The Glass House At Charlottes in Scarborough

This is a lovely place to eat. We stayed in Filey for 4 nights and had lunch here twice. Lovely decor, dog friendly, friendly and helpful staff. Food is really good, we had panini’s, mushroom stroganoff and biscoff cheesecake which was delicious!

Party of seven, just been for lunch on the last day of a week holiday. By far the best food and service we have had all week. Great family friendly place with good choice of food.

This seems a rather special place with its ancient vine. The staff were welcoming and found a good place for me to park my mobility scooter. My husband's burger was a bit expensive but it was high quality and huge. I loved my scampi. I had a side salad which was very good and the waitress kindly made me my favourite dressing (olive oil and balsamic vinegar). It was a great lunch and set us up for the afternoon's activities.

First impressions count so passing this business a couple of hours before it opened I was amazed to see through the side windows old chips under one table, a couple of days later a half eaten ham sandwich under a table . Hygiene and cleanliness is paramount in any establishment serving food. It was quite clear that not only had the floor not been swept properly on at least two occasions but had not been mopped either. So my intention to visit for a meal was quickly cancelled.

Very expensive for ordinary food. Decor gives the impression if a cafe. It's time Filey had Greg's or Mcdonald. Lack of serious competition.

Where do I start. Dog friendly, huge bonus for us. Excellent service Comfortable seating Great choice of food and drinks Food was really, really good. Highly recommend

Confused - have the prices gone up recently? I don't remember the dishes being so expensive. So we didn't end up going tonight due do meals being roughly £18-20. It's a shame as it has nice lighting/ambience. This year, I've taken visitors twice when they've come to stay. Sadly, we won't be able to go again. For some reason I remember it being around £12-13 but maybe I had something cheaper. The food is nice but not worth £18-20; dogs are allowed to wander about inside - some dogs walked to our table and under it (not great when you're trying to relax and eat)

Visited today to celebrate my birthday with my Husband. The staff were extremely lovely and the food, quite honestly was amazing. I had the prawns to start and then Red Snapper, oh my word the snapper was gorgeous and cooked to perfection. Husband had salt and pepper squid to start which was fantastic and again cooked perfectly. He followed this with a chicken tikka pizza. The pizza was fresh, huge and tasted perfect. Would certainly visit again. The decor and atmosphere was brilliant with live grape vines and lemon trees in the venue. Also liked the fact that it was dog friendly even though we dont have a dog. Highly recommended.

Inside is lovely area outside needs a good tidy and clean. Ordered from the seafood menu , big mistake the food was poor, portion size ridiculous and cold. Very disappointed with the whole experiancec... I would not eat or drink here again. The staff were like heaess chikens....

Went there last September (2023) and had an excellent 3 course meal. Went 6 June 2024 and it was terrible. Odered pre dinner drinks and olives plus starters, main courses and bottle of wine. Pre dinner drinks arrived but olives came with starters (!!). We could live with that but things started to go wrong when the mains arrived. My wife's was cold. We sent it back. After 5-10 minutes I went to the bar to see what was going on. The waitress told me they were busy with other meals but went and got it. This time it was lukewarm. Enough was enough we paid for what we had eaten but not the main course (I had only eaten part of mine as I was waiting to eat with my wife). The waitress obviously doesn't like complains as she told me 'not to talk to her like that'. I did not raise my voice or use offensive language but was somewhat annoyed. Avoid like the plague.

We went here for 1pm Sunday Lunch . The first thing the waitress said is there are no hot drinks we have ran out of milk ! Surely a problem that can be rectified. The Sunday lunch was grey and dry . The stuffing and cauliflower cheese was dry inedible, the gravy a strange colour and tasteless . Service poor a massive disappointment, in a lovely vine tree restaurant.

Visited here as often walked past and thought it looked nice to try out so when family came to stay we booked a table. The meal was nice and we all enjoyed the food, although felt rushed to order. The main critismn was all the chairs being put onto the tables all around us whilst we were still at our table. It wasn't and would have been about 9-9.30pm.. There's nothing like the feeling of being unwelcome and wanting someone out of the place as we felt on our visit.

36 of us sat down to diner last night. Not one complaint!! Staff were friendly and gave each one at the bar a good welcome. Portion size was good , food really lovely. Will return at some point as we like to support local businesses

We were in Filey for the first time recently and had not booked anywhere for lunch. So my wife suggested that we try this place. WOW, we had a Sunday lunch, it was amazing. The choice of beers is good and the staff were really good. If you want to eat here I would advise to book, we were lucky to get a table, after we sat down other people were getting turned away unless they had booked.

Lovely venue,please don't complain about anything even in a constructed manner the staff will gang up on you and accuse you of lying,the food was average at best,when we complained the staff threatened to phone the police and the owner appeared at our table in a threatening manner,if you want a nice quiet meal out don't go here!!

Pleasant pub restaurant in the centre of Filey. We called in there after a day of walking and shopping for a relaxing drink. We sat in the pub area of the premises which had a traditional pub feel. The area is comfortable with pleasant surroundings and large sofa style seating, together with traditional tables and chairs. The staff were friendly and efficient and there are some good beers, wines and drinks on offer including a large menu of cocktails and specials. My wife had a glass of white and I a glass of red. Both wines were good quality. There was a good wine list with probably about four of each wine type which could be ordered by the glass. We had a very relaxing time there and would visit again when in Filey. We might try the food next time. The restaurant is much more contemporary and has a modern feel with table seating but it’s not plain it’s very colourful.

Great food and drink with friendly staff. Really nice modern surrounding that puts the rest of hospitality in Filey to shame.

So I dont like Sunday roast dinners so this last sunny Sunday afternoon for lunch there is no better place than this. The Glass House At Charlottes Filey. This place is new to us and wow what a tempting mouthful of joyous food was served. The ambiance was nice & relaxed, cheerful bright room, no bookings are taken for lunch The other half had the Fish Pie this was a delight, nice sauce wonderful cheesy mash and a superb salad, I had the Asian Thai infused sea bass it was wonderful the fish didn’t have one bone in it and the flavours where sublime, I am not a fan of Quinoa but im now converted, I loved it. We had a cool glass of coke each and then the Bill came, it’s not cheap but quality food costs with the total bill £42.00. we are going to make this place a regular stop off when out in Filey.

Meal for 4 of us here while holidaying in Filey. Menu varied and looked quite upmarket with the pricing. Food was OK and of an average standard, but nothing amazing about it. Staff let this place down and the reason for our low review score. No nice welcome on entry. At no point during or after our meal did anyone ask us if everything was OK. We were never asked if we wanted another drink after finishing our first ones. At the end of the meal we were not asked if we had finished as they started clearing the table. Finally we were just left sitting there, no mention of asking if we'd like a dessert menu and we then had to get up to go to the bar and get someone's attention to get the bill and pay. We been to Filey on holiday for 16 consecutive years and always on the look out for different places to eat, this place won't be on the list again. Overpriced for what it is and poor attitude from the staff.

Came here for lunch with the kids. 10 mins before someone came to take an order. Food arrived, no cutlery. Macaroni cheese was inedible and wasn’t actually macaroni, more like overdone pasta in a cheese coloured clag. When I expressed my concern with paying for the “Mac + cheese” the manager seemed to indicate it was my fault that I hadn’t informed her at first bite. The problem was, no one came to check on our table throughout the meal. So rather than just take the feedback and refund the £6.25 for the “mac & cheese”, she just responded with attitude and rudeness. Safe to say, we won’t be back. Avoid. Ps - they didn’t put any Brie in the bacon and Brie panini. Bacon was alright to be fair though

Our booking was at 6.30 pm for 6 adults (-6 meals , 2 puddings and drinks £150 ) At 7.30pm the waitress (the one who takes the orders ) breezed over and said ‘just to let you know we need you off this table soon as the people have arrived who have your table after you ’ Bearing in mind we had waited 20 minutes for our puddings to arrive … we couldn’t believe we were been rushed out after one hour !! We mentioned we had only been here one hour… She said ‘oh I got mixed up with another table ! I’m so busy … ‘ We paid the bill but it really spoilt our experience with just how nonchalant she was , breezing about saying how busy she was…. I asked to see the manager and was absolutely gob smacked when they pointed to the very same nonchalant waitress!!! I mentioned how unbelievable it was that we had paid £150 and they couldn’t wait to get rid of us . Instead of acknowledging how angry we were she kept on saying I’m busy , I’m busy , I’m busy … sorry but I’m busy …and turning her back to me … Never once did the apology sound at all sincere . The customer service was appalling and it made us even angrier! Just how unbothered they were … When we spoke to the blonde waitress ( with Filey gin black t shirt) she must have been on the same ‘how to treat your customers with no respect course and argue back ‘ too and when we said we would write a review on trip advisor she smiled and said ‘ do it ‘ Their attitude just enraged us even more !! Just appalled at the attitude of these 2staff members !! Totally ruined our night . Whoever owns this restaurant should be absolutely embarrassed by the manager’s way of dealing with unhappy customers! Avoid , avoid avoid

Walked past during a visit to Filey and liked the look of the restaurant. Met by a friendly front of house lady who welcomed us and our 2 small dogs. I had a beautiful lasagne with salad, chips and garlic bread and my wife had the fish pie which was stunning. Lovely ambience and a meditteranean feel to it. Thanks everyone for a wonderful visit.
