Really cosy pub with great food, beer and service. Went for a mid week meal and enjoyed the roaring fires and great food, beer and service. Great to see a pub like this in Wakefield bringing a touch of class and quality, will definitely be back👍

Went for Sunday lunch. The food choice was good. Service exceptional, our server Alex was very friendly and efficient.

A lovely public house, log fire, great food, the size of them chips maaahhhooosive, lovely tasty steak pie it was delicious, all home cooked and prepared fresh, a very good reasonable price for food and drinks will definatley return, hosts pleasant and very welcoming, with good parking at the rear and front

Reopened under new management, and what a transformation! Really looking forward to trying the food and many cosy visits in front of the fire in the run up to Christmas. Update - tried the food and it was delicious!

I am really enjoying this pub at the moment, the food is good the staff are good and the ambience was good today.

Had Sunday lunch we all agreed it was very tasty, but seasonal veg consisted of peas and red cabbage, no there were no other veg on the plates.

Very poor quality of Roast dinner. Everything tasted like instant or ready meal especially the gravy. The only vegetable that came with roast dinner were frozen peas or we have to add as sides. Very disappointing meal….

We went Xmas eve The staff despite being very busy were very friendly and ready with a smile. Food was great. We have tried twice to go ba ck but unfortunately had to change our plans due to other commitments.

Beautiful cozy countryside pub vibes, log fire and comfortable seating. Delicious Sunday lunch, with the best cauliflower cheese! Reasonable prices and service with a smile!

We visited over Christmas for the second time since it had been taken over. Both visits were great, food delicious and attentive staff. Great atmosphere with a cosy fire, and super dog friendly! Lady was treated to a handful of treats and water on arrival. We can't fault either meal we have had. The first being Sunday lunch, and on our most recent visit I opted for steak and my partner had Scampi. Good portion sizes, well presented meals. Looking forward to returning and trying more meals.

Met my mum at The Three Houses as it's roughly half way for us both to travel to meet up. Food was delicious. We had the Sunday roast - 1 beef and 1 pork, followed by dessert of cheesecake and sticky toffee pudding. Very tasty. Staff were very friendly and accommodating. My baby was getting upset and I asked to move tables to a quieter area at the back. The staff moved all my items including my pushchair, which was really, really helpful! It didn't feel like I'd asked too much and they were super apologetic - They didn't need to be! We will be returning 😊 Thanks for being supportive and helping me in my early days of motherhood 😊

Was fantastic haven’t been for a while as was disappointed with recent take overs . This one was very impressive . I would go as far to say one of the best meals we have had !

Had Sunday lunch here today. Me and my partner both had the pie. Totally fabulous and really tasty. Took the dog and her food was amazing also. They really look after everyone. Asked us if we wanted drinks including if the dog wanted water. Lovely place, lovely staff, amazing food

We booked our Christmas works party at this fantastic venue. The atmosphere was very warm and christmassey with ample room to host our fun festivities. An excellent buffet was provided, everyone said how tasty the food was and so much of it! Nothing was too much trouble for the staff who assisted with requests. Can't recommend the place enough. Ideal for our event and very reasonably priced. We will be back next year!

Delicious steak pie and proper chips, eaten next to a roaring fire on a windy wet day! Lovely!

The weekly quiz on Wednesdays are really fun

Absolutely loved our meals at The Three Houses. I’m visiting from Scotland with my dog and we came here for a meal with my aunt and cousin. The food was absolutely delicious- one of the best steak pies I’ve ever eaten! I was so pleased to see that not only is the pub dog friendly, they even have a meal on the menu for dogs too! Flash loved his dinner too and was on his best behaviour eagerly waiting for his! I would absolutely come here again next time I’m back!

Beautiful pub and very nice food but my wife who has a gluten intolerance was very disappointed because the menu says there are a few gluten free options, on ordering they returned twice saying that the only option was Risotto. The food I and my friends had was lovely but they really need to sort the menu out.

Has a lovely lunch here today either my friend. It has new management and the whole ambience is lovely. Real fires, really friendly staff, good food. Nothing was too much trouble for them to make our visit pleasant. I think they are trying to make it a really good, old fashioned pub where company and chat is paramount. Menu was smallish but something on there for everyone. I enjoyed the Brie/cranbury toasted sandwich, beautifully presented. Can't recommend this highly enough. Please go and enjoy a lovely experience

Nicest Sunday lunch I have had for a long time! Good value and good portions. The team were very friendly and welcoming. My son gave the food 10/10. Dog friendly too!

New management and staff, massive difference, the food was gorgeous and the staff are brilliant especially Alex who couldn't do enough. We'll be coming a lot more often now 👍

I'm so pleased that this place is open and under new management! The food is superb, I had sausage and mash while my girlfriend had steak and ale pie. Both were piping hot and seriously tasty. Great local to have, good luck to the new team! 😃

Not sure how this place got a bad review on service. Alex the Portuguese Yorkshire man couldn’t have been more personable. The food was well cooked and the portions very generous. If you visit, you won’t be disappointed.

Awful food - dry salmon with overcooked veg and lumpy mash (says roast potatoes on the menu). No atmosphere. Looks and feels like a place for drinking rather than eating. Will never go back.

2nd meal in a week at the 3 Houses. Amazing, properly home cooked food and affordable too. The landlord couldn’t be friendlier, checking on our meals and chatting with us. The decor may be outdated, but it’s been like this for years and it didn’t stop people flooding in previously! The pub has probably got the best array of draft lagers we have seen and there’s plenty of other spirits and soft drinks for all. It would be a shame to see this place close because people are not giving it a real whirl and are not supporting a great local pub. You can’t get food and drinks like this anywhere else.

Visited with friends for drinks one evening. Pub was empty and a few people were sat in the beer garden. Beer garden had tatty furniture and weeds everywhere. Landlord was miserable and he closed the pub at 10.30pm before we’d even finished our drinks! Not very welcoming and ruined a lovely evening out. Won’t be visiting again- sorry!

Would not recommend the food. Order 2 roasts, which were lacking in quality. The Yorkshire puddings were clearly bought in, the mashed potato had a weird taste. We also order a turkey sandwich which came out on cheap shop bought sliced bread and the children's macaroni cheese was split. This place used to be well looked after but needs a lot of TLC, bathrooms are broken, cobwebs and dust, just need a thorough clean.

We haven’t been here in ages so decided to take our Grandfather. The decor was more tired than I remember and one room was completely out of bounds as it hadn’t been tidied up from a party the previous evening (we were there at 2pm on a Sunday and were the second table in the restaurant at the time). We visited today as a family and ordered 2 starters, 2 roast dinners, a child’s pasta portion and a turkey roast sandwich. We used to love it here but it is now under new ownership and the food quality has suffered as a result. The child’s food was poor - a split cheese sauce for Mac and cheese and peas sat in water in a ramekin for £8. The roasts were of very generous proportion but unfortunately the quality was again poor in terms of ingredients. The turkey sandwich was in thin white bread and soaked in gravy so fell apart completely. I would have expected a nice thick, bread for this sort of meal. It came out as a beef sandwich so I had to send it back and ask for turkey, eventually being able to eat 1 hour after arriving at the table. With 2 beers and a Diet Coke the bill was £71 - we won’t be returning unfortunately

Steaks very poorly cook, Quality of steaks very poor for what we paid for them. Very disappointed

Called into the 3 Houses for a late lunch. The food is home made, beautifully presented and garnished. My boyfriend had the pepper steak pie and really enjoyed it. I went for the lasagne with garlic bread and side of very nice triple cooked chips. The prices are very good. People need to come here so we don't lose this fab pub/restaurant venue. We will return.

My husband and I decided to try the recently re-opened restaurant and had a really good Sunday lunch, all fresh and home made. The beef was tender and delicious, the veg cooked to perfection. The service was excellent and the staff very friendly.

Lovely atmosphere after an extremely disappointing meal 300 metres up the road at the Castle, this local made up for the rest of the evening.

It was always a fabulous venue with great food and welcoming atmosphere. It will be sorely missed after becoming a recent victim of the cost of living crisis and frightening utility bills.

Been here twice and each time there’s no chef, 🤷🏻‍♀️ very hit and miss - don’t make a special trip.

We love it here. Everyone is so friendly, dogs are welcome, Drinks are always served 'properly'. Lynn is exceptional

We haven`t been to the Three Houses for ages but went there on Saturday for lunch and had a really good experience. The menu is varied and there were specials on offer too which all looked tempting. I had chicken, chorizo and new potato salad which was served hot and was very tasty and was a generous portion. My husband had smoked haddock fishcake which he really enjoyed. Everything was clean, the staff were welcoming and we shall certainly return.

The pub itself is really nice but the food wasn't as good as hoped. Mains were okay but the chicken starter was overdone and hard and the sticky toffee pudding desert was served fridge cold with tepid custard. Should have sent it back really.

Fantastic Sunday lunch - delicious and amazing value. Great choice, delicious and plenty of it. Good vegetarian option, excellent beef option, roast lamb great. Yorkshires tasty, vegetables fantastic. Easy to book, friendly service, highly recommended

I wasn’t told what wasn’t available on the menu so was disappointed that my choice wasn’t available. The food I was provided with was ok - not amazing. Soggy veg. But strangest of all, hence my 1 star for ‘Atmosphere’, the lights were going on and off literally every minute. Bit worrying if they were tripping the fuse switch. Health & Safety. Restaurant looked tired too.

The squid had a strong aftertaste, definitely off, no sorry at all, won't be going back, god knows if I get sick later.

First time for me. Met with a client local to him for some business and a catch up. He ordered and Tapas came . My excellent food full flavour nicely cooked great produce. And good portion size. Presented with great friendly staff, in comfortable furnishings absolutely spot on , the best tapas I have eaten. Thank you Three houses for a great afternoon. It’s got to be 5⭐️ rated.

Fabulous Sunday roast with melt in the mouth beef and pork plus 5 freshly cooked veg. Delicious!

Just had a drink this time. Good real ale & atmosphere.

The food and drink is very good here, but a few aspects of the pub let the place down. I had lasagne with garlic flatbread & side salad - all extremely tasty and well presented - and my other half had the pie and vegetables. He also had Bakewell Tart for dessert. The beer was great - I highly recommend it: Ossett Brewery's Yorkshire Blonde. Downsides: the ladies toilets had no toilet paper (sorry 2 sheets left, between 2 cubicles) and I thought the sink was going to fall off the wall. Also, when I was very clearly only about half way through my meal, the waitress came to me and said "Have you finished or are you still eating?" I assured her the latter was the case and then looked at my husband in astonishment - he was still eating too! We also felt the service was a bit slow, they needed more staff on.

Beef and lamb roast meats were very nicely cooked and the meal came fairly quickly. The meal was let down, however, by the roast potatoes, mash and vegetables. The roasties didn’t seem fresh (potentially frozen?) and the veg was slightly over cooked / soggy. Friendly and attentive staff - can’t criticise them at all!

Sadly this was hugely disappointing. We went here after being very excited about having booked because we’d wanted to come try it for ages but the service was the most disappointing and unexpectedly bad experience imaginable….

Celebrated my fathers 80th Birthday on a Sunday lunchtime at The Three Houses. Food was excellent and the staff could not do enough to make the meal and the occasssion a memorable one. They added their own special touches to the day. Would definitely recommend. Food was excellent especially the Sunday lunch.

Had Christmas lunch here today and it was the best I have had for a while. The food was lovely with all the usual trimmings. Prawn Cocktail great and Cheescake mouth wateringly good. Great service with friendly staff and lovely comfy lounge with an open fire. Had a lovely Christmas atmosphere. Went with three friends and we will definitely be calling here again.

Great inside, clean and comfortable. Visited with family and friends for my lovely daughters 40th party. We had not booked but staff were very friendly and accomodating, even brought out dishes of chips and nibbles which were devoured by both adults and children. Defo go back one saturday for eve dinner. 👍👍

Shocking service at the tiny bar serving regulars first, not serving people in order. Took my custom down the road to The Castle for a much nicer experience.

Absolutely beautiful place to eat and drink at. The parking space at the back is kind of a tight squeeze when coming in or out. Staff was very nice and polite and would highly recommend.

Its been a fair few years since I visited this pub but went for a couple of pints after being surprised by a friend who lives abroad. Beer was great and reasonably priced, staff were attentive and even made a bowl of chips when we found out that we were too late for food. Brilliant little local, will definitely be back again.

They have a great quiz night on Wednesdays, 20:00 start, good atmosphere, free food for participants and prizes to be won 👍

I was very disappointed with the meal served. It was lasagne but the sauce was like water and was running round the veg and pasta. I only ate a spoonful as it was inedible. The garlic bread it came with was under cooked. I think i was even more diasspointed as noone asked me why i hadnt eaten it? Or are the meals ok? We dont really go out very often and had paid for baby sitting, we ended up going home early.

We have visited through the week previously but visited on a Sunday and as usual we were not dissapointed. Hot, delicious, plenty of food and worth the money. Pork roast dinner was delicious. Atmosphere was relaxed, cosy as it was a cold day and staff were friendly and attentive.

My son and daughter in law had their wedding reception here, the food was very nice. X

Went with a group of friends on Saturday 2 April & were very well looked after . There were 14 of us & one needed a special dish but still we were served quickly . The chef even came to the table to discuss how the special meal needed to be cooked . Friendly & efficient service with good food too .

My wife and I booked a table here for 4pm.We arrived on time and was shown to our table.We ordered 2 Sunday lunches.When they arrived the mashed potato was covered by the meat,on inspection there was no more than a teaspoonful of mash.My wife asked for some more only to be told they had run out.Cauliflower cheese was missing only to be told they had run out.The whole meal was aired at best,the carrots were rock hard and the experience was garbage.The bill came and I went to the bar and told them of our experience to be told “I will tell him”whoever he may be.I paid the bill in full and yes I was expecting some allowance but the interest was zero.I told the manager that it was the worst Sunday lunch In 20 years but still no interest and by the way not cheap fourteen pounds each with no starters.STEER CLEAR.

It's a very nice pub, but it does not smell right... To many smellies, air fresheners, whatever in there...

We went to The Three Houses for our Christmas Party we chose the venue after visiting for an excellent Sunday lunch. We had 35 people at the party and were served a fantastic 3 course festive menu. The staff were excellent all night and the food came out quickly and was piping hot.

Had a private Christmas party in the restaurant, service, food and staff were amazing. Highly recommend if you are looking for a Christmas meal or a meal with friends. Thanks again.

Great local restaurant/pub. Very cosy with real fire. Typical pub menu but everything we had was their own recipe eg for garlic mushrooms, chicken leek and bacon pie. Despite being on a busy road you couldn't hear traffic at all. Very ample portions!
