Amaro Italian Restaurant & Bar in Kirklees

Lovely pre theatre meal for 4 of us. Food was very nice, huge Calzone pizza, very tasty pasta dishes. Meat balls for starter recommended. Service was very friendly, reasonable cost. Went early doors and was quiet hence lower score on atmosphere but imagine a good vibe when busier. Will definitely go again.

Service lacked lustre, and it was pretty evident that at 2130, they wanted to go home. When I went to the toilet, all the lights had been switched off upstairs. We have been here many times and were one of their first customers. I'm hoping the owner is on holiday, but I worry that if this is the staff's way of running the restaurant while he's away, things will suffer.

Overall service delivery was very satisfactory however, despite it being tasty, the Spaghetti Cabanara could be less oily.

The service was second to none. Very personable staff, serving.excellent food. Very tasty & excellent value. A lovely relaxing atmosphere. Highly recommended. We will be returning in the not too distant future.

Amaro is one of them restaurant's where if you have a taste for a specific dish, it hits the spot every time. Me and the wife will have a meal here every few weeks. The staff are great, good pricing and some fantastic wines if that's you're thing. Thumbs up from us.

Well seasoned and authentic. Some water and oil would have been nice on the table but overall good value and worth visiting 👌.

Food was extremely bland and portion size was shocking for the price. Found it a bit odd the waiter was drinking shots and other alcoholic drinks from are table.

Amazing place with great food but most of all- exceptional service from start to finish, especially considering the circumstances! I hope the new owner has the most success with Amaro! Please do visit.

Overall, it was a good experience. Good quality food ( I don't have a photo of the food here) and the staff were all friendly. Also, the sitting area and generally the environment was good. However, I thought the prices were higher than where it should be. But overall, I think it was a nice place to eat.

Couldn't fault this place, great food, great price, great atmosphere and engaging staff. I speak Italian and it's always encouraging when the staff talk with you and appreciate the effort i have made which they did at Amaro's. Along with everything else that made the night for me. No hesitation in giving cinque stelle.

Defo, the best Italian restaurant that we've ever been to, this evening. I went in earlier this afternoon, with no customers (just before they opened at 4pm).Even with no customers, just got a good feeling about the ambience of the venue. This most certainly didn't disappoint. We all chose different main meals, & all were superb. Fab quality food, & such good value for money. All the staff are attentive, so great credit goes towards Marco Biagio & all his team. 🇮🇹 🍽 🍷 We will defo be back if in the Huddersfield area, in the future! 👍

Absolutely wonderful! We happened to stop by the area and were instantly lured into this restaurant by its cosy vibes, turns out our intuition was right! We ordered the specials of the day- Paella and back of lamb. The lamb was so succulent and tender, matched so well with the sauce and GOD the paella was magnificent, truly scrumptious 🤌🏻 The rice absorbed all the essences of the seafood, chicken and tomatoes and every single bite was a delight. Suffice to say we licked the plate clean, definitely one of the best paellas I've had in my life! And this is coming from a well-travelled person who is a picky eater and tries paella all over the world! I hope this becomes their regular menu because I am definitely coming back with a more empty stomach (I regret having eaten too many snacks during our drive). Not to mention the owner, chef and staff in general were all so friendly and kindly explained every dish and their recommendations. The prices are very reasonable too, you can't have food of this quality at this price in London or other big cities, more people ought to try this lovely place if they ever stop by! I saw that they have live music nights advertised too, so I can imagine it would be a nice date night if you bring your s/o to one of these dinner events🥰

Our first visit and loved it. Food was really great and well priced. We will definitely be back as our daughter is just starting university. We had a 2 year old with us and her kids meal was proper cooked food not cheap stuff you usually get in some places.

The staff and food are amazing, I came with a Italian and she said the food was incredible , the main chef and all the staff was so friendly and inviting , the tirumisu dessert was delicious! Thanks again and I highly recommend this lovely little gem 👍

Lovely local Italian restaurant. Decent prices and all the starters & mains we had were delicious. Very friendly & outgoing staff.

Also great food and reasonably priced, the host is always welcoming and nothing is to much trouble. Been numerous times and never had a complaint. We had the early bird and no complaint the portion size was the same as the al a carte. Kids are also made a fuss of too

Mamma Mia fantastico! Such an amazing place from walking in and throughout the whole meal. Beginning you are brought fresh bread & olives. To start I had the special fresh scallops, followed by another special a whole sea bream stuffed with herbs and lemon cooked to perfection. It came with boiled potatoes cooked in an Italian tomato sauce to which packs flavour with every mouthful. However it doesn’t take away the key attention to the sea bream which was flaky and falls off the bones having being left fully cooked. Finally with some room somehow the dark chocolate covered profiteroles with cream and raspberries which a-complimented the overall meal. The staff know their wines and drinks as to which matches with what you are wishing to eat and are all willing to explain the specials which are a must try. This place was well over due and very much a what shall we try next knowing each dish is as tasty as the next one! Thoroughly impressed and well worth the money as the food sets one of the highest standards I’ve eaten in the world. For those who understand food the price was nowhere near what it could’ve been this including drinks, the portion sizes, attention to detail in service & food. I can’t thank the staff enough as they are passionate about their service as the food; it shows and hope others wish to indulge in such experiences & meals alike. Thank you and will be there again soon.

A traditional Italian trattoria type restaurant. The welcome is warm, and the service efficient and friendly. The time left between courses was good, we never felt rushed. The food was excellent. Melon and Parma Ham were juicy and salty, perfect. The Prawn Cocktail was superb. Lovely prawns that were sweet, with a great Marie Rose Sauce. Then Chicken Amalfi and Chicken topped with ham and Pecorino cheese for main courses, and both were really tasty. Cheesecake for dessert. Very rich, very sweet, but lovely. All for £80 including drinks. Spot on!

Our first visit here tonight, and certainly not the last! What a wonderful experience from start to finish. The service was impeccable from walking through the door, until leaving at the end of our beautiful meal . The menu was extensive and varied, the food and drink arrived promptly and with care and a smile. Everything we ate was an absolute divine mouthful, so beautiful. We will certainly be dining here again, and wouldn't hesitate to recommend this lovely restaurant... thank you to all concerned .

This was my second visit in the past month - before that I hadn't considered it as a place to eat despite passing it regularly but the food is gorgeous and the owner/manager is very attentive but not in an interfering way. He is happy to discuss the food and recommend appropriate food for specific dietary requirements. The early bird special is very good value for money. Will go again.

Went there with me mom for dinner tonight and it was absolutely amazing The cold starters were very fresh and rich in flavour, the cooking on that steak was on point, the chicken venucio was very good aswell The waiter was very friendly and gave excellent service and even offered free shots Overall great experience, would definitely recommend this place and would definitely come back for another Italian delightful experience

Took my girlfriend for valentines dinner, very disappointing to say the least. Next to no service at all didn’t ask if we wanted drinks etc basically ignored the whole evening. I ordered the steak which was rare when I asked for well done the peas on my plate were old. It was a set menu so we ordered all 3 courses when we arrived and only to watch someone who arrived after us have the dessert we ordered before them then for the staff to come tell us they’ve run out of what we ordered absolute joke really.

Such a beautiful restaurant, I don’t write reviews often but the authentic food and service was amazing and would highly recommend. Italian owned family business and felt much nicer than a chain like zizzis. Great prices too.

This is one of the few quality restaurants in Huddersfield if you're tired of Middle Eastern and Chinese food. We have been to this restaurant several times and we especially like the mushroom dishes. It can be busy sometimes, but the manager here is so friendly. He remembers not only our faces, but our eating habits, and even treat us a drink after our meal. I took these pictures with my camera because I love this restaurant so much!

Recently refurbished and based in the heart of Huddersfield Amaro has now become our default Italian. A great selection of pasta, pizza and drinks. Also a small kids menu with entertainingly named "Peppa pig pizza" Booking is not usually required unless it's a busy night - do book ahead if you have a big party.

Absolutely amazing customer service went here anniversary and the food was phenomenal the owners are very Friendly and really nice out of the area but whenever I'm back I'm 100% going there again would recommend to anyone it's now my favourite restaurant

Really nice place. Very clear and inviting when entering. Staff are lovely and friendly - food was fantastic. We made a bit of a mistake with our food presuming a sauce would be with the pollo Amalfi, It did not however it came with a nice serving of mayonnaise. Will have to try the pasta dishes next visit Worth a try - read the menu better than we did

I have been this re-opened italian restaurant many time since it’s opening day. The manager here is nice and dishes were good as well as authentic representative. However, today I must give one star on the review. I haven’t book in advance as I just addicted for T bone which was special dish recently. Today, here has live music and crowded with large party. All looks fine. But my starter were brought by a young gentleman, he just put my order directly in front of my and the plate covers fork and knife plus tissue. Leaves the dish name and turn around. This kind of serving way I was never experienced before. Crowd busy cannot be the excuse for rude serving quality. Hoping this can raise the concern of management and make proper improve. I will definitely return for what I like. But wanting to see better Aroma.

Excellent ambiance, staff, food delicious... Our first proper date, couldnt have been better.

This is a lovely restaurant. Easily as good, it not better, than 2 other v popular Italian restaurants in Huddersfield which shall remain nameless (oh OK then, Da Sandro's and grappollos). Not cheap, but quality of food and drink is lovely. Good portions, friendly staff, lovely Limoncello. We'll definitely be back.

We a wonderful time at the Robbie Williams tribute meal and again to celebrate our Mama's 93rd birthday! Fabulous service and attention and amazing food at this lovely restaurant! Recommended!

Went for my wife's birthday. Service was a little slow but our party of 10 all enjoyed there food. Only complaint be careful if you have lobster ravioli. You will still be hungry as the portions were rather small

Greeted when we arrived, food came quickly because it was quiet. The food was delicious, all children were given complimentary sweets. The only criticism I had was that we were not acknowledged when we left.
