This was our first visit. We were welcomed very warmly by Fabio and Italian waiter, and when we told him we had come from Birmingham, he said he would make sure that this was a good experience for us. The service was good the food excellent and the restaurant spotless. Well done Fabio

Took my five year old to the pizza master class in the Easter holidays. It was fantastic, my little girl really enjoyed it and we will absolutely be returning. My little one has a dairy allergy and she was catered for no problem and had a yummy pizza to eat at the end. Jute who runs it was kind, fun and approachable. Very well organised event.

The food was disgusting very expencive for what you get we had mac & cheese no sauce cos done in a microwave im a chef and would not serve that do not eat here they are amatures taking your money

We visited for my father-in-laws 78th birthday and the staff kindly put us in the private room. This was lovely as it made the meal at but more personal for the 8 of us. We were also able to be more silly knowing that we wouldn’t disturb any other customers. The food was lovely, but the steaks could have done with a few more mins to be properly medium/rare. The birthday boy’s steak was a bit too gristly but the team were very happy to replace with something else. The customer service was perfect throughout and I couldn’t fault them at all. We would love to come and dine again soon :)

Updated review for 2024 March visit: A new host at the CC, what a breath of fresh air, the staff were great with us all and interacted with the kids really nicely. Menu is good with plenty of choice, spicy pepperoni pizza for me, Sunday roasts for others all winners, mac & cheese and bangers & mash got a thumbs up from the little people. Desserts full of flavour and Guinness on draft what more can be said. We will be back. Thanks Jure, shame you lost and Os & Xs. Plentiful new menu, scallops and pea purée good, arancini nice, pizza thin and crispy, hake light and full of flavour, seems all fresh. Clean and bright new look throughout the place. Service off to a good start.

The restaurant was very busy but the waiter, Fabio, was very attentive and nothing was too much trouble. I had the sea bass for dinner and it was delicious. I would highly recommend this place

Amazing lunch from an amazing team, The place was very busy but the staff was super friendly and gave us all the time needed. Food came out very fast and it came lovely presented and nice and hot. Chris who was our server, who is also the new general manager was very chatty and super friendly. he made our visit extra special as Brought out a a little cake with a candle for my birthday which was a nice touch.

I came for a Sunday Roast and I was immediately greeted by a lovely young lady (I think her name was India). She brought me and my family to our table and made us feel super comfortable by giving us everything we needed such as crayons for my two children… The food was brought out really fast and it tastes delish! Couldn’t recommend enough.

We come for Sunday roast every Sunday. I must say with the new change in management our Sunday roast this week was amazing. The bar has been raised and it's the best we have had in around a year. All the family enjoyed their experience and felt so much more family-friendly than ever. The staff was very polite and very personable. 10/10 for the staff and food. see you again on Sunday.

No beef left, so i chose the pork. Food was only luke warm and yorkshire pudding was crispier than the pork crackling. Restaurant itself was so noisy with kids it gave me a headache. Not a great experience

Very helpful when we were lost in the fog

Went in on a friday night at 4.30/5pm we sat in the conservatory with table service. I had the sticky chicken to start it was so nice the blue cheese mayo on top just made it. For main course i had hunter chicken with the buttermilk upgrade and woow.

Lovely venue. Get busy very quickly for Sunday lunch which is a testament to its quality. Food was amazing and staff were great. Special mention to Ibo/Ivo. Will definitely go back. Roast pork leg is highly recommended.

Went in for my birthday. The staff where amazing food was amazing very full after a mixed grill. Went to the bar and sat and had a few drinks where chris and pav served us both attentive and they spe t time talking to us and having a laugh felt homily. 🐝

Just come back from The Curious Cow having had a meal. Wow! What a transformation this place is! Greeted by the supervisor / manager Yuri who showed us to our table. Beer was fantastic- 3 on handpull and a wealth of keg beers and ciders. Had the pork belly - WOW! Wife jealous I got in 1st, she had however chosen a fatatic dish too - chicken and chorizo kebab. The boy had a great burger and chips. A great place with fantastic staff / service. You really ought to go. Well done Yuri and staff.

Ten of us booked the Curious Cow for Christmas Day lunch. From the moment we entered, I could tell there would be issues. There was only one member of staff at the bar, and it took forever to be served. After a 45 minute wait - we were taken to our table - It just had table mats, cheap crackers and black napkins thrown on, not the Christmas feel we were expecting. Drinks were slow, food was even slower. When we eventually got our cold starters, they were very average - A real let down; the presentation was very poor too. We didn’t have any cutlery, but luckily it was brought to our table on a tray and thrown in the middle, for us all to help ourselves. Is this a new way to serve guests I wonder - A bit of ‘Do it yourself?’ The ‘Do it yourself’ theme continued. After waiting at least 30+ minutes, I decided to clear the plates from the table myself. And then we waited ….. ad hoc drinks arrived, never altogether. But the food, that had been pre ordered was nowhere to be seen. We asked to speak to the manager - ‘Chris C’, but he was in the kitchen and didn’t show his face for the duration of our visit. It eventually arrived - I don’t know what to say really. We had waited nearly an hour for tepid, tasteless food - It was a real disappointment! As for the desert, some of us got one, others didn’t, so we decided to cut our losses and leave - not before voicing our thoughts. To their credit, we were immediately offered a full refund by a member of staff. ‘Chris C ‘, the manager subsequently sent an email calling the day a disaster. Yay! Great that he acknowledged our day had been ruined, despite talk of some guests just wanting to ‘Cause trouble’ - thanks for that Chris. We will also be declining your generous offer of a complimentary meal for the ten of us. We’ll take our business elsewhere, maybe The Ivy. …. I don’t want to tempt another ‘Bad mood’ …. One final point - the Italian staff member deserves a medal for trying to hold the place together.

This restaurant is cosy and inviting. The decor and the real fires add to the ambiance. We visited as a family with elderly parents for Sunday lunch. The staff were all very friendly and attentive. The food was good quality and we all enjoyed our meals although the beef was slightly too fatty for one of the party but the staff could not do enough to try and rectify this. Unfortunately during our visit one of our party had a medical episode. A nurse and a doctor who were customers came to help and without their help I think we would have all gone to pieces. I would like to thank them from all of us. The staff were fabulous and moved very quickly to try to help as much as they could. They also arranged for someone to go and locate a defibrillator should it be needed. I would like to thank everyone who helped us. We will definitely be back. Hopefully for a less eventful lunch!

We stopped without booking, and we're made to feel really welcome. The decor and atmosphere was special, fresh and comfortable. Food were amazing, delicious and huge portions. The menu allowed everyone choice and we are a fussy bunch! Highly recommend and we definitely going back.

Great food, brilliant service and kid friendly!

We decided to stop at this interesting eatery and so glad we did, what a comfortable place this is, we enjoyed a couple of very pleasant wines. We decided to have a meal and were guided though the menu by a very pleasant and knowledgeable South Africa girl, we followed her advise and quickly received our delicious meal, and decided to have another (small) wine. A wonderful experience to what I remembered as The Travellers Rest it was good then and the same now. Thanks to our waitress for making memories come true

Came for NYE and it was fantastic. The staff are friendly, welcoming to four legged companions and the food is sublime. I had a Mixed Grill and the meat was mouth wateringly good. Highly recommend!

I’m based at AFC Harrogate and come to the Curious Cow very regularly. It’s a great establishment with friendly staff and a great selection of food and drinks for a very reasonable price! Would and do recommend to all my friends and colleagues.

Fairly quiet on a Thursday night, but can imagine the atmosphere is excellent over the weekends and Sunday lunches! Food was excellent for our party of nine. Service with a smile and good value too. We'll definitely be back!

No staff around when we went in. A dog was sat on a stool at the bar. When someone appeared I complained about this and he was very ill mannered and I shall never visit again.

We had a really awful Xmas dinner here, really spoilt by poor service, dirty tables, tepid food. We paid a lot of money for a carefree dinner but it just ended up as a nightmare. We were not the only ones - quite a few other families were affected as well. Some were visibly upset by the whole experience.

We visited today 2nd January, 2024 for my husbands birthday. We actually travelled almost 30 miles to go, as the people we was with, met up with us there, as they live near York and it was half way for us all to travel. Well, the minute we walked in, we was made very welcome by the young lady who was taking the Christmas decorations down, and the waiter was so pleasant from start to finish of our visit. We was not rushed to order and he was very knowledgeable about the choices on the menu. All four of us thoroughly enjoyed the meal, food was piping hot, generous portions and very tasty. The dessert was absolutely delicious too. Honestly, I cannot fault our experience today and without doubt, we will definitely be returning soon. Well Done to all of you, but especially your friendly waiter.

Nice atmosphere food was good service was very slow, only seemed to have 2 staff members working,we expected to be in there about an hour and 15 minutes, but it was 2 hours and 20 minutes by the time we had eaten,this is okay if you're not on a timetable to be somewhere

I am a Knarebough local....and having been seduced by the advertising for this RELATIVELY (to me) newly named Emporium and on my way to Granton Logs I 'popped in'. A delightful Jure made me feel like a King! I 'popped' back a couple of times ..and then had cause for some business locally. I was greeted by the massively competent and experienced new Manager..Chris Charlesworth! Say no more!! This superb destination is clearly in wonderful hands! I can see no reason locally to me for any other hospitality venue! Well done guys!

We were looking forward to Xmas dinner here. We arrived a few minutes before our booked time. We stood in the door way waiting for someone to greet us. We waited and waited, more people turning up but still no one actually acknowledged us standing at the entrance. Eventually we managed to corner a waiter and about 15 minutes we were finally shown to a table, which was covered in debris from the previous occupants. 15:20 managed to place order for drinks, which arrived at around 15:50 with the last part of the drinks turning up at 16:05. Starters did turn up at about the same time, not the best quality though. Other customers are also really disgruntled with the service, especially the ones that just had the cutlery thrown onto the table. I also won't mention the customers that have just had to clear their own table!!!! Now the wait begins for the main course! It's now 16:25..... I will update everyone with the next thrilling installment of this saga...... ......mains turned up about 10 mins later. It was warm, and we didn't have to cook it, but that's about all I can say. The one positive of the whole experience was the waiter, Jure, he went out of his way to serve us, and to apologise for our experience, I did feel sorry for him as he was the only one taking the flack from all the tables!! Dessert turned up just after 5, my Xmas pudding was tepid, as were the others. The whole experience was pretty poor. We can understand that problems occur in the kitchen or understaffed but what really upset us is that no one told us what was happening, no manager coming around to apologise, offering free drinks to make up for it. No attempt to explain, and we were left with dirty tables, nothing laid out,and we got fresh cutlery AFTER, the food was eventually delivered, but as experienced by other tables it was simply thrown on the table for us to arrange. It was not the best of experiences for Xmas day dinner.

The team were super busy tonight but ever so conscious. They served us as promptly as they could & delivered gorgeous food & cocktails. Our server Jure was a delight & ensured we had everything we needed as much as possible. Couldn’t recommend enough.

One of the best meals out we’ve had in a long time, and we are fairly big foodies! The service, atmosphere and food was absolutely faultless! We had Jure serve us, and he pulled out all the stops to make sure everything was as best as can be! Look after him as he will be a great asset to your establishment!
