What a fantastic independent venue. The Reuben was good, the coffee great quality and the staff super friendly. Exactly what British business should be.

Great breakfast here. Friendly staff and quick service. Both had full English breakfast which was delicious. Served with 3 slices of crusty toast.

Cute little cafe. Knew it was going to be good as there were people queuing at 8.30am when it opened. Breakfast was absolutely delicious. Super fresh using good quality ingredients. Nicest eggs Benedict I have tasted. Great coffee too. Staff very friendly . Bought some Bakewell tarts to take out and they were absolutely scrumptious, nicest I’ve ever eaten. Keep doing what you’re doing ….. just fabulous.

We had a night at the caravan site just down the road and didn’t fancy cooking breakfast. Glad we didn’t we called in here and had a fantastic breakfast, my said it was the best vegetarian breakfast she had ever had. Thankyou

Wow. What a little gem this place is. It is situated in a quiet residential area in York, but queues out of the door at 8:30am on a Saturday tells you everything you need to know. The breakfasts were truly excellent. The ‘meaty fry-up’ was excellent and especially liked the herby mushrooms and black pudding. Our poached eggs were perfect and the ham melted in your mouth. All the produce is locally sourced, tasted fresh and was good value for money. Friendly staff. Will come again when in York.

Words cannot explain the flavours and care that go into their food. EVERYTHING is homemade. We come from Norfolk a few times a year on holiday and the food highlight seriously is this place. We ADORE it! Never change what you do. Absolutely perfect. LOVE LOVE LOVE this place. If you go to York you MUST go there.

We fell in love with this quirky little breakfast spot. Everything was great, eggs, porridge, pastries. We loved it so much, we went back the next day.

Haven't been here for a while but just as good as I remember. Got a seat with ease which was a surprise but it was a Thursday lunchtime. Had the Rueben sandwich was was superb. Quick service and friendly staff. I won't leave it as long to come back next time!

Good quality food, however, the service felt a little pushy as though we were being rushed through our food. This was the same when paying the bill. The staff hovered over us rather than giving us a minute. I understand there was a wait at the door to get a table but it would have been nice to have a little breathing room whilst we were dining.

Loved our visit to this cafe today. Great selection of food and good efficient service. We had eggs Benedict and the Reuben with long black and oat milk cappuccino coffees. Luckily we got there early but people were soon queuing to get in. Definitely would be a regular if lived in York.

We were recommended to try the Pig & Pastry for breakfast and it did not disappoint. The staff were very friendly and the service brilliant. Well worth a short walk out of town.

We visited this place on the last day of our holiday in York but wished we had gone sooner so we could go back. It’s on our list for a future return trip. There was plenty of room but it did soon fill up. The staff are very friendly and welcoming explaining the menu. We went for the meaty fry up and smoked salmon on toast. The food was delicious and very good value for money. All food cooked fresh and served well. Definitely worth a visit and would recommend

Delicious Shakshuka, lovely ice coffee. Children enjoyed their waffles and the Royale was well received. Disappointingly they do not make smoothies any more… one reviewer on the website mentioned they’d “take a bullet” for one of those previously, perhaps they’d consider bringing those back?! The orange juices were tiny, and not freshly squeezed on site, but the service was friendly. They did ask us to pay for our brunch twice, and this took some time to undo once 2 payments had been taken. Overall an enjoyable experience.

Friendly and helpful staff, fabulous menu and absolutely delicious breakfast. Great atmosphere and somewhere you should absolutely come when in York. So pleased to see somewhere like this is thriving.

We have visited twice whilst we have our caravan at Rowntree park. Our family and friends love coming and will be back .

Highly recommend this little place, went with OH and brown up son. Cosy, really efficient, helpful staff & owner. Eggs Benedict was cooked to perfection. Lovely.Only had a couple of minutes wait outside but under cover, blankets provided, made nice and cosy. We all enjoyed it, my son has been a few times. Would definitely go again.

Found this gem of a neighbourhood restaurant while heading to another that was closed. Was recommended by a local we met in the street. Warm, cosy and exceedingly friendly cafe. Fabulous breakfast, lots of fabulous baked goods. Will go again tomorrow before we leave York.

Brilliant breakfasts on the busy, vibrant Bishopthorpe Road and, whilst you’ve got ample choice along the road, this is the standout place. Fantastic choice of homemade food, to eat in or take out, supplemented by freshly made hot and cold drinks. We ate in and bought some tasty snacks, all reasonably priced, for later. Definitely a place to try.

This place is amazing. Not sure whether the breakfasts are the best, the staff, or the chocolate and orange babka. Their website was spot on that if there isn’t a table, have a chat, browse the amazing menu and place your order and one becomes available. Would have loved to have been staying in York longer to have tried more from the menu. Nothing like this where I come from which is a real shame. People of York, go here. Make it a massive success do they can spread across the country and come to my home town.

Despite the outside being full when we arrived, we were able to grab a seat at the bar indoors with no problem. From here we could see people leaving, and so managed to nab a table outside without any trouble. Staff were all really friendly and service was quick. The Benedict Cumberland (eggs benedict with cumberland sausage) were really good, and came with a third egg without asking as one of the two on the toast was hard yolked. My reuben sandwich was delicious though, and may be one of the best sandwiches I’ve had.
