Brewers Pride in Wakefield

They actually read my previous review about inappropriate and very loud music and did something about it. We have visited the pub several times since that review in January and every time it has been a pleasure. With the music volume now being set to a sensible background level and even genres which aren’t heavy metal, everyone can hear themselves talk and it is now a place to go to enjoy good beer, good ambience and good pizzas. 10/10

Went for a brew tour and a couple of "quality control" pints . Very good tour the guide was excellent and his knowledge was encyclopaedic. The beer as always was top notch Didn't have anything to eat but what I saw looked very nice

Good pub with a very good atmosphere

Wow what a great job they have done renovating this pub, a great choice of drinks and the food is spot on! A great pub we will become regulars for sure.

Charlie Chalk comes to Ossett. Combination of 50 kids running wild, a frightened pet leaving a trail of crap, a so called manager with a focus on loud heavy metal music rather than his patrons. All makes for a busy Friday night. What could possibly go wrong (or did). Dom (or dumb) our illustrious manager’s days are surely numbered.

This is our local, we visit occasionally and have always enjoyed it. We went last Sunday after the recent extensive refurbishment, we had a few beers and pizza. Wow, it's stunning. They have modernised it and retained a lot of its original features and charm. We will definitely be visiting more often. We had no idea what the Brewery would do but they got it bang on. Well done . Dog friendly too 🙂

The refurbishment in late 2024 is just fantastic. Ossett Brewery have retained the true character of this wonderful pub whilst updating it to an exceptionally high standards. The bare area is great as are the seating areas and the pizza and food menu is second to none. We’ve been there several times and love it. Many others do too as it is always really busy. Dominic and his team are extremely helpful and attentive. Well done to all and we will be back soon. Keep the open fires burning. PS the beer is beautiful. I suppose it should be being a spit away from the brewery but having that many beers on at once takes some up keep. Credit Dominic and team. Good value too. Credit Ossett Brewery for not being greedy.

Nice place when it's not too busy can be too hot In there at times. Pizza's smell great. Different types of drinks to suit every taste.

This is our local and my we bloody missed the place when it was closed 🤣 Lovely place and been done out amazing more space, great atmosphere great food and excellent service from all the staff as always. Thought I would pop the menu up for anyone interested in visiting

Didn't eat, went for drinks. Pub has been refurbished to a very high standard, much more space, excellent selection of drinks, now including hot drinks. Also, now offer food and a dining area. However, the pub has kept it's traditional feel, look and atmosphere. Staff freindly and helpful as ever.

Great music and range of drinks at a good price. Although, could do with some more seating and the brisket was a bit tough. Otherwise, sound little pub.

Great lineup of beers and the pizzas are exceptional.

After a major refurbishment, I think the Brewer's looks better than ever. The bar has moved to the left hand side opening up both front rooms, the back room is now more integrated and the outdoor space enlarged. There is a pizza place at the back which I've yet to try but the place feels like it always has and the refurb hasn't diminished its local pub feel. Excellent job.

They've spent a lot of money and absolutely ruined a beautiful pub with plenty of character turning it into an identik Wayfare furniture place that are ten a penny everywhere. Great job. What next, are they going to ruin Three Pigeons Ale House in Halifax, surely they'll give that a go

Nice place, decent beer, dog friendly

Took the whole family for Tuesday pie night. Great selection of pies, all home made, great portion and always a friendly service. If you want comfort food in a relaxed atmosphere and good warmly service then this is perfect.

Lovely pub, lots of character. The BEST homemade pie and peas you could possibly imagine.

Just our type of pub. Fabulous place tucked away. Comfortable, great staff very friendly, really welcoming with a tremendous selection of drinks and the food is great.

Make sure you go to Pie Night on a Tuesday. You will not be disappointed. Amazing food, amazing service and excellent ales!!

Very friendly pub with real log fires

Fantastic pub, one of the best in ossett/horbury and great selection of real ales.

Great pub. A bit spit and sawdust but still a grand boozer. The Ossett brewery beers are very well kept. I suppose they should be given they are brewed next door. Dominic is a great host and his staff are too. There are many regulars that keep the pub busy all week long. There is an old boy (Malcolm) who goes in every day. He sits in the now named Malcolm’s corner pronouncing his wisdom to anyone that will listen. Dogs welcome. Great when owners keep them under control. The real fires in winter create a fantastic atmosphere. All in all a wonderful pub enjoyed by so many folks. Keep up the great work Dominic and team.

This is a good little, with a good selection of drinks on the bar A little out the way but has real open fire to warm you up on these cold day with a refreshing pint of Coors

Visited today whilst walking Osset Greenway . Great pub , nice atmosphere and good staff . Had a hot beef sandwich which was also good . Would definitely recommend

Great pub full of character and with excellent beer that is well kept. The staff were friendly, the pork pies surprisingly well priced and they were dog friendly, with water bowls dotted around and dog treats at the bar. I recommend

A traditional, warm, and welcoming pub. Dog friendly and a good selection of locally brewed ales.

Great staff, great food, great beer, great pub. The only problem is location but its still worth visiting. The walk up Healey Road can be tough after food and drinks, so if you visit in winter or have a more than a few of the delicious ales, plan a taxi ride home

Visited yesterday for a beer and to our surprise realised it was pie night! Absolutely delicious pies, great service!! Thanks to Nichola and her team and the lovely pub landlord!

Great pub, good music. Nice staff. Dog friendly but don’t expect dogs to be on a lead. It seems I’m in the wrong for expecting dogs to be kept on a lead. Just because you think your dog is friendly you don’t know how they will behave with every other dog. Regulars don’t seem to think they need to keep control of their dog.

Thi is an absolute gem of a pub. How pubs should be, not commercialised. Dom is a fantastic host with some great ideas. Loved the play your own vinyl session last Sunday 👌

Visited today after doing some drone footage of Healey Dam.Fantastic beer and lovely friendly staff. A great shame that they do not serve food anymore. I was told by the staff that this is due to not being able to get a chef. A shame as I had a walk scheduled next week followed by a beer and meal. Looks like beer only then after the walk.

Brilliant place. Beer excellent. Staff brilliant! End of a barrel, so changed barrel. Insisted I had another pint as it might not be as good - superb customer care. Bit out of the way (although brewery 3 minutes walk away), but well worth seeking it out. Very highly commended. Give it a try!

First pint back in Ossett after being out of the country for 21+ years and it was glorious!

Only go occasionally but for a dog friendly pub and walk friendly people whether you are or aren't one you will find the most friendly staff, people and dogs in Yorkshire.

Been working locally to this boozer, for the last few days.. Called in to sample some real ale. Proper awesome selection. The locals are very hospitable and will talk for hours. Landlord and landlady, proper genuine, I love this place already. 5*****.

Good dog friendly pub, called in New year's eve for one or two. Julie, Neil and staff always make everyone welcome. Couldn't stay to welcome in the new year due to my work commitments new year's day but saw the spread Julie had put on for customers, it looked good. Neil doing a little food but is hoping to expand menu in near future. Would recommend a visit to see Julie and Neil. Always have good choice of real ales.

Nice friendly pub, landlord and landlady very nice, starting to do food, will be popular. Look forward to frequenting it when the weather improves.

Very traditional pub steeped in history. Great bar meals and a more refined restaurant upstairs. Excellent food and well kept hand pulled Ale. All very reasonably priced.

Had such a lovely Sunday lunch here the other week. I had never been but my Mum took great pleasure in telling me it’s where her and my Dad used to go drinking when they first met back when it was the Millers. We’d heard a lot of good reviews regarding food so decided to give it a go and we weren’t disappointed. Will definitely be returning soon!

Attentive staff, beef steak and Stilton pie really nice, also the fish n chips looked yummy as well. Went to say a farewell to our brother Chris, who frequented this pub a few years ago. Good real ales etc etc

Excellent. Best Sunday lunch I've had in a long time. None of us ever have pudding but the meal was so good we had to have a pudding. All 4 of us will be back.

Wonderful pub right next to Osset brewery. Best beer in Yorkshire. We arrived just after food stopped but they put an order in anyway. Very kind staff. Food good and cheap too. Combine with a brewery trip or river and canal walk. Ask directions to the brewery.

Terrible service and SOME staff simply do not care, I was waiting 30mins between drinks. Customers were getting up and walking off. Apparently the Kings had been hit with covid and had a function on so staff were sent there. Great so the pub that has got quieter due to people not returning it is getting even worse. At one point a girl came out with drinks then went back inside for the card machine and then we tried to order and she said oh I will go get my pen and pad. That's 3 trips when 1 was needed, she never returned! Another person said its not my fault I am just filling in form Fernandes, she got the order wrong 3 times and it was only 2 drinks. One of the party ordered on the app and had to go inside to see why a 25min delay, the ticket was there on the bar in full view but no drinks ready. There was no management that we saw and there was only 7 tables outside occupied with 4 staff looking after them. If I make the effort to return after several bad experiences then I think they should make the effort and serve me. The Tap and 42 do a cracking job on less staff but there is built in apathy at the Brewers. They did nothing to clean the place and brighten it up during lockdown that coupled with constant poor service means people who have been regulars 3 to 4 times a week for 15 + years are not going there anymore. Its nickname amongst these people is the Sh1t H5le for obvious reasons. Ossett brewery get a grip pls. On a foot note about 8pm a guy with long hair and boots came out and did his very best to put things right, he had some omph about him and went around every table, well done that man, thank you very much. If one can do it why cant the others?

Sunday dinner here used to be amazing. Now it's boil in a bag beef and little of it. Good staff and quick service.lumpy granular Hot water gravy.e.c.t. e.ct.

Pleasant Staff, Nice Friendly Welcome, decent Guest Beers, and from the look of the Food which were brought out to Customers, Good Nosh too, albeit I didn't try it myself. Sentimental reasons for a Visit from me, as I recall one of my earlier memories of a Pint in there 45 years ago, when I was just a Lad. Worth a Visit.. 👍

Had a burger with extra salad instead of chips .. was quick and tasty. Would recommend. Service friendly too

Ordered a takeaway Sunday lunch for the first time. So much food, totally delicious, and amazing value at £8. I had the roast turkey and my wife had the mushroom wellington. I would highly recommend and will definitely be ordering again.

Staff are always welcoming and especially now during these difficult times. Good atmosphere and everyone helpful. Fortunately pub also has a good outside space.
