We dropped in after scouring the railway vintage memorabilia shop for a coffee and cakes. A very warm welcome from the staff and from the wonderful coal fire. We enjoyed the railway theme of the cafe and they have various Wensleydale Railway items for sale, such as beer and engraved glass packs. The home baking was excellent and the coffee hot and flavoursome. A good selection of snacks. It's the sort of place where everyone is relaxed and conversations with other customers start. Great to see and hear the trains going by. Seats on the platform if you want to get closer to the action.

Extremely friendly welcome with delicious homemade cakes baked by Mandy (the apple cake was scrumptious). Parking readily available and away from the busy high street. Good washrooms with easy access for visitors. Very helpful and knowledgeable volunteers run the station.

We stayed at the Wensleydale Heifer last night on our way back from Cumbria, As with many times before, we received a very warm welcome by all the staff, a fantastic meal, wonderful night's sleep and excellent breakfast! Always want to return again and again. Big Thanks to you all.

Only ever been into the bar which is proper old school, cash only, limited opening hours but serves quality beers. Big shout out to Kath, who continues to run the place following the death of John. Definitely be back when next in the area with our 2 dogs.

We stopped for an early evening dinner and we were impressed with the food and service. We both had starters - the panko fried black pudding and tempura fried squid. My wife thought the squid was slightly greasy but it looked and tasted good to me. We then had the lamb and pan fried sea trout which were delicious. Overall a very pleasant first visit and we look forward to returning. Thank you Sandpiper team.

Stopped here en route to Northumberland. What a quaint, picturesque town! We called in for a pot of tea and scones and thoroughly enjoyed ourselves. There was a real homely feel to the place and the staff were super friendly. Everything was so reasonably priced too! When we next go on holiday weāll call again if in the area. Highly recommended.

A bit inconsistent with the food. I had a fairly good burger, my wife had a very disappointing giant Yorkshire pudding. For Ā£17 we really expected a home made Yorkshire pudding, this one was obviously shop bought. On the plus side she had some very good creamy garlic mushrooms as a quick lunch snack served with some brown bread, which were so good we decided to back the following day for dinner. The second time she had them they were quite different and served with garlic bread. They weren't quite as good but still enjoyable. Also, we were told the online menu needs updating. It is advertising pizza on the menu which we both fancied, but it was replaced by the giant Yorkshire puddings in the restaurant.

Although the food is adequate it is rather overpriced. Nearly Ā£4 for a fruit scone with jam! There is also a Ā£0.10 charge for an extra plate. It has also came to my attention while visiting that staff use vaping pens where the food is prepared, which not only put me off my food but I also thought it was highly unprofessional. I have also been made aware that staff do not receive their tips and a personal acquaintance did not receive their tips their whole time of working there. I am very unhappy that the tips I left did not go to the people providing the service but instead likely into the managers back pocket.

Sad state of affair. Proprietor was miserable. Booked through booking.com, owner moaned that we hadnāt paid enough for the room. Room was below par considering they want Ā£90 per person. Bed uncomfortable and old, sink leaked water, no heating. Avoid this place!

We only wanted hot drinks on a cold bank holiday Sunday on our way to the Forbidden Corner. Having left another cafe on the opposite side of the road due to a rude waitress we were pleased to find a table in this light, airy cafe. The service was a little slow but it was a busy bank holiday. We had no complaints and other peopleās food looked very appetising.
