidad en calentar. El desayuno era más pequeño de lo normal menos contenido en la masa madre y no tenía guarnición de ensalada. Llevo mucho tiempo viniendo a desayunar. La encantadora pareja que lo dirigió durante años eran personajes reales y escuché que se han retirado o vendido / dejado el negocio. Parece ser dirigido por gente nueva.

Vino a almorzar un viernes muy ocupado durante la mitad del trimestre, pero nos sentamos inmediatamente - un ambiente muy agradable y frío en el interior (la música era genial también! ) Pedimos el inglés completo y huevos revueltos en tostadas que llegaron rápidamente; los huevos todavía estaban humeantes y cocinados maravillosamente 😋 Mi compañero pensó que el inglés completo era sabroso. Servicio amable y volvería a comer ya que todos los platos que salen de la cocina se veían encantadores.

El Chole Dosa era perfecto. La dosa se cocinó fresca mientras esperaba, y se sirvió con garbanzos especiados, así como salsas de sambar y coco. El precio era de £ 6, que era muy razonable. Sirve en envase biodegradable.

Not that much choice for food, and it's mostly cake. But cake was good and staff friendly.
