Portofino Ristorante in Harrogate

Can’t knock this place at all, went again for our sons birthday, and as usual service with a smile, great value for money, ticks all the boxes 👍🏻

When we arrived at the restaurant, it was quite busy as it was Friday eve. We didnt have to wait and were shown to our table by the lovely Basat, she was so cheery and friendly. Our drinks were served quickly and our food came in a timely manner. Basat and Efe were very attentive, checking we were happy with our meals. Me and my wife both had pasta dishes, which were delicious and hot. Excellent food and service and definately will be going back.

I'm a fussy eater but at Portofino there's such a wide variety of choices that I can always find a suitable choice. They even do English breakfasts!!

The first visit for us, but won't be our last. Only negative for me was the restaurant was slightly chilly, might go a bit later next time in hope that it has warmed up.

Visited Portofiino's on Saturday night with the family for my daughter's 21st birthday after reviewing a number of restaurants online, this place certainly ticked all the boxes, great food, great atmosphere, and excellent value for money, would highly recommend to anyone ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

I recently dined at Portofino, and it was an unforgettable experience. The food was absolutely delicious, with authentic flavors and beautifully presented dishes. What truly made the evening special, though, was the exceptional service we received from Efe. He went above and beyond to make sure everything was perfect, offering great recommendations and ensuring we were well taken care of throughout the night. His attentiveness and friendly demeanor added a personal touch that elevated our entire dining experience. I can’t recommend Portofino enough—fantastic food and outstanding service!

Why haven't I been here before? Prawn cocktail - large portion, then the biggest pizza ever. Very reasonable price, great service, great place to go. THANKYOU PORTOFINO!

The food and service were excellent. One of the most varied and imaginative Italian menus I have seen. The lemoncello on the house to finish was a nice touch. The staff were extremely attentive. I will certainly return.

We visited here for the first time today, we all had the half pasta half pizza choice. It was all excellent, lovely staff too. Look forward to visiting again.

Harry was our waiter and was very helpful and attentive. Good was very good and the service was fast. We fully enjoyed our evening out.

The environment here is very good, and the interior decoration style is stylish. I am also very satisfied with the food here. I ordered broad noodles, which are full of ingredients and very delicious.

We visited this restaurant for lunch, and while we were initially seated without issue, the service we received afterward left us feeling uncomfortable and, frankly, discriminated against. The problem began when a staff member came to take our order. As we started ordering the starters, she interrupted mid-sentence, saying, “You’re just going to order starters, right?” We were taken aback and responded, “Pardon? We’ve got more to order,” to which she awkwardly replied, “Sorry, continue.” We shrugged it off, thinking it was a misunderstanding, but it definitely felt off. To make matters worse, we had to wait for our food for over half an hour. Looking around, there were certainly enough staff on duty, so I have no idea why it took so long for our order to arrive. It was frustrating and added to the overall negative experience. What confirmed our discomfort came when we were paying the bill. The same staff member brought over the payment device and, before we could say a word, she said, “You can pay half now and pay later if you can’t pay it all.” At that point, I was shocked and asked, “What are you on about?” She quickly backtracked, saying, “Oh, sorry, are you paying in full together?” We responded, “Yeah, what do you mean?” She then handed us the contactless device without further explanation. This entire experience made us feel incredibly uncomfortable and gave the impression that we were being discriminated against. I have no intention of ever returning to this place, and I certainly wouldn’t recommend it to anyone. Never again.

Food was amazing, but service was terrible. We felt rushed and they clearly wanted us out of there ASAP, when they had empty tables and no queue. Real shame, but I wouldn't come back.

Great service from Efe. Food was delicious and price was very reasonable. Will definitely come back.

Visited with friends. Good choice of food with excellent deals. Food was piping hot and delicious. Staff very attentive but sometimes returning to the table too frequently. Once our starter was finished, we were instantly served our main. Would have liked a break in between but this wasn't an option. The guests on the opposite table actually noticed the speed which we were being served and commented to us. At the end of the evening, we were last in the restaurant at just before 9.30pm and the staff began to turn lighting off and dim the lights very low. Perhaps next time, ask if guests would like the bill as this appeared rude.

Nice quality food, mid range and good size portions if that's what you are after

First time visit and looking forward to going back. Great food, great service, very reasonable prices. When it came to pay (by card) I had to ask how to leave a tip... they were so un-pushy!

Charged me £2 extra for a gluten free pizza. Nowhere on the menu did it mention this or was i told when ordering. Last time I came I wasn’t charged £2 extra. It is an allergy not a choice and you shouldn’t be charged for that.

First time visiting as we are visiting Harrogate but notice it the night before and liked the look of the place. Firstly the service is excellent, from being seen at the door to paying the bill and everything in between; we couldn’t have asked for more attentive staff. The food was fabulous and very reasonably priced (it’s actually cheaper than some of the well know food franchises that are round the corner). I had the Calzone pizza and my wife had a Lasagna. Both were delicious and we throughly enjoyed our meals. The atmosphere was good. Italian music playing at just the right volume and the sound of everyone having a nice time wasn’t too overpowering so you could enjoy conversation without having to shout and lip read. Complementary limoncello shots with the bill was a nice touch. Will definitely be going back again when we come back to Harrogate and would throughly recommend.

Eventhough we arrived late, after 21:00, we were seated. We were a group of 8. Kitchen was already closed but hey opened it up for pizzas only. And it did not disappoint. They were marvelous. Best calzone I had in a long time. Afterwards we got a shot of limoncello on the house. Next time I'm in Harrogate I will absolutely go here again. Quality food and service.

This place has a great atmosphere and is tastefully designed and laid out. We ate here yesterday for my mother in law’s birthday. The only thing to note was that it was absolute chaos for the first 30 mins we were in the restaurant. We arrived for our reservation on time and were seated immediately, however the servers and management were running all over the place like headless chickens trying to deal with so many people in the restaurant at once. Shortly after we arrived it looked like there was a party of 10 or so people who rocked up wanting a table. Management and wait staff were running around sourcing tables and chairs, rearranging the furniture in the middle of the packed restaurant. This resulted in us not getting menus delivered to our table, until we asked for them 20 mins later. Additionally we didn’t get served drinks until 40 mins after we’d sat down. To be fair, it was 7pm on a Saturday evening - probably the busiest time of the week for them. Just felt a little chaotic and all over the place. However, after that, we thoroughly enjoyed our experience. The food was lovely and reasonably priced. The servers were wonderful and the management are amazing for all they do. Just be aware of the potential craziness on a Saturday night!

A fantastic night, my friends birthday, they played the drum and sang happy birthday to her, gave her ice cream with a lit candle for her to blow out, a very special place, Each time we have been in there, food, people, service everything is 100 +%, could not fined a better more homely atmosphere, treat your self and friends, you will like we do love it, thank you to all the staff, fantastic place for young and not so young

Came with a friend last night. Hadn't been before but we were pleasantly surprised. Very friendly staff and lovely atmosphere too. The food was delicious and the portions were big! Two for one cocktails were very nice too.🤣 I would definitely recommend Portofino in Harrogate and we will be back. X

Portafinos is where we enjoy going as the food and service are consistently good. Efe is efficient and friendly and always makes us feel very welcome. The food is always delicious and very good value for money.

Placed our order through just eat, & when the delivery came it was the wrong order. We contacted the restaurant and was told that they don't have a way of contacting the driver. They told us we can keep the food which my wife can't eat due to allergies. They wanted us to come to the restaurant to pick our correct order up. I explained in a annoyed way that, why should we come into town to collect a order that not only did we pay for, but gave the driver a tip. Also the foreign lady on the phone hung up on me. Will never use them again.

Been many times to portofino. Never had a bad experience. Food is great and service is great.

Not capable of cooking pasta without microwave. If you don't like their spoiled pepperoni, rubber rubbish catering pallets pizza and pasta, and vinegar spoiled toilet water fake wine, and you don't want to pay then they will crowd you and pursue you even if you HADN'T EATEN MORE THAN TWO BITES AND TRY TO GRAB YOU. They are also RUSSIAN BY THEIR ACCENT, ALL OF THEM. !!!! (IN RUSSIA YOU HAVE TO PAY IF YOU DON'T EAT THE FOOD) and won't answer any questions because they are exactly practiced in English accents but not vocabulary, they ARE DEFINITELY RUSSIA'S AGENCY STAFF TRAINED. GET RID OF THESE ABSOLUTELY BLATANT FAKE ITALIAN POISONING RISK. IF THEY HAVE MORE THAN 2 HYGIENE RATING IT IS A LIE OR FRAUD, DON'T GIVE THESE CLOWNS YOUR MONEY OR YOU WILL REGRET IT!!!

We have never been disappointed when ordering from Portofino, lovely food delivered on time by polite and friendly courier.

The delivery guy has obviously dropped the delivery as the chicken dish container was dented with very little sauce left and the box of wedges had only 4 wedges in it. I complained to Just Eat only to be told the restaurant has its own recipes! I don’t think 4 chips to a portion is what I’d call a recipe. It’s a shame as the chicken was lovely

We’re served by Basat who’s a nice lady and has been really nice to us. Food is amazing, had the mixed seafood linguine, large portion!

Brilliant staff, so friendly and attentive. Great menu and lovely wine. The only downside is that it is always too hot in the restaurant. Honestly, like being boiled alive while you await your order. Please sort some ventilation!

After 2 hours, app says food has been delivered, finally. But no food has been delivered to us. Called restaurant, and was told the order was prepared...2 hours ago. We never received it. our cameras show no one has even tried to deliver anything.

Staff are friendly but service very slow. Music was very loud. Portions are very big but the quality of products could be better. However very nice to take kids to.

Me and my dad have a tradition to go here every time I have an orthodontist appointment in Harrogate and I’ve got so many happy memories of it <3

Best value for money for lunch out in Harrogate without skimping on quality and flavour. Having now been multiple times and tried several dishes, I can confidently say the portion sizes are fantastic! And the staff are seem more than happy to give me as much paramsan as I wanted which is best thing about Italian restaurants!

I made a mistake I forgot our reading glasses so struggled with the menu if only restaurants would print a little larger, food was nice it was a Monday evening so only half full ,the waitress were lovely friendly and gorgeous I got a few well deserved kicks on the shins next time slip shine pads on before leaving home

They put 2 ice cream in a bag with a large coffee. Not only that but the coffee lid was not on properly so it ended up a bag full of melted coffee flavoured ice charm which the delivery guy was trying to get me to carry through my house as it was pouring from the bottom of the van 😂😂

Great Italian restaurant and wow by lovely food.

Even though we had to wait, it was worth it. Staff were fantastic, under pressure, it was so busy. The food was amazing. My thanks to you all, can’t believe how many rude people were complaining, it didn’t take that long to get a table. Full credit to you. Highly recommended.

We visited Portofino for the first time today for a family lunch. Impeccable service, wonderfully delicious, perfectly prepared food. It is so refreshing to find a restaurant with a manager who is truly working so hard and attentively to serve the customer and inspire a young group of staff, who did an amazing job in looking after us. We will return - Portofino embodies all of the values of a great restaurant for us!

We had a table booked for 7 pm it was really busy. We placed our orders and got our starters before our drinks arrived. The starters was nice but then our main meal came and my husbands Chicken Parmo was not warm the first waitress came over whilst he was eating and ask if everything was ok he told him it was like warm he went straight over to the owner then the girl waitress came over we said the same she apologised my husband left part of his meal then the owner came over and he explained to him the same he asked why didn’t you say but he had already told two waitresses. We was not even offered a drink or anything just paid the bill. Wouldn’t return there is more Italians in Harrogate.

We were in Harrogate for the weekend so 1st time here and wasn't disappointed. We had phoned previously to book a table. It was very busy so a little wait for our table. Looked like an authentic family run business and the menu had a great choice, we decided to have the half and half pizza and pasta, absolutely beautiful, freshly cooked and ordered a portion of wedges each which were also gorgeous but we could have ordered one to share. The young man who served us went above and beyond (disappointing but we didn't catch his name) but left him a bigger tip than we normally would.

We dined here as a party of 7. We opted for the happy hour menu. None of us could fault the meals, portion sizes & the staff were fabulous too. We'll definitely be returning again .

First time here. Great experience, our server was very friendly and attentive, we had a Calzone and a Portofino pizza. Very well priced and the environment was lovely. Lacked a bit of atmosphere, maybe as it was mid afternoon and the portions were huge. Felt over faced and full to busting. Would we go back? Absolutely. Better value and service than Pizza Express or Zizi!!

Full English all day breakfast and muscles for lunch. Nicely cooked and presented and friendly service. Very reasonably priced. We didn't have a garlic bread ourselves but saw others having them and they were massive and smelt delicious. Definitely going to try one next time.

Mother's Day weekend - and Saturday night! It was so busy but the atmosphere was wonderful :-) The staff coped superbly and were always smiling and pleasant, despite the obvious pressure they were all under. Orders didn't seems to take any longer than normal (maybe just a tiny bit), which was impressive considering how very busy they were and a portion of wedges were a little over done. But this is really, really nit-picking - and actually highlights how excellent everything else was. One of our favourite places and as the recipient (Grandma/Mum <3) I loved our evening treat at Portofino.

AVOID AVOID AVOID!!! I chose this Italian because our usual place was closed and boy do I regret it. We have never experienced rudeness and ignorance from front of house and wait staff like we did here. We were made to feel like an inconvenience by the front of house staff and when our food arrived it was plonked on the table by a very bored looking young man. The toilets are disgusting, filthy, smell hideous and in a state of disrepair. The food was just OK but pricey for what it was. I can't explain just how rude the staff were, don't waste your time or money on mediocre food and really naff service.

Food was amazing, been many times before, and this has to be the best food we have had. Both had starters and mains. Service was very good too
