Kwong Tung Express in Hambleton

Just been served the worst Chinese meal I have ever had. I can cook better. If they set out to serve up a meal that had no taste and chicken as dry as it could be, with a large ladle of “gravy” on top (gravy like a Sunday dinner) they have achieved what they aimed for. Utterly appalling. And to be offered a discount on my next meal…… I don’t think so. Just refund my money please, yes the card payment even though the little sign says “sorry no card payment machine tonight, cash only” Hmmmmm DONT WASTE YOUR MONEY PEOPLE

The best in Northallerton.The food is always lovely. Tried others but very disappointing.This is definitely the place for me, and will will stick to my local Twong Tung Chinese. Thanks another lovey sweet an sour So enjoying tonight.

Had some friends over so ordered some food. Lady on phone took the order and were still waiting for the delivery. Won't be using again

While not bland, the takeaway meal wasn't the tastiest I've ever had, and I've had a few. Of more concern to me was that while waiting at the counter, my wife and I were able to overhear a lady customer calling in to order takeaway food. She was paying by card, and the gentleman taking the details had his phone on 'speaker'. We heard the customer's full card number, expiry date, and security number. The card didn't work, and though confused, the customer went on to relate the full details of another card. Whatever the food tastes like, please don't pay over the phone if ordering at any fast food establishment, especially where the person taking your details repeats every number. Of course, the customer wouldn't know if they were on speaker, but it's probably not something we might consider.

Just had their Sweet n Sour Chicken HK Style. Tasted gorgeous and a really good sized portion too! Even the Fried Rice was spot on. Can highly recommend

I'm a fairly regular customer. Probably kind of dull, but I generally order a bit of a small range of dishes. One of them involves garlic and chilli. Tonight I forgot to ask for the dish to be chilli free. One of the chefs stuck his head round the corner and asked if I was the guy who didn't like spice. Yep. How cool is that!?

Ordered a chop suey from here 3 nights ago and have been ill ever since. I have never gotten food poisoning like this before and have been throwing up, having painful sharp cramps, tossing and turning unable to sleep and getting hot flushes. Terrible. Will never be ordering from here again.

Great little take away, staff are very friendly, great food, salt and pepper chips are spot on. Lovely curry sauce. With Covid-19 restrictions they are doing a great service. Phone orders only, pay over the phone. Home delivery on a Saturday evening was an hour which considering it took me over 20 minutes to get through on the phone I thought was great. UPDATE 1: Had a bit of a run with incorrect orders lately, chips instead of rice, or missing portions of rice all together. Disappointing. One star off and I’m going to take a break from using them. UPDATE 2 : The quality of the food has changed, no longer the go to place in Northallerton. Staying away for a bit. UPDATE3 :after a long break from here, we gave it another go. This place is just getting worse. Stay clear.

Having read the reviews I was looking forward to a meal from here. But this was to be a one time only visit. From the arrival to a small cramped location, to the quality of the ingredients I will not be returning. Most of the meal ordered ended up in the bin. Not recommended and not to be repeated.

Have been ordering from here for years and has been consistent great food, I usually order singapore vermicelli which is really nice and recommend ,but every other dish has been realy great to!

After using this place for over 20years tonight's meal was the worst I have had anywhere. Spare ribs were mainly fat, and the little meat on them was over cooked. The king doo chicken dry and way too salty. Sorry won't be using you again until some major changes and quality returns. Sammy you can and have previously done far better.

I should start by saying that I have been a regular Kwong Tung for at least 20+ years and until today I have never had any cause for complaint. Normally I collect my order, but today (for once) thought I would try delivery. The lady who answered the phone had a great deal of difficulty locating my address despite the fact that it is a local village and I had given her the postcode. She Kept breaking off my order to talk to other customers in the shop. When she finally came back to me, the bill was significantly more than I expected. I suspect that an extra delivery charge beyond the stated £1.50 had been added because she was unsure sure of my location. Despite this I decided to proceed. I was then told that she could give me no idea of when I could expect delivery. When I suggested 1 hour or 2? I was told no idea. At this point exasperation and irritation was beginning to set in, so I said would it be easier if I collected this? Her reply was “You could have told me that in the first place” She then disappeared again, at which point I had had enough and hung up. I can appreciate that Friday nights are busy, but this was not at all customer friendly, not to say bloody rude. I can put up with a lot, but not a bad attitude and manners. Given that there are 2 other excellent Chinese Takeaways in town I would suggest that they remember that they are dealing with (and trying to keep) their customers If they find delivery so difficult and a hassle, then don’t do it. Sorry to say that it will be a long time before I go back to Kwong Tung.

Popped in last night after work and ordered deep fried won tons, special curry, kung po chicken and cashew nuts, 2 fried rice and chips. It was all delicious especially the won tons - they are huge and soooooooo tasty. Sammy will always do my main course with no veg and the kung po chicken was lovely. Could eat it again tonight. Roll on next time.

Delivery was an hour late... prawn crackers tasted old, bbq ribs were in a brown greasy sauce with no flavour, house special chow mien tasted of same greasy brown gravy ribs came in, sweet and sour Hong Kong pork heavily flavoured like sweet vinegar....will not use again...

Amazing food here, would say it is the best takeaway in town! Only thing I would say is that orders are always a little late. However, all good things come to those who wait!!

As a family we have eaten at this takeaway for over 20 years and the food is always delicious. The owners are also wonderful people who care about their customers as much as their food. I cannot recommend this place enough!

We go to this shop regularly and it’s consistently nice food it’s not high cuisine but it is one of the nicest takeaways for Chinese I have found in my travels.

Had such a good experience here last night - the lady taking the orders was amazing - said food would take about 20 minutes (they were super busy) and when we walked past about 10 minutes later she actually came out to give us our food! Satay was a little salty for me personally but good sized portions of rice and chow mein - overall I'd definitely come back here if I was in the area

Just telephone to place an order at 4:40 and heard a man in the background shouting "TELL HIM TO F++K OFF WE DONT TAKE ORDERS UNTIL 5" ... Then don't answer the phone then ... absolutely disgusted !!!

Had to collect food on a rainy Sunday evening as delivery was 2 hrs. Absolutely brilliant food! Tasty, hot, plenty without being overly, pleasant staff.

Had 4 amazing takeaways from here , just had delivery and this place gets better. King prawn and duck dishes are a must , so many prawns and the duck is out of this world , excellently cooked and plenty of it. Without a doubt will not be going anywhere else. After many many years of ordering takeaways from this Chinese, the standards have been maintained brilliantly! The staff are very friendly and look after us very well, the food is even better and we will continue to use this Chinese! Super fast delivery service too. Big well done, I highly recommend!

Always used this take away but feel very let down tonight .Incomplete order..told to go collect chips if we wanted them...despite having used delivery service! Food was not its usual standard..and the chow mein was hot on top and cold on bottom. After years of supporting this business..feel its time for a change ..wont be back!

Cannot fault this place, 99/100 this place is open, just not tonight, still a blooming good takeaway. A menu variety to suit all tastes.

We always have the same from this take away when we have family to stay, my nephew loves the crispy king doo chicken ( as we all do) always fresh food and consistently good.

After using this Chinese for over 20 years tonight was the last straw !!!! We always order by phone and collect, we were told 20 minutes after going and waiting a further 20 minutes we finally got the food. Opening the dishes it was a total onion fest !!! I have never seen so much onion bulking the dishes out. One of the dishes was King Prawns with garlic butter, no garlic butter just mono sodium glutamate The other 2 dishes were absolutely tasteless. Needless to say I will never be returning.

Called in after a late hospital appointment at the Friarage. Food was served quickly and was delicious. Also given free prawn crackers. Enough curry to have 2 meals out of it. Meat was lovely and tender and the won tons are the best I've had.

Gone downhill in quality. Had the chiu yim ribs which seem to have had the meat painted on. Overcooked and dried out. Be a long time before I go back.

Today I tried this place for the first time!... I really really like it, I will definitely will be trying more of their dishes. Totally recommendable. I'm posting their menu, but make sure to double check with them when you order.

Cannot fault the restaurant - food is good and well wrapped to keep hot - preparation time also good - especially if you phone in your order.

Best singapore chow mein you'll ever taste

We tried the place in town that we used before - No answer on the phone. I found another place online - Machine message saying they were closed tonight. Almost giving up and having pie and chips instead , I gave this lot a go.... We were VERY impressed by the meal all round! Hong Kong Chicken was lovely, Crispy Beef was nice and saucy (not just the same sauce used in other dishes) and not like the crunchy popcorn that you sometimes get. Curry was nice and thick and had a hearty portion of Veg in. The person answering the call was efficient, and delivery came within 30 minutes. Excellent all round!

No habían probado Kwong Tung durante unos años, creo que olvidarte de que está allí, con ser justo al final de la arcada. Quedé muy sorprendido de lo bien que estaba la comida, además puedes ver que es recién preparados. El servicio era, cómo puedo ponerlo, más funcional que amable. Me di cuenta en el menú que también la llevan, por lo que puede bien hacer uso de ellas más a menudo ahora.

Never had a bad take out from here - while I wouldn't consider it the best in town there we've used them a lot with no issues.

Just had chicken Maryland and have got to say it was horrible!! Chicken was so tough you could barely cut it !! And the gravy tasted like burnt garlic ! Very disappointed

Twice received wrong order for takeaway food, went all the way back and received no apology on either occasion. Wouldn't recommend.

I fancied a Chinese take away for my supper tonight so Wendy to Kwoug Tung, I placed my order and while I waited one of the staff appeared in a filthy greasy tee shirt. I look round and noticed that the place was mingling.

Visitaremos Northallerton en ocasiones, pero siempre Kwong Tung Express. La comida siempre es excelente. Simplemente las mejores chino llevar que ir a cualquier parte. Creo que hemos tenido durante los últimos años. Decir que mi esposa y mi hijo exactamente lo mismo. En nuestra última visita nos tenía el curry y huevo frito arroz especial (x2), y carne y pimientos verdes en salsa negra de granos. Mi hijo quería volver la noche siguiente y probar algo diferente. Dice que nunca.

I've been here several times on multiple occasions during the odd visit to Northallerton. It's simply the best Chinese takeaway that we've ever been too. Superb quality, and fast, friendly service.

Mi marido y yo hemos estado recibiendo llevar desde aquí durante unos 15 años. Hemos tenido el cutre comida rara pero como norma la comida es genial. No me gusta cebollas y siempre pide una comida sin ellos, lo que no es un problema. El Deep fried ganó toneladas son exuberantes!

Reasonbly priced. Good chips. Good gravy. Beautiful hong kong style sweet and sour chicken. Would highly recommend to anyone
