Josh and Nikki have taken over this lovely 17th century Inn, rooms are small but comfortable. The owners provide a warm, friendly atmosphere and an excellent breakfast. The beer range has been improved is delightful. It's a great place to stay in Bedale.

Characterful old pub with guest rooms. Recently refurbished to a good standard. Staff were very friendly and helpful. However, they don't serve food so you have to walk round the corner across the main road and market place to the Green Dragon. Breakfast is pre ordered the day before and served 8.30 to 9.30. The guest rooms are accessed via two staircases. Both are steep. One is inside the pub so can be used during opening hours. The other, steeper, staircase has it's own door on the street. There isn't any parking. Double yellow lines outside the entrance and no vehicle access behind. You have to use the market place or public carpark. The market place on the main road requires a disc, readily available. You have 2 hours between 8am and 6pm. The car can be moved anywhere in the area every two hours. The parking attendant is very keen. Bedale is a busy market town with cafes and shops galore. Other pubs serve food and there and two Indian restaurants. If you have any mobility issues you will struggle with the stairs.

Had a drink in here today and it's under new management, however, given the look they are going for I'm sure it will be great.

Nice rooms, good food at the sister pub, The Green Dragon (which is 200 yards away). Would stay there again.

Stayed for one night as I was viewing a property in the area. Very friendly welcome, ended the evening chatting with Rob and Sara, which was very enjoyable. Woke up to a fantastic breakfast, perfect stay. Heartily recommend.

Why do staff In the Thirsk branch not wear disposable gloves when making bacon and sausage sandwiches? How do I know the lady who served me hadn't just picked her nose or not washed her hands from visiting the bathroom? She also had really long hair, that wasn't tied up and dangled over the front of her in the direction of my bacon butty! Do you think this is acceptable?

Absolutely incredible Wedding and Events venue. This historic house has all the Georgian charm you'd expect but with a twist. A pink bar with ostrich feather style chandeliers, massive gold glitter ball, the staircase is just WOW, and the wedding suite is pure luxury. Even the entrance to the gents toilets is something to behold, whilst the ladies has a secret Prosecco tap squirrelled away in a cabinet for your girlies to enjoy as they powder their nose! The stately Vinery has more chandeliers than you can imagine, finished off with a giant golden disco ball, state of the art lighting system and views across the rolling hills of north yorkshire. Outside is a beautiful terrace with a variety of seating and a giant chess set, along with festoon lighting. It really is something out of this world!

We're staying in Tholthope and fancied Chinese on a Sunday night. The food was delicious, made spicier than normal for us and was steaming hot after a 5 mile journey back to our holiday cottage. We'll definitely be putting a recommendation in the guest book for you. Thank you, best Chinese we had in ages!
