The best restaurants in Newsome Kirklees Yorkshire and The Humber

Service was spot on; not too fast, not too slow. Friendly, efficiency but not overbearing. We were served by Lucy and Joe. The brunch menu is served until 4pm, which gives a lot of options for lunch. Menu was fine for a light lunch. A reasonable selection of vegetarian dishes, less so for vegan, but there were some. Lots of meat options and several ways of having chips! Really liked the mocktails!

Pepperoni pizza, tastes ok, not the best but not bad either .. Simple fast street pizza .

Excellent little Pub with a great cask range & the friendliest Landlords in town! As an Aussie originally from Yorkshire, who was just passing through, I thought I’d check out the local pub for a couple. I didn’t expect to be greeted with such enthusiasm, true customer service and friendly faces- the landlords truly encapsulate that Northern friendliness; makes me proud to be a Yorkshireman! As a club and bar operator back home in Melbourne I have a massive appreciation & understanding of true hospitality and customer service and these guys had it all; they go above and beyond. Railway is a beautiful pub with a recently refurbished interior with a bright modern twist, thought provoking quotes on the walls, a couple of TVs playing some sports or whatever takes your fancy, a cosy ‘snook’ with a fire place, darts & live music on the weekends, juke box during the week. The range is exceptional, all the right beers with some proper Yorkshire real ales such as Timothy Taylor’s, a modern and freshly serviced tap system and knowledgable staff passionate for a good pint. The landlords, Chris & Jane, were truly wonderful to me and made me feel very welcomed, as they do for everyone else who comes through their doors. Their pride, passion and personality truely shines through in this quality quaint little pub. You bloody beauty! Thanks for everything guys. The food was delicious, service was great and the atmosphere was warm and relaxing.

Driver gave me a “Free Dessert”, I opened the bag to see it had my drinks and dips.. no dessert in sight talk about teasing🙄🤣

Its not the pub it use to be. Still plenty of choice. But to me I don't think they get through the volume needed to have that many taps on. Had a sierra nevada keg and a jaipur cask. They were OK, but I've had them better in other places

Cosy pub in the heart of town. Friendly bar staff. Kieran was very helpful when I lost my wallet.

I have dropped by for amazing hot chocolate but stayed for breakfast too. I have tried the maple French toast with bacon which was divine. Much better than expect and not too sweet. It was also very filling. I have also tried an orange hot chocolate for the first time and it was also delicious. The staff are really friendly and helpful which made my time here even more enjoyable. Also for the first time, I have tried sitting downstairs which feels cozy and like a perfect spot for spending time together with friends or do some work/studying.

Egg salad was yummy! They have seasonal yummy syrups for their coffee!

Edit December 2023: The venue has been closed down with an emergency health notice. After many years going very regularly, it seems Bar Maroc are having difficulties to remain well stocked and well attended :( Visited twice in recent times and card machine not working, drinks selection very limited, no fizzy drinks (or was advised the non-alcoholic draughts would be pretty flat), ran out of juice and pizzas quickly, no more marinated olives. Not sure if it's the summer hols or students being away but the venue was pretty empty. It's a real shame as this is really a unique institution in Huddersfield. Hopefully only a temporary difficult period for the venue 🙏🏼

This is a really lovely restaurant in Huddersfield with hearty Lebanese inspired food that doesn't leave you disappointed. Always enjoy eating here and trying different items on the menu. Service is prompt and you aren't rushed at all. Definitely worth a visit.

Lovely pre theatre meal for 4 of us. Food was very nice, huge Calzone pizza, very tasty pasta dishes. Meat balls for starter recommended. Service was very friendly, reasonable cost. Went early doors and was quiet hence lower score on atmosphere but imagine a good vibe when busier. Will definitely go again.
