Great little find just off the A1 towards York, we stopped for breakfast. Dairy and gluten-free accommodating, dog friendly as the tables outside undercover. Fantastic food great parking and all Cooke from fresh is brilliant. Not sure why people are rating four stars on here this is definitely a five star cafe

We though this looked a great little spot to stop for a bit of breakfast but boy was I wrong. Breakfast was plain and tasteless with nothing on the plate to make it look nice at all. The toilets were absolutely disgusting. There was dirt all on the toilet lid the toilet brush was absolutely rank and the bathroom looked like it hadn’t had a good clean in a LONG time. The over all restaurant upstairs was pretty grotty too if I’m honest. The young girl that served us was nice but I wouldn’t return.

Best bacon roll that I know. Local bacon and locally baked roll. Unbeatable. Smooth and lovely coffee. I recommend this highly. Avoid lunchtime as it is busy with the business park staff. Very reasonable prices.

Fabulous breakfasts served in a lovely little cafe, with plenty of outdoor seating. The full English or a bap are my favourites. Highly recommended 😊👍

Called in to what I thought looked like a lovely cafe, oh how I was wrong. I asked for a breakfast which was £6 to take out and £9 to eat in, I only made a joke about that’s a lot extra to eat in and was told that there is a Morrison’s down the road and I can go eat there. I am a stubborn guy so I walked away right there and won’t be going ever again. Such rude staff, if I could give it 0 stars I would!

Tried taking advantage of eating in but adding £3 to then talk down to the customer saying go to Morrisons If you don’t like it then starts following us out when they get told there having a bad review and trying to argue after telling us they will add more to the meal

A great place to stop on the road to Ripon and the Dales. Lovely staff, great outdoor space and a great choice of homemade cakes. We had lemon cake and flat white today, the lunch menu looked good too. Nearby on Rabbit Hill estate there is also a nice country shop selling plants, pet food and workwear.

Great cooked English breakfast & even better coffee. Flat white is my choice. Its worth a detour off the A1M for a rest.

The cafe is on the Rabbit Hill Business Park on the A168, which runs parallel with A1 from Wetherby to the A19, just before Boroughbridge turn off. It’s new build with disabled access and toilet. The coffee and food we ate was delicious, eat in or Takeaway. There’s a small number of tables inside and a sizeable covered in outside area. Bit of retail shopping at the Country Store next door with a little garden centre and lots of stuff for pets etc. If your in the area or if your travelling up or down the A1 it’s worth a detour. (There were even a couple of ladies that lunch having tea and cake when we were there.

I do not usually write reviews but I feel as though I have to after what I witnessed last night 28/11. After waiting 20-25 minutes for my food, I saw the fryer shouting at the gentleman on the Till area. I asked the young man if he was okay and I could tell he was getting upset. The chef was repeatedly shouting at him and telling him to go home and storming off and swearing at him whilst the gentleman did not respond and seemed to get upset. The worst part was that it was quite busy and the man on the till was obviously trying his hardest whilst the other gentleman working was seemingly walking around aimlessly, not helping, and doing nothing. I am disgusted by this, surely in this day and age abuse towards young staff should not be happening? After reading other reviews, I have seen that this is not the first time this has happened with the same Chef. Surely management has picked up on this? I was going to give the chef a piece of my mind but was concerned that it would only result in him shouting at the young gentleman further. I will not be returning when this man is working And I am advising friend and family to do the same.

We have being visiting this cafe for over 15 years and always enjoyed visisting with family. The team in the yellow uniforms were always friendly and the prices VERY resonable. We enjoyed Xmas luches here and have great memories playing crazy / mini golf. Visited today hoping to enyoy cake and a latte, but noticed new owners have taken over. Sadly not a patch on previous set up and sorry to say the wonerful home made baking was replaced with uninspiring offerings. Latte was the worsed i have had in many years, can only be described it as white coffee, the owner was unimpressed and rude with me asking for a replacement. Will not be returning.

Gluten free review for the cafe: I visited the Druid’s Temple today and went to the cafe for lunch afterwards. Gluten free cakes and sandwiches were available. I had an ultimate hot chocolate and a trout and cream cheese sandwich (GF bread), and I’m sad to say that neither were very flavourful. The hot chocolate was weak and watery, and the sandwich was very dry. It’s a shame because the setting is so beautiful! A word to cross contamination, I have reacted to the food that I had, so I suspect that the chopping board used for my sandwich may not have been cleaned down before preparing my food (or similar). There was also a gluten free chocolate brownie which was in the same cabinet next to gluten containing cakes, with tongs that customers could use to select their own cakes, but no separate gluten free pair. If anyone from the cafe happens to read this, from coeliacs and gluten free people everywhere please could you make sure that cross contamination risk is limited through simple measures such as cleaning down a surface before making gluten free food (we don’t mind waiting a bit longer for piece of mind!), and that GF cakes and sweet treats are kept separate and using separate tongs etc? When we find places that don’t gluten us we share it heavily in the community!

Stayed here on our way home to the West Country we stay almost every year. And this year was just as good as previous years. This year we stayed in house opposite the room I believe was called Braxton? It had a shower over the bath and a nice sized bathroom. The bed was huge and very comfortable, there ware extra pillows/blankets etc in a wardrobe if needed. There was kettle and cafetière with coffee bags. The breakfast the next morning was all cooked to order and great poached eggs. I would highly recommend this hotel and will be staying there again next year. :-)))))

Having visited the Tontine several times in the recent past, we looked forward to a nice Sunday lunch as a family. The visit was marred by underwhelming customer service, requests for water took several attempts before being served, the staff seemed uncommitted to delivering much of a service, and the food , frankly was at best average.I’m afraid that in view of the negative impression we had, it will be some time before we return, there are so many good local places to eat, it really is a disappointment to have to be so negative, must try harder would be my advice.
