Lovely traditional Sunday roast. Well kept Black Sheep on tap. Would heartily recommend!

Lovely pub. Dog friendly. Friendly staff. Good food in large servings. The steak and ale pie is the best we've had.

David & Rosie we went for an evening meal , best meal we have had for a long long time . Land Lady was great to meet , very friendly and the service was very good ,well looked after by all staff. Will be back . Thankyou

The young staff were lovely . The landlady is very rude and miserable . We were sat near a lady who wasn’t happy with her food , I thought the landlady was going to throw it at her . We went the week before when she was off and the staff were relaxed and it was a lovely atmosphere. Food was average , however I would have given more stars if it wasn’t for the landlady . I have seen many complaints about her , so why doesn’t she change her attitude or find a job that will make her happy . A bailiff perhaps

Great for a drink stop when doing the wildlife walk

Three of us had lunch, steak pie, fish and chips and a seafood parcel. All were generous portions and all very tasty. Not been here for years but will be back soon. So many lovely sounding dishes on the menu

Camped in the Orchard at the back, beautiful location, dog friendly(lots of walks), electric hookup , elson waste. Very friendly great setup. Loved it.

Excellent pint of Bolt Maker , the best pint of beer for miles around according to my husband !

Visited with other members of the Yorkshire Driving Club for a pint and to let our ponies have a rest. Enjoyed our alfresco drinks

Stopped off for lunch whilst out for a walk. Food was amazing. Linguine Marinara and Liver. Nice portions and we had cheesecake to share for desert. Lovely country pub atmosphere and dog friendly. Service was super too. Forgot to take a photo. I just wanted to tuck in.

Booked a table at the Royal Oak for lunch for a friend's birthday with a group of ladies. Had a wonderful time. Food lovely, the Staff were so kind and helpful. Would definitely eat here again.

Brought my mum to the Th Royal oak for her 80th birthday On Thursday 29th Feb! Food was exceptional, as were the staff… We couldn’t have asked for nicer celebration!

The food was excellent, all fresh, homemade and very well cooked and presented. The service by all the very efficient staff was spot on, nothing was too much trouble for them. All our food arrived together for the four of us. We all thoroughly enjoyed our food and if there was a list for next Christmas lunch, then we will be at top of the list. All together a brilliant day!

I Loved christmas dinner but would have been better to have childrens menue 3 children just ate the toast on starter not for childrens pallets nor the soup to spicy to big of portion for kids overfaced them

Popped in for a quick drink after a walk from home. One very nice member of staff but one extremely rude one. We remembered this was a similar experience to 6 months ago when we visited so will not return.

We were there for Christmas Dinner it was excellent all home cooked and freshly prepared all so tasty 😋 The staff were amazing pleasant and obliging we certainly recommend it and will be visiting again soon

Very imaginative menu, delicious food, and attentive service

Another lovely family meal out, was a little disappointed with the portion sizes as they seemed smaller from our last visit. The food was very yummy as usual. My only gripe in relation to the service is how the older lady spoke to us. She can sometimes be really friendly and make you feel welcome and other times seems lose her people skills. I know people can have a bad day, but this isn't the first time this has happened. Hopefully on our next visit she'll be having a better day.

What a shame. Attended a wedding here, outdoor staff couldn't be more helpful. Unfortunately the landlady inside was the utter opposite. When my husband asked for the baby changing facilities he was offered the gents toilet floor. When asked for an alternative to the piss covered floor, she asked " can't his mother do it?". There are no fixed facilities in the ladies toilet, they are just "cleaner floors". She's very lucky to have such wonderful staff, because otherwise she would be out of business.

We visited the Royal Oak as we were staying locally and recommended by our host. We felt immediately unwelcome by the land lady. The reception to discussing serious allergies was rude and unhelpful, despite us offering to go elsewhere, a suggestion which made her more annoyed. We were stood at the bar & told a table would be cleared for us, after 30 mins of waiting we questioned this and were rudely advised a table had been ready for ages. Food was great, very unpleasant to non-locals. The Wild Swan down the road is a brilliant alternative, with considerate staff.

Stayed in the campsite behind the pub for a reasonable price and had a meal in the pub on the night. Please we did as the food was fantastic the service friendly and attentive the beers kept well a real gem.

Stayed overnight in our Motorhome 2/6/23 Kathryn was a lovely host,service great,food 1st class I had goats cheese starter and salmon main both the best I've had,only wish I'd had room for apple and Cherry crumble maybe next time,definitely be back 👌x

We booked a Sunday Roast here in May on the weekend of the coronation. We were staying at a B&B nearby, and this seemed a great option. After we were ignored for a few minutes, we were finally greeted by the owner, who led us to our table, and was quite cordial. But I will admit that first impressions had me a bit worried. Our waitress was delightful. The turkey roast was plentiful and delicious. Well worth our taking the time to visit here.

Have stopped here for drinks many times but today was sadly our first encounter with a rude older lady (can see she's been mentioned many times before!) Will now avoid when we go for walks around here if she's around!! All other staff are lovely, they must have a great shift while she's around! 😂

Was not asked if I had any allergies on arrival. Was told chef could work around it. Menu did not cater for gluten allergy. Ordered starter of pate. No bread arrive because they didn't have gluten free bread. I've been here before but sadly on this visit I had to complain. Bill was reduced marginally. Yet who would like pate without toasted bread? Felt robbed! Will not likely return

Nice little pub, fairly busy at the bar when I went for some food on my way home. Plenty of places to sit and relax, though if you want a quiet meal it's a little more of a gamble, but depends on your own preference. Phenomenal outside seating area, though not directly behind the bar it's only over the car park, though they also have seating out front too. Food was great, turkey roast dinner. Can't fault the place to be honest.

Lovely place nice surroundings. Good car park. Clean and tidy. Friendly staff and good meals. We were on a car rally and some of us decided to come to the Royal Oak, pleased we did.

Amazing Sunday lunch. Friendly staff, good selection of beer and top notch Sunday lunch. All at reasonable prices. Perfect for a family get together on a Sunday.

This is a lovely cosy country pub, dog and child friendly, perfectly located for a stop before and after an afternoons walk what ever the weather, we would have gladly stayed all day sat beside the log burner listening to the relaxing music, would have stayed for food too if we didn't already have plans, but will definitely be going back.

We recently came for a meal here the food was delicious and well presented. The portion sizes are not skimpy and well presented. We would definitely recommend it. We also like the fact it looks like a proper country pub perfectly in keeping with a village. If you want a lovely meal in beautiful surroundings then give The Royal Oak in Staveley a try you will certainly not be disappointed. Thanks everyone.

Staying in the cottage next door (for a couple of nights) so popped in for a Sunday dinner. Nice decor. A good ( big!) Sunday roast. Think food served till 7 on a Sunday.

From the first time I walked in I have been made to feel welcome. Top food as well. Well worth a visit if you are in the area.
