Great food had Sunday lunch gluten free amazing gravy and vegetables mash etc. Would reccomend and will be back next time we up here.

Absolutely brilliant place!! The staff and locals were super polite and welcoming!!! They serve great food, they have darts, a pool table and an open fire. What more could you ask for. I'll definitely be back when I'm next in Scarborough.

Came here after attending a funeral, food was laid on for those attending the funeral. The buffet was lovely and a good choice of things to eat

Sunday dinner is lovely homemade food just a shame they stop serving dinner early if served till 6pm we would go more often. Love the huge gravy boat and you can also get a dinner delivered.

Perfect location for meeting up with family following a service at the nearby crematorium. Bar staff were pleasant, the buffet food was very tasty and plenty of parking space around the side of the pub.Not sure we would visit here unless in the local vicinity, but nevertheless pleasant enough.

The worst pub EVER been to - No wonder it was empty (and when I say that I really do mean empty - not one customer) at half 7 on a Saturday evening. Claim to be 'dog friendly' but wouldn't let us in with our dog because they said their dog would attack ours! You'd have thought they would want the business! Our local pub takes their dog behind the bar when another dog comes in - Even though it is a friendly dog! Anyway we decided to get drinks and have outside. Sat on one of the two picnic benches and my partner and I both sh!t ourselves thinking it was gonna collapse, so we went to sit on the other. It was even worse!

Booked to have a small Birthday Party at the Duchess. It was a pleasure dealing with the staff and they produced a fantastic buffet - absolutely delicious - cannot fault it at all. They had decorated the room for me and we had music/dancing and karaoke available. The homemade quiches and scones etc were great. This is a perfect venue for your celebrations - not far from town and ample parking available. The pub does a lovely Sunday lunch and they are starting to do a Fish and Chip menu, and they offer a delivery service. Thank you Tracy, Debbie, Laura and Pete for a great evening.

First class service and excellent food

Traveled all over the world, when in Scarborough this is "home away from home". Tucked safely in nice local community with enviable location The Duchess Pub welcomes both the friendly locals and also foreign tourists (like me!). Entire staff is efficient, friendly and have done a great job of epitomizing what a local British pub is all about! They always greet you and it is easy to get to know the loyal customers who also chat and laugh. Nice place to be with free wifi . Food and drinks are exceptional with choice of tasty beers on tap, drink specials, flavored vodka cocktails, etc. at reasonable prices. Great for washing down their delicious homemade dishes (including Sunday Roast with choice of meats and size; small, medium and large). Music is fantastic, activities to participate in depending on the day and overall, a great place to be regardless of time of day. Attracts a nice crowd of people with dining choices - indoors, private room and pub area with billiard table, window seating and outdoor seating. Nearby trails with park benches are also enticing for walking then coming back for another ice cold beverage. This is truly UK hospitality at its best and can also be booked for private events. Highly recommend for families too! Warm and inviting...

In the words of Garth Algar pffft! This cokes gone bad. I asked for a pint of coca cola and i got what i thought was the left over from the Chernobyl disaster and i got charged a premium rate for it nearly had to take out a second mortgage. Next time i will just go to Alex armani's flat and drink his half coke half piss in a bottle as that will probably taste better

Had a fantastic evening celebrating my son's birthday. The food was amazing and Tracy went above and beyond to ensure we were happy with everything. In fact all the staff were fantastic and Stacey made everyone feel very welcome. Thank you Duchess for a fab evening.

Not that impressed. There are parking charges in the car park. Limited beer choices. There are improvements to the property going on so hopefully that should bode better for the future

Harbour views, good value We enjoyed a drink and a snack here after walking from the Spa. We love Scarborough and go ever year for at least a day and ofter a week.

Called in with some friends after hearing it had been recently taken over. We live close by but had stopped using the Dutchess due to previous ownership. So looking forward to getting our local back. The place is clean and tidy so no complaints there. Found a seat with ease, so far so good. The issues started when we went to the bar and ordered 2 pints of lager. £7.20 said the slightly sour faced bar staff. Well at £3.60 a pint we thought hmm ok not bad priced either. Ignoring the miserable staff everything else was looking great. We started making plans to return. THEN it all went a little odd. Turns out this is a local pub for local people. And even though we live in the area we obviously don't fit in to that category. I went up to the bar for some more drinks and 2 guys were getting served in front of me. 2 pints of lager they said £6 the now smiling bar staff said. Hang on a minute it just be happy hour!! So I order 2 more pints waiting for my happy hour discount. £7.20 the again miserable bar staff said. A little confused I asked why the 2 gents next to me had gotten theirs cheaper. Oh they're regulars was the reply. They spend a lot of money in here. Well I shall not repeat what I said to my friends as we picked up our belongings and left but we shall not be returning. The Dutchess could be a lovely, family, welcoming place but unfortunately I will never find out. I have never heard anything so absurd.

A tatty,dismal pub with no atmosphere,mediocre pub grub.I have visit on a number of occasions because of buisness.The staff show little interest which leads me to believe they do not enjoy their work.Overall a sad Pub.

I would just like to say thank you to all the staff who were very friendly and helpful for a family function. It was planned at short notice and they were very accommodating. From reading other reviews and conversations with the staff, we will be back for Sunday lunch soon. Can’t wait to try those legendary Yorkshire puddings. Thanks again.

Staff great and welcoming, nice and clean public with a great sized beer garden to the rear, bus service on the door step so u can leave ur car at hone and let ur hair down, off the town centre but its a must visit pub if u enjoy countryside walks;

Apparently there's no demand for real ale. So unfortunately we'll not be making it our new local. Shame, nice pub.

This is a place for locals and those needing a place for hospital or crematorium business. Nice surroundings.

Came for the madness tribute act. From arriving we felt welcome. Decent car park. Not much seating inside due to band. Bar staff were ok and prices very reasonable. Landlord very friendly and spoke to most customers. Loos not very modern but they've done their best in the time they've had since taking over. Great atmosphere on the night. Regulars were friendly even though this was our first visit. Will come back.

Quiet pub north side of Scarborough, dont seem to have a lot of people in but they are good at organising functions i.e christening, parties ect

New owner is doing a good job of bringing this pub back to what it was. Lunches are lovely. Fun nights are good too.

Popped in on a sunday and had a great sunday lunch. Choice of 3 meats and plenty of veg and certainly well worth the money. Def will be back another visit for another sunday lunch.

Next to the hospital and the closest to the Crematorium! No more to say really.

After many changes and owners, the local Duchess pub is now back in business, good beers, fantastic pub food and even flavoured gins! We are local to the pub and decided to try the Sunday carvery once again, we were not disappointed with their quality food, and with a choice of portion sizes too! We will try the weekly menu soon. Good effort to the young chef and their team...... Now is the time to try this pub once again, use it or lose it.

The Duchess is now under new management, doing weddings, christenings and funerals. Food to be served in the near future. Pop in for a drink say hello and meet the new landlord

No puedo comentar sobre la comida, ya que no dan ninguna. Para el almuerzo de hoy, llamados a la 1:45. Anuncio fuera de menú de almuerzo hasta las 2:30. Señora detrás del bar nos dijo que sólo cambiamos todo pero se había "interruptor de todo de vuelta en si nos gusta". Nos agradeció a ella y entonces ella desapareció inmediatamente. Nos sentamos durante al menos 10 minutos y no había nadie detrás de la barra para tomar nuestro pedido de comida o una bebida, servirnos después de que nos dieron harto y a la izquierda. No repitiendo el ejercicio

Aunque estábamos en la duquesa para bocadillos, té/café después de un funeral, encontramos el personal muy amable y eficiente y muy atenta a nuestras necesidades.

Really good atmosphere and the food is excellent . Usually call when we are visiting the hospital and have never ever been disappointed. The landlady is so nice and friendly and we feel really welcome. Have been a few times now and would highly recommend

En general muy bien, la comida razonable. El personal es amable. Las desventajas de nuestra visita fue que a la llegada, la puerta etiquetado el "restaurante" era la habitación equivocada para entrar. que lo precedieron a ir a través de la zona de pub al conservatorio, el pub parecía bastante agradable. La mesa en sí era bastante pegajosa y los cubiertos era un poco sucia. Buen gusto en ) en general de música :7/10.

We had arrived in Scarborough and were looking for somewhere to eat when we came across The Duchess. We arrived just before opening and as the door was unlocked we were greeted by one of the staff. She gave us a table in the conservatory at the back, we ordered our food and it came quickly. I had the wholetail scampi, it came with the chunkiest chips I had ever seen. The food was delicious and the staff were friendly.Definitely recommended.

Arrived here at 7:30pm,food is served only till 8pm.We asked for a table for 8 people and was seated straight away. The food options were good, and each child ate free with a paying adult meal! The burger was huge! My partner asked for steak with mash instead of chips, all meals brought out apart from his (forgot to put mash on) then brought out and stark was raw(not how he asked for it) member of staff took it straight back and felt with it. All children's puddings were taken off the bill to compensate for the mistakes. The creme egg brownie was to die for!! Will visit again when stopping in the area!
