Nice stay, good nights sleep. Excellent food, both dinner and breakfast Roast beef and obviously a lovely Yorkshire pudding. Full English for breakfast

Went for Sunday dinner …. We had pre booked the table and it was ready when we arrived. A gentleman in a checked shirt came over to serve us and I asked what fruit ciders they had . He went to check and came back and said they only had apple or blackberry . I was confused as I regularly visit and they always have a variety . I ordered apple but when it arrived it was just normal cider. I then went to the bar to check and they did have a variety of fruit ciders . The drink was changed when asked . We then ordered our meals and they arrived in good time and were delicious . The same guy cleared the table and asked if we would like to see the desert menu , we said yes but he did not return after around 15 minutes I went to the bar to ask for the menu. He came over with the dessert board and explained the other desserts available . He then left us and did not return! we sat waiting for about another 10 minutes . After 25 - 30 minutes we decided to just order dessert as a take away as were literally just sat there being ignored . The server was cleaning tables around us . Not sure if it was the fact we were sat behind a large pillar and perhaps we could not be seen from the bar ? We are regular customers here but this was the worse service we have ever received !

Fabulous mother's day lunch for 9 of us great service great food and wonderful staff.

Nice clean place to stay over for the night but the beds leave something to be desired 😞 tried both single and double the single had no support at all and the double a little better with mattress topper but still not great. Food on the night of the party was lovely. Buffet style,nice choice. But the breakfast wasn't so nice. Bacon was far to over cooked and food luke warm. I have to say that the staff we're all lovely and friendly no issues there.

I was really disappointed with my first time going here for food especially when I'd heard so many good things. We waited well over an hour for our Sunday lunch for it to be slightly warm the beef was so fatty I had to leave most of mine. I had literally one carrot and one parsnip on my plate :(

Gréât place for relaxed dining experience with super menu. The 5 of us had a spacious table and friendly service. Great tasty food and well priced. There are all the classic choices with some unexpected modern dishes too . Really great evening in a lovely old Inn . Really recommend this as an all round choice for everyone .

Excellent meal. Have never had a disappointing meal at this venue. Vegetarian meal I had was beetroot bourguignon. Never seen that before on a menu and it was delicious. The desserts in particular are definitely a cut above the average.

Spend Easter Weekend in this part of the country. We have a nice evening and night here. 1. Good size Room for 2 adults and 10-year-old child. Pleasant to have the heating on! 2. Food at the restaurant is good and the portions are huge! Be careful we ended up asking for a "doggy bag" :)

First visit for Sunday lunch, and it was delicious. Cauliflower and cheese soup with a hot mini loaf was a mouthwatering experience. Did ask for the recipe, but it’s obviously a village secret! My husband had potato skins topped with pulled pork, definitely a hit. We both opted for the beef, three generous slices draped over the trio of potatoes and Savoy cabbage , topped with carrot, parsnip and broccoli, accompanied by a massive Yorkshire pudding and lashings of tasty gravy, divine. Sadly I had to swerve the dessert (full as a gun!) but someone did manage the strawberry cheesecake and assured me it was gorgeous. So impressed with the service and the friendliness of the staff.

Really enjoyed the food here individually prepared. Tables were well spaced and staff were very helpful.

Came mid week, wasn’t empty and had a nice chilled atmosphere. We enjoyed a couple of white wines, good food and good service! For the area this pub really turns up the expectations a notch, you’re never disappointed when you come here they always deliver. We’ve been here for Sunday lunch and for dinner a couple of times and both are exceptional , not sure how they don’t get more accolades but people should be shouting about this place a lot more - it deserves the recognition!!! We choose the Village Inn for our wedding to be close to where my Mum lives and we couldn’t have been happier with the service we received. Due to living 300 miles away most of the organisation of the wedding took place via mail, and due to Covid was rearranged twice. Erin and her staff were always open to our ideas and suggestions, as well as offering useful advice. The day was very special for us as family and friends had travelled far to be there. Everyone who stayed at the village inn was very satisfied with their rooms and thought the breakfast excellent, they felt it was very good value for money. The food at the wedding was fantastic, being well presented and tasting great, not an easy feet when serving a large number. All in all a brilliant day.

Travelled to Yorkshire for a friend’s wedding at the Village Inn Brompton . What a special weekend made all the more special by the staff at The village Inn , they were so attentive and looked after us very well on our 3 night stay . The food at the wedding was amazing , again the staff were great catering for the needs of the wedding party . Rooms were excellent , clean, spacious and very good value . Stayed for the night whilst traveling home from our honeymoon, clean tidy room, friendly staff, good tasty breakfast that was served on good time. Highly recommended, we will stay here again. Thank you

Went to the Village Inn for a family birthday and although the food was lovely, we felt that service wasn’t great, the staff that served us didn’t look interested! Never asked how our food was, if we wanted any drinks etc - we had to ask for another round. Also we thought that there were too many menus… Parmo menu, main menu, vegan/veggie menu, pudding menu as well as the specials. The text on the specials board was tiny so had to get up and have a look - bit awkward during covid times and also the table under the specials board was occupied so didn’t want to make that table feel uncomfortable with me hovering!!

Absolutely wonderful lunch at this hidden gem today. One of the best meals I have had in a long time! Food so tasty and fresh and the staff were very friendly and attentive. Will definitely be back!

Stayed here last night, didn't arrive til after midnight, hotel accommodated us over the phone with instruction on where keys were left for us. Arrived to what I'd describe as a little terrace of mini houses, which were absolutely stunning, nice n clean, smelt really great, very roomy and everything you needed. Breakfast was included, which again was fantastic, and served by a very pleasant gent.I stay in hotels throughout the week due to work, next time I'm in the North East I'll be looking to book here again with pleasure.1 small negative was the television in room 11 didn't work, however due to arriving late and leaving early it didn't really affect my stay in any way.I would give a 12/10 if I could.

Just popped in for tea, presented with a new "parmo" menu, what a pleasant surprise. We went for the "Hawian" and "Mexician" versions and they were gorgeous. We will definitely be going back on a Thursday. Cannot wait to try the other "parmo" versions.

Lovely food, plenty of selection, friendly service, good with children, reasonably priced. Would recommend to friends.

Our family of 8 went for my daughter's birthday was extremely busy had lots of big parties in. The service was very good the food was brilliant lovely friendly atmosphere good value didn't have to wait long at all for our food well done all throughly enjoyable evening

Just had an amazing meal at the village inn. Not been for a good while but will be visiting again very soon. Fish platter just amazing. Staff so helpful especially Francesca our waitress tended to all our needs with a smile and recommended the dishes we had. The food is amazing well presented and at a reasonable price. Why go elsewhere give this place a try you will not be dissapointed. Kids catered for. You can even bring your dogs to the outside sitting and eating area.

We took our son and daughter in law from S Africa for lunch and we were all so happy with the setting , excellent food and presentation , Good wine and excellent service My best restaurant in the whole of the area and we have tried many since coming to live in N Yorkshire Thank you all

Very friendly pub. Excellent food, service and staff. Had the belly pork with black pudding fritter. It was delicious. Starter was also very good. It also serves "Black Sheep" bitter. What more can I say.

The restaurant offers a good choice of quality dishes and also different sizes to suit different appetites -which I find very useful! They do serve children's portions, too. The food is well presented and cooked to perfection. The restaurant has a cosy and welcoming atmosphere.

We were staying at The Village Inn overnight so we ate here. It's a lovely friendly place, the food was excellent, very large portions. We had gammon, hunter's chicken and bacon loin from the specials boards. Four empty plates speaks volumes. We shared a cheese board and had a couple of bottles of wine. Will be eating here again very soon.

We have enjoyed several meals at The Village Inn so thought it would be nice to have Mothers Day dinner there with our family. Yet again food outstanding and very reasonably priced. Staff are so friendly and obliging and go out of their way to make sure everyone is happy. Will definately recommend to friends and family and look forward to our next visit.

Visited here on Monday lunch time, mainly because it was one of the only places open in the area. However, it turned out to be fantastic. We were about the only people in there and were very well looked after by our waitress. I had the red Thai chicken curry and despite not being the biggest portion it was really fresh and tasty. We also ordered the gammon and a beef and ale pie off the specials board which were also apparently extremely nice. Couldn’t fault the place, we’ll definitely visit again.

Called in without booking a table for Sunday lunch. Good food nicely served - ample portions, good attention to detail. Service excellent with lovely staff - good “can do” attitude. Will definitely return - well worth a visit!

I was there on Sat 22nd for our Samaritans Christmas Dinner. Never been there before but intend to in the future. what a lovely place, very clean, lovely staff, fantastic food. also it is in such a lovely village called Brompton so will be lovely any time of the year to visit.

Set in a lovely village setting. Staff nice and friendly. Service somewhat slow but as we weren't in a rush no problem. Food is average and acceptable- thai red curry is recommended. It's pleasant but wouldn't necessarily rush back.

Christmas party here tonight. Food took over 2 hrs to serve 3 course meal .2 waiters serving food.took over an 1hr between starter& main course. Disco dj was struggling to play music to keep dancers on floor.. A lot of people left after meal. Shame really!! Been here for xmas party in the past was a lot better! . Gone down hill! Sorry more staff..

3 of us booked in for lunch whilst my other half was celebrating her baby shower in one of the function rooms. Initially expecting sunday lunch only so was pleasantly surprised to see a selection of alternative mains on the menu if you didnt want a traditional roast. I went for the chicken parmo which was homemade and very tasty. Would have preferred chunky chips with this though but didnt notice on the menu that it came served with fries. One went for the battered haddock and the other had a pork dinner, both also being very tasty and good portion sizes. Good sunday lunch offer, 2 courses for £13 or 3 for £15. Would have been 5 stars but service felt a bit slow. Asked for another pint as our order was taken but drink never came, had to ask again when meals actually arrived. There was a couple of large groups in so appreciate this was creating a lot more work for the staff. Definitely be back. P.S My other half had a cracking baby shower, afternoon tea and function room were spot on.

I have marked this as 3 stars purely due to the service. It just wasn’t up to a good standard expected.

Often, traveling throughout the UK, using slightly "off-the-road" inns, the food can be hit-and-miss! The Village Inn, in Brompton, just outside Northallerton, is a great exception to the rule!

They don't really cater for vegetarians or people who need to be gluten free - I am both. Last week I was in for lunch for my birthday and the only option they would offer me was a feta cheese salad. The "salad" consisted of lettuce leaves, another salad leaf and it looked like a pack of feta cubes was just dropped onto the top. No peppers, onions, cucumber. tomatoes or anything. Also when I have gone for Sunday lunch I have booked a table for 1.00pm, but when I have got there someone has been sat at the table I had booked. I was told the other people had booked it before me, i.e. they had booked it for 12.00pm, but they were not told of the later booking - what is the point of booking a table when they will give it to someone else? Also sometimes my Sunday lunch is reduced because I can only have the vegetables but quite often it isn't, it depends on which staff are on. Not good enough, it should be consistent and there should be more choice.

Having had our wedding reception here in June 2016, it is with a heavy heart that I am having to write this review.

Clean, comfortable chalet bedroom. Friendly staff and excellent food. Peaceful location. Recommended.

Good value for money only used it as a place to stay for two nights so we could see what Yorkshire had to offer. But the food was great in the evening and at breakfast and the staff were very helpful as well

I stayed here a couple of nights ago on a motorcycle trip. Loved it! The layout is slightly unusual in that the rooms are built around the side of the car park. They are a good size and very comfortable and clean. Really comfortable bed too!

Went to a friends wedding reception held here recently. Stopped the night before and the night of the event. Had evening meals and breakfast both nights. The food was delicious, the room was very comfortable and the service was brilliant on both nights. I'd definitely stop there again.

Went for a party. To say everyone there had pre ordered they insisted on coming back out asking what we were having adding time thus not eating till 9pm. The food was good enough

Staff very tentative food ok reasonably priced wife had steak as part of her meal asked for steak medium rare came out over cooked and was very tuff reasonably priced have had better meals. Need to have a selection of zero sugar drinks behind bar

5 of us went for Saturday lunch. We spent a few leisurely hours here. The food was great, we all opted for the special menus which is 3 courses for £12. I honestly don't know how they make it for that! All of the food was delicious. Only slight niggle is that the restaurant was cold for the first hour or so. It warmed up as the place filled up!

Having got married here, we returned to the area two years later and weren't disappointed. The accommodation is comfortable and quiet, the bar and restaurant are of excellent quality as regards the menu. The food is provided on proper plates, avoiding the pretentiousness of slates or lumps of wood and is good, honest, uncomplicated but imagine active fare. The location is attractive, with the village green and river out front. It's a lovely and friendly place to stay.

Good tasty food, generous portions, the quiche was delicious, as was the gammon! Good value for money, and very polite attentive staff, would highly recommend. Definitely pay another visit.

Absolutley gorgeous had prawn cocktail starter, Duo of Beef & Pork beautiful proper roasties and yorkshires, veg cooked to perfection and to round it off a creme brulle. Six of us dined and we all left very happy. Excellent service. Defo visit again when i next visit my family.

stayed for three nights, and used the restaurant twice,i had a caeser salad on the the first occasion that came with anchovies, I enjoyed it so much I ordered it again on the next visit, when it came I noticed it didn't have any anchovies, when I pointed this out to the waiter he said they didn't have any left,i said if I had known I would have had something else, it just seemed like they hoped I wouldn't notice,apart from that the staff were really friendly and efficient.

Went here with a group of nine. Have had great food previously. Very small portion of white bait, 10oz gammon was more like 5oz. We were in a seperate room and it felt like a storeroom with chairs stacked around us, empty cake box on the floor. Two of the three toilet seats were badly soiled, they were reported but nothing was done. Some meals were ok but mostly mediocre. The gammon was mentioned and the response was that yes the chef thought they were small. Service was standard. Time of booking was wrong. Very surprising for what has been nice in the past.

Disappointed.....we were the only ones in and yet waited for what seemed forever for food which when it arrived was adequate apart from fish which was excellent quality, sticky toffee pudding, good size portion but more like treacle pudding, everything else small portions, you might need starter, pudding or both, menu limited. Can't recall going anywhere where you couldn't swap chips for jacket potato which left us assuming no fresh potatoes available. Staff were very nice and plenty of them....background music rather loud, but perhaps that's just me. Hopefully everything a one off but I will think twice, sorry......

3rd visit here and as usual fantastic food and customer service. Always recommend this place to friends when I hear they are visiting area. Great value for money.

Sunday lunch at this place is outstanding. There was literally nothing that we could fault about the meal. The service was also great and the desserts are to die for. Definitly give this place a try, but make sure to book as it is a popular place.

Thought we would come for a family meal out on a Thursday evening as it was our wedding anniversary and 4 years ago we had our wedding at the village inn! The food was lovely and service was great. Especially one of the young waiters with blondish hair.Don't know why we don't come more often!

we went for lunch today and ordered fish and chips, service was a bit slow but they looked short staffed. when the meal arrived we were disappointed the chips were so well done, very dark brown, almost black and the batter on my fish was so hard I could hardly cut it in places it was so hard and the fish was dry. the waiter asked if our food was ok and we told him it was over cooked, he apologised and said he would speak to the kitchen staff he never returned. I ate some fish as no result from the kitchen when the waiter took our plates the waiter said was everything ok I said no and asked what the kitchen staff had said the kitchen staff had said? they would give a 10% discount. MY FAMILY AND MYSELF HAVE FREQUENTLY EATEN AT THE VILLAGE INN and in the past had good food, the steak night was excellent and usually are the fish and chips, but this has put me off, disgusted and disappointed.

Another top notch service x delicious food served up by the Village Inn.All 18 guests really enjoyed the set menu and the Yorkshire cheese boards to finish were a perfect end to a perfect night.All the food was fresh x delicious, very tasty and the staff were very tentative x helpful. Couldn't have asked for more..oh the onion rings are just amazing!The Yeoman suite suits our needs down to the ground and is a perfect setting for our dinner and breakfast.Our gathering don't want the event to be held anywhere else as they all love the venue, the accommodation x the value for money.Thank you to John and his staff, couldn't be anymore perfect.

This is the restaurant I always recommend when people ask for somewhere to eat in Northallerton. Although it's just outside Northallerton in the village of Brompton it's only a mile and if you don't want to drive then jump in a taxi. This place is value for money and the food is amazing. The Village inn does weekly offers and promotions have a look at their website before you visit. The staff are friendly, they have a large car park at the rear and the the bar is a lovely setting especially homely feel to the front of the bar near the fireplace.

Based on previous experience went to the Village Inn for a family meal. We waited over an hour to place our food order and the restaurant wasn't really busy.The service level was simply not good - but cannot fault the food which was very good and reasonable - from the lunch menu.Only food issue was one of the starters which was lukewarm at best, but his was rectified fairly quickly with a fresh dish.

We had my mum's 60th birthday meal here last night and it was just perfect! From picking up the phone to enquire about booking to getting there last night... nothing was to much. The village inn organised a menu for a pre order and the menu they provided was beautiful. However some of my family are a bit picky but this was not to much for the restaurant to accommodate them.We ate in the small function room and it has all been set out wonderful for our arrival. I really cannot fault the staff, the service or the food! All the staff were absolutely spot on and very attentive, Ben in particular was so accommodating to us, anything we asked wasn't to much. My dad cannot manage the stairs upto the function room Ben did not mind opening the doors in the other function room for him to get through.I would highly recommend The Village Inn

There on a regular basis food is always spot on staff always friendly and helpful, never had a bad experience. Tried most things on the menu but can recommend the parmo and the curries. Hubby loved the fish and chips and the steak nights are good value for money .

We arrived before 6pm to an empty room, we ordered from set menu, waiter didn't know what soup of day was so had to ask kitchen (picky I know but the length of time we were there ) didn't get any veg with pork loin unless as an extra, 4 cheeses on cheeseboard, 3 the same type, tomato chutney (?) had core left on. Main gripe was the wait between courses when it wasn't very busy

We came for lunch a week or so ago with friends from Harrogate and opted for the 3 course lunch special which was absolutely superb.The quality of the food and the presentation were second to none.only downside is what has happened to the chocolate torte which was the best in the world, please put it back on the menu!

We hire the Yeoman room to celebrate my father's 80th birthday with family and friends. I made the arrangements with Laura and arranged a lunch time set menu - £9 for 2 courses or £10 for 3 courses for 22 people. The meals were pre ordered.On the day of arrival we were able to decorate the room. All the staff were extremely friendly & helpful and there was no issue when it came to light I had made an error with a starter. We were able to chose from the bar menu desserts which were £5 each at £1 ahead for the guests having 3 courses. The food was excellent - well cooked and hot. I would definitely go back again

3 of us visited last week. We hadn't booked but as we arrived just after 5.00pm we got table with no problems. The menu was varied and I decided to go for parmo with chips, one friend had rissotto and the other fish and chips. When the food arrived we were all shocked - in a good way. The fish and chips wasn't fish - it was a whale!!!! Huge and very well cooked. It came with chunky chips and mushy peas. My parmo came with skinny chips and the parmo itself was huge and yummy. The rissotto was also really good. I then had dessert - chocolate brownie with ice cream and the other 2 had cappachinos. I had 3 soft drinks and my friends 2 soft drinks each. When the bill came it was £50 which we thought was very reasonable. The service throughout the night was top class and we were sat next to a roaring open fire which was lovely. Looking forward to my next visit.

I was on a business trip and booked here because it was near my first appointment and had good reviews and free WiFi advertised. The place was nice and easy enough to find, my evening meal and breakfast was lovely and the room was OK. BUT WiFi was terrible, and I needed it for prep work for a presentation, and the room was cold with one small radiator.

Visited between Xmas and new year for overnight stay.Dinner in restaurant was good with reasonable prices.All staff I encountered during my stay were friendly and welcoming.Full English breakfast was as good as any I have ever had.Would not hesitate to return.

I have had to visit this restaurant on a number of occasions as we have family living in the village. Are my expectations too high? I think not. All I ask for is food to be served hot, to be served in a professional manner and the order to be correct. New Years Eve I asked for extra vegetables, reminded the waitress who said she was going to get them and never returned. At the end of the meal when I mentioned the missing vegetables to the same waitress I was given so many excuses that my wife and I could not tell fact from fiction. The food that we got was tepid when it arrived. This is not the only time that this has happened we have been here on a number of occasions and we have experience similar levels of service. During this particular meal at no point did any of the staff enquire if the meal was ok and ask if we were we enjoying it. May be they knew the answer. Instead they congregated at the end of the bar talking amongst themselves. At one point I had to leave the table and ask staff to come and take a drinks order. As I was not paying the bill I did not feel in a position to make a complaint and upset our host. I have read the numerous reviews on this restaurant and feel as if I have visited a completely different venue as my and my wife's experience differs somewhat to everyone else's. A poor experience one I will not repeat.

Communication and service by staff and the management was appalling! Will never go there again.We kept waiting over forty minutes told the Christmas fare menu stopped at 2pm, they came to take our order at 10 past 2 and refused us the above menu. Ended up with bar food, which for a works Christmas party not ideal. No apologies or communication from any of the staff,

Visit almost weekly for lunch and are never disappointed. Friendly staff and owner who make you feel very welcome. Big attraction is the menu changing weekly so there is always something new to look forward to and try. The food is freshly cooked and never fails to disssapoint with just right size of portions so it's fine to have three courses without feeling overwhelmed. Cracking value for lunch. Can't see point in bothering to try anywhere else !!

We were a group of 7 celebrating a birthday. Six of us ordered from the main menu rather than the set Christmas menu. All main courses were delicious. However, when we wanted to order our dessert we were told that only those on the festive menu were available. Had we known this from the start several of us would have had starters as the desserts available were not to our taste. This was truly disappointing as the 'sweet tooth' members of our party had been looking forward to a sumptuous end to their meal. As it was we went home disappointed and the venue lost out on income. Poor all round.

Had dinner here with family, very good evening. Made even better with the very good food, good service and friendly staff. Although a Thursday evening the place was very busy, always a good sign. I had the sirloin steak which was exceptional, have not had such a good steak in years... One of the party had the Xmas Turkey dinner and enjoyed the meal.

Been over 20 years since my last visit so on the wayto Northallerton for a night at the theatre, we stopped off here. Undergo major refurbishment and extension since i was last here. The service was prompt, attentive and extremely pleasant. I chose the risotto and it was delicious. A nice experience with a warm and welcoming vibe.

Visited 15/11/16 and the food was good the service was awful, waiter never asked in the 2 hours we were there if we wanted any further drinks, if our food was ok. After finishing our main course we had to wait 25 minutes for the table to be cleared and then had to ask to see the desert menu, only to wait a further 20 minutes without been asked for our order so left without having a sweet. Poor service from start to finish.

An ok lunch- decent choices on the menu- prawn cocktail and vegetable spring rolls for starter OK- pleasant. Beef was nice - traditional Sunday lunch which was average. The salmon was covered in hollandaise so possibly a little less would be ideal but that's a subjective opinion.Didn't really like the presentation of eton mess in a cup and saucer - a glass is much more classic.......however it tasted very nice! Service was slow - and on three occasions we were presented with dishes that we hadn't ordered so clearly an issue with table numbering for the staff.

Burgers were beautiful, delicious flavours and meaty burger! Only thing is service seemed abit slow, took a while for them to come and take any order and when we asked for sauces they took agers to come!Was abit annoying my dinner was served on a plate with a hole for a ramikin dish but chips were just on top, annoying when trying to cut and there's a ridge! Also a shame they have stopped doing burger and a drink for £10 but didn't think it was priced badly at £8 for burger!

Went on. Sunday because other choices were closed and we'd heard good things about the Inn. They only have a pub menu on Sunday evenings so we had burgers and they were pretty good, as were the fries and coleslaw. Nice staff, pleasant room. Nothing special but a fine night out.

Stayed for one night on our way to Northumberland. Had the 3 course set menu for £18. Very good food, well presented. Breakfast next morning was adequate cereal, fruit juice, toast. The cooked breakfast was very good with good quality ingredients.

Food great, staff efficient and friendly, great ambience. Have never stayed in hotel accommodation, have only had superb meals that are great value for money. Have seen the rooms and they look clean and very comfortable. Brompton is a very pretty village within a few minutes from Northallerton, with its great range of shops and a great market on Wednesdays and Saturdays.

Booked through laterooms.com and after finding out that there was a £10 Mark up booked directly with the hotel. There are good and bad points in equal measure.... Good points:Swift and positive response when booking the room and cutting out the booking agent.Clean room and basic comforts.Fantastic food and friendly attentive waiting staff (despite being busy)Full (and lots of it breakfast) cooked to order and fresh coffee.Great location in a friendly little village.Bad points:Payment upon arrival.... gives the impression that 'it's all about the money' when asked why, I was greeted with a surly... 'that's the way it is'Poor plumbing... shower tray is full within 2 minutes of having a shower... not draining away fast enough... therefore shower is taken in phases in order to prevent flooding (which I would probably have been billed for).... tried to report this but no one seemed bothered as they were busy.Cost cutting measures meant longer than normal wait for food.... 50 minutes for dinner.... 30 minutes for breakfast..... one girl on for breakfast to serve 5 tables, make toast / coffee, collect orders, clean up etc... evening meal I had to order at the bar as the waiter forgot about us.Generally nice.... but not great.... reasonable price but it's the attention to detail..... and paying for a hotel up front just smacks of 'cash is king' and is not an endearing quality..

The menu is not huge but it is excellent value for money and I felt that there were several things on the menu I'd happily have chosen. We really enjoyed our meals .Service was pleasant,helpful and the food appeared quite quickly despite the pub being fairly full and there being some parties in . It felt a very 'good natured', relaxed place to eat.

Let me say I shoot up and down the UK often at the last minute booking a place to stay and eat. This delightful place was a real winner. From the minute I arrived staff were attentive to any request and delivered excellent customer service with a smile and you could tell they enjoyed their working environment rooms are clean and spacious with all you require for a comfortable nights stay. Now let's discuss the food here. It was a good indication things are okay when I noticed the locals were eating. And yes the food was simply delightful and very reasonable with offers on throughout the week. Will I return most definitely

My future father-in-law booked a table at this establishment and we were met and seated quickly. We had several requests which were met without hesitation and had a great night.My Grandparents are locals and know all of the staff but this was my first time here. I had the Village Inn Burger which I would recommend!! The chips come in a newspaper style design and this made us chuckle. My burger was great with an option of coleslaw and salad to add. The only advice I would give is that the burger is a little tall so it may need a wooden pick through it. However, the burger is big, I was hungry and it got demolished.You get what you pay for, great food and a good atmosphere!!We will be returning on our return trip soon.

Group Lunch with 18 other people,excellent service and very polite staff,and a menu to suit all,I had the 3 course option £10 and the wife had the 2 course option £9,drinks optional,hic ! This is the third time we have visited the Village Inn and never had cause to complain*****

Been a couple of times. Very pleasant and well laid out pub with excellent food and excellent service, at a reasonable price. Good real ale as well and a pleasant rural area.

Friendly service, cosy modern décor and a dignified ambience contribute to the success of this excellent gastro pub. I've eaten here on several occasions and never have I been disappointed. I would expect to pay a little more, in fact, in view of the consistent quality of the food.Try the fish and chips!

Warm welcome, cozy corner, two courses for £9. Portion sizes just right and flavours married together beautifully. We have been here before and will definitely return.

Enjoyed the Christmas menu in Dec 2015 with slimming group and we had a fab choice of a 3 course meal. Enjoyed the food and company.

Visited Saturday evening food was great nice sized portions however drinks a little expensive but all in all a great night had by the whole party.

Four of us visited on a Saturday lunchtime to take advantage of the 3 courses for £10 offer. I had heard good things about this place, but the quality and value of the food was really excelptional. I had a pulled pork rissole with spicy barbecue sauce, followed by a lovely fish pie with mash and green peas. For dessert, I had Bakewell Tart and ice cream. All for £10! My family's meals were equally good. All the main courses came with some veg, but we ordered one extra portion. This was very generous and cost only £1 extra. There were quite a few other diners and the fish and chips looked very popular (and huge!).The ambience was lovely - we had a large table near a gas flame fire which was very cosy. Cannot be beaten in terms of value for money.

We come on new years eve and the food was superb as usual however a supposed magician was visiting tables performing magic tricks in between him dripping sweat everywhere whilst someone filmed him - not pleasant whilst eating. the 'disco' was very disappointing the supposed DJ was awful! The choice of music was the very worst, and he didn't even play Auld Lang Syne - midnight classic on new years eve - complete waste of money!Following this I went back the following Thursday for a meal for my birthday having been told it was 'Pie night' turns out it wasn't pie night and it was just the normal menu - not a problem the food was still nice. Although the bar area was freezing, when mentioned to staff we were informed the fire was broken, and as there was only 3 staff on so serves was very slow. Unfortunately we have been disappointed with recent visits here as it's close to home and food is nice but in future I would rather travel elsewhere.

We visited for new years eve. The room was fine, clean, warm and comfortable beds. Had booked a meal in the bar and it was busy but had to wait 40 minutes for starter which was only a soup supposed to be served with a mini loaf but was a twisted sweet tasting bread not very nice. The rest of the meal was lovely and good value and staff friendly. The breakfast would have been perfect had the bacon been better quality and less fatty. Disco was available for free plus a magician was going around the tables doing his party piece which was very average. Overall though a nice break
