Golden River in Scarborough

Went to the Gold River in Filey last night the food was amazing they really excelled them selves !!! Been quite a few times over the years and have never been disappointed

Had a take out from here,fantastic food.

Never had a bad meal great service and delivery

These are so lucky that Filey has rubbish take aways or they would be out of business. Didn't get my order tonight and trying to navigate the totally uninterested individual who takes the orders simply leaves you frustrated. Shocking service.

Nice food for takeaway but restaurant area cluttered with stock and looked more like cafe than a restaurant.

Best Chinese I’ve ever had in the UK. Don’t be put off by the (somewhat shabby) decor, the food is amazing, and great value! I highly recommend the “buffet” option if eating in, which is and endless version of the menu freshly cooked, not an actual buffet.

Ordered take out for 3. Arranged timed pick up. Got there early and food was waiting. Drove back to camp site and 2 items missing. Disappointing as other wise food was good

Each time I write a review, it’s generally quite positive and that’s because when an issue occurs, I give the people concerned the opportunity to put things right. However, in this instance, just a few minutes of contact with the people involved were sufficient to make a terrible impression. My wife and myself approached the lady who was confirming the bookings and there was no greeting just a very cold question asking if we had booked. We confirmed that we had and were shown to a table by another lady. This particular person had an absolutely terrible attitude and her body language was almost approaching aggression. I had previously looked at quite a few reviews of this restaurant and was impressed with the comments relative to the good standard of food quality and consequently, we were really looking forward to our visit. Because of the above incidents, we had no choice but to leave without even taking a seat. Without a doubt, this is by far the worst experience that we have encountered over many years of dining out.

Cheep and cheerful good food lots of choice the curry could be a bit more juicy.owner a bit arrattic seems unorganised but she not she’s very busy with restaurants and take away so shows food is good.

Totally shocked tonight me and my family had a table booked for 5pm . 6 of us for my son’s birthday we pre booked 3 days ago . And we was told we did not book and was turned away .The owner and staff was very rude to me and all my family . We will never come here again or recommend to no one we all are in shock how they treated us all . We have been coming here for over 5 years , we will never come again . Really sad to be honest but glad in a way as if they treat people like this I would hate to think what they do with the food, what we don’t no about . Treated us like scum .

Food was delicious. Staff friendly and efficient. Nicest sauces I have had.

First class Chinese food. The crispy kung po chicken with cashew nuts is amazing as is the lemon chicken.

Had a takeaway delivered to the place we were staying. Fantastic service, excellent food, good portion sizes and very reasonably priced. Would definitely be my first choice of Chinese food.

Wasted £50 worth of food for the sake of not wanting to drive less than a minute to Primrose Valley main reception from the front gate or wait 5 mins for us to walk to the gate. Didn't care. Shocking.

Amazing Chinese. We were staying at the crows nest holiday park and decided to order a takeaway for delivery to the park. It was lovely very tasty would highly recommend. Thankyou.

Had a takeaway and picked this place due to better reviews. We were very dissappointed. Had chicken fried rice which had no flavour, had wantons and tasted greesy and had a salt and pepper starter box - the only nice thing was the ribs. Everything else bland and tasteless. The sweet and sour sauce tasted and smelt of pure vinager. Woken up next morning and feeling unwell, food clearly not settled well. Put me off chinese food.

Ordered take out while staying at near by holiday camp. We just ordered x2 noodle dishes one chicken one pork. The pork one was beautiful tasting. I felt the chicken was a bit spongy but tasted nice. The salt n chilli chips were very lightly seasoned however was Suprised to see the chips were actual chips like the chip shop does and not frozen generic chips. Would definitely like to try more items from menu if we ever return.

Staying at the bay holiday Village ordered a delivery telephone manner was excellent delivery to the door ten out of ten food was large portions and lovely

Fantastic food delivered to us on holiday at The Bay near Filey. Best noodles I’ve had. Picking up orders by car is a bit of a pain.. nowhere quick to park, so take a passenger and have them jump out & collect whilst you wait nearby.

Visited for take away food. I had duck which was a small portion shredded to tiny dust like fragments of duck. My wife asked for crispy shredded chicken (which is on the menu), but she wanted it in the cantonese sauce (also on the menu) however they said they couldn't do that. In the window they had children's chicken nuggets, however they refused to sell that as a takeaway option, and could only be ordered when dining inside, despite coming out of the same kitchen?? The woman serving was also rude and very abupt. It all seemed like too much trouble for her. Oh and it's cash only. Wont be returning.

5* place. Nothing can beat this restaurant. Loved every minute of our meal. Service was exceptional. Also value for money.

I ordered the chow mein and the chicken was sloppy like it wasn't cooked, I couldn't eat it. However the noodles were okay. Definitely not the best Chinese I've been to for chow mein.

As good a Chinese meal as you could get anywhere.

The best Chinese takeaway I have had for many years. We got a good variety of starters and main courses and every last item was perfectly prepared. The crispy duck was the best I can remember ever having tasted and the Hoi Sin sauce was superb. The marinade on the chicken wings was subtle and exquisite. But that goes for the entire takeaway. Odering and delivery was very civilised and efficient. We consider ourselves fortunate to have discovered Golden Dragon, as regular holidaymakers in 5Leys holiday accommodation in Filey. In all honesty the only Chinese food I have had that compares with this, was in London's Soho - many years ago.

Food OK, but not suitable for a true Chinese meal experience, no chopsticks, no heated tray, no finger bowl, no fortune cookies. Lacked a certain professional standard. The takeaway was extremely busy with a continuous flow of customers next to the small restaurant area.

Called in for pick up, fast, quality food, ate it back at the caravan, tasted fantastic, would highly recommend, will definitely be back

Booked by friends as we were visiting the area. In all honesty it's great possibly as a take away but not a restaurant. Initially only offered an all you can eat menu which you had to pay cash for and we're charged extra if you left anything on the plate!! We asked if there were other menus and told we could use the takeaway menu but would be charged extra 20%. Very busy with people coming in to collect orders but not much ambiance. The young girl who served us was lovely but must have been new so had to keep going to get answers to our questions. Might have a take away from there but not eat in.

Was told the delivery was going to be an hour , still.waiting an hour and half later !! No phone call , nothing !! Don’t waste your time ordering delivery !!! Very rude , no apology , nothing !! Will never , ever use them again. I’m local and will tell everyone not to use them !!!

Really enjoyed the all you can eat. The waitress was amazing helpful polite as was Jenny the owner working her socks off in the kitchen. The portion sizes are large so beware if you want to try lots of dishes. You do need to book as the restaurant does only seat about 20 but you are not squashed in.

Only 1 star as had to add 1 !!!! Cook / owner unhelpful and all seemed a bit too much effort for her. Went elsewhere.

I visited The Golden Dragon with my partner after reading some great reviews. We booked a table for 7pm on arrival we were greeted and shown to our table. We ate from the all you can eat menu which had lots to choose from. I had Chicken and Sweetcorn soup, large pancake roll, 2 portions of ribs, crispy duck, salt and chilli king prawns, prawn toast I prefer the starters my partner has a beef chow mein. All the food was served piping hot the standard of food was excellent and the service was great. Drinks were reasonable and WE WILL DEFINITELY be coming back Great Food at a Great Price I would advise anyone to book as it gets very busy. Don't expect a plush place but the food is lovely

We went on a staff night out and had the eat all you can menu. You get to choose unlimited appetisers, all of which were really tasty. Then you move onto the main course menu, which again is unlimited. Would definitely recommend and will absolutely be returning.

Tried today 27/04/22 again exactly the same sevice, from lady taking the order very polite to delivery.....thank you will be returning next time on hols in August, house special chow mein amazing as is all there food 😁😁 This is our 3rd time whilst staying in filey....28/08/22 for 12 days lvly and hot quick delivery,very polite... had prawn fried rice lots of prawns,beef in pepper sauce amazing and again special chow mein with sauce.....highly recomend 😁😁😁👍👍👍👍👍

Very good food, very quick service

Lovely food but the reception staff are miserable and was witnessed talking about customers to the deliver driver while we were placing our order. The reception staff do need some customer service skills and at least smile and welcome their customers. The atmosphere is very negative on entering the chinese and feels as though customers are not welcome. The food itself I would give 5 out of 5 but I have knocked two stars off due to the negativity and rudeness of the reception staff.

Wasn't 100% sure what we were doing when we sat down, based on the menu, but once we fathomed it out (£16 per adult), off we went. It was all you can eat, but everything was cooked fresh, and with the note at the bottom stating we would be charged £3 per plate of wasted food, that made sure we only ordered what we could eat. The food was amazing, service with a huge smile, well worth the visit. But book, people without were being turned away as there were only seats for about 20 people.

Not my place of choice nor taste. It was ok, I didn't really enjoy the taste of starters or main course. The staff lady was nice towards the end only and until then she was running back and forth for orders and screaming. Though, Mango dessert is very nice here! Try that

Just been here. Drove 20 miles to get there. Zero stars for service. Even though they said they were still open for another 1 1/2 hours and there was one table free a d not booked (I checked), they said they "we're not doing any more tables". Avoid on the basis they don't stick to there own published times.

Down at primrose valley and we were told this was thee best place for Chinese food....they weren't wrong!!!aromatic duck,chicken curry and beef in black bean sauce....all were absolutely delicious!!delivered quickly and piping hot....upon checking we didn't have the hoisin sauce to go with the pancakes,a quick call and the owner brought it up to us himself!!much hilarity but a fantastic feast and superb delivery.thank you guys it was tasty as.very happy campers.

Live in flamborough and had a drive through to filey. Read the reviews about this place so we hot a takeaway and took it home. Firstly the lady who served us who'd moved back from Wakefield was lovely and very polite,it's about 12 miles to our home and the food was still piping hot and beautiful. We will definitely be going back and try the buffet.

One of the nicest Chinese food restaurants you will find, they have a all you can eat in but we had takeaway on 2 nights whilst visiting Haven at primrose valley. Just amazing food.

Not your normal buffet!!!!! Only been twice in 4 years. the front of house team are Friendly, attentive, knowledgeable. Happy to explain what something is or accommodate if your dietry needs don't allow you to have something. The chef's make everything (appears to me) fresh, hot and to your liking. Finally the price is pocket friendly.

Nice food, hot and tasty. We really enjoy the food from hear.

Visiting the area and had seen the Google reviews so gave them a try. Ordered at 5.15pm on a Friday night and the driver delivered to our caravan site at 5.45pm. Was one of the best Chinese meals we have ever had. Chow mein was superb, the curry sauce was the best Chinese curry we have ever tasted. Even the free prawn crackers were brilliant. Great food and great service, we will definitely order form them again. 10 out of 10
