Railway in Kirklees

I have played at The Railway, Berry Brow as a performer a couple times now, once on new year's eve and then once again this month. I had a great time and was treated really nicely by everyone there. Much recommended X

Excellent little Pub with a great cask range & the friendliest Landlords in town! As an Aussie originally from Yorkshire, who was just passing through, I thought I’d check out the local pub for a couple. I didn’t expect to be greeted with such enthusiasm, true customer service and friendly faces- the landlords truly encapsulate that Northern friendliness; makes me proud to be a Yorkshireman! As a club and bar operator back home in Melbourne I have a massive appreciation & understanding of true hospitality and customer service and these guys had it all; they go above and beyond. Railway is a beautiful pub with a recently refurbished interior with a bright modern twist, thought provoking quotes on the walls, a couple of TVs playing some sports or whatever takes your fancy, a cosy ‘snook’ with a fire place, darts & live music on the weekends, juke box during the week. The range is exceptional, all the right beers with some proper Yorkshire real ales such as Timothy Taylor’s, a modern and freshly serviced tap system and knowledgable staff passionate for a good pint. The landlords, Chris & Jane, were truly wonderful to me and made me feel very welcomed, as they do for everyone else who comes through their doors. Their pride, passion and personality truely shines through in this quality quaint little pub. You bloody beauty! Thanks for everything guys. Nice place close to the train station in Berry Brow. 2 real ales were available on my visit, the Titanic - iceberg was in great condition 👍. A major football match was being watched on large screens, so the pub was bustling. I would definatly visit again and recommend.

A beautiful pub with a great atmosphere. Staff are very friendly and welcoming and the service was excellent. Prices are competitive too. The pub is beautifully decorated.

Visited Railway 25/6/2023 (PM) with My Brother Nigel who lives locally [Unfortunately he is profoundly Deaf & now has a Terminal illness 🤒]. The Landlady & her Husband have created a Wonderful Community Hub based around this Pub second to none. The Landlady is welcoming & friendly and is a Very loyal Friend to my Brother. The Pub is Immaculate & Ale superb and reasonably priced, and the Local Folks look out for each other!. Not just a Pub, Home from Home!. Will I go back OH YES!!. :)

Quiet night out with friends enjoy the atmosphere of railway nice staff. Played pool got beat but hey ho.

Great pub and ales .. very clean and cosy .. log fire . Big screen sport .. juke box and beautiful beer garden with far reaching views over the valley . Selina and the bar staff very friendly and knowledgable about the real ales . . Now opened next door is the “buffet carte” .. .. a log cabin open from 4 pm to 8.30 pm serving superb home cooked British food for takeaway . From shepherds pie lasagnes , to loaded fries and burgers ( takeaway Sunday lunches available from 2pm .. full works £6.50 !! ) . Order your food and have a pint . Wayne is an amazing chef . Or he’ll have it ready for you when you lea e the pub . Great value for money and such tasty food ! Beats every thing else hands down .

6 ales on mostly low gravity but served in good nick, catch the bus to the bottom of railway st more choice of buses.
