I can’t fault the meal, environment and attentive service we received! We were a party of 17 and were in the perfect room upstairs! The attention to detail was excellent and we particularly appreciate the name place/ menu choice cards that they provide! The staff were so friendly and Katie! Thanks you! Let’s hope we can repeat it next year!

November 2024. Dreadful. We waited an hour for food, looked like everyone around us was waiting as well. Didn’t even get apology or even some bread to tie us over. So can’t comment on food. We walked out. They were serving pizzas galore for a private function upstairs but sorry didn’t live up to the name.

Overall we left Piccolino really disappointed after our anniversary meal. We paid an extortionate amount for such a let down with the main courses. We ordered spaghetti aglio oilo e pepperoncino and linguini aloe vongole. Both dishes arrived and were extremely watery, essentially like ramen soup, yet almost completely flavourless apart from the watery, oily liquid in the bottom of the dish, which should have been a lovely sauce coating the pasta. Real shame as the starters and the service were really lovely. We were going to get dessert and possibly stay for an after meal drink too, but we were so let down by the main courses we wanted to leave asap afterwards and continue our celebration somewhere else. The restaurant also appeared to be sold out of several dishes too, really surprising for 6pm on a Saturday night?! We were really looking forward to our anniversary meal here, but unfortunately I would have to recommend that people to steer clear of piccolino, I expected a lot better, especially considering a small plate of watery pasta is £19 for a main course. I do however want to highlight that the service and attention to dietary requirements was great, but if you’re reading this, don’t prepare yourself for an exceptional meal by any stretch of the imagination.

I'd like to update this review with a comment on the meal and service we had recently when our eldest daughter, Kathryn and her partner Ben visited from Perth Australia. We went to Piccolinos for a family meal (12 of us). We were brilliantly well looked after and the food was every bit as good as it always has been in the past. We had a great time. Always a thoroughly enjoyable meal here. My wife and I have visited Piccolinos together and also with our daughter, son-in-law law and our grandchildren. The food is excellent with a lovely varied menu to choose from, and the service is superb. We have always found that the children are particularly well looked after by the friendly staff. We love the roof terrace as well. Even in chilly weather it's still fun but as it warms up its a real treat. It's been noticeable that the atmosphere has been even more relaxed and friendly lately. Very much looking forward to our next visit. Highly recommended Visiting Harrogate recently gave my wife and I an opportunity to check out Piccolino again. What an improvement!! The food is absolutely superb, must be due to the team led by Head Chef Tim Kitchen who we were able to meet. Great offers too such as 2 course for £20 at lunch time. As always, the friendly and efficient staff made our visit a treat.

There were 8 of us dining,it was a Thursday night 17th October, the restaurant was fairly empty, I can’t comment on all of the food but several of us had the LASAGNE AL WAGYU E TARTUFO Piccolino anniversary masterpiece, 25 layers of slow-cooked Wagyu beef, truffle, béchamel, tomato & fresh basil lasagne, this came in at £21.50 together with CALAMARI FRITTI Crispy fried squid, chilli & lemon mayonnaise to start. If I’m being honest you couldn’t tell it was wagu, it was served slightly mushed and didn’t really look that appetising! disappointed that this was billed as there anniversary masterpiece!! The calamari was ok, no real finesse in how it was served and it was top end for a started at £11.25 My girlfriend is coeliac she had the PROSCIUTTO E MELONE A simple yet iconic classic featuring San Daniele Parma ham & cantaloupe melon which was uninspiring in presentation, Tracey also had the gluten free margarita pizza, unfortunately the base was so overcooked it was difficult to cut and we were not sure if they’ prepared it fresh on site, in her words it tasted like it was bought in and she’s a good judge on gluten free, now normally we would have raised all of this at the restaurant, however it was a family break we were in Harrogate for 4 days with family and on this occasion we were being treated and it was frowned upon to make a scene. I’ve eaten at several of the outlets Birmingham, Manchester & Liverpool but unfortunately this was not a good night for Harrogate, based on our experience we wouldn’t return.

Went for a works meal out, food was good, wine was very good. There were a few issues with steaks, we all seemed to get the wrong type (fillet/sirloin etc), how cooked, its was a bit of a shambles..... possibly due to new staff. Pizzas were freshly made, but seemed light on toppings. Other food in the group was nice, chicken and pasta was very good... Took quite a while to get attention for dessert, so ended up paying and leaving. I got the impression we were just unlucky as was mid week. But would try again, as is a nice place.

Went here for our 48th wedding anniversary. I went out of my way to explain to the management that this was a very special occasion and could they do their best to ensure all went well and seat us at a decent table...but...WHAT A DISASTER. We were EVENTUALLY seated in the middle of the room at a table for four with two bench seats, unfortunately the seats were that well used you immediately sank down so the table top was level with my chest and I'm 5'x11' its was liked eating with the plate above your head. Next the drinks order was taken however after 25minutes we had to chase this, we noted the conversation at the bar it was clear they had lost the order. Next we ordered three starters which 20 minutes later came but we had no cutlery they had forgot to set the table by the time this came the starters were cold. Next came the mains, 1x steak, 1 mushroom risotto, 1x chicken dish and 1x lasagne. three meals came right but a plain risotto came too which was wrong and NO lasagne. When we questioned this the plain risotto was taken away and my wife was left there watching us eat while she wated for the lasagne. eventually it came 10 mins later by which time everyone else had virtually finished, I was not happy!! I complained to the waiter who went away and arranged for the lasagne to be taken off the meal (thank you very much but you miss the point I think) shortly after another manger came and apologised and explained they had missed the lasagne and it takes time to produce more WHAT!! its an Italian restaurant and a basic lasagne that's ridiculous. I was so mad, I asked for the bill and when it came I couldn't believe my eyes.....it had the plain risotto included which we didn't order and it was sent back....and they had the audacity to add a 10% service charge automatically...you got to be kidding I said, this was amended, we paid and left, WE WILL NOT BE RETURNING, next time we'll go VIVIDO who treat their customers much better. THERE IS MORE BUT IM OUT OF MESSAGE ROOM...

We went on a Wednesday eve - 2 adults and 2 kids. Staff was friendly and attentative. Ordered the Antipasto Platter for starters. Very little bread and no extra bread served. Mains were ok. Ordered espresso but was forgotten by the staff. Did certainly not like that the bill included a tip of 10% right away - although optional. I think tipping should be purely a decision of the guest and there is no need for a restaurant to put an amount right onto the bill explaining that it all goes to staff. That is the way things got out of proportion in the States. Pay your staff properly as a restaurant owner, put salaries into the prices of the food and leave guest to decide on tipping for good service and food. Prices at Piccolino are certainly high enough!

Overall a very good experience. The restaurant was about half full, the staff were attentive and the food was very, very good! I would certainly recommend and definitely will be returning. Only reason why it wasn't 5 stars, was because there is an automatic gratuity added to your bill of 10%, that we werent aware of, until recieved the bill. So our automatic gratuity came to just a few pence short of £20. When the food and service has been good I will always tip, but when it's added on automatically it makes me feel slightly uneasy. Especially if the amount is more than you think is earned or more then you had budgeted for. So just something to be wary of when visiting. But on the whole was a very pleasant experience.

Lovely atmosphere and decoration, mostly polite and welcoming staff. Unfortunately the food and service was terrible. Starter (ribs) was measly, cold and fatty, and arrived before our drinks. Lasagna was good, seafood spaghetti was bland and missing clams and had 1 prawn and undercooked calamari (bad for the price). 2 sides were ordered, they never arrived. To be fair, the manager was accommodating and took the starters and sides off the bill and reduced price of spaghetti. Even so, £50 for the poor meal and service we had was too steep. Pretty awful experience in summary. Initial impressions were good: nice decor, bustly atmosphere, plenty of staff, and there was an acceptable selection of drinks and cocktails, albeit on the pricey side. The experience went downhill relatively quickly however shortly after we took our table. In the interest of full disclosure - I was in a party of fourteen (couples, all in our fourties) and as such were in the upstairs private dining area. We were asked to order our food a few weeks in advance of the day, and pay a £10 per head deposit. I chose the calamari, followed by pea and asparagus risotto, followed by tiramisu. The starter was ok. It was served with a mayonnaise dip but would have been better served with an aioli. Service was not very attentive by now, and as we were in private dining we had to get up from table and walk downstairs to get attention. Then we had an hour wait before our mains were served. By this time, our party were getting a little annoyed considering that we had ordered up front. My risotto was just about ok. The asparagus was nice and crunchy but the rice was a little overdone and overall it lacked flavour. I think I could have done as good a job at home. I had eaten half of it by the time I was offered any parmesan, another symptom of the slow service, which hadn't improved despite our party making our concerns known. Mains were cleared and then another long wait until dessert was served. We were then told that tiramisu was not available - it was still frozen apparently. We had ordered weeks in advance and there was no reasonable excuse for this. Staff were very defensive when our objections were raised. I was pretty miffed myself by this point as I was looking forward to my tiramisu. I got given a pleasant creme brulee as a substitute, but by this time the issues with service and missing items had completely overshadowed the evening. I asked to speak to the duty manager, to be told that they had left for the evening (on a Saturday night, before the end of service?!). I instead dealt with the Assistant Manager who did her best but came across as lacking confidence and experience. My advice to you is that if you have a party of people wanting a nice evening then you should avoid this establishment.

Distinctly average and over priced for what is at best chain food. Third iteration in Harrogate for individual restaurants, and should have never changed it from the original bar and grill. If you want good Italian food, go to Stuzzi or Brio.

Unfortunately we had a bad experience, we were looking forward to a treat & really excited about the menu! However the Calzones were small and average, and came with no sauce on the side, no garnish with starters but the dissappointing thing was my mussels, they tasted delicious but as soon as id finished i felt off. Then my swordfish and scallop skewer came and wasnt cooked properly. Safe to say i wasnt well afterwards. We werent told that you have to order any kind of sides with food too. The service was good and the atmosphere was buzzin but my food was not good! Really dissappointed.

Fur coat and no knickers as my nan used to say. Staff were friendly and helpful and eager to put things right. But service felt rushed and shambolic. Food was served in a rush, very slap dash. The place itself is nicely decorated but very large and open so consequently very noisy. The food and drink was overcooked and over priced. Calamari just over but still edible. Rigatoni and ribs very tasty, as was the tiramisu. They made me pay for a 3 course meal, even though I only had 2 courses. Totally inflexible. Tip automatically added to bill, so watch out. I agree in paying tips, but not when it isn't worth it.

We were booked in for my birthday, at the time trading as Ginos. We had eaten at Ginos before, food, service and ambience were all excellent. After receiving a phone call 4 days before our booking informing us that Ginos had closed and it was now Piccolinos we kept the booking because it was too late to find another restaurant. Our waiter was polite and helpful until the food came out, my carbonara was awful tasting of nothing but burnt bacon. And the 2 calzone we ordered were both charcoal in places. I did mention that the carbonara wasn't good the pasta tasted of nothing he insisted it should be that way and I was eating proper Italian carbonara not an English version full of cream. Well, I've eaten proper carbonara on many occasions none of them tasting of charcoal. In the end I told him whatever I'd ordered shouldn't taste burnt and he said he would take it back to the head chef, who was busy taking photos of plated meals. The head chef agreed it was burnt and it was duly taken off the bill. My complaint is that I shouldn't have to argue with the waiter anyway and maybe the head chef should be concentrating on running the kitchen rather than becoming the next David Bailey. Appalling food, ambience was minimal, and service out of the window. Will not be going back. The bill was 180.00 and I expect better service and quality for that much money..

Was here just after lunch time (not so busy yet) Right from the door to when we left, it was great ambience, friendly authentic italian staff, great food and drinks. I didn't find a single fault. Highly recommend and looking forward to returning there when next I'm in Harrogate. 10/10 for me.

Waiters don't write your orders down, 3 times they came with the wrong starter! After 90 minutes they managed to get the starter correct! The staff argued in front of customers! My wife ordered Chicken Skewers which were that burnt you couldn't tell Chicken from Peppers, even the waiter agreed that he wouldn't have ate it. Never going back

Lovely friendly man served me lovely Canolli to take home. Lovely interaction and a pleasant first visit. Thank you. Nice place. Nice people. Nice Canolli.

Place started out really good, but has unfortunately fallen to the harrogate takeout curse. Quality of the food has dropped since they opened, and my most recent order was so bad that I had to send it back and request a new order, as my pizza had no sauce under the cheese, was very overcooked and was covered in bubbles. My garlic bread (with tomato sauce) also came with little to no garlic, and barely any sauce. Granted i have to thank the fact that they did replace it, and the 2nd order was piping hot, well sauced and cooked to a more satisfactory degree. But at this point I hardly felt an urge to eat it. I loved this place when it started, but it's fallen in quality hard since then.

Is this the best Italian in England? Quite possibly! Service is exemplary and the food is brilliantly "curated" and perfectly prepared. They manage to create a family run feel to this large venue and all the staff have smiles on their faces and make every customer feel special. Nothing is too trivial and there are no problems just opportunities for superb customer service. Waiters know their product and are happy to offer advice on ingredients etc. Gianni's has become our "go to" eating place when in Harrogate and long may it remain so. We'll see them soon
