We ate here last week again and it was superb. We went off the A La Carte Menu but there is an alternative Early Bird Evening Menu up to 6:30pm. Starters were Prawn Cocktail (small prawns) and Mussels, mains were Steak Pie and Chips and Pan Fried Chicken Breast with Veg. The pie was superb and my wife said it’s the best she’s ever had - an award winner as it’s now served as an individual pie (instead of a tray bake previously), full of tender steak and great gravy, with fabulous pastry. My chicken was outstanding, very tasty, moist and complimented by the gravy , mash and glazed veg. Very good service - give it a go, you won’t be disappointed 👍

Best pub food we’ve tasted - highly recommend! Fabulous quality food at such a reasonable price - we both just had to have dessert and didn’t regret it. Attentive and considerate service - nothing was too much trouble.

We try to make it over to the Guy Fawkes at least twice a year from Cumbria It is top notch in every way Service, quality, the wine selection I could not rate this establishment any higher. One of our favourite places to eat, a true gastropub, the term is somewhat overused but not here. Staff are always friendly and attentive. Food is excellent. Early bird is great value

From walking through the door we felt welcome, shown to our table drinks orders taken and menus supplied, a good selection of food available, but not a ridiculous number of dishes which always worries me. Starters “ham hock terine” and “tempura king prawns” were very tasty! Mains of tray baked style Steak pie, thrice cooked chips, and a large selection of veggies with a fantastic rich dark gravy were so comforting!! Black Sheep ale for me and a house Sav’ blanc for the wife. The place was busy but we were never left waiting. Excellent, would recommend 👍

The food was exceptionally good quality as was the service. And clearly we weren't alone given that the place was full. The ratings this place is given does not do it justice. Definitely a place to go for a special treat.

Had an excellent two course meal. Starter risotto, main hole in the toad with veg. Service was fantastic, good pint of black sheep ( alright two pints )

Visited on Sunday, it was fully booked but the waiter tried his best to squeeze us in and he did! Looked at the menu and thought it seemed a bit pricey, ordered our food, and once it arrived it was worth every penny! Absolutely delicious! Can't wait to visit again, some of the best food in yorkshire

We have wanted to visit for a while and booked for Sunday lunch and we were not disappointed. We both honestly think it's the best Sunday lunch we have ever had. We had the beef sirloin and the roast pork with crackling. The meal is served with a separate servings of veggies, mash, roasts and make sure you order the cauliflower cheese as an extra! Dessert was also fantastic, I had the jam Roly poly, faultless. Would highly recommend.

Very nice pub, nice decor and gas a good atmosphere. Good hand pumped beers to enjoy by an open fire. Unfortunately I didn't get to sample the food as the day we had intended eating there they didn't do food. Maybe some other time.

Some of the tastiest food I have had in a long while. Good portion sizes and reasonably priced. Friendly and attentive staff. Place itself has lovely character and charm. Dog friendly in bar area (not restaurant). Busy so would recommend booking in advanced

Excellent. Went with friends for lunch. Starter of the pate, then 3 of us went for the lamb, it was incredible, faultless. Very reasonably priced for the standard. The service was fab, attentive without being overbearing. Lovely atmosphere. Came back a few weeks later for my mums birthday with some other friends, again, excellent. Went for the fillet steak, once again very good.

Love a village pub that you can talk to the locals it has a warm and friendly atmosphere and the staff are extremely helpful 👍 as well. As an added bonus the food 😋 and drink 🍸 was unbelievable 👌 and that's why they deserve a 5 🌟.

We had a lovely time last night in the long room. The waiters were speedy, very friendly and the food was excellent.The steak pie was great . Full of lean meat and no fat.! As Arni Swartzenager said " Ill be back! " Thank you for a lovely festive evening. Tell the waiter i discussed port with to buy 2011, 2016 and 2017 vintage port but it must be Taylors which commands 20% more.! A very happy Christmas to you.

This was without doubt the best service we’ve had in 60 years! We travel abroad extensively but the waiters here are outstanding. The food was excellent too

Went for lunch with a friend - it was exceptional- I can’t wait to go back! We shared the bread starter which was very good, I had the Christmas dinner which was delicious, my friend had the lamb from the fixed menu which she said was also excellent and we shared the chocolate orange Eton mess which was fab! Oh it is cosy and the staff were great too!

My partner and I just had a spontaneous Sunday evening meal and were blown away by how good the food was. I had the lamb shank with extra veg followed by a chocolate brownie (it was a lot of food but sooo good!). It has to be the best roast I’ve ever had! Lovely pub and very friendly and attentive staff. I missed out on a trip to Guy Fawkes Arms some months ago but my team at work had been raving about it ever since. So I was pleased finally to be able to go on this occasion. The steak and ale pie is superb - a proper pie (not a casserole with pastry lid) with thick chunks of steak, chunky chips and mixed veg, along with a superlative gravy. The whole was so good, in fact, that I'd be afraid to try anything else in case it isn't as good! At £18.50 it's also very reasonably priced. The pub on the whole has a nice warming atmosphere. The acoustics in the dining area could make it difficult for some to hear everyone on their table, especially if there's another group in close proximity. The car park is a bit on the tight side but manageable. So don't let these trifles stop you from giving this excellent place a try.

We stopped at the Knaresborough caravan and Motorhome Club site nearby, busy little pub for a small village, excellent food all home cooked! Would recommend

If you want great food with brilliant service then look no further. Best steak and ale pie ever!! The service from walking into the pub and leaving was fantastic. Great to see the bar area is dog friendly and our daschund loved it. We had such a good time we have booked again in the next few days, great end to our holiday.

If you are in the area you, have to call in here; if you are thinking of eating here I would advise booking first.

Good food, friendly staff. Worth a visit

The service was welcoming, friendly and the right amount of attentive. The food was absolutely amazing, black pudding hash balls and liver pate starters to share. Only slight criticism was could have done with more bread for the pate. We then had a Full Faulkes Sunday Lunch each and it was divine. I can thoroughly recommend eating here as a group,for an intimate date night or as just a treat. You won't be disappointed.

What a great pub/restaurant. Lovely relaxing atmosphere with log fire. Friendly staff, which were eager to help. I personally did try the food, but it looked top-notch from what I could see. I will definitely be back.

A true hidden gem! I came with my parents on Friday night and it was so good we had to rebook for the Saturday too. Fantastic food, excellent service and a cosy atmosphere - what more could you ask for from a country pub? Passion shines through every aspect of this beautiful pub, from the roaring fire to the cheerful and friendly staff The Guy Fawkes has immediately become a new favourite. The food is first rate and the welcome is as warm as the fire crackling merrily in the hearth. We would particularly like to mention Fabio who made us feel like we were among longtime friends, serving us with efficiency and enthusiasm unmatched anywhere. The food was exceptionally well cooked and presented and the local ales were only outstripped by the wine selection. HIGHLY recommended the Guy Fawkes but be sure to book as it's reputation ensures a quickly filled reservation book.

Had a lovely time celebrating my birthday at the guy fawkes arms last Friday with my friends! Our server Fabio was outstanding and exceeded all our expectations with his attentive and friendly service. Not only that but the food & cocktails were incredible and I couldn’t have asked for a better place to celebrate, will be back again!

Stopped off at this place on our way to Harrogate. We were greeted by 2 staff that were both friendly and welcoming. Nice place inside with an open fire in the bar area, which was also dog friendy. We were seated in the restaurant area and there was a good atmosphere. There were 2 menus and we ate off a very reasonable lunch time menu. 2 courses for £20. Food was delicious.

I go to the Guy Fawkes for drinks and meals regularly and the food and service is second to none. A special mention for Tim who is always professional friendly and attentive 5 star service

I’m a regular at this establishment and can only sing the praises of the team there. Professional and friendly. Heading up on that score is Tim. Attentive and knowledgeable as well polite and charming.

This restaurant truly offers the best food for miles around. The staff are welcoming, and the ambiance of the building is just as impressive as the food itself. What they serve here is unmatched—there’s nothing nearby, not even in Knaresborough town centre, that compares. It's surprising how the food scene in such a well-off area like Knaresborough can be so mediocre, making this place a real standout Well done everyone involved.

Food excellent, the lamb delicious and steak pie full of delicious beef. The wine Malbec nice and the New Zealand white delicious. The only negative was Tim , we ordered our starter after being told our wait for the lamb would be 25min. That was a big problem to him and was quite abrupt. Wanting a decision immediately of choice of starter. He delivered the black pudding starter and not a word was spoken it was just put down on the table. He was displaying arrogance and customer inconvenience . We did love the food and the wine and had no complaints other than Tim's service. Even to the point of not having a dessert as it would have inconvenienced him. Thanks we did enjoy the food but couldn't recommend and definitely wouldn't return.

We visited today for a late lunch and arrived nearly 20 minutes after the lunch service had ended, not realising there was a split day schedule. Despite this, the staff kindly seated us and offered a selection from the menu. We ordered the steak pie and chicken pie, both of which were delicious and served quickly with fresh chips and vegetables. The staff were all friendly and accommodating and the atmosphere lovely. We would gladly pay double for the quality of the food we received. As locals, we will definitely return. Thank you!

Just visited for a late Sunday lunch. We booked online yesterday and it was a good job we did because the Guy Fawkes is very popular. Great food served by friendly and helpful staff in a lovely village setting. Highly recommended.

The best Sunday lunch amazing food so the chef Adam fantastic. All the staff so professional, efficient, hard working and friendly especially John, fabritzio, Tim & Christine. The welcome at the pub restaurant so warm and friendly, drinks served promptly and again the food just 5 star quality and so plentiful that we could not eat a desert. Beef cooked to perfection and my husband had the pork and was given plenty of crackling. Good variety vegetables, such a light Yorkshire pudding & my favourite mash as well as roast potatoes, lastly the gravy just so rich. Overall great and will be going back.

Absolutely fantastic ! 2nd time here in last few months, as our son lives locally, and the Food & Service is fabulous. Parking on a busy Sunday can be tricky, but it’s worth it. We ate at Tommy Bank’s Abbey Inn recently, and the Sunday Lunch here is hands down better, and a damn site less expensive too. Deserts were beaut too 👌

Arranged to have my Mother in Law's 80th birthday meal here. It was outstanding. The service, the food, all fantastic and she had a lovely time. Thanks to all the staff for looking after us so well (we were a large group of 17). We will be back

Food was first class as was service. Paid slightly more than usual pub grub but standard was outstanding, well worth it. Dog friendly too. We would come back to the area just so we could visit the Guy Fawkes Arms again.

Been previously and had medallion steak! Amazing, this time not, previously had steak pie! Amazing, this time not! Not sure if there is a change in chef but the gravy was pure bovril tasting which is not to my taste which resulted in our weekend away being cut short! Which was very disappointing especially as it was my husbands birthday. I am hoping next time I can give 5 stars

We visited in July 2024 as we were staying at the CAMC caravan site. The pub is only a 10 minute walk away. The experience was superb, from really friendly welcome to the food. We have a dog, so we booked in advance. There is a separate area for dogs, so I'd recommend this. The food was absolutely delicious, and I genuinely can't recommend this place highly enough. I'd say the prices are probably about average for the area, but in my opinion, well worth it.

Excellent! Brilliant value, the Early Bird Meal Deal which is on offer for diners between 18.00 and 18.45 was perfect. The food was delicious and the staff friendly, but discreet and always on hand. The food was home cooked and really enjoyable. Fresh and tasty. Clearly the chef and kitchen team have been given freedom and really do excell. I would rate this pub very highly, just make sure you book. The parking is a little snug, so be aware, but this is a small village with narrow roads.

Great food great service, Sunday lunch sublime. We like to get to the Harrogate/ Knaresborough area at least once a year and before coming this time we ‘googled’ for a decent place to get a Sunday lunch. Top result was the Fawkes Arms and well deserved also, however, beware of car parking - it is a little tight but that aside book and enjoy 👍

Well, what a wonderful dinner. From the moment we walked in, I felt at home. The seats were comfortable, and the welcome was warm. Then the food came, man, this place is a little gem. The food was fabulous 👌. Couldn't recommend it enough, try it !!

Well you need to eat here if you are a fan of great food and equally good beer. Absolutely nothing to fault. Polite professional staff and such fantastic reasonably priced food

We visited the Guy Fawkes at 5.30 for a couple of drinks and meals with our dog. On arrival we were surprised how busy it was and didn’t think we would be able to get a table, however the young lady who greeted us soon found one for us which wasn’t reserved until later in the evening. The ales my husband had and the lager I had were very well kept, served by very friendly staff. The food was absolutely delicious, I had the steak pie which was crammed with tender beef, my husband halibut which was lovely and fresh, both of which were plentiful and served by very efficient staff. During the time we were sat there the stream of customers was constant and I am not surprised, we thoroughly enjoyed our visit and will certainly return when back in the area. The friendly professionalism of all of the staff made the visit a pleasure, the pub is lovely and the food delicious what more could one ask for, definitely high on our recommendations.

Sunday lunch menu - wide range of choices. We had sirloin, steak pie, and fish….and they were excellent. It is comfort food but prepared and served with a bit of skill….not just thrown together like most modern day gastro-pubs do. Well worth a visit

We were staying nearby for the weekend and visited for Friday evening supper and then returned for Sunday lunch, it was that good! Super friendly team, outstanding food and a really lovely country pub atmosphere. Shame we don't live around the corner and could visit every week. Dog friendly too which was great for us. Best food we've had in ages.

When in the area always have sunday lunch for a treat, be aware parking can be an issue but well worth the hassle and good behaved dog friendly too what more can you ask for, one of my top restaurants not said lightly!!!
