The best restaurants in Bedale Hambleton Yorkshire and The Humber

We were a family group of 6 and the meal was a fathers day gift. We arrived and were shown to our table and given menus. As it was Sunday we all chose from a selection of the Roast meats on offer, although the menu included a good selection of other meals too. We can honestly say it was the best meal out we have had out in ages. The food was cooked to perfection and the owners and waiting staff were friendly and attentive. We could not have asked for more. Thank you all so much and we will highly recommend to others and visit you again.

Josh and Nikki have taken over this lovely 17th century Inn, rooms are small but comfortable. The owners provide a warm, friendly atmosphere and an excellent breakfast. The beer range has been improved is delightful. It's a great place to stay in Bedale.

After a visit to the Polar Express we decided The Reuben’s looked like a good option for dinner. Oh how wrong we were, the food was dreadful, our children opted for the home made Pizza with chips and beans, they took one bite of the pizza and that was it. It didn’t look great and after trying it myself I couldn’t bring myself to force the children to eat anymore. My wife had the beef pie and that was poor with poor quality meat and the pastry was rock hard, the accompanying veg was also dry and some of the carrots were black. I had the Lamb Curry, the meat in it was tough and more like mutton and the curry itself was not very tasty at all. I decided to finish with a latte that tasted like hot water with frothy milk! Onto the service, not once were we asked how our meal was and given the waitress took every plate back to the kitchen with at least 50% of the food remaining on the plates, my first question would have been was everything okay with your meal. But nope the waitress did not enquire if everything was okay, my wife even said to the waitress that the kids food was inedible which the waitress did not acknowledge! The service was slow and the staff not very attentive focusing more on the locals in the bar. Whilst waiting to order we enquired as to what the soup was the waitress wasn’t sure and went off to find out never to return with the answer! I am not one to complain and have never left a review of anything previously but given our experience was so poor I felt compelled to write this review.

Living locally we use Thomas The Baker fairly often and find their rolls tasty and good value for money- their Wensleydale Cheese and chutney roll is my favourite. Staff are friendly. Would recommend.

I came here with mam for a cuppa, though partly because another place up the street had closed - at half 2! This is a nice little place with disabled access and a mixed toilet, which I didn't have an issue with. They had just stopped serving food when we got there but we weren't hungry anyway after a cooked breakfast at Mainsgill on the A66.

Highly recommend this pub to anyone wanting amazing food, clean, welcoming staff and dog friendly… this is the place! Still eating whilst I write this as the food is sooo good. We are just passing through on a long dog walk and found this place, 5 stars. Thank you!

Awful service. McDonald’s app picked up wrong location so I was waiting 25 minutes to be told that I had to re-order instead of them just giving me the food that I paid for. I was told that the money for the original order would not come out of my bank but now it has, staff unbothered and not helpful in the slightest ended up spending £20 for a cheeseburger meal no one to speak to now to get money back 👎🏼👎🏼

The staff were extremely friendly and went above and beyond for any request we had. Nothing was too much effort.

Ordered a takeaway from here with some trepidation given the mixed reviews but thankfully I was pleasantly surprised. Ordered online and collected 20 mins later without any fuss. My order was ready and waiting. Firstly the portion sizes were large! We ordered crispy beef, chicken curry, noodles, chips and fried rice and easily got two meals out of it. Both the beef and curry were absolutely spot on. The rice and noodles however were a bit bland but not to the point of not being edible or anything. Maybe just went sparingly on the MSG! Overall would I go again? Absolutely. Ignore the poor reviews and try yourself.

Ordered a Meat Box with chips, food arrived and most of the meat was burnt, donner meat was cold, chips were soggy and cold. Phoned them up straight away, no offer of apology, just said we’ll send another…..NO THANKS. There’s a reason why the reviews are so bad for this place and we found out to our cost, won’t make the same mistake again. Will NEVER order from there again.
