Great place for meeting friends Lively and fun, Good variety of drinks, Nice snacks. Owners were lovely and we felt very welcome. Dj was fun and played some great tunes. Everyone was friendly and we had a wonderful night.

A great night out in Filey. Book a table in advance if there are a few of you which is what we did as there was 6 of us. Also, get there early and make a night of it. Arrived at 7pm and the DJ was already playing. There’s only a few tables so the rest is standing room only and with not much space getting a drink from the bar or dancing becomes very difficult when the place fills up. The DJ was on form playing hit after hit from the 80’s onwards. The night got better when people started dancing. It gradually got busier but not overly so. Made for a relaxing evening. Before we knew it 11pm arrived. The DJ had been spinning for 4hrs non-stop. I honestly can’t recall any other night where everyone just sang and danced. It was on my list of Best Nights Ever!

Pooped in for a swift one. We ended up staying for about 5 hours. We were made so welcome by the owner who looked after us all night. A big thanks from me.

Went with freinds and had some lovely food and drinks don't take any notice of the bad reveiws it's a really nice place. The landlord even brought us all a baby guiness because one of the group had to wait for his pizza. Will deffo be going again.

What a mardy woman behind the bar! I ordered a vodka Diet Coke . I was served coke. I questioned why there was no vodka. Was then shouted at and swore at saying I ordered coke. I politely said could I have a vodka please. She then continued to swear at me saying I asked for coke!!!’ Avoid at all costs. Rude arrogant bar staff!!! Go to the imps instead. So much better and more reasonable priced to!

We were 2 couples on a bank holiday break . Stumbled across this bar and so glad we did. We were made to feel so welcome and to be honest spent our 2 days visiting this bar. So a fun atmosphere with the DJ and his wigs. Hence we got involved on both nights. Karen and Neil are wonderful hosts . Great customer service. Felt this bar was more up class than most around the area. Keep up the good work 👏

We came to Filey for the bank holiday with our friends so 4 of us for a fun weekend. After walking round we stumbled on this bar so glad we did. Made to feel so welcome. Joined in with the DJ playing are kind of music. Really good atmosphere. The owners were so accomdating and you can see how hard they and staff work to make this bar a success. It's a must to visit in Filey as there are not many good bars like this . Keep up the good work guys .

Been to Capt Wills a few times in the last few years and think it is amazing. Had some great nights in there with Mick Britton doing some class music. Got to know Karen and Neil. Will be back very soon, keep up the good work guys.

We always visit Captain Wills when we are in Filey. It’s a brilliant place, pretty decor, clean and good ambience. The food is delicious, portions size good & great value. The entertainment is always fabulous. Karen, Neil & Chantelle are all very welcoming, friendly, helpful, lovely people.

Captain Wills is a lovely place to go, the food is excellent and the place is immaculate. Karen and her husband are fantastic hosts who always give you a very warm welcome. DJ Mike is brilliant too who always gives the place a fabulous vibe. We love the place. Paul & Bev Godwin.

I was made to feel very uncomfortable by Karen last week. I am now sober and was made fun of to other people for drinking water. I was with a group of 15-20 others who ALL bought multiple alcoholic drinks so can’t say she wasn’t getting any money from us, but I overheard her twice shaming me. Shame on you Karen for the way you made me feel, think before you open your mouth next time!

I found the staff in here rude/abrupt and the place was poorly decorated looked cheap and tacky. Won’t be back

A lovely bar . Had pizza here which was lovely. Mick Britton is absolutely fantastic we used to follow him in Leeds where we live. It was great last summer but unfortunately it's still cold at the moment and the bar is freezing so we have to leave as I can't cope with being cold . Put the heating on and we will sat longer !!!!

Great place for a really good night out. Fantastic entertainment on Fridays. Lovely food and a very well stocked bar for beers, wines and cocktails. Bar staff very friendly and Karen manages the place excellently. I highly recommend and remember to book a table prior so you are not disappointed in not getting a table. Visited Captain Wills on a couple of occasions. Clean and tidy bar, fantastic atmosphere. Each time Mick Britton has been the DJ. and what a grand job he does. Really worth a night out. You can reserve a table but have to be there by 7pm.

It was OK only had a couple of budweiser

Visited yesterday. Had a very warm and friendly welcome from Karen, Neil and Chantelle. Great atmosphere & entertainment. Good service & drinks too. Very clean and comfortable surroundings. We had a fabulous evening & will return when next in Filey. We highly recommend a visit.

We had the best time, the apartment was top notch and the service second to none. Neil and Karen are superb hosts, nothing is too much. The atmosphere is very friendly and we had a great singer/comedian to ensure there was singing and laughter in equal measure. If you’re ever in Filey then make a point of visiting Captain Wills, you will not be disappointed.

Great experience from start to finish. Ordered the cheese and meat board. The cheese with the pineapple was AMAZING and the chutney was bob on. Staff and food top notch. Very much recommend. 👍

We have lived in bridlington two years now. Every now and again we go to filey and have a drink at captain wills. It’s a lovely little bar never had a problem with any of the staff always ask how we are and general chit chat it’s all you want in a bar. Chantelle makes a fab gin and lemoncello. See you soon. Warm welcome and very friendly would highly recommend a visit

We called last Saturday lunch time , just as Karen was opening up ,but never the less very soon rustled up a large pizza . We always use this very nice hideaway in the centre of town when in Filey. I have read some of the negative reviews and the outstanding positive one's. We have never found Karen & Neil anything other than welcoming, polite and obligeing. We can all have our off moments from time to time , but this couple really try there very best to offer nice food and a good selection of drinks . I also know Neil has recently had a knee replacement operation but soldiers on giving good service and both offer a warm welcome to all , at this little gem in Filey. This place has the best negative reviews I have ever read. They are brilliant and so funny, especially the contribution by Jason S! We were almost disappointed to have a really lovely time in probably the most sophisticated bar in Filey.

As we savored our drinks and engaged in animated conversations, an abrupt encounter with the owner cast a shadow over our otherwise enjoyable evening. This abrupt expulsion left us grappling for an explanation, as we had exhibited nothing but courtesy and respect throughout our time at the establishment. It is with a heavy heart that I pen this review, reflecting not only upon the unfortunate occurrence itself but also the tarnished memory it has left behind. The bewildering treatment we encountered stands in stark contrast to the inclusive and hospitable atmosphere that reputable bars strive to cultivate. It is my sincere hope that this incident remains an anomaly rather than a testament to the establishment's standard operating procedure. The eloquent exchange of dialogue and the harmonious interplay of diverse patrons are the cornerstones of any memorable bar experience, elements that regrettably were absent during our visit. Venue was great but hospitality was atrocious, blonde haired woman was nothing but rude and obnoxious after us spending £30 on 4 drinks she insulted us by telling us it wasn’t a waiting room because two pregnant women didn’t want a drink…..avoid at all costs

Love this place, lovely atmosphere, delicious food, great music with DJ who can read the audience, love the live music too, who sings something to suit everyone, lovely staff who are very attentive and make sure your served straight away and clean tables as soon as people leave.

Well Captain Karen struck again, she never fails to be rude to her customers does she. The food was absolutely appalling, that said the atmosphere Karen created ruined my meal & drinks. I personally feel this lady should learn some manners & respect or perhaps consider working in a different environment where she doesn't have to deal with the general public as she is not fit to do so. I honestly don't think it's good for any business to have someone with her attitude & the personality of a brick working amongst the general public. I did let myself known & Karen was extremely rude, i know others have complained in the correct manner too & still Karen proceeds to be obnoxious. As for shouting my mouth of I'm merely explaining my experience, far from shouting. You have many bad reviews & dissatisfied customers alot of which mention Karen.. seems to me they can't all be wrong.. Perhaps it's time Karen took a hike.

There is so much to say about this fabulous little jewel in downtown Filey. It sets itself up as an alternative to fish and chips shops and busy noisy pubs. It has attentive staff, excellent quality and well priced food and a great selection of drinks. We recommend the meat and cheese board. We had walked from Bempton that day and wanted somewhere lively but not too loud. The music was great and the noise level just perfect; lots of folks having fun. We will certainly be back.
