The best restaurants in Filey Scarborough Yorkshire and The Humber

This is pub not restaurant standards. They need to be much better organised and more professional with customers as the food is not cheap. We ate here twice throughout our stay mainly due to them accepting dogs. My chicken on first visit was very dry and lasagne on second visit was too. They need to have someone manning the bar who can be efficient and only do that as their job, we got our drinks served half way through our meal. They are running around with no professional standards maybe need to have another member of staff and have some hospitality training. It’s a case of come in sit over there and you will be served at sometime.

Went here for a meal with my partner. Was seated on an awkward table so requested that we could move to an empty table. The waitress with long red hair rolled her eyes and said “no I will have to clean your table”. We then requested the bill for the 2 drinks we had ordered (not even touched yet) and was asked why we’re leaving. Was in this restaurant no more than 5 minutes but will never return due to this extremely rude member of staff. Also will be advising our family who frequent here not to visit due to the lack of professionalism and to find somewhere that a customer is welcomed.

Lovely fish and chips!! We ordered the small portion, which was fine for us. The regular fish looked large. Nice surroundings and really pleasant service!!

Made to feel welcome after a cold walk on the beach. Good pints and real coke. Spot on 👍🏼

Good coffee and a really good bacon butty. The staff were cheerful and helpful. Well priced too.

The most disgusting meal I've had in a long time. Chips were brown and soggy. Grease everywhere. Maybe it's about time you gave a damn about your customers and you might think about changing the oil. Probably hasn't been changed for years. So many staff on here, with half of them outside smoking or on the phone. Absolute kip of a place. Avoid avoid avoid!

What was Cobble Bar and Bistro is now called the Bay View Restaurant, which is why it is reported as being permanently closed. This has been our choice of eating places in Filey for a number of years, and we were happy to find the name is the only thing that has changed. It was a bit breezy to sit on the terrace, but it is bright and light inside, and you can still enjoy the view. There is a wide choice of food, with substantial portions, with efficient and friendly service, at sensible prices.

Had a fantastic night on Saturday, Ric Owen was absolutely brilliant, such a lovely pub,proprietors so friendly and welcoming,great atmosphere.

Their website suggested we booked. We tried to call the restaurant from 3pm (as suggested). Got engaged tone each time we called. When the phone finally rang we got the answer machine. Decided to try our luck, turned up at 5.15 to be turned away. Pretty disappointed. Gave 2 stars because the menu looked nice.

We have been coming here for years. Usually very impressed but bread was not fresh today and it spoilt it. What a shame because it was otherwise very nice.

Always in the diary every time we come out to the coast. Food is always bang on, they look after you properly, rapid and priced pretty well. A hit with locals and tourists and we certainly recommend to all friends and family coming out this way.

It was our first visit here but had heard good things about the food, so decided to give it a go. When we arrived, we were the only guests in there other than someone who was waiting for a take away. There was no music so the atmosphere felt dead. We nearly walked out but decided to take a seat. The waiter asked for drinks and we asked if he could put some music on, which he did. Drinks arrived and the menus came. Have to say that there was a great selection of food. The Mrs ordered Onion Bhaji and Chicken Tikka Masala, I tasted both which were excellent, the chicken was succulent and packed with flavour. I had Sheek Kebab and Keema Bhuna. The Bhuna was one of the best I’d tasted. The Naan Breads were very light and fluffy and made to perfection. Overall our experience was not to be put off the atmosphere which was lacking. But the flavour of the food was exceptional. We will be back and recommend this to anyone reading this.

Nostalgia ain't what it used to be. Perhaps the staff had had a bad day, but a smile or two wouldn't go amiss. Cheer up, it's Filey! There was a monstrous queue for ice cream outside but only 3 staff in the kiosk. No queue inside, lots of staff but "you have to queue outside for ice cream." Why? It's a mystery. The cafe was recently redecorated. Not that you'd know! 😉 The toilets are grim. There's a ramp for disabled access. And, one more thing... The door was closed and locked at 16.05 precisely! UPDATE May 2025 It took well over 30 minutes for second rate food. No explanation as why it took so long. No apology. No complimentary smile. Terrible service, poor food.
