Lovely fish and chips!! We ordered the small portion, which was fine for us. The regular fish looked large. Nice surroundings and really pleasant service!!

There was too much batter for me and my partner ,but I've had a lot better fish and chips there before .

Brilliant service and food as always. Been here quiet a few times now. Portions are massive. Food out of this world. Will return soon.

.been going to inghams for years but noticed there's more batter than fish what's happened different suppliers or something. Definitely a difference in the size of the fish

The best Fish and Chip experience I have ever had, the restaurant had plenty of space, the servers were very friendly and quick, the food was amazing and not too expensive like most.

Absolutely dreadful been here before but went in last night at 6pm never again the chips were dreadful fish dry sausage must have been sat there for ages it was awful don’t bother certainly at 6pm better places in filey!

Food alright, customer service not great. We were visiting the area from Wales and checked reviews prior to choosing Inghams- we had high hopes but unfortunately the food (sausage in batter, chips, curry sauce) was average at best and the person serving wasn’t friendly in the slightest.

Excellent fish and chips restaurant in Filey. Well cooked, substantial piece of haddock with great chips. The poached haddock was also very good I'm told. My only gripe is that there's no vegetable oil option. Having said that the taste wasn't too "meaty".

Ordered small haddock plenty of fish but batter a tad thick for me, fish white and top notch, chips didn't seem freshly cooked, mushy peas were really good

The biggest 'small' fish I've ever seen 😮 Very good fish and chips and would definitely recommend. Staff were very pleasant even though she was run off her feet .....answering the door, taking orders, making up the orders, serving ordersand clearing tables. Well done that girl!!! Don't understand why you make customers wait outside when you don't have a front of house person to organise seating. 2 people sat at table for 8 while people are outside waiting in the cold and rain . Excellent food but badly organised.

Visited here with friends and family last week. The service was quick and friendly. The food was lovely, crispy batter, tasty fish, regular haddock was huge. Ambience was nice, great tunes on, we were enjoying it so much we hadn’t even realised they had closed for the afternoon. The staff were so nice and friendly, they hadn’t rushed us or made us feel like it was a problem, which was so kind. Would 100% recommend this fish & chip restaurant if visiting Filey.

Quite slow service given the number is customers who were in at the time. For is good and portions are large. One large meal is probably enough for two!

Average quality and size of portions for a Filey Fish and Chip shop. Food cooked traditionally in beef dripping. Chips were nicely cooked and the fish batter was crispy. The curry sauce was interesting with the addition of sweetcorn. Note food hygiene is 3 stars. So ok, but below the average for most Filey venues.

Been going here for over a year now, without question the best fish and chips shop not just in town but that I have ever been to. Always top notch food, always very friendly staff even with difficult and abusive customers that we have witnessed before, always clean and tidy and has lovely décor throughout. A must go to place if you want more than just fish and chips but an all-round great dining experience whether that be solo, as a couple, with friends or with family.

It's was horrible my chips came out cold and calf of them were manky and the fish tasted bitter greasy and almost flavourless it was disgusting would not recommend 1/10

One of the best fish and chips in Filey. We love the batter and the taste of the fish is so good even without any salt. The chips is slightly crispy outside and soft inside. Definitely 10 out of 10!

Very lovely place, but I've noticed that this was a 5* food hygiene, and now it's 3*. Fish and chips were good. Very decent portions, loads of chips, and a good bit of fish. The prices could be better but that's just how things are going now of days. Tartar sauce was nice, and the curry sauce & mushy peas were lovely and came in massive pots. Staff were lovely, and the service was very attentive. There was a que to get in. Bit of a wait, about 15 minutes, but that is nice to see. It proves it's good. Some other points, I think staff should be a bit more on their feet. People were waiting outside, and tables were just sat empty with plates on. Also, you need to keep the white paper receipts with your orders when you pay. This was not told to us by staff when we ordered. Luckily, we had kept ours on the table. I can see this causing issues.

Me and my partner explore the east coast as we both enjoy walking and biking and on our travels try chippies along the way. Today it was Filey to host and what a disappointment, the service was ok and staff friendly, and the time our order to arrive was ok. But when the food arrive the plate was full with a mountain of chips and two cauldrons of mushy peas and two fried haddock, the chips get great reviews by others but sorry we both found them tasteless and left over 3 quarters of them the fish was ok but my partner did enjoy the mushy peas, but £33 just to enjoy the peas and the pot of tea didn’t seam like a good investment. So to summarise a large plate of fish and chips but lacking drastically in taste.

Visited the takeaway on a sunny Sunday afternoon in February. There were queues for both the takeaway and restaurant which is generally a good sign. I’ve been getting fish and chips here for years when visiting Filey. They have generally been fantastic. Sadly, they seem to be going down hill the past few times I’ve been. The fish portion seems to have shrunk dramatically. The batter was lovely and crisp and well drained but overpowered the fish which had been sat in the warmer for ages and was dry and overcooked. The chips were tasty. Sadly the peas were fluorescent green processed peas rather than homemade. Overall, disappointing for £20. I’m not sure I’ll go back.

Always visit when we're in the area and it never disappoints. Exceptional service, extremely reasonable prices and always friendly staff. Managed to get parked right outside for once aswell!

Best fish & chips we have ever had!!! The batter on the fish was amazing, chips were chunky & crispy, served on lovely plates with traditional cutlery, bread & butter reasonably priced at 20p a slice! Mushy peas were homemade, not bright green things from a tin,( my other half had beans, which were nice too) the fish itself was thick white flakes of pure heaven, so tasty, I'm not kidding when I say I've thought about this meal daily since we ate it last week!! Definitely will be going back cus it's worth the drive from Sheffield!!

I have visited many times over the years, but this visit left us disappointed. We were the first customers of the day in the restaurant the seats and floor hadn't been cleaned from the night before. We had to brush food of the seats before we could sit down. The restaurant was on the cold side not welcoming. Our orders were taken no problem there. Everything arrived perfectly. We were a large group, those who had fish and chips found the batter too thick and undercooked. The chips were small and sharp. It has put us off returning.

Had takeaway fish and chips for tea. The two lads cooking and serving were lovely and friendly. The fish was cooked fresh while we waited. We shared a portion of chips, and there were plenty for both of us. The fish and chips were gorgeous. I can definitely say they were the best I have had. My partner had mushy peas, and he said they were perfect. I had curry sauce, and it was to die for. I wish I'd bought extra pots to take home to freeze. It was so scrummy. Very reasonably priced, £17.50. Wish we lived closer so we could visit every week. Walked past today, and there was a queue to get into the restaurant part of the shop. We will try the restaurant on our next visit to Filey.

Cod excellent but haddock a little drier than usual

The obvious popularity of this place speaks for itself.. The fish and chips were perfect and I had a large curry sauce and a pot of tea.. I would definitely recommend that you go here to try it..

Lovely fish and chips! We called today for Sunday lunch fish and chips. The lady’s serving were lovely, really welcoming. Good size portions for the prices too! Definitely recommend!

Delicious food today. Haddock & chips. gives us that England feeling again on our first day of holiday.

We wanted lunch here and there were two people queuing outside so we joined the queue.There were vacant tables although it was busy. Another two couples joined the queue but no staff came to speak to us and it was very cold to have to wait outside. After about 15 minutes of being ignored, the two couples behind us gave up. Some customers came out but still no attention from staff so we gave up too. We called at the takeaway next door to tell them we had waited in vain and been totally ignored, but the bearded man behind the counter was quite hostile and said they were very busy. He was not apologetic not did he attempt to explain why nobody had at least come to us to let us wait indoors or say there was a long delay. Customer service non existent! Needless to say, we went elsewhere to spend our money and were welcomed

staff looked pissed off that I went in, I ordered fish chips and a battered sausage, they got my order wrong and huffed when I told them, the fish must have been sat out for a long while as it was as dry as a slipper, they didn't even close the boxes and left me to struggle with it on the counter... maybe I got unlucky, but this is a solid 1/10 for service and 2/10 food (the chips were edible) I will be trying one of the many others in Filey next time, won't go back here.

Went for lunch. Decided to try Inghams fish and chip restaurant in Filey as we have enjoyed their take away service in the past. As it was cold we decided to eat indoors. We both have a small appetite. We were not allowed to share a haddock and chips, not allowed to have a children's portion and there is no OAP menu. Decided to go to CJs instead as they cater for OAPs. Crazy that they would rather turn away customers than serve small portions! Considering how many OAPs visit Filey this is a bad call. Won't be going back unless they change their policy.

Consistently the best fish and chips in the country. Cooked in Beef dripping like they should be. Been coming here 20 years and always the best. My wife and her parents have been coming here since it opened over 40 years ago! I always get the special which is a good portion for those with a bigger appetite.

We  opted just for chips this time, to go with our sandwich. While a decent amount for the price, my chips were dry. As I don't like vinegar, or sauce or salt, this made them hard to eat. I must remember to order peas or curry sauce or gravy next time! Not up to the usual standard for me. Shame.

Visited for the 1st time today for lunch with a friend who wanted fish and chips, I was in desperate need of a chip butty with curry sauce to dip it in. We both left stuffed to the gills and extremely happy! Great service, lovely helpful staff and fantastic food! Very understanding of dietary needs!

All good, super batter on the fish and tasty. Chips same as most places but cooked nicely(shame everybody uses maris pipers) but i get why. Staff really lovely and liked the decor, great place for seaside chippy meal. P.s a whopper for reg.

I don’t like giving bad reviews as it can affect people’s livelihood but today the takeaway offer was average at best. It should have been called chips and batter, because that’s all I got. Lots and lots of batter on a tiny fish , chips ok but the fish very poor indeed. Not totally terrible but definitely less than average

Wow! Just eaten here and had the best Haddock and chips ever. Crispy battered haddock with fresh chips and Scampi and chips. The portions were huge . Will definitely go here again when next in the area. You must eat here for a taste sensation.

Visited Saturday 19th October for a proper fish and chips lunch. Didn’t disappoint at all! Everything cooked fresh and to perfection not greasy or stodgy at all. Be aware the portions are huge! Including the sides (even a regular) so go hungry or ask for half portion of chips! Absolutely fantastic! We will be back!

Best fish and chips in YORKSHIRE

As a group of seven girlfriends away for a weekend at the East Coast we decided to have Saturday lunch here. The service was fantastic - efficient and friendly the young lady checking back that all was ok. One friend drenched her fish n chips mistakenly with sugar - still delicious she said after brushing the sugar off and sprinkling salt instead. All in all service, food and atmosphere spot on. Thank you.

Some of the best fish and chips I've had, in very pleasant surroundings and with excellent, friendly service. Value for money was excellent, as the portion sizes are huge, fish was tasty and fresh, and the drinks and sides were also very good prices. Happy to recommend.

I had large cod and chips in this restaurant on Saturday and I could not praise the food and service enough. The price of the food is very fair and the portions were fantastic. The service was very very friendly and efficient. Can not recommend this place enough. If your in Filey head there for a treat.

Called in today and ordered a special haddock. I’m difficult to please with fish & chips, but they’ve got this sorted to perfection. Beef dripping for frying, a crisp batter, beautiful moist flakes within. Flavoursome. Friendly staff. I think the ventilation needs a little attention (window was drenched in condensation and found I needed some air by the time it came to leave - perhaps it was a one off?), but would happily still return

$0 years of going to Inghams and NEVER a bad experience - though far cheaper for us oldies now kids have grown up! I had "small" Haddock and half scoop of chips, fish was absolutely beautiful, meaty, fresh, not greasy, light crispy batter, chips cooked perfectly. OH had the "standard" Haddock and chips - for the price and quality and portion size Inghams far outweighed any competitor. Have to say the service was outstanding and faultless on both occasions we visited from all the staff. Felt welcome and valued. Looking forward to seeing you all in May 2025 Inghams - 40 years later and you have never let us down - a massive thank you!

We were a group of 13 at the end of walking the Cleveland Way. Tired and very wet, we were welcomed and looked after by the wonderful Andrea. The fish and chips was outstanding, beautifully fresh, cooked and served to order and absolutely delicious. The service friendly and helpful. Definitely the place for fish and chips in Filey. Will definitely return anytime I am in the area.

Queued for 15 mins over a busy rainy lunchtime, but I'm British, we love a queue! We were kept informed of times, staff were polite and friendly and the food was worth the wait.

We had a very good meal nice and hot plenty to eat staff were very helpful will be going back 👍

If you are stopping at primrose valley you have got to try Inghams Fish Restaurant just a little drive away. Had haddock and chips with X2 carlsberg My partner had the same but with a pot of tea 'Yorkshire tea'. Friendly staff good service, probably the best battered fish I've had!!! (We ate in the restaurant) If you are visiting and near Filey worth a sit in and sample yourself, you won't be disappointed!!!😉

Hands down the best fish and chips we've had anywhere in the UK. Regular haddock and chips, was plenty even for me and my large appetite, the fish was cooked perfectly with nice light batter and the chips were so moorish. Very reasonably priced and we didn't have to wait long to get a table, we highly recommend eating here if you're visiting Filey!

Simply the best fish and chips I've ever had

Traditional chippie done very well. Batter on haddock was excellent. Mushy peas still recognisable as peas unlike the green paste that others sometimes do.

Smashing food as expected - we drove from Hull to Filey just for the experience. Its years since either of had been but it was just as good as ever.

Recommended by friends, this place didn't disappoint. Great service from the moment we arrived. Menu included smaller portions (perfect for my elderly mum) and other fish dishes which was good. We went for the cod and chips with mushy peas. It was enormous!! Best we have had in a long time and peas were delicious.. highly recommend this place.
