Portofino Ristorante in Harrogate

We had a table booked for 7 pm it was really busy. We placed our orders and got our starters before our drinks arrived. The starters was nice but then our main meal came and my husbands Chicken Parmo was not warm the first waitress came over whilst he was eating and ask if everything was ok he told him it was like warm he went straight over to the owner then the girl waitress came over we said the same she apologised my husband left part of his meal then the owner came over and he explained to him the same he asked why didn’t you say but he had already told two waitresses. We was not even offered a drink or anything just paid the bill. Wouldn’t return there is more Italians in Harrogate.

We visited Portofino for the first time today for a family lunch. Impeccable service, wonderfully delicious, perfectly prepared food. It is so refreshing to find a restaurant with a manager who is truly working so hard and attentively to serve the customer and inspire a young group of staff, who did an amazing job in looking after us. We will return - Portofino embodies all of the values of a great restaurant for us!

really lovely meal out with my friends all our food was really delicious and all the servers (especially a brunette waitress called holly) were super friendly and accommodating despite how busy the restaurant was;food is all also really good value for money as portion sizes are quite large:)

Had heard so much about the combo pasta and pizza dishes at this restaurant and it didn’t disappoint. Would definitely return again and try a different combination :)

This was an excellent find recommended by locals. We walked in as an unbooked group if 9 on a busy Thursday and they still managed to seat us together and serve excellent good value food. They offer a wide choice of starters and mains for £13.50. Very generous portions and friendly service. Highly recommended.

AVOID AVOID AVOID!!! I chose this Italian because our usual place was closed and boy do I regret it. We have never experienced rudeness and ignorance from front of house and wait staff like we did here. We were made to feel like an inconvenience by the front of house staff and when our food arrived it was plonked on the table by a very bored looking young man. The toilets are disgusting, filthy, smell hideous and in a state of disrepair. The food was just OK but pricey for what it was. I can't explain just how rude the staff were, don't waste your time or money on mediocre food and really naff service.

First time in Harrogate and wanted to eat out, so chose this place as my partner and I love Italian food. But of all the Italians I've eaten at, this was the worst. We were seated quickly and the lady who served us was very friendly and helpful. The rest of the staff, not so much. My partner did enjoy her meal, but mine was mediocre and the pasta was hard on the bottom, meaning I had to leave part of my dish. I told our waitress and she apologised and said she'd pass it on, but when a different guy brought the bill, there was no mention of it. I asked if my complaint had been passed on and the man went to find out. But when he came back he seemed agitated and offered to knock a drink off the bill, which I said was fine, but he made me feel on edge for a small compliant. There was no apology, it was like I was being a pain and I left feeling upset. It's hard for me to actually speak up, and it was only a small issue, so I think it would have been handled with a lot more grace. I felt like it ruined the meal for me - if I came back to Harrogate I'd go to Zizzis next door.

We go here frequently because the food and service is consistently good. Sometimes it gets really busy and loud but rarely on a Sunday afternoon in Winter, which is when we started going. It's part of a chain but feels like a family restaurant, with great service.

Awful. Quantity over quality. Staff try hard but that’s not enough to tempt us back. Loos were smelly and not the cleanest either. Sorry but has to be said,

Really tasty great gluten free veggie pizza. And the cheese they use is pasteurized, for those pregnant mums that can never be too careful. Super busy on Saturday but they made me a delicious gluten free takeaway pizza in 15 minutes. Pizza express would take 45 min.

it was HORRIBLE, my pasta was half cooked and my mums pizza was stale, if i could give 0 stars i would!! Just shows the price is good but the quality is horrific, it took ages for the food to come out and the food made me and my family ILL, don’t waste your time here, mac donald’s is better 👁👅👁

My wife and I were deciding between here and Pizza Express next door at 4.30pm on Saturday evening and chose to eat here. When we entered we asked fora table for two and were greeted with the question “Not booked?” When we said “No afraid not” we were led to a table and 2 menus were plonked on it. All without a word of acknowledgement spoken. So rude. We decided not to stay, got up and left. We won’t be going back. Went to Pizza Express next door instead and had a very nice meal in a friendly and happy atmosphere.

Food here was decent, and is one of the few places in Harrogate that is decently priced. Very family friendly.

Waited an hour to be served today sadly, starters arrived, I.5 hours we waited. The nachos missing. Food was very good!! Sadly we shall never ever return. They took off the nachos from the bill, sadly that was not good enough for the 2.5 hours service we endured.

Stumbled across this place today and was pleasantly surprised! Delicious Italian food and very busy even at 14:00 on a Friday!

What a great restaurant, we have never had a bad meal. We celebrated our daughters birthday here tonight. The front of house staff could not have done more for us, they are fantastic. Every single dish was delicious so the kitchen staff are fab too. We will definitely be back. Thank you team portofino!

Took 20mins to take our order. Waited 30mins for starters but mains came first so had to cancel starters. Food was OK but not that good to say we would return. Had empty plates on our table for a long time untill we eventually caught a member of staff to ask for them to be removed. Asked to see the desert menu that never arrived. Asked for the bill and left disappointed. Staff just seem to be like headless chickens with no one really in control.

Still lively, even midweek in January. Food was good quality and arrived quick, service perfect. Will be back.

My sister booked a table of 5, they didn’t have our booking. So a member of staff sat us near the toilets, then we had to move as the table was reserved. Restaurant was very busy giving it a warm welcoming atmosphere. Service was quick, staff were very helpful, very patient especially when we had 2 children under 5. Food was great, loads of choices on the menu. Reasonably priced too. Great little restaurant. Would come here again.

Me and my partner visited Portofino's in December 2023. We booked quite last minute but we got seated on a nice table by the window. I ordered from the Xmas menu while my partner ordered from the standard menu. The food overall was very nice...

All round very good. Dog friendly, great service… only downside was no HP Sauce available with a full English breakfast.. other than that it would have been five stars! Also props to them for having John Smith’s on tap… there’s not many places left that do.

Visited with friends as a pre-theatre spot of food. Quite busy but great atmosphere, orders taken fairly quickly. Bit of a delay in getting food (it was very busy!) but the meals were spot-on, very tasty, well cooked and presented. Happy to recommend.

It is a nice place, the portions are a decent size, we had snacks, starter and main, neither of us finished the mains due to being stuffed. Just maybe add less salt? I don't think I've had such a salty meal from a restraunt in a long time!

Excellent restaurant and one of my favourites in Harrogate. The waiters are very attentive and I always get good services here.

Not a great evening out. When our party sat down, we were given 3 menus between 7. The table was short of a cutlery set, we asked the server for a set and he replied “no, use your fingers” and walked off. We had to ask someone else when the food arrived for cutlery. When the food was brought out the server's thumb was in several of the pizzas as they were carried, not great if you don't want cross contamination! The food was alright. They state gluten free but there is only one starter that is suitable. The pizza was excessively salty and didn’t want to finish it. They played loud music, combined with everyone shouting you could only just hold a conversation with the person next to you, let alone anyone sat across the table. You could barely hear the server and they could barely hear your order. Over all I’ve been to quieter night clubs.

Spot on, Sunday lunch, 5 people mix of pasta, pizza and salads. Just fantastic food all round, fresh, tasty and great portions. It's really good value for money. I couldn't recommend more

Very disappointed. Treated my son to a meal out waited an hour and 10 minutes ask where the food was, we had been forgotten it wasn't even in its way. No apologies just it'll be a few minutes. Several minutes past to no prevail. So...

Great location in the centre of town. Was maybe half full for a Monday evening. Staff were excellent. We enjoyed the bolognaise nachos starter. Nice atmosphere.

Extensive menu and first class service. The restaurant has a genuine Italian feel and prices were reasonable. Food was excellent and portions generous.

Ordered 7 starters that was very basic and had no flavour, the garlic bread was rock hard and mains was even worse , I sent mine back and they still kept it on the bill after I didn’t even eat it, the chicken was pure white with no flavour or seasoning! The best part about the whole place was probably the wine. Never again! Left fuming, hungry and £130 down . Terrible service

Service was very slow on Saturday lunch time. Calamari was over cooked. Probably should have sent it back but then risked a long wait so had a good old chew.

Fab place, excellent value for money with quality food and good service.

Food was great. After searching for somewhere that wouldn't cost us an arm and a leg for dinner we came across portofino, reasonably priced and portion sizes were massive. Food was also very tasty. Decor is very nice and the service staff were great, Valentino and Daria couldn't do enough for us, giving great friendly service. Well be coming back here when next in Harrogate again.

A really good place good food service and brilliant price and if you can't manage the pizza you can take it home, staff very friendly and professional good service will be going back. Been back still a great place so will be going back again.

Came as a group of 13 for lunch today. Great welcome from the staff, who looked after us well whilst there. There is no gluten free menu, but they have pizza and pasta that can be made to any topping, plus the usual meats, fish, salad etc. Would definitely visit again.

It's quite a tired building, the toilets are in the basement, run down and unkept. The serving staff are young and friendly. No one was particularly bothered that we waited over 30 mins for our food and yes the Just Eats delivery person left with food before we got ours. But when our food eventually arrived it was well cooked, very hot and there was lots of it. Would we come again? Maybe knowing the wait time we would order more wine.

Great value, we visited at lunch time and had the 2 courses for £12.95. Food was very tasty with big portion sizes. Menu is very big with lots of selection, so something for everyone. Staff was attentive and polite, would visit again.

Starters were ok, if as Italian as something from Iceland supermarket. Pizza toppings were revolting (jarred onions and chunks of raw goats cheese for example) and middle of the pizzas were paper thin and soggy. Crusts were ok… Wouldn’t return

Was given a seafood dish when I was a vegetarian. When raised to the manager all he could do was laugh and was more concerned of whether i thought it tasted nice over the fact his staff served me the wrong dish. I could be unwell due to this and he took it as a joke and told me a story of how he had purposely fed vegetarian friends chicken in the past. This is a shame as the other food and drinks were actually lovely.

Portions are large, pizza is good and fresh, overall food is tasty but really nothing special. Unfortunately VERY long wait for entress (in spite of place being almost empty) therefore it is wise to take advantage of appetizer (starter) and entree deal...£12.95. Not bad. I would return but I would also continue to eyeball other restaurants in Harrogate.

Amazing food good price well beautiful worth a visit

We happened upon this restaurant when in Harrogate on business. I can honestly say it was the worst Italian we have ever experienced. There were three couples in the establishment when we arrived at 7.30pm. There were 7 staff including 3 working in the kitchen. We were served our wine quickly but waited near 40 minutes for 1 pizza a side salad and 1 portion of chips. All other couples appeared to have already eaten. Whilst we were there another group arrived and were served before us, then a party of 10 arrived. We were eventually served but the party of 10 must have waited over an hour and then their meals were incorrect. We ordered a sweet , an ice cream and some apples pie and a coffee. The coffee came immediately, and appeared to be instant!! After 30 minutes of waiting for desserts we told them to cancel. They then arrived, soggy microwaved apple pie and a glass of frozen ice cream. The toilets were filthy they didn't look like they had been cleaned for weeks and stank. This restaurant is a poor reflection of Harrogate and I would not recommend.anyone to visit. The Pizza Hut next door would be a better bet.

Very welcoming, staff superb, very quick service and with a smile and a chat. Food, hot and plentiful. Would highly recommend it and will certainly visit again.

We absolutely LOVE this restaurant. We have been so any times and it is our “go to” when we’ve finished work. Even when working late at night they fit us in. Valentino is probably one of the best front of house guys ever, so friendly and nothing too much trouble. Anyone who hadn’t tried here yet…. It’s a must, great food, atmosphere and service and very reasonable. Stuart & Dale from Harrogate suit hire.

Happy hour is decent value but the food is very average. Tried the salmon and calamari starter 5/10, glass of Merlot each, was 5/10 and the pizza Portafino(2/10) with Linguine Gamberino(6/10) for mains, maybe my fault for ordering a pizza with goats cheese as it just didn't work for my taste.

Fabulous meal, excellent service, all five of us gave it a ‘ten out of ten, would come again’ rating!
