The best restaurants in Claro Harrogate Yorkshire and The Humber

We were staying at Nidd hall and fancied a walk and a pint somewhere different. So we wandered down to the malt Shovel. It's about 2 miles away. Nice walk down the country lanes, although there is some traffic but not too much. We arrived and were warmly greeted by the lady behind the bar. We both got a pint of best and sat in the beer garden. Only had time for one as we were meeting more friends at Nidd so we had to get back. Lovely traditional pub with a nice looking menu. We will be back and next time we'll have lunch. Try it out it's a cracking little pub. Thanks for the warm welcome.

Advertised as keeping faithful to what made The Tiger so popular when it reopened, same chef etc, but sadly it was more like the new owners previous Goldsborough pub but in a new location. OK, but just not as good. Steak and Ale Pie especially was disappointing as were the accompanying vegetables. A few chips in a little metal basket is never what you want to see!

Really friendly staff and a good meal. Lots of gluten free options on the menu. Had a tasty roast and it was not too expensive. Good cocktail options. Busy, so would suggest booking in advance. Would definitely eat here again.

Good helpful staff. A bit run down

My wife had a brilliant Sunday lunch and I enjoyed an amazing beef pie. Full of lush filling plus superlight pastry.

Nice little bar and cafe with a good choice of drinks but limited food choices. Pretty sure the food is reheated from frozen - fine if you can't be bothered to cook for yourself but nothing special. Staff were friendly.

Great little find just off the A1 towards York, we stopped for breakfast. Dairy and gluten-free accommodating, dog friendly as the tables outside undercover. Fantastic food great parking and all Cooke from fresh is brilliant. Not sure why people are rating four stars on here this is definitely a five star cafe

Nice place, friendly staff. Good atmosphere. Lunch was lovely. Just wish they had a few more choices for sandwiches, as you sometimes don't require a main meal at lunch time, and the sandwich menu is very limited. But all in all a great visit.

We didn't stay at the Blue Bell but the dining rooms were beautifully decorated, creating a welcoming atmosphere.

Lovely warm welcome and exceptional service from friendly staff, nothing too much trouble for two weary walkers. Thank you for making our short stop so memorable. Definitely worth a visit, we will be back.

Handy for a cuppa after work or during a shop. The cafe is situated in the simply food store and it’s clients are generally local. Good service and bright and airy cafe. Huge windows mean it gets very hot in sunny weather. No outside seating.

Disappointing couple of visits recently, poor ambiance, no one seems to be in charge or responsible. High prices should be supported by top service. Very quiet, beautiful place, shame
