We recently visited a charming Italian restaurant in Harrogate, conveniently located near the bus and train stations. They serve delicious pizzas and a variety of other dishes. The service was excellent and quick, even though the place was busy, I recommend making a reservation. We went on a weekday when it wasn’t too crowded, but when we returned on the weekend, we had to wait in line. Fortunately, the wait didn’t take long. One fun option they offer is the ability to order two smaller portions of different dishes, so you can enjoy a taste of both! While we dined, we loved listening to Italian music playing in the background, which really added to the atmosphere, especially since I’m a fan of Italian tunes.

I was so disappointed with our visit to Portofino. Me and my friend had visited before and found the food good. So another shopping trip to Harrogate we decided to return. What a dumb thing to do. We choose the 2 course meal. I decided on the pate. When the starter arrived I was surprised to find a egg cup filled with pate and a egg cup filled with small prawns with Maria rose sauce on top. Whoever thought of this combination needs to shake there head. However on tasting the prawns they were watery and lacking in taste. The waitress came and asked if everything was ok . I explained my thoughts on the prawns. I do love prawns but I was defeated with these as I left the lot. She said she would knock them off the bill. As it was a 2 course meal my cost still came through at £16.99 so no reduction was made. My main course was prawn linguine. The linguine was tasteless. Counting the prawns even though larger I had 5. We paid the bill. Lesson learnt. On the way out the waitress asked if my main course was better and I had to reply no. She then said better luck next time. My reply was there definitely won't be a next time. I love food. If it's good I will always compliment. If it's bad I do give my honest opinion. Overall I think Harrogate is in desperate need of some good places to eat. Betty's have a small menu as does the Ivy.

The nicest Italian you could ever want, great food, lovely staff and the best atmosphere, so laid back and friendly, really reasonable prices too, highly recommended

Absolutely gorgeous food as always from Portofino

While it was a very enjoyable experience, I couldn't help thinking that the carbonara was a little lacking. Dry, sauce less pasta with very little bacon...... Oh, here it all is, at the bottom, yummy. Was it not served fresh into the dish, or had it been sitting and waiting ?

Visiting Harrogate, popped in this place. Sandwiched between Pizza Express and Zizzis, we decided to give it a try because it was busy and it seemed like it might offer something a bit different. I booked for dinner here on a Friday evening with my wife and daughter, to celebrate my daughter getting her first full time job. The place was already really busy when we arrived at 19:00, but we received a friendly greeting and were seated straight away. The 2-for-1 cocktail offer was much appreciated by my daughter. The service we received was amazingly good and the food was fresh and tasty, I just wish there were a few more veggie dishes on the menu. Overall, we all really enjoyed our evening and will be returning soon.

The pizza arrived cold and not sliced, I can understand to serve un cut in a restaurant but as take away to a shop a little different.

Long wait and forgot some of our food

Very personable friendly service made even better with delicious food! My partner and I have only visited a handful of times but after a particularly lovely visit a few weeks ago we will definitely be coming back more often. We were served by Efe and Sue, who surprisingly remembered our faces and were so lovely to us. The food has never been anything but delicious but we were even able to take our leftovers back with us after being over faced with big portions. We had a few cocktails also which are on a 2 for 1 deal, rare to find in Harrogate! We would like to thank the people who helped us have such a lovely date night :)

Wonderful lunch time visit. Extremely great service and friendly staff and a calm atmosphere. The young male waiter who served us was professional above his years. Efa was his name, extremely welcoming and knowledgeable young man. Food was fresh a d tasty and reasonable price, we throughly enjoyed our lunch date.

4 of us ate here on a Friday evening in January. We had booked a table for 20.00 but phoned to see if we could eat earlier and this wasn't a problem. The food is great, the atmosphere is good, the staff were friendly and efficient. We would definitely eat here again.

Large group of us attended for a family gathering. Staff were pleasant enough, however it did appear to be over run with customers and too busy for an enjoyable environment. Several of us had risotto of varying flavours but it all tasted the same. Not much flavour and I would guess made in a batch then separate toppings added for serving.

A great restaurant. We go whenever we are in Harrogate or Ripon and recommend it without hesitation. Food is delicious, cheap, and arrives very quickly. The staff are extremely friendly and easy to get along with. I really can't recommend it enough, please support this business.

Found this wonderful restaurant on a side street in Harrogate. Greeted at the door by friendly young waiter called Efe. He asked us where we would like to sit and later took our order. They had special offer on side orders which arrived extremely quick. We had lovely huge tasty pizzas for mains. Very busy place and atmosphere was lively and happy. Plenty of food for your money. Can't wait to visit again.

Arrived over an hour late, stone cold, and Just Eat customer services are refusing to give me a refund! Restaurant no help, driver rude, and customer services appalling.

When we arrived at the restaurant, it was quite busy as it was Friday eve. We didnt have to wait and were shown to our table by the lovely Basat, she was so cheery and friendly. Our drinks were served quickly and our food came in a timely manner. Basat and Efe were very attentive, checking we were happy with our meals. Me and my wife both had pasta dishes, which were delicious and hot. Excellent food and service and definately will be going back.

I'm a fussy eater but at Portofino there's such a wide variety of choices that I can always find a suitable choice. They even do English breakfasts!!

The first visit for us, but won't be our last. Only negative for me was the restaurant was slightly chilly, might go a bit later next time in hope that it has warmed up.

Visited Portofiino's on Saturday night with the family for my daughter's 21st birthday after reviewing a number of restaurants online, this place certainly ticked all the boxes, great food, great atmosphere, and excellent value for money, would highly recommend to anyone ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

The food and service were excellent. One of the most varied and imaginative Italian menus I have seen. The lemoncello on the house to finish was a nice touch. The staff were extremely attentive. I will certainly return.

Harry was our waiter and was very helpful and attentive. Good was very good and the service was fast. We fully enjoyed our evening out.

The environment here is very good, and the interior decoration style is stylish. I am also very satisfied with the food here. I ordered broad noodles, which are full of ingredients and very delicious.

We visited this restaurant for lunch, and while we were initially seated without issue, the service we received afterward left us feeling uncomfortable and, frankly, discriminated against. The problem began when a staff member came to take our order. As we started ordering the starters, she interrupted mid-sentence, saying, “You’re just going to order starters, right?” We were taken aback and responded, “Pardon? We’ve got more to order,” to which she awkwardly replied, “Sorry, continue.” We shrugged it off, thinking it was a misunderstanding, but it definitely felt off. To make matters worse, we had to wait for our food for over half an hour. Looking around, there were certainly enough staff on duty, so I have no idea why it took so long for our order to arrive. It was frustrating and added to the overall negative experience. What confirmed our discomfort came when we were paying the bill. The same staff member brought over the payment device and, before we could say a word, she said, “You can pay half now and pay later if you can’t pay it all.” At that point, I was shocked and asked, “What are you on about?” She quickly backtracked, saying, “Oh, sorry, are you paying in full together?” We responded, “Yeah, what do you mean?” She then handed us the contactless device without further explanation. This entire experience made us feel incredibly uncomfortable and gave the impression that we were being discriminated against. I have no intention of ever returning to this place, and I certainly wouldn’t recommend it to anyone. Never again.

Food was amazing, but service was terrible. We felt rushed and they clearly wanted us out of there ASAP, when they had empty tables and no queue. Real shame, but I wouldn't come back.

Visited with friends. Good choice of food with excellent deals. Food was piping hot and delicious. Staff very attentive but sometimes returning to the table too frequently. Once our starter was finished, we were instantly served our main. Would have liked a break in between but this wasn't an option. The guests on the opposite table actually noticed the speed which we were being served and commented to us. At the end of the evening, we were last in the restaurant at just before 9.30pm and the staff began to turn lighting off and dim the lights very low. Perhaps next time, ask if guests would like the bill as this appeared rude.

Nice quality food, mid range and good size portions if that's what you are after

First time visit and looking forward to going back. Great food, great service, very reasonable prices. When it came to pay (by card) I had to ask how to leave a tip... they were so un-pushy!

Charged me £2 extra for a gluten free pizza. Nowhere on the menu did it mention this or was i told when ordering. Last time I came I wasn’t charged £2 extra. It is an allergy not a choice and you shouldn’t be charged for that.

First time visiting as we are visiting Harrogate but notice it the night before and liked the look of the place. Firstly the service is excellent, from being seen at the door to paying the bill and everything in between; we couldn’t have asked for more attentive staff. The food was fabulous and very reasonably priced (it’s actually cheaper than some of the well know food franchises that are round the corner). I had the Calzone pizza and my wife had a Lasagna. Both were delicious and we throughly enjoyed our meals. The atmosphere was good. Italian music playing at just the right volume and the sound of everyone having a nice time wasn’t too overpowering so you could enjoy conversation without having to shout and lip read. Complementary limoncello shots with the bill was a nice touch. Will definitely be going back again when we come back to Harrogate and would throughly recommend.

Eventhough we arrived late, after 21:00, we were seated. We were a group of 8. Kitchen was already closed but hey opened it up for pizzas only. And it did not disappoint. They were marvelous. Best calzone I had in a long time. Afterwards we got a shot of limoncello on the house. Next time I'm in Harrogate I will absolutely go here again. Quality food and service.

This place has a great atmosphere and is tastefully designed and laid out. We ate here yesterday for my mother in law’s birthday. The only thing to note was that it was absolute chaos for the first 30 mins we were in the restaurant. We arrived for our reservation on time and were seated immediately, however the servers and management were running all over the place like headless chickens trying to deal with so many people in the restaurant at once. Shortly after we arrived it looked like there was a party of 10 or so people who rocked up wanting a table. Management and wait staff were running around sourcing tables and chairs, rearranging the furniture in the middle of the packed restaurant. This resulted in us not getting menus delivered to our table, until we asked for them 20 mins later. Additionally we didn’t get served drinks until 40 mins after we’d sat down. To be fair, it was 7pm on a Saturday evening - probably the busiest time of the week for them. Just felt a little chaotic and all over the place. However, after that, we thoroughly enjoyed our experience. The food was lovely and reasonably priced. The servers were wonderful and the management are amazing for all they do. Just be aware of the potential craziness on a Saturday night!

A fantastic night, my friends birthday, they played the drum and sang happy birthday to her, gave her ice cream with a lit candle for her to blow out, a very special place, Each time we have been in there, food, people, service everything is 100 +%, could not fined a better more homely atmosphere, treat your self and friends, you will like we do love it, thank you to all the staff, fantastic place for young and not so young

Portafinos is where we enjoy going as the food and service are consistently good. Efe is efficient and friendly and always makes us feel very welcome. The food is always delicious and very good value for money.

Not capable of cooking pasta without microwave. If you don't like their spoiled pepperoni, rubber rubbish catering pallets pizza and pasta, and vinegar spoiled toilet water fake wine, and you don't want to pay then they will crowd you and pursue you even if you HADN'T EATEN MORE THAN TWO BITES AND TRY TO GRAB YOU. They are also RUSSIAN BY THEIR ACCENT, ALL OF THEM. !!!! (IN RUSSIA YOU HAVE TO PAY IF YOU DON'T EAT THE FOOD) and won't answer any questions because they are exactly practiced in English accents but not vocabulary, they ARE DEFINITELY RUSSIA'S AGENCY STAFF TRAINED. GET RID OF THESE ABSOLUTELY BLATANT FAKE ITALIAN POISONING RISK. IF THEY HAVE MORE THAN 2 HYGIENE RATING IT IS A LIE OR FRAUD, DON'T GIVE THESE CLOWNS YOUR MONEY OR YOU WILL REGRET IT!!!

Placed our order through just eat, & when the delivery came it was the wrong order. We contacted the restaurant and was told that they don't have a way of contacting the driver. They told us we can keep the food which my wife can't eat due to allergies. They wanted us to come to the restaurant to pick our correct order up. I explained in a annoyed way that, why should we come into town to collect a order that not only did we pay for, but gave the driver a tip. Also the foreign lady on the phone hung up on me. Will never use them again.
