New Right Choice in Hambleton

Got a takeaway yesterday, ordered online, friendly staff when collected. Excellent Value for money, massive portions and tasted great.

I agree with some of the bad reviews. This Chinese did change hands and went down hill. But I've used them a few times recently and the owners have got things back on point. No complaints from me at the moment. Definitely had some good dishes recently 👍

I was worried after reading the recent reviews but we were camping in the area so decided to give it a go anyway. Placed the order online and it was ready for collection on time. The food was delicious, hot and all the dishes were really tasty. Would not hesitate to order again next time we are in the area.

Absolute rubbish.....food very poor and far to expensive 😢. Will not be going again !

Hello and welcome back to our channel. Today we visited Bedale, i must say i much prefer Cedale. This Chinese is called ‘The right choice’ but whether it was the right choice is questionable (unless you was starving and a dog had bitten off your arm then it may be the right choice). I wouldn’t say it was the wrong choice but was it the right choice? We ordered the usual, if you are OG fans like many of you are then you will already know our order and those who don’t know, get to know, or don’t we don’t care because our fanbase is so loyal and large you might not have room to get in. The building was almost as big as my thumb, it was squished between 2 irrelevant shops that nobody has ever been in but we managed to find it thanks to our thinking caps and sniffer the dog who embarked on this journey with us. Legend. Once inside this dwarfy establishment we came across 2 average sized looking humans who we can only assume worked there, they were absolutely lovely people and the order came quick, quirky and quiz night. I would give them 5 star for service but unfortunately the world doesn’t revolve around her. The first thing on our a gender (prefer not to say) is the chips, they needed an extra 5.27 minutes more in the fryer I believe, I am no fryer expert but I have been a bin man for 12 years so take that how you will. They were slightly undercooked and could have done with a bit more seasoning but luckily it’s just turned autumn. Pros : they looked like salt and pepper chips, cons : they didn’t taste much like salt and pepper chips, just chips. Gold star for participation though and trying your best. The next thing we had was noodles with extra beansprouts. The salt and pepper chickin’ was pretty finger lickin’ to say the least. The chicken was moist, like my hamster, RIP Hambleton the Hamster III. Dave kebab should have looked him better, if you’re on an OG fan you’ll know Dave kebab is our auntie. There was lots of onions and peppers which we appreciated because we like peppers and onions. The chicken was decent and the best part of our meal, we thoroughly enjoyed it and would eat this chicken, however we cannot eat this chicken again because we have already eaten and also because we live over 5 hours away in Wales, I would recommend to my aunt Margaret who lives in Zedale but she probably won’t come here because she passed away last August, RIP auntie Margarita. The sweet and sour sauce pot was bigger than anything I’ve ever seen before, including my bath. It was very nice but it was more sour and sweet rather than sweet and sour, please do something to improve this. Overall, this is a nice chinese and would recommend to people in the area, the staff are lovely and ignore the other bad reviews they are liars and not chinese experts like ourselves, this is not the best ever but not the worse definitely as we have been to over 223 chineses in our lives but if this was the only one I’d tried it’d be my favourite one. Over and out you beagle eyed bedalians. Love. Peace. Respect.

Used to be brilliant (up to 2023) but more recently the quality of the food has taken a real nose dive. It's a lottery these days so good luck and hope you win...🤞

This is the second time ordering from here since it’s changed hands / name. It has been awful both times, it’s like floor sweepings that have been over fried, ordered prawn dishes & they definitely weren’t prawn! I won’t be ordering again

Used this take away for a few year , since been taken over got a bit pricy, the rice has been over cooked for the last 4 visits (Stodgy ) , must be batch cooked along with the chips and re heated , as they are getting tough so will need to find a decent Chinese takeaway over Thirsk way that'll get our weekly orders, sometimes twice a week ! Decent staff, just a shame about the decline of the food.

Nice food but wouldn't like to try and feed a family at those prices.

After reading review from some I nearly did not use this takeaway but I can honestly say the meal was beautiful the lady who served me was very pleasant some people need to understand its very hard for chinese people to communicate with English I have used many takeaways in many different towns I would say this one deserves the stars I give it .

Best Chinese food in the area by far! They were closed for months earlier in the year so we tried many other Chinese takeaways nearby, including Leyburn (horrific!!), Ripon and Romanby that didn't even come close! So glad they're open again. We always get Singapore chow mein, crispy king do chicken and chips, gravy and fried rice together. Make sure you order as soon as they open or you'll be waiting hours!

Watered down curry sauce in two curry dishes, sweet and sour sauce tasteless, Sammy this is the worst Chinese I've ever had from your place. Sort it out or you'll lose a lot of custom. I eat here most weeks.

After waiting 40 minutes food was so dry.never again, should of stayed closed.

Top notch food, feeds 4 for under £50, not oily and really flavoursome. 20 mins and able to pay on card. Great takeaway for a quick dinner.

Duck was ok but no plum sauce. Good portion size. Quite expensive in comparison to other local takeaways.

Went on a Tuesday night for a takeaway and the food was really poor! One person in our party had a chicken chow mein and was poorly for 2 days after! Only thing that seems ok was the sweet and sour Chicken balls!! It really is a shame that it has gone down hill!

Shocking...all I will say is stay within easy reach of a loo after a few hours..tasted OK at the time of eating..very disappointing.

Just had a sirloin steak for under a tenner... Incredible value for money... Proper plate full of seriously good food 😋 thanks guys

Decent food but took 30 mins on a Wednesday night which was quite long !

Will someone PLEASE open a nice Chinese restaurant in Bedale!!! The old Spar premises further down the high street would be perfect! This place needs putting out of its misery and closing down. We live in Bedale and very very occasionally go for a takeaway as there is nothing else close by and just keep hoping that things will improve, but sadly not! They have a Food Standards rating of 2 which they don't display (surprise surprise). This should be mandatory in England!

Chicken and mushroom with boiled rice . Inedible think they must of put a ton of salt in it . Disgusting . Wrote a message but no response and couldn't get through on phone . Not be going here again

Great food, cooked perfectly. Would not go elsewhere. After trying a few these are the one I will stick with.

Might be worth hiring some counter staff that are not half asleep when answering the phone and actually listen to what your ordering ordered food asked if the price was right as was more than normal was told yes got back to leeming bar to find the mushroom fried rice was not mushroom fried rice was special fried rice phoned had to drive back to swap it then to get back to dish up the chicken curry that we ordered no veg in and guess what full off onions Shame as the food is alright but will just go to northallerton in future

It has been many years since I have had a takeaway from here but I sincerely hope it won't be as long till the next time. I had the chicken chow mein, and it was amazing, whilst my partner had sweet and sour chicken and he raved about it afterwards. I cannot fault the quality of the food, the service, the price or the wait for the order to be ready and would thoroughly recommend this establishment.

Lord alone where the other reviewers eat. This was a perfectly functional and tasty Chinese. Decent value, reasonable wait (20 minutes from ordering at the only Chinese in that part of the country at 6pm on a Friday). Seriously don’t know what or where the other reviewers eat. Glad I chose to ignore the negative reviews. This was good takeaway..

Pretty disappointed for the only Chinese takeaway in the area. Chips weren’t that good and the sweet and sour sauce was like water. It’s a real shame it wasn’t any better, as I have to travel to Northallerton for a Chinese or have to switch to a pizza if local.

Quite nice, a lot better than I thought it was going to be reading some of the reviews. Quite fast on making food as well on busy nights. Think they might need a dual phone line though as sometimes it's hard to get through.

Ok only chinese takeaway in bedale but eat at your peril....both me and both parents rushing to toilet....had 3 mains and 3 starters.....previous time I was similar Avoid like the Plague and a kebab from kebab shop much safer!!!!

DO NOT use this takeaway, This is the second time I have had a bad meal from there. Last Saturday night I ordered Special Satay and on getting home, I took the lid off and the meal smelt as though there was some sort of chemical in the meal, seemed like chlorine too me and I have been having sickness and the runs ever since.AVOID AVOID AVOID

We went to the New Right Choice on a Saturday evening (early) and it was busy...very busy.We ordered; the chap said it would be 30 minutes: we went for a pint & it was, indeed, 30 minutes-no problem there.I had chicken & prawn sweet and sour (Hong Kong style, of course) and girlfriend had a special curry; a bit of everything!We shared fried rice and chip portions, as well.This food was good, very good indeed, with quality ingredients, very generous portions of meat & prawn- I have never seen pieces of chicken as long in a sweet & sour in my life, thought it might be a Moa or a Roc on offer.I do not complain, it was majestic.The girlfriend’s curry also hit the spot.No question, this venue was indeed the right choice in Bedale.

Overpriced and no flavour at all. Ordered 2 meals and both rubbish. Plus the lad working in the shop is obnoxious. Will be driving up to Catterick village instead

Took a good while and considerable patience to get through for a telephone order which we were told would be ready for collection at 7:15pm. Arrived at 7:15 and asked if it was ready to which I was told, “Erm no, not yet.” Several other people had been waiting a good while too, with one still there at 7:35 after being told hers would be ready at 7. Whilst there the telephone continued to ring and the girl answering it repeated that the wait time was now 1 hour and 5 minutes. The young man who was doing the serving told her it was actually a waiting time of 1 hour 20 minutes to which she replied, “I know but that sounds better doesn’t it!” I can forgive the extra 30 minutes waiting time that I had to endure before I was finally served, especially if it was an unforeseeably busy time, but to blatantly lie to customers, well within earshot of other customers that you have presumably also lied to is unforgivable. Will use Leyburn takeaway in future.

Calling ahead to order was problemsome as person taking order lacked much English understanding. Chowmein full of mushrooms literally full of them without them it would have been nice. Curry and fried rice was average but the chips were awful looked like they’d been fried 3x over worse I’ve had. Takeaway was clean enough so that’s something.

Just smashed my food from Right choice and as Chinese food goes it is absolutely banging. I have been all over the UK and Ireland and to be honest with you it's one of the best. I did have to wait an hour but it was worth the wait. Well worth a try if your local or visiting the area.

Food was ok but service appalling. Ordered rice and curry at 6.30pm and was told it would be ready by 7.10pm. Hung around until 7.30pm and the food was finally done. The young lad behind the counter was surly and ignorant and offered no customer service. Unbelievably they do not take card payments on Friday as they only have one phone line.

Ordered two dishes and were told it would take 40 minutes. Ended up waiting for another 20 minutes, there was no apology and the member of staff didn’t seem to care. All you want is a smile and a bit of customer service but maybe because this takeaway has the monopoly in Bedale they don’t feel the need to bother!

Having taken 10 mins of calling to get through - over 60 redials - place our order at 18:10... told it would be 19:00 for 2 dishes... ok fair enough... 19:30 still waiting in shop for food having been told that phone orders are put to the back if the line over online orders... this is disgraceful service from a shop which I've know and used for 30 years!!! Will not be back...

Ruined my takeaway experiece. I ordered with double confirmation, even then got wrong order. You can imagine how it feels when you order takeaway for friends and having to discard off whithout having a single thing. ordered Salt and pepper items and they bestowed super sweet items. Super worst experience. I would never have takeaway from here again. Wasted my money and time. Rang them back and they said they dont do salt and pepper items. What? Kidding...

Excellent meal. Large choice. You may want to ring your order thru first. It is so popular with the local area. But If you can’t phone your order first it is worth the wait.

Fantastic takeaway - you can tell, because it is busy - we usually call ahead - great choice of dishes, delicious, priced right, friendly and quick. What more do you need!!

Tasty food at a reasonable price

During our stay in beadle the takeaway was closed for a few days for refurbishments. When it reopened we telephoned our order in for collection. The young English lad quoted us that it would be ready in 30 mins. When I arrived for collection the shop was full .Many had not telephoned in so were waiting for there orders. My order was finally provided 20 mis later.

Esta noche, buscan un Chino que llamamos y pedimos la comida. Casa Especial arroz frito pedimos sin langostinos y un pollo al curry con papas fritas. Mi esposo viajamos el 6 millas para recoger la comida. Cuando llegamos a casa, yo servidas, y sentó deseando - sólo para descubrir que los langostinos y la carne que estaba totalmente comestible, incluso el perro tomó convincente para comer! . Nos llamó para quejarse y sólo me dijeron que por el hombre, que él había escrito nuestro pedido indicando No langostinos y que regresara la comida para ser hecho de nuevo - esta vez como habíamos dicho. Él ni siquiera disculparse o parece afectado de ninguna manera! Esto podría haber resultado en un muy grave resultado si este no había sido reconocido. Necesidades dietéticas especiales si se requiere NO CONFÍES EN ESTE LLEVAR

The Right Choice is well named as it is simply the best Chinese take away I have ever visited. if you live locally I would recommend ringing your order in as the queues can be long in testament to it's quality.

Food is great but wish it was a bit cheaper

What a fantastic little take away. The food is really very superb and modestly priced. If I could, I'd go back again and again and again... (but then again, I'd probably be very, very overweight!) Yorkshire's best-kept secret? Certainly the tastiest!

We had a take away tonight from Right Choice it was first class. Very tasty with decent quantity of food. Paid £20 for 3 main courses and 2 rice which were very good. Will definitely return.

Organizó un servicio de comida para llevar hace un par de fines de semana para mi familia. Muy desorganizado con muchos clientes frustrados. Todos los platos no eran muy sabrosos, aunque eran grandes porciones!

Not very happy paid £9.50 for crispy duck and pancakes that was half lettuce and duck and was really fatty bloody ridiculous paying that much and not even getting what I wanted proper let down

All the food is the same. No fresh vegetables just onions, bamboo shoots water chestnuts and mushrooms.

Excellent food. Cooked well. Very tasty. Moderately priced. Would recommend very highly and would DEFINITELY come here again. (A pity we were only on holiday!)

Decent, healthy Chinese food and unlike other reviews said we suffered no ill effects after eating. Large portions and price was fine. Easier than going out of Bedale for a Chinese so good in that respect too.

I purchased a takeaway Chinese meal on Friday 22nd July 2016. The meal was reasonably priced and plentiful. I ordered by telephone and the meal was ready for collection at the time I gave. The food was lovely. I have no hesitation in using the takeaway again and recommend them to anyone visiting Bedale !!

Stopping over in the area and had a craving for Chinese. Reviews weren't great, but but took a punt. The food I got was excellent, Singapore fried rice was nice n spicy, great flavour and lots of added ingredients. Asked for crispy fried beef, I they called it something else. Either way that was tasty too, would have preferred more chilli but I guess not all want that and I could have asked. Portion size excellent and price was good too. Would recommend and if back in the area will visit again.

Contrary to some of the reviews ive read here, my wife and I have a meal from here very often . Although i agree with the comments about an odd bland dish,not everyone wants big wow bangy flavours all the time and there are enough lovely big flavoured dishes in the extensive menu to cater for all! If i had a critisism we're just missing the sit down Chinese experience in Bedale.

Ate here for years then moved a few miles to a place with another Chinese. Now I can compare. Food is acceptable, portions are smaller and dearer than nearest other Chinese takeaway. The food is usually quite tasty though and staff are very friendly. Avoid phoning at peak times as it can take 40 mins to get through. Now I have had Chinese food from Northallerton I won't be going back, I'm afraid.

It is the only Chinese in Bedale so the only choice but the food is nice, I have never had a bad Chinese from then.What really winds me up is when you ring to place an order and the phone just rings and rings and they don't answer as they say they are too busy. Or even more annoying when they take the phone off the hook. If you do get through ok then it's worth it but it's sometimes impossible to get an answer

Not sure where everyone else has been eating but we ordered assorted meals for 10 hungry people and while we had to wait for service due to it's popularity (It was the BAM Fest Saturday) it was well worth it. The portions were large, which might account for some higher prices, but it was all delicious and we were extremely satisfied with the food.We would certainly get food from there again.

Just had a chinese takeaway tried to ring no answer walked in theres a que out the door. Reason there is 1 guy very busy behind the counter not answering the phone and writing all the prices down and adding them up wrong. Speed it up with a calculator and you won't get it wrong like my order £47 which was really £37. After collecing my meal which was quite quick portions good size apart from the duck, extra shredded lettuce at the bottom to make it look more. All food was very bland and chow mein just looks the same as the chop suey? If some opens another chinese in bedale instead of indians ££££££££.

Not only will you need a bank loan to afford something off of this menu you will also need to be able to afford good medical insurance.

I'm absolutely disgusted with this place! I ordered chicken curry and egg fried rice, the chicken tasted foul and was very dark in colour and very chewy, so I can only assume it was the cheapest, oldest, thigh meat they could find. The rice was slightly below average with the odd mouthful tasting uncooked, but the curry sauce is overly spicy (probably to hide the taste of the chicken). As the title mentions, 5 hours after eating (and having nothing else to eat since lunch) I started having chronic stomach pain, fever and diarrhea that lasted all night and here I am sat in bed typing this on my laptop, having to have a day off work, feeling very weak, ill and annoyed. This place really does need closing down, as I'm not the only reviewer to have had some kind of food poisoning from this place!!!

For starters it's called 'The right choice'. Also it's the only Chinese around unless you fancy driving all the way to Northallerton, which is probably why it's still open. I ordered Char sui pork fried rice, what I think I got was beef in some kind of gravy which was not char sui tasting at all, which served to add flavour to the bland rice. My other half had lemon chicken which tasted a bit better, if extremely vinegary. Like fish and chips but chicken and rice. Also we both had upset stomachs the next day. Won't be going again!
