The best restaurants in Wakefield Yorkshire and The Humber

We took our dad for his birthday today Dad loves a carvery and with have been in the past and the one in Wakefield too and the food has been lovely We had to wait for the chef for the meat we ended up asking if anyone was serving The roast potatoes was so hard they would of broken my teeth Mash potatoes was flat cold even dad commented Cauliflower cheese all dry Stuffing couldn’t get off the spoon Gravy Luke warm The staff on the bar was lovely very friendly A very disappointed dad what should of been a lovely birthday treat

Great place family friendly. Pool table, darts. Freya was very attentive and looked after the needs required with food etc. The bar staff were great too.

felt like staff accused us of trying to take food home as soon as we got there, we did not even have a bag with us so not sure where we were going to put it, ordered a gin and tonic at the bar and because they pored a pink gin automatically they tried to make us take that over the drink we ordered even though they knew this was not what we ordered

Another great experience. The lamb kofta was brilliant. The service was good and the quality of the food amazing. Would definitely recommend

Worst meal. Turned up, waited for a table for ages, no one interested in getting us seated. Asked for drink order before given chance to look at menu. Ordered coke and wasn't advised that there was a cheaper refill option. Ordered two burgers, both came without the burger sauce. Had to ask someone for sauces as they just walked off and then they didn't give us chance to ask for more than one thing. No one checked to see if everything was OK. Was charged someone else's bill. Poor service and overly priced food. Felt poorly afterwards.

Excellent spot for a casual evening meal. Megan H was our server, and she was fantastic - she made the experience amazing! She was very lovely and catered to all of our needs! 😊

Very poor quality food. Pasta well overdone and a soapy mess of a sauce. No time to say what was wrong as server brought food over then 10 seconds leather walked past asking if everything was alright. They then vanish for whole meal to turn up and take plates saying “please leave a good review it keeps my manager off my back”. Shame as not ally enjoy Bella but after this I won’t be returning. Freinds food was duck pasta with two bits of duck and mushy pasta.

Just came home from a very disappointing meal out for Sunday dinner celebrating my nephews birthday. There were 12 of us. We waited ages for food, food was cold when it arrived, items missing from certain meals, meat like rubber. This is supposed to be a ‘premium’ restaurant and we were all expecting so much more. They expected us to pay £35 for my dad’s meal - I wouldn’t have paid £5 for it! What a shame. Needless to say, we won’t be going back.

Friendly staff, ordered a few meals others were nice but ordered the 8oz fillet steak and a good decent chunk of it was inedible, steak knife wouldn't cut through it, asked for a sharper knife, they said was a steak knife amd didn't have any sharper, the chips had black chunks in them too, they did offer another but as we were the first to go in we did unfortunately recieve ours very last after everyone else onece the resturant was full. So as we waited a while we didn't want to wait anymore, didn't bother ordering deserts for any of us won't be returning I've had better green king rump steak. Unfortunately didnt take a picture of the steak before but for what was lost on the steak to what we recieved it was a fair size that was inedible 16/07/2024

Looks like an 1980s workman's club from the outside but very modern and clean throughout the inside, and I can't really fault the hotel. Food was decent (dinner and breakfast) and drinks were reasonably priced. We stayed here and popped to Wakefield for a night out so we were not in the hotel for long. I would definitely recommend staying here if you're planning a night out in Wakefield.

First visit here with a friend who had been before. We only had coffee & sat outside after a walk around Newmillerdam, outdoor seating is rustic & comfy, service was friendly & my caramel latte was one of the nicest I've ever had. Would definitely visit again for coffee & maybe try the cakes/food next time.
