Good quality fish and chips, freshly cooked

Only recently started using using this establishment as we don’t have local fish and chip shop in our village what can I say? They are absolutely delicious. The portions are baked and the quality of food is great.

I love, love, love fish and chips from here, I just have 1 complaint, last night I ordered fish, chips, mushy peas and a bottle of dandelion and burdock, the bottle wasn't in my order. This isn't the first time it has happened.

Fantastic to find fish and Chips that cater for gluten intolerant. We've ordered a few times now both gluten free and standard do not disappoint an the staff are always friendly.

Really enjoyed our food from here. All cooked fresh, and tasted fabulous. Will definitely be back.

Been going here for so many years now (well since it first opened to the public) and I cannot complain at all, not just the quality food they prepare but the exceptional service they provide, building a conversation such as ‘how you doing?’ Or ‘how has your day/week been?’. It’s traditional like the old times and you don’t get that nowadays in most fish and chip shops. Don’t go to fish and chip shops often, but I for sure will be back here next time and it’s local to me which is a bonus, to me the best fish and chips in Wakefield!

As a chippy this is normally a top place to go, what let's them down repeatedly is the delivery times. 90 minutes on a Monday night is far too long. My advice is to not bother with deliveries and go collect your orders in person.

It might help if you update prices on website menu - 25% more than expected price after reading on line - not impressed with quality either

Doing some work in the area and fancied a chippy lunch on payday so decided to come here to try it out. Couldn’t ask for a better service - was greeted by a friendly server on the way in and asked how my day was and if I had any plans for the weekend while they prepared my order. For some reason this is less common nowadays so it’s really nice to have this high quality service again. The food was really great too and the prices were reasonable considering everything was made fresh. 10/10 couldn’t be better.

Ordered fish and chips through just eat delivery driver didn’t turn up and blue marlin staff brought my food themselves. Chap was really apologetic and lovely couldn’t have done any more to help me. Blue Marlin really deserves your custom. Thank you.

Drive past this chippy but never gave it a second thought, after using other chippies in the area and falling out of favour with them i thought give the place a chance. glad i did had fish chips and bits and a large fish all very nice and well worth the money will deffo give it another go so should you.

Love this Chippy quality fish and chips & the curry sauce is definitely a great shout. Many chip shops these days serve you ‘half a fish’ per se. But here Blue Marlin you’re getting a great fresh tasting fish wrapped in tastes batter. Can not even think of a genuine negative to write about - 100% great fish and chips experience 100% give them a go!!

Just needed to say thanks to the team at the Blue Marlin for feeding a family of 5 last night....just on closing time! We all really enjoyed our meal and appreciated the staff being so kind... even though they must have wanted to go home after a busy shift!

We tried Blue Marlin tonight because we didn't fancy cooking. Delivery was quick, and the food was hot. The lady who delivered was very polite and cheerful, we really enjoyed the food, Tony had large fish chips and a scallop he was pleased. I had fish & chips, and I struggled to eat it all. We will definitely be ordering from here again. I highly recommend this fish & chip shop.

First time trying this place. Loved it! Everything really fresh and not greasy like so many other places. Scampi was gorgeous. Staff were very good. Portions aren’t massive but tbh that suits me fine. We will return for sure. Thank you see you again soon

Ordered fish chips and curry sauce for lunch. and 2 Yorkshire fishcakes ( for teatime) The delivery was quick, and the meal was delicious. The batter on the fish was light and crispy the fish was white and flaky. The chips were hot and just perfect. The curry sauce was nice and not too spicy . The whole meal I'd say was 10/10. I will definitely order in the future.

Food arrived 45 minutes late, freezing cold with half the food order missing spent £32 so rang to get the missing items re delivered and no answer from them! Don’t recommend

So after a long hard decision of what to have for my tea I decided blue marlin was the best for me, I obviously had to get the battered sausage and chips and wow! What an experience that was. So crispy and juicy and the chips were just right! Overall my experience at blue marlin was fan flipping tastic! The staff were so lovely especially the little blonde haired lady behind the counter! Would definitely recommend giving it a try.

Amazing fish shop! I’ve been in wakey about a year now and only just recently moved to alverthorpe and saw this place so tried it! I was not disappointed!! Fish and chips is one of my favourite meals and I’ve struggled to find a place in Wakefield that I like, I’ve now found it and I’ll be back! We ordered online tonight , recieved confirmation email at 17:10 , food after numerous phone calls to said shop , where seemed to be much confusion over our order ; how the food was ordered , the address etc finally arrived at 18:55 , just under 2 hours!! The drink that should have accompanied the children’s meal was absent from the order but I didn t have the inclination or time to chase that up I do not recommend the delivery service , very inconsistent and poor ..the shop staff don t seem to know what the delivery staff are doing and when the food eventually arrived , the driver was walking around our street looking for a house number ( it’s next to our front door!!!) I had to go out to him ! Poor service

Absolutely disgusting service!ordered through just eat at 6.30- delivery due 6.55-7.15.7.15 came and went called restaurant delivery was told it would be 20-25 minutes as they were busy.still no food at 7.40.All in all this restraunt took my money and did not deliver any food!was the first time using this place and will not use again! I have now taken this further with PayPal to get my money back!! Just eat completely useless as order was marked as delivered after estimate time! Beware ordering from here they will take your money and not bring your food!

Having used this shop for almost 5 years and being highly satisfied I am sorry to say I will not be using this shop in future. The past two weeks I have ordered fish and chips (a normal size) what has arrived is the smallest fish in the world, last weeks offering was so obviously a normal fillet cut in half yet the full price is charged. Such a shame, you need to look after your customers better and, to the fish fryer/owner please smile once in a while!!

The food is overcooked and the battered sausage doesn't have enough batter, overcooked and doesn't taste very nice, I've never had a good meal from them, I tried giving it to the dog, even he didn't want it. I would not recommend at all

We drove here on a good recommendation but were sadly disappointed. On arrival the staff were friendly and the fish and chips were freshly cooked. When we arrived home the food was still hot but half of my fish batter was welded to the paper and I ended up with a half battered fish. The fish and the chips were dry tasting, the batter soggy and the curry sauce thin and bland. I smothered mine with salt and vinegar something I don’t like to do but it made the food passable. We certainly wouldn’t return or recommend.

Number invalid so can't place an order unless you pay more through just eat, my partner has taken a half hour walk to be given the wrong order and now he's got to walk back to sort it out.. not missing out on much through mushy peas aren't mushy and far too salty, fish is non existent due to over cooked batter

Decent Fish & Chips. Sometimes really good, sometimes alright. Use regularly and only been disappointed a couple of times.

Been here several times now, and each time I am disapointed however I went back and have honestly no idea why. First few times just ordered fish and chips. Fish was ok, nothing special for the price. Chips looked paler than milk, not nice at all. Expensive for what you get and when there are 2 customers in they seem to take an age to serve. Luckily I've never been when it gets really busy and they have 4 customers in.
