The best restaurants in York Yorkshire and The Humber

We called in on the day of the Yorkshire Marathon and although it was busy we got a seat and ordered. We got a coffee for my wife and a Victoria 99 cupcake for my 6 year old daughter. She really enjoyed it and my wife said the coffee was lovely too. The staff were very welcoming and polite but all in all really nice and we will definitely be back.

Visitamos este restaurante para el almuerzo y las bebidas y disfrutamos tanto que regresamos el último día de nuestra visita a York. Hermoso entorno junto al río y un servicio amable. La ensalada de mozarella con pesto fue un verdadero punto culminante.

Lovely, friendly pub with a great atmosphere. The landlady is great and really welcoming. We've been a few times when we visit York and will certainly be back.

It has been many years since I visited the railway museum so I decided to have a ride up there on the train whilst my wife was away for the week. The main hall has many excellent locos and carriages to view and some were on the East Coast main line when I was a young lad in the 50s. Perhaps they could put a " No standing in this area" sign up in front of the video screen on the bullet train. It is ridiculous that ignorant visitors just casually stroll right in front of it and stand there watching whilst the folk sitting in the seats trying to watch it cannot. As long as the handful of people can stand there and watch it, it obviously doesn't matter to them that 40 or 50 people sitting behind cannot see it. The other hall has many smaller exhibits but a lot of those in cases and shelves cannot be seen properly because some of the lights are not working. Must remember to take my head torch if I go again ! I did buy three fridge magnets in the shop but a lot of the stuff is over priced tat. Had something to eat in the city afterwards as there were no free tables in the museum.

Hotel is amazing! Wanted to also treat my parents to afternoon tea for her 85th birthday. It cost over £150 for 4 and it was ok. The staff seemed bothered and a bit snooty when you asked for anything. Also the savoury choice wasn’t great, scones tiny and cakes ok. We had a nice time but just not as good as I’d hoped. But if you are staying at the hotel that is lovely!

Worst place to eat,poor customer service staff is arrogant never coming back again ordered food came late and cold when asked for the hot

Unfortunately the Luxury Ice Cream Company online menu is wrong. I was there on Sunday afternoon intending to have a banana split and buy my grand-daughter a Biscoff sundae but neither of these was on offer. The LICC did not respond to my email the day before our visit and their telephone number was not recognised. Having said that, the ice cream we did have was delicious.

I would 100% recommend. I usually get the filled pitta which is a good place to start if you're not sure what to order. The staff are lovely, very energetic, and happy to accommodate to your preferences if you do not like specific items.

La esposa y yo nos topamos con este lugar mientras visitábamos York el fin de semana. Hay un menú fuera del cual para ser honesto, pensé que era caro al principio. Había 2 asientos agradables fuera para acomodarnos a nosotros y nuestros perros, así que decidimos quedarnos. Pedí Huevos benedictos con jamón, uno de los mejores, si no el mejor que he probado. La esposa quedó igualmente impresionada con su Pastrami y stilton Ciabatta, describiéndolo como delicioso, el pan era espeso pero suave y servido con una ensalada bien aderezada. Tomé un buen café, la esposa tomó agua del grifo. La cuenta era de £ 28 que teniendo en cuenta lo bien que la comida valía cada centavo. Yo diría que si usted está buscando comida barata entonces hay un Greggs a la vuelta de la esquina, si aprecia la comida de buena calidad y no le importa pagar por ella entonces este es el lugar para ir. Sin duda volveremos.

Prices have gone up massively this year and the quality of the food has gone down, too. They're fast, but their website is often broken or bugged, and it's just not worth the costs anymore. I felt sympathetic seeing the article about Domino's coming to Haxby and thought I would support local business instead - but honestly maybe it needs a little competition. It feels like the prices and the quality are only sustainable because it's never had to compete in the area, but it really isn't worth the price anymore.
