Woodlands kindly allowed us to stay overnight in our motorhome. The pub was recently refurbished and has a bright fresh feel to it. Staff were very friendly and helpful and gave us directions to walk into Harrogate centre. This was straightforward and only took about 25 minutes (bus outside though). I enjoyed chicken tikka and my wifes pizza was cooked to perfection. Food was very good value. They had an excellent range of beers and lagers. A very nice visit for us. Thank you.

I had a thoroughly disappointing experience at The Woodlands Pub in Harrogate. The staff displayed shocking rudeness, and to top it off, they managed to bring me the wrong meal, serving a meat version of a vegetarian dish. Not only was the mix-up careless, but the meat version was completely different from what I ordered. Their apology was barely audible, and they made zero effort to rectify the mistake. As for the food itself, it was clearly nuked in a microwave, lacking any semblance of taste and barely reaching lukewarm temperatures. Avoid this establishment if you value decent service and palatable meals.

So excited, our local is under new management and a £300k makeover. Sadly no new chef but hey it's got to be better, 🤔 Decided to check it out before revisiting for a meal. First impression, they have done a great job, lovely decor and comfortable. Sadly an extra TV showing football so I have to turn my back to it. Perused the menu and spotted an old favourite steak and chips, great and it comes with - wait for it HALF a tomato!! Always wondered what they did with the other half?? 🤔😂. Will I go back, not sure due to the grim previous reviews. Find a new chef and produce non microwaved food.

I sincerely hope they improve as I used to enjoy family and friend meals here. We booked a table for 6:30pm on a Thursday night, arrived early at 6:20pm to be told we would have to wait 20 mins before we could even order....had a couple of drinks, waited 40 mins before I returned to the bar to ask if we could order, only to be told we couldn't order any food (they didn't realise we had already been waiting 40 mins). When I then asked a member of the Bar staff how long it would take for the food to be ready, if we ordered, he told me that he '....didn't know because that wasn't his area and they were in a mess...'. No apologies whatsoever so we left and went to the Starbeck Tandoori where we had a fabulous meal, as usual. Come on Woodlands Hotel, get your act together....we don't want another Harrogate Pub to fail and disappear.

After a recent refurbishment this place has a very slightly different look inside, more open plan with some modern furniture, a refreshed food menu, a new paint job outside, but a similar vibe as before. Food was good, drink options satisfactory (cask ale in good condition) and service was pleasant and prompt. A decent venue for a family gathering

Went in to see what had changed after re-opening and not impressed really. I think the 300K must have been spent on taking all the old foisty junk out rather than investing on ways to improve its appeal. At least the outside now looks better after painting. More open plan than before so at least it doesn`t feel as cluttered. Only two ales on handpump which were Theakstons Best and Landlord. I chose the Landlord which promptly came out incredibly fizzy and failed to clear or settle so bypassed that. Surely they could have come up with more cask ales to try and get into the market that Harrogate Brewing Co have sewn up for Hookstone.? Big widescreen TVs now installed for footy/sports but not many in watching, mainly families trying out the sunday dinner. Only two front of house staff visible trying to do every single job between them including serving food and at the bar so seemed a bit frantic. Even allowing for a cooling off period can`t see it taking off more than it was before and they`ll never get away from the access problem for car drivers, a nightmare to go right when leaving...

Just back from having Sunday lunch here on 3rd March. This was a regular place for us to eat & we were looking forward to a Sunday roast, and to see the new refurbished pub. This is where it goes downhill. We were told they weren't doing Sunday roasts!! So we ordered half roast Chicken/Chips & Fish & Chips £28.68 with two non alcohol drinks!! Looking around although it had been painted, one wall knocked down, a new pool table, I couldn't see where a £300k refurbishment had been spent. I did notice a group if three customers leave their food and walk out dissapointed. We waited an hour for our food & it wasn't busy. When our food came out my fish was basically batter with very little fish inside, half a dozen incinerated chips, the Chicken was very dry, with incinerated chips. None of the staff checked if our food was OK or not. One of the managers Mr Caunt was sat for the majority of the time chatting. This used to be a regular favourite pub to have lunch, not anymore. They ask for payment first be warned. Won't be back Wouldnt Recommend!!

As its new Management I would have thought they would have asked oversaw what the food was like that was coming out of the kitchen!! This used to be our regular haunt for food. Called in today as we knew it had reopened, but like I doubt we'll be back. No friendly welcome as previously, the menu was uninspiring to say the least. We didn't bother staying, even just for a drink. The pub has lost its friendly, homely, relaxing vibe completely.

A very welcome addition after a major refurbishment to Harrogates pub food. Very nicely decorated inside now. Varied menu avalible that ie generic and "chain pub" but lots on offer. I had the cheese and bacon burger which was lovely. Thick burger well cooked. Onion rings had a slightly odd taste like cooked in oil that had been used for other things. Cider apple crumble was a lovely tasty but soggy as clearly microwaved which was a shame but the taste saved it. Will definitely return as its a good menu with very fair prices. Don't be expecting homemade food and at the prices you shouldn't be. Staff were all lovely and friendly so no qualms there at all. Worth a visit for sure for a cheap and cheerful meal.

Unwelcoming, my husband had to go to hospital in his work clothes as he fell, broken arm, went in for a drink whilst waiting for a lift home and was met quite rudely like he was some sort of alien kind because he has tattoos and was in work clothes. He explained to the member of staff what had happened and he’d been rushed to a&e from work which is why he was dressed the way he was but afterwards thought he really shouldn’t have needed to, money is money and hard workers who might not be dressed to your standard deserve and have the right to be welcomed and treated like any other person. Newly refurbished needs to be newly having staff training on not being so judgemental and treat everyone the same because anyone’s money is as good as the nexts

Went for Sunday lunch with my son and 2 grandchildren, a good choice of menu plus traditional Sunday dinner. Comfortable clean pub with a good extensive menu. What I found impressive was a small plate choice from the menu, This is superb for children who want more than a kids meal but yet normal menu is always too much. A small plate is just the right amount and same for older people too. Everything we had was nicely cooked

I popped into the Woodlands Bar and Grill on 23 January 2023. It was not busy as it was Monday evening. When entering the premises it was noted that there was no one at the bar, but I did notice a member of staff talking to a couple of people, I waited patiently at the bar, the member of staff knew I was waiting, but totally ignored me. Eventually, she came over and I asked it the Bar was dog friendly. I was shocked by the blunt arrogant and rude response. NO!!! Nothing else, no sorry but we don’t or any other explanation. It was as if I was disturbing her quiet night. In fact that could be the reason it was so quiet, Rude staff. The Woodlands Bar and Grill is my local pub, as I live just round the corner on Hookstone Drive, but I will not be using it or recommending it to any of my friends or colleagues. In this cost of living crisis, Hospitality complain how hard it is, with poor customer service I’m not surprised. Poor!!!

We thoroughly enjoyed visiting this pub on a cold November evening. Warm welcome as we went in, amazing menu to suit all tastes and dishes highlighted on boards around the pub. Service was excellent with all staff happy to advise and amend orders to suit our tastes and level of appetite. although situated at the side of the main road with 4-way traffic lights access was good and exit was very easy due to the large Keep Clear box on the road. There are also themed nights but the full menu seems to be always available.

I drive past this pub quite a few times, always see that they advertise they do sunday dinners- finally got round to booking and going to have one.. I rang and booked, when i turned up none of the staff were even aware of my booking!! Me and my partner both ordered a Pepsi each, when it arrived it just tasted like fizzy water…. so my partner mentioned it to on of the members of staff who then said she would get us a fresh Pepsi each, I think the tap had just ran out of the flavour and it needed changing however, when the woman was getting us a new one- another staff member came up to us and asked what was wrong, we told her that it didn’t taste right… she proceeded to take my glass of pepsi and TAKE A DRINK out of it… after I had already had a sip.. rudely told us it taste fine and nothing was wrong with it.. we got another glass each and it still tasted just like fizzy water, didn’t say anything else as i didn’t want the woman being rude to us again. After this, we heard one of the staff members complaining about us and the whole pepsi situation. We then got our food, i had a chicken dinner and my partner had a beef dinner… where so i even start! HORRIBLE.. it tasted like the chicken and beef had been cooked, frozen and defrosted and warmed up again, presentation was awful and so was the taste!! Not to mention how RUDE the staff members were… £35 down the drain. NEVER EVER again will i be eating at this place. Infested with flys, no matter where you were sat, flys constantly coming and landing on our plates.

While it's not a place I would personally go out of my way to visit, the Woodlands has the type of cosy, welcoming atmosphere normally associated with a country village pub. In actual fact, it's situated on a busy junction, opposite a garage and car wash and around half a mile from the nearest sheep. The ground floor rooms have been knocked together to form a single space with a long bar, broken into sections by chimneys. A log fire is usually burning in at least one of these and about half of the space is available for dining. The use of space is very clever, allowing it to accommodate groups of various sizes with some degree of privacy. Outside, there are two covered areas for Al fresco drinking and smoking. One of these is quite close to the road, but the other is shielded from it by the pub buildings. Draught beers are limited; John Smith's and a guest ale, two lagers and maybe a cider or Irish stout. It's the way pubs were done before the onslaught of 'craft beer'. Traditional pub food can be ordered from the bar and looks very eatable. It's mostly fish, steak, gammon or pie with chips and a choice of veg or salad, but they also do curry nights. It's family friendly and children are often among the diners.

Ok place to stay, but lots of room for improvement!! We had a luxury room as all the self catering apartments were gone. The room was nice, but calling it luxury was a bit far fetched. The toilet seat was askew and very uncomfortable. The tea, coffee, milk and cups weren't replaced and after asking if it could be replaced, I was told I would have to ask if I wanted it replacing, but it wasn't easy to find someone to ask. The bins weren't emptied for the entire holiday, and we were told we had to empty our own bins, but no replacement bags given so we had to use our bags for life. The hand soap provided was watered down, and there was only a tiny amount left. This was not replaced. We had to take our own towels, which was fine, but there was nowhere to hang them up. Having said that, the beds were spotlessly clean and comfortable, and the staff were friendly, when you found them. The location was good. Not enough car parking. Only 5 spaces provided. There is free disc parking for 3 hours but if you want to leave your car there all day you have to pay for a permit. Thought it was a bit pricy for what you get. Nearly £100 per night for very basic room. Would have been better in a private room in a youth hostel.
