Cobble Bar & Bistro in Scarborough

My wife, our son, his girlfriend and our dog were visiting Filey on a day trip whilst staying in Whitby and hunted high and low for somewhere dog friendly and found The Cobble. Upon entering we were greeted by very friendly staff, who set the tone for our visit. The service remained friendly and very prompt too and the food was excellent and of decent size. My scampi was very tasty and of decent portion size with a nice helping of chips, mushy peas and tartare sauce. My wife had the chicken burger and my son and his girlfriend the burgers, of which they all commented were delicious. All were well presented too. Next time we are in Filey I will have no hesitation in returning and I cannot recommend The Cobble highly enough.

Well we came here a few years ago it was great. Then looked at reviews & gave it a miss for a couple of years. Recent reviews looked promising so we took the plunge. Absolutely delighted that we did. On our first visit the guy running service was unbelievable nothing a trouble to him. I hope you get the credit you deserve because if I was going into this business I would headhunt you in an heartbeat (I’m not unfortunately Because we enjoyed our first trip back we returned on an early Saturday evening. Again spot on would absolutely recommend

I spent a long time trying to find somewhere for an evening meal for 8 people and 4 dogs. So many places in Filey either don't allow dogs inside or don't allow booking! I found this place and Google says they close at half 5 every day, but I noticed a few reviews that mentioned 'evening meal' so I called them and they said they were open until half 7, and took dogs and I was able to book. The 2nd floor restaurant is really nice. Amazing views through the window (and some outside tables as well) I had the beef burger which was nice. Big size and juicy in a really nice bun. Loads of thick fluffy well cooked chips. My wife had the fish and chips which was ok but nothing special. Others had lasagne (very good), spaghetti Bolognese (very good and a giant portion), pizza (very good) The service was very nice. Overall everyone enjoyed their food and I would recommend this place.

Great pizza and fish and chips on the 2nd floor restaurant. The location is amazing with views across the bay into the distance. The staff are really pleasant.

We visited this bar several times during our weeks stay in Filey as we absolutely loved it. The view from the second floor balcony was stunning, the service was friendly and there was a good choice of beers. The lasagna we had was definitely homemade and absolutely delicious and the cheesy chips were also very good. I would highly recommend a visit to this lovely bar.

We’ve visited Cobble for several years on our annual visit to Filey. It’s a lovely, airy room, with a terrace if you want to sit outside. We’re always happy with the food, and the pleasant staff. It’s great value for money, and the views is second to none.

Tried to boom a table of 5. The waitress I asked for a menu checked her watch before giving it to me. When I asi ked if I could book a table of 5 for the following night the waitress shouted to someone who I assumed was in charge but she might just have been the one who is happy to put customers who think they can just turn up and book a table straight. No. She said, 7.30 is too late. Then she turned her back to get on with much more important conversations than having one with a ' customer'. So we left to everyone's relief.

With almost certainly one of the best views from any restaurant for miles and miles, this place has the staff, food quality and reasonable pricing to match. I’ve been coming here for ages (as a local) and have seen it change over the years but the current team really are awesome. Whether it’s a morning brew, a family meal or sundown beers with friends, this place caters for it all and does it well. It has a lovely inclusive family atmosphere and the staff really are the friendliest around. The pizzas are restaurant quality for takeaway prices and the selection is really good. The starters are lovely too (though I must admit I’ve only ever ordered them once because the pizzas are so filling). All-in-all this is a no brained for a really good pizza in an outstanding location. I’d 100% recommend this place to absolutely anyone. One of the best filey has to offer. Love it.

Our very first visit, Sister booked a table for us both, we had a lovely view of the sea. We where seated and we looked at the menu, we ordered garlic bread with tomatoes, to share for the starter. I had j20 and she had beer. For our mains she had lasagna, I had bologna. The portion of bolognase was quite big, and lasagna was also a good size. The staff was very polite, while we was eating, a lady came over to ask if we needed anything, so I ordered another j20 . Food was nice atmosphere was good, would visit again.

Very welcoming gentleman at the bar allowed us to chose our own table. We wanted to be near the windows as you are 3 flights up so great panoramic views. Food arrived promptly and was delicious. Fish dishes all round. Very generous portions nicely presented. No room for puds! There is a small balcony but as it was a soggy evening we didn’t venture out onto as looked slippery. The waiter opened up the bi-folding window as all diners were amazed by a double rainbow 🌈 Great atmosphere reasonably priced. Recommend. Would return again.

Food average. You pay up front and there is a reason why. Service poor. Food and starters arrived at once. When challenged responses were - ‘it’s how it done here’, then, ‘I didn’t have time to tell the chef they should be served separately. In what world do you have to tell a chef starters and mains are served separately. Piss poor experience.

Lovely welcoming staff offered a bowl of water for my dog. Only young girls serving but really friendly and helpful. Quick service, Lovely fresh pizzas and fish and chips. Just a little niggle children’s meals are expensive £7.95 for spaghetti bolognaise and you do not get a piece of garlic bread with it. However was a big portion of bolognaise good for older kids 😀

Our first time in Filey we wanted to book a restaurant. We chose the cobbles. We arrived and waited to be seated the waitresses and staff were very attentive even made a fuss of our little dog. We called in on the off chance on Friday 23rd August, it was 8pm and the three of us plus dog so needed some good food before we set off back home. We ordered Scampi and Haddock goujons and drinks. The staff couldn't have been nicer or more efficient,(brought a water bowl for the dog and a sausage) well the food was really lovely, decent portions, hot and well presented. and at reasonable prices.. We had not booked , but decided to see if we could squeeze in on a Saturday evening. No problem at all they squeezed me and partner and our 2 sausage dogs in. Lovely service from the owners they could not be more attentive checking your are happy or need drinks etc. Lovely food and quick service. Owner came with some sausage freshly cooked for our 2 dogs which was a lovely gesture and made us very happy that they also cared about the animals! Would recommend to visit with or without dogs! ☺️

Just come back from a meal at Cobble. We visit the coast regularly and have been to Cobble Bar & Bistro many times. We went just after the first lockdown and it was chaotic due to no personal distancing etc. We have waited a year to go back. Prices are up, food was okay and when we asked for a house wine we were told about a Rose they had. When the bill came we were charged £18 per bottle. When we questioned the price the aggressive manager asked if my husband was drunk. This is the same guy who was all over some guests and ignored others. We have to highly commend our waiter who we were told was the owners son. He was OUTSTANDING. Note to owner, get rid of your aggressive manager and promote your son, he has the right attitude. Unfortunately we will NEVER go back or recommend and will instead visit places who appreciate our custom. VERY DISAPPOINTED but you live and learn.

Asked for house wine but was not given a wine list and was charged over £18.Questioned the price and the Manager got very aggressive and said I was drunk (which I wasn’t) will never go back. After a long walk from Scarborough last week, we arrived in Filey about 5.30pm and came across Cobble Bar and Bistro. Its is in a great location overlooking the seafront. I think this is one of only 2 pubs / bars on the prom at Filey.As it had an upstairs terrace. we decided to have a pint overlooking the sea. The view was great, however the choice of beers was disappointing - all electric with no hand pumps / real ale. Still we ordered..a pint of Caffreys and a pint of Belgian Blonde Beer.. The beer came in plastic glasses ( presumably because we were sat outside ? ). The real surprise came when I paid..£9.80 for a pint of Caffreys and a pint of Belgian Blonde Beer. London prices arrive in Filey !To summarise - views great , beer poor, prices outrageous !

We had a lovely evening tonight. We were meeting our family for the first time in a year and it was a brilliant backdrop. Delicious pizzas, excellent kids meals and fantastic view. All of the staff were really friendly and we had a fab evening. Will definitely visit again. Thank you.

Due to my dietary restrictions the manager (a super chef) organised a special pasta dish not on the menu which he prepared and cooked himself. Absolutely delicious and filling portion. Service excellent. Very friendly staff who help to make the experience of eating there even better. Good food enjoyed by everyone. I couldn’t have asked for a better meal or a better chef. Will definitely go back before we finish the holiday.

Excellent service and food. Friendly, efficient staff who were attentive to just the right level. Food came out piping hot and the gaps between arrival, ordering, starters and main were perfect (didn't have dessert). The steak was done to perfection (rare) and the pizzas were gorgeous. The portions were excellent. The view from our window table would be hard to beat!! To think we almost didn't go due to some of the reviews. We'd have really missed out. The selection and quality of wine was the only thing that was a little disappointing but it was as good as in any pub and there were plenty of other options at the bar.

Warm welcome, lovely food and good service! Don’t be put off by the exterior of the building or entrance as the food and service is very good.

Set over three floors there are plenty of tables to sit and the staff service was efficient and friendly.We visited for drinks on this glorious sunny day and accompanied them with a couple of baskets of chips.A great place to sit and people watch with good value for money and superb views of Filey beach.

Really enjoyed our visit here. Food was really great and to a really high standard. Staff were extremely friendly and efficient. First time visiting in a while and the place has improved over the years in terms of hygiene and decor. Would definitely recommend if you don’t fancy fish and chips blowing about outside.

This is one of those places what has the location and the food, the menu is not large but what's on it is very good value for money, and more importantly very tasty. We live locally in Scarborough so its a short trip but well worth it. Everytime we go the food is excellent, the staff are brilliant and that view is superb.

This must be the worst meal we have ever had . Tinny tables , very worn and shabby chairs . Two drinks , 1 large wine , served in a plastic half pint ' glass ' 1 pint bitter also served in plastic came to over £9.00 . Cheap cutlery, nothing matched . I ordered the wok prawns at almost £16.00 Cheap tasteless prawns and watery white rice . I ate a couple of prawns and brought the rest home for my cats . My son ordered the chicken burger which was a grilled chicken breast in a bun with chips and a little bit of salad . His meal was passable but not at £12.00 . The total bill was £37.70 a total waste . On the up side the staff particularly the waitress were very pleasant, I felt so sorry for them , they shouldn't have to work in such a place .

Horrific is the only thing I can describe which is such a shame as the food use to always be good here. Waiting over 1.5 hours for food for it to come and be swimming in grease. Frozen fish and chips by the sea!!! Come on that’s just a joke. Amazing very young waitress very apologetic. Management however couldn’t care less. Really felt for her. Won’t be returning

Food was nice. After we waited over an hour and a half for it. Manager was a cowardly custard who hid behind his staff at every available opportunity. The waitress who dealt with us was amazing, sorted our bill out and apologised profusely. The one star is for the food and the waitress. Other than that, the service was diabolical. Will never go back.

This is the third time we have come to Filey on our hols. We always recommend this place to others and were really excited about coming for our annual visit.The staff were really friendly and this review is not to deter others from eating here, rather for the place to revert back to their previous standard...I had the blue cheese sauce chicken which was OK. The chips are usually incredible but they were basically fried frozen rubbish.. My partner got the wok fried prawns with rice which was £16 and was just shocking. Basically prawns, basmati rice, and a side salad. My daughter had fish and chips kids meal which was, again, over priced for a children's meal but a very good size portion for an adult with a smaller appetite.I had a glass of pinot (house, but still.. Over priced) which tasted so horrible that I had to order a glass of lemonade in order to change the taste so it was drinkable.Unfortunately I don't think we would go again which is a shame as we have always really liked it and think it was worth the money on previous visits.

Third time visiting Filey and have been to this place each time so we were looking forward to coming again. The food was very average this time however and ridiculously overpriced. I personally paid £15.99 for garlic butter king prawns but when they came I was beyond shocked. There was not a vegetable in site which was what I thought I would get with a “wok fried” dish. Instead I was served prawns which looked like they came out of a pack in a super market, bland white rice, and a basic side salad. This would of cost around 2 pound to make at home. Shockingly overpriced

Wouldn’t recommend that you enter this bar , unless you have saved up for the occasion. Shockingly over priced drinks and bland expensive food . To sum up , move on to another bar .

We visited this place on a recommendation. The restaurant has a fantastic spot right by the beach where the fishing fleet lands but is on its own out of the town centre at night. I guess they have must have more daytime traffic from the beach as it closes quite early on an evening. Parking is limited, on street and a short walk if you can find a spot. The venue is rustic but obviously they have a talent in the kitchen as the food was top notch. The service was friendly and attentive and dogs are welcome too. Very highly recommended.

Don't judge a book by its cover. We were sceptical upon arrival, we had nothing to worry about. The steak was beautiful and cooked to perfection with a generous portion of peppercorn sauce. The salt and pepper items on the menu were delicious! And my son had a huge pizza all to himself, he was very impressed. All of that with a gorgeous sea view! Worth a visit, one of the highlight meals from our holiday. Would love to visit again.

We have been to this bistro a few times now but last night we were really disappointed the menus said home made chips and onion rings with your meal, the chips are frozen chips and no onion rings on the meal, when the food was brought out it was only warm it really put off so we wont be going there again

Visited this place today. The food was distinctly average, which was okay for the price. Pizza bases were good but the ham was below par packet ham stuck together in slices. Other than the staff wearing masks there was absolutely no covid protections put in place. No screens between tables, no sanitiser available on entry/exit, no signs advising customers to wear masks until seated, and absolutely no track and trace - no register taken nor a QR code to scan. There was only us and one other table in for the whole restaurant which is why we decided to stay as it wasn't cramped, but we wouldn't go again.

We have been to this restaurant for the last 2-3 years each time we’re along that coastline. They allow dogs and so we love to sit on the balcony or by the large windows and enjoy our meal while watching the sea-absolutely fab! Food is reasonably priced (kids meals are £6-7 including drink or ice-cream, and pizzas are about £8) and we’ve never had a bad meal. Staff are always friendly and are happy to box-up leftover pizza (the kids almost always leave some!)BUT, in terms of the current government Covid guidelines:-we visited twice in the month of August and we were not asked for contact details either time-Tables are cleaned in between use, but cutlery is laid immediately, including reusing the previous customers unused cutlery. Menus are not wiped, nor are salt/vinegar bottles which are kept on the table-staff are not visibly washing/sanitising hands and are often going from table to table collecting/dropping off meals-female toilets are grim! No soap when I went, one toilet has a light missing, the other was just a bit grim-back wall of the toilets are stained blue/green. I can’t speak for the men’s toilets, hopefully they are better.It’s such a shame, as it’s a fab place but I honestly think it will start to lose customers if they are linked to a case of Covid! Would be a shame to lose such a lovely place in such a great location all through lack of hygiene and staff training.

When a table became available outside, we were immediate offered to swap which we did.The pizzas were incredible, I’d say one of the best I’ve had, and the spag Bol beautiful.The staff were very friendly and when they realised we were nurses they gave us 10% discount, they realised that just my being friendly and asking about us and our weekend.My friend spilt her drink and they immediately came and helped us tidy up.Highly recommend xxPicture is the lovely man who served us xx

I was welcomed by the manager during a fierce storm (25/8), even before they were officially open, & offered a hot drink. I enjoyed a beautiful pizza for lunch, & lashings of coffee. I found the staff very friendly, & extremely helpful. Whatever reviews have been left previously about a lack of social distancing, or poor hygiene, I simply cannot agree with in any way. I can definitely recommend this bistro to anyone for good food & hospitality. By the time I had dried off & finished my meal, the restaurant was full.

We love this place and visit each time we go to Filey the food is lovely and very reasonably priced ( approx £10 main meal £6 kids meal and £8 pizza). This place has a fantastic view and is dog friendly. If you sit on the balcony drinks are to be in plastic. The services is great and very quick dispute it been very popular. The place it's self is a little on the run down side and could use a lock of paint. The toilets were very disappointing; needed a good clean, no paper towels left, soap had to be picked up and tipped into hand as did the hand sanitizer, the toilet didn't flush properly. Other than the place it's self needing a revamp we were very pleased with the service, food and price

We visited this glorified café during a trip to Filey. Upon arriving, nobody came to us to seat us and there were no signs up explaining what to do. There was no hand sanitiser anywhere like there was in the rest of Filey. I approached a member of staff to see if we seated ourselves and she looked at me like I had kicked her baby. She asked how many it was for and told us to sit by the window where there was a chair missing and table not big enough for our party. This was rectified eventually, (lots of empty tables available). My partner went to the bar to order as we were sat for 15 minutes without being acknowledged. The same member of staff came up to him when he was stood at the bar and took his order. The other people at our table had their food arrive before our drinks so we went to the bar to see what the situation was. She had not put our drinks order through. The food came out and some of the order was wrong, again soon rectified. The food was greasy, my son had a burger which came with an onion ring. I placed the onion ring on a napkin and 5 minutes later the napkin was full of grease. The staff looked miserable and there seemed to be no covid things in place, tables close together, no one way systems and the stairs leading up to the café were slippy and sandy. Looked like they hadn't been cleaned for awhile. No one asked how out food was or acknowledged us as we left. Shocking customer service and food greasy and basically inedible. Won't be going again.

Table hadn’t been cleaned since previous customers - staff not wearing masks or visors - no soap in the gents, I asked three times during my visit for this to be rectified but frankly the staff didn’t seem interested. No contact details taken for track & trace.

Booked a table at the Bistro as everywhere else was booked up and now we know why there were tables free here. The stairway to the Bistro was un kept, in need of painting and filthy. The staff were pleasant but I don’t think they had had any Covid training. We ordered Pizza hopping this would be a safe option but some of them were burnt underneath. The ladies toilets were disgusting and I would guess have not been cleaned this YEAR other the throwing some blue toilet cleaner at it as this was evident all over the back wall. The floor and skirting boards had thick dirt on them and the radiator had more rust than paint making this impossible to clean.I would advice you avoid this bistro.

We came here as a family for our wedding anniversary meal after not being able to get a table at San Marco. After reading some reviews on here I was feeling a bit anxious but had nothing to worry about! The food really was gorgeous and everyone was happy!We did arrive early and our table was booked for 17.30 and I must admit as we were leaving it was very busy and it did seem like chaos was unfolding in the restaurant with people stood waiting for tables! My husband was shocked at the mens toilets and said they needed a good clean, the ladies toilets were clean though and we had no other complaints! Would definitely return for the food!

Food terrible, the worst meal we have ever had in a restaurant. Not Covid secure, did not ask for any contact details, no hand sanitizer and toilets really poor. We should have left before we ordered, wish we had!! Waiting staff have no clue of how to serve. Have no idea how this place has been rated so highly.

Came here yesterday so my children could eat in doors as it got a bit chilly. They enjoyed there food but when my little girl asked to go to the toilet I was shocked to say the least! I would expect a public toilet to look and smell like that but absolutely NOT a toilet in a restaurant where I’ve come to eat, so unhygienic and quite frankly off putting. I don’t no how that’s justified in a place where they serve food.
